It’s indeed rampant but more importantly it’s INCREDIBLY annoying. And it’s been like that since the kittening start. It simply shows that Guild wars 2’s devs don’t play their own game. I guess it will never get fixed.
Well I find the thief to be in a pretty balanced spot atm but I agree about using STeal on mesmer being ridiculous lol. As if they needed such an overpowered spell against Mesmer anyway….
To be honest, with queues taking 5 min+ sometimes I obviously alt tab and simply forget I was queuing for a moment; sometimes tabbing back 10 sec before the match starts or even almost getting kicked.
They should implement a warning sound which you can hear when a match gets found (DotA 2 has such a system for exemple and it does wonders). That CERTAINLY wouldn’t take much work, heh.
Devs still need to explain to me WHY you removed the fact we could craft SKINS