simple as that: i recommended this game because you could play with ‘most’ skills from start on.
For me and all people I play with, not only in this game, these changes are completely the wrong direction. I’m sorry the devs put lots of time&effort in it but for a lot of people you killed the motivation to create an alt. If that was your plan you did well I guess

Hehe, I had this yesterday, first while I took a alt to the first part of season2. The inquest golems there completely destroyed my guardian. Later it came to my mind thats not just my squishy guardian because even in low lvl areas these guys hit like trucks.
If I had to guess perhaps its mechanicly handled like the ranger LB#2 that got buffed? IDK just a guess but I hope they’ll fix this soon.

The Dhuumfire change from the ready up will decrease burningup time by a lot. especially since DS is also a defensive tool and by applying burning you can’t switch back for a certain time.
Don’t get me wrong, I play my necro a lot and I know how fast you can die to condition ‘bombing’ and in the whole picture less conditions are a good thing at this point.

I simply don’t get why the engi burn was not mentioned with a similar change. The trait is easier to get and works exactly the same. And on top FT, bomb kit, pistol etc also provide burning. The only reason seems to be thast they don’t have a spell like DS1 for the engi that all builds have excess to.
All in all changing the condi necro and not touch the condi engi seems not consistent to me at all. But lets see how the whole patch will look like.

SoloQ is a terrible experience

SoloQ with 2+ hard counter against your class is terrible but on the other hand I’ve never been called names etc. in SoloQ.
In general I found tornaments much more friendly compared to hot joins.

In hot joins people rage just because a 1v1 turns into a 2v1

I honestly think that it will be hard to balance the class without increasing the survivability by a good bunch.
Like I said in an other threat you re simply not useful in a lot of situation even with soldiers.
On an other note Id like to see either some quality of life changes like faster dragon teeth or a good bunch more of damage since its soooo easy to avoid it even without dodges. Faster dragon tooth would be better to not increase burst damage even more.

Changes like this would also decrease the the gimmick character of some builds.

One of the biggest problems for me is that the bad survivability makes it absolutely impossible to help downed team mates. 99% of the time its complete suicide and you just create two corpses instead of one. Even soldier’s is extremely squishy.

How does warrior has everything for 1 package ? Last time i checked warrior needs to use berserker amulet to do dps.Has no access to defensive boons and the most difficult class to apply dps on target.But is cool to see what target resseting,stealth,ui flooding for tab targeting kitten mass exploiting,aoe mindless spamming without even needeing to be close or facing the target believe.I believe considering to l2p is still hard ?

:) I play a warrior and several other classes (ele is the least) and the game mode makes it much more easy to hit someone (you know the cycle that changes colors and where you can sit on to keep it). And forcing someone out and survive is often considered a win.
And you can do damage without a full berserker amulet.

Hehe you say there are not enough playing warrior that it would be OP and when someone asks for a good build you can smell the fear going around that people play even more of them to proof their success. This is just hilarious

The warrior package has simply everything for very little effort. And like some said this becomes even stronger when put in a small group fight. Perhaps its not that much but there has to be some adjustment.

And yes their are other very easy builds that could not do so much for so little. Esp AI builds.
And (even if its far from my main) just compare warriors with eles for some games. Just as an example.

I’ll try to make this short:

I konw this is somehow a hard wish but I really don’t like acended gear in WvW (and in general).
The biggest reason why I still play spvp is that at least I don’t have to gear up to archive a (mostly) balanced starting point. In pve we’re all on the same side so I just have to fell sorry to not bring the best gear possible for my team(not funny as well).

But in WvW I will have a disadvantage for not doing the grind or bringing an alt. I admit I was never the most dedicated wvw player but with this I will not go there again.
So in short my wish is to not increase the item lvl and stats on gear. (and give players an other way to slowly work towards ascended gear than crafting).

And to make a constructive counter example:
After some trys beating Liadri with my necro was something I was proud of (even if it was far easier on some professions) . And all I got was a mini. A gear peace or a title for this (to show of) would have been great and a perfect motivation to do it.

i also thought i couldnt play something without dodging anymore but yesterday i did my first raid after more than a year and it was good fun.

my problem here is the way i am .lets say motivated. to buy gems. i understand the player should feel the need to buy gems but exactly this keeps me from having a relaxed time.
i rather spend 12€ and am done with it/ have all options. than being advertised 24/7. like some said, a normal bank, unlimited transmog, char slots etc could easily cost more than the monthly fee.

a year ago i wouldnt have said this. anyway play what you enjoy

Like some said, it’s good for you that you’re happy, but I am pretty much done with the game
The condition problem is a very big concern for me. Ascended gear is a time consuming, alt-unfriendly design. The achievement-type patches also couldn’t catch me…

All in all I just check here for changes that could bring me back. Even this I would not do IF I HAD AN ALTERNATIVE right now.

Today I also thought about reasons I don’t play anymore. My situation is:

- I like the combat system very much
- I like the non trinity idea
- I like the looks and general style
- I like playing alts

- I completely dislike the way stats are put on gear and how different direct and condition damage turns out
- I completely dislike the whole achievement idea (hated it in wow aswell)
- I dislike holyday patches and ‘short’ patches

Idk but most of the changes def. did not make me play more. Motivation is here key, I really don’t have any for this game. It feels much more like I have to be online 24/7 for far too much (not so special) content.
There are balance decisions I really didn’t like and perhaps it all adds up now.

Of course this is all personal and if you guys are happy it’s cool. I thought it could be nice for devs to get some reasons form htose who liked the game and still stoped playing.

Honestly this fight crosses the line for me. I made most of the fights till Liadri with the Ranger, only if it was far to much pain I switched to my engi, messmer or necro. But I was never so upset about the pet mechanics like in this fight.
And I simply feel bad if I have to change my profession just to roll through something my ranger has far too much problems with. And doing Phase 2 to 99,9% without a class mechanic is just not fun.

Enjoy the game guys and hopefully you get the right changes, but for me it’s just not worth the time. Bye

Since people have very different opinions of what works/does not, I’d like to know which build gives you the most success. I’m especially interested in other builds than BM bunkers, for example a skirmishing LB build with remorseless (I couldn’t do this).

I like the burning very much but don’t need the terror (of course the combination is strong).
I’m also sure a big part of the hole problem are people just not used to fight necros at this point.
And the torment idea would have high chances to either a) increase the synergy with fear (you run) with high stacks or b) be not worth for any spec at all

IMO it would b best to find a way where it’s not possible to use both traits together (even if it would just be the ugly way to write something like “TERROR; doesn’t work if you already use Dhuumfire” into the trait)

My biggest problem is I can’t really find something that works for me but grenades. Flamethrower comes close but both builds are with 409.
Static discharge is even better now but I’m affraid it has lower sustain and less defence.

If you already didn’t try out builds in the mist to get a feeling for certain builds.

1. condition caps. It feels to me that I need at least 50% power orientated gear for open world events and also dungeons with other condition specs. But I tend to like pure condition specs better than power so I often feel uncomfortable one way or the other. And by increasing the caps, making them character specific, or at least "giving a flat damage output for conditions applied (after the cap is reached) would be great IMO.

2. more events like flame&frost. I really liked it and I’m not into these holiday-type events. And if at least some of the four new content design teams would create something in that direction I would be more than happy.

3. Minor points in terms of balancing. I don’t like the berserker or go home attitude. Ranger pets could use some improvements. etc. Bugs that could be found before the patches go live. etc.

Same here. What hurts me most is the group I did this with was by far not pro (nether am I) and we spend some time to figure this twister thing out. And everyone was patient and nice and eager to get to the end.

And of course it is VERY disappointing for all to leave the nice group and the dungeon just before the final boss because it’s bugged. Isn’t there a way to test this before letting it go live?

A sad player here.

Yes, target lock would decrease the skill you need.
Yes, it would decrease the numbers of grenades that hit on long range in a lot of situations.
And yes, it would make a lot situations far worse:
- like some said, running and throwing grenades behind you is a big advantage
- throwing grenades into the terrain (walls in wvw) where the targets change/can’t be locked etc.
And yes, this kit is still extremly! good, not just because of the damage it does, but because of all the conditions it has:
aoe vuln.
aoe bleeds
aoe snare
aoe poison
aoe blind
burn (with trait)
Oh and yes, underwater has the auto cast because it’s simply the only possible way since your enemy is not near a surface most of the time. 2d pointing device (mouse) in a 3d enviroment (water bassin)…

sry but this kit is on the deflist for possibly being still to strong (see SOTG) and here half the people whine and come up with rediculous OP ideas.

Very sorry to say this so clear (and I don’t want to hurt developer feelings but):
Flame & frost with its singleplayer content and esp. the molten facility was really great but the southsun content feels really awful to me.

The dungeon mechanic also seems to have problems when you pull the boss over mines and they sometimes don’t explode.

I would very much prefer more content like F&F and dismiss southsun.

Ok, it has been said often but since the new patch brought also a dungeon where this catches the eye I want to address this quick.

Please consider a “pet go there” (with a marker) button for our pets.

I really like the new dungeon and it is possible to manage your pets inside, but the last boss is a good example for “I need the tanky pet since theres too much aoe and too less control for it”. You can avoid the shockwaves with bows and move your pet between the boss and yourself and also switch them. But still the tanky pet is a no brainer and the cat can die in seconds if you have bad luck with the aoe.

Yes you can do the dungeon and find a pet that survives. My point is that it could be real fun to pull the hard hitting pet back and forth while avoiding all the stuff on the ground and all while dodging, damaging, rezzing etc. All we need is this button.

And since some of us know it from wow I don’t think it causes too much of a problem in gameplay or am I missing something.

If this is on the list and I missed it sorry, move along

TL;DR

Heavy need for a “move pet button”;
Sorry for repeating it, but it would increase fun imo.

Must be the new stealthaneer! I just got besten up by it so Hard its not Even funny. Acually i didnt see the engineer but I know it was one bc everywhere were turrets that melted my face. And if I manage to kill one he simply replaced it
And when i tried to reset he downed me with his grenades from a mile away… still from stealth of course. How can I Beat this op crab????

Pets Survival in Dungeons April 30 patch

This is the exact topic I was looking for I did the new dungeon yesterday with my ranger and today with my engineer.
And I first want to ask the more experienced rangers: Is there a way to avoid the damage to a pet when the red fire ring comes out of the last boss? The only way I could think of is to move REALLY far away ( only possible when the boss is more near the edge of the platform) and pull your pet back since the ring expires there.

But has somebody a good idea? With my engi I had no problem dealing with this guy alone and I don’t see how I could do that with my little ranger.

Also from a suggestion pov: Why can’t the pet dodge when you dodge? Not more not less. At least this way you can avoid the big hitters.

I also did the ‘mini dungeons’ (char and norn) 2 days ago and I am very happy with them as well. I did this so late because I find the living story interface a little difficult but the story, events, characters etc were just great!
I hope you guys find a effective way to create this content fast and cheap enough so we get even more. I know I could do this all day

Oh and please add a ‘leave dungeon, it’s over button to all of them

Hey, I got my ranger to 80 just a 2 weeks ago so here are my starter tipps.

Right now shortbow + axe/warhorn is extremly flexible. You get the swiftness, a good burst and cleave. For the rest shortbow with good snares and evade.

Berserker gear is great for leveling and group events. I started with a signet build and later changed it to a trap/condition build. Now at 80 I’m mixed with rabid armor, rest berserker gear(will perhaps be switched with rampagers).

I only did hotjoin maps but at this entry level you have very good chances to win a fight if you don’t explode in the first 3 sec by a glass cannon. Perhaps I’m still not good enough at anticipating thiefs (not the very bad ones) but except them and some mesmers your sustained damage will win the lasting fights for you.

The trap build is strong against melee champions so at least here is good solo potential. If your pet got some hits pull it back/ switch/ stealth it.

Oh and if you know you have more than a few meters to go, change one utility slot to the +movement speed signet. This makes the leveling soo much better.

And like always save the karma until 80. If you don’t have unlimited gold you can at least but stuff from the orr temple guys (like some already said).

For lower areas (and i guess leveling) I really like axe/focus + dagger/warhorn because you kill single targets fast, move fast and have good DS fillers.

With more dangerous content I switch to the hybrid with scepter/dagger and either axe/focus (solid single targets) or staff (more aoe/utility). This is very close to Nemesis hybrid Bas has listed.

But of course reading all the good guides here will give you the best knowledge and there are far more builds that could work for you. Have fun and don’t get caught by the ‘I hate my profession’ fever

I understand they don’t want bugs in the game but an increase in the FT2 dmg seems totally fine. Did a single threat pop up about FT engis being op now due to this bug?

If they bind this to the juggernaut trait, and increase the burst damageon all ranges to… lets start with 1,5x ( 2 was nice though) the damage is has right now it would fit just fine imo.

The change to kit refinement (yes the trait was good, perhaps too good for a lvl 10 trait) took away a lot of fun for me. And this especially due to the global CD. If you use more than one kit it’s just clunky. We can switch kits without CD and a lot of combos also need this.

The new changes simply discourage you to do so. So let’s try to bring all the good arguments to make them think about it again. I really like the idea of moving it to a higher tier and also remove the ‘global CD’.

Done. But I’m pretty sure Anet has a lots of data actually from ingame that they are looking at a lot. By having the the numbers how many eles are running around and how much they are winning/loosing (and when) gives a much better idea on balance compared to a"feeling class x is better than y".

Of course people know that they can roll another class but he/she has a point. If your not happy do something else. Perhaps it’s more your thing and you’ll do fine OR you realize that the class you’re expecting so much from has actually it’s on weaknesses and so on.
But a problem could really be what you expect. If you really want the guy whos shooting arrows and has pets you have a hard time not rolling a ranger. A perhaps better question could be:
Do I wan’t to play at mid range with weaker auto attacks but lots of control and conditions and do I like the idea of kits?

Oh the roleplayers are going to kill me…

A few things:
This sounds like the guys who came just from wow and are used to the button mashing style. Don’t get me wrong I had it too and a lot of other people I know in game: It feels strange and wrong in the beginning to not hammer your skills or just autoattacking. But wait until you see ALL of the class. Go to the mist and fight a little with the pvp guys like swanir etc and you find out more necessary tricks.

Also the classes play very different. I startet with the necro (80), then leveled an engineer(80 and by far the most fun class I have ever played!) and am now leveling a ranger (50 something). And the ranger is soooo easy and powerfull while doing that (just for nethykins). And if you’re afraid that there is no skill necessary try to play an ele to it’s full potential Perhaps get some ideas from streams of good players.

TL;DR;
Quit and try a game you enjoy more or relax and try more classes (and their whole specs in the mist, all gear and skills from lvl2 on free) and play it as it is designed without big expectations. Perhaps you just need to warm up.

Some hints from me would be (esp. if you like events):

- Berserker gear (power,prec,crit dmg) is often a good idea since you don’t run into the current condition caps, so perhaps try to do some daily events to get money for dmg trinkets.
Oh but to edit: I also have the feeling mixing in some condition damage is not too bad for a lot of weapons. We get a lot from might stacks and the mixed nature for example of grenades allows us to go this hibrid way. But for real min/maxing full zerker will prob. win.

- There are three stat-‘kinds’ of armor (and other stuff) at the orr tempels

and you can mix / minmax them (only the runes will not fit then). Perhaps use your karma for some of them.

- In terms of kits/weapons you can start with a kit you like and you will realize that there is a short period of time where you used most of your skills exept the auto attack.
Try to fill this window with pistol, rifle or an other kit. For example grenade 2-4 (or4,3,2) -> pistol 2-4(or 3,2,4 what fits you most) and repeat. And since we also don’t have a cooldown on the kitswap, try to find more combos or look them up

- IF you want grenades concider the ?fast-cast? option in the option menu. you’ll miss the green mark on the ground but you just need to press the button once.

- For events with lots of mobs use a weapon/kit with AOE to tag as much mobs as possible for more loot.

But most of all try to find the build / playstyle your happy with. If spamming grenades is not fun for you don’t do it. To test a build you can always go to the heart of the mist and build/gear for free and at least test it at the dummys and pvp guys. Hopefully this helps and you read something new

For me these things all work good:

- grenades + HGH (imo most save)
- pistols + HGH + toolkit (least damage since less confusion trigger in pve)
- grenades,rifle,toolkit,elixiergun,medkit…. a lot of swapping with kit refinement (very flexible) 30/20/0/0/20 with speedy kits perhaps

and also

- flamethrower + HGH

if you have the time try it in orr for events with lots of berserker gear. The damage is very good. Biggest problem are the closer range, no condition removal (if needed change HGH with 409 perhaps, but ofc this hurts) and retaliation. The reflected damage was the most annoying for me since your auto attack is so fast you … you’ll see
The last build is perhaps the worst but I linked it because it can give a nice change in playstyle since we all need a day of from grenades now and then

Since the patch I ran something in that direction but with incendiary powder instead of the cloaking device. Like some said this also works good with some berserker gear.

I went Carrion (minor in power, no precision or crit dmg), and each part still hits like a truck. That one skill provides a nice chunk of my damage output, that I’m actually convinced that it may be overpowered in this incarnation.

Hmm yeah the might-stacking would probably hit the roof esp. with FT4. And this in an HGH build…

The changes don’t seem to be to big to make it OP. And I’d love to have such a good blast finisher. Would make our lifes even smoother
And sorry but right now FT2 does really good damage, esp. compared to our other weapons. To say it’s not worth the cast is … silly. With enough power, crit, cirt dmg it’s an amazing ability and also more skill dependent compared to a one button auto hit cast.
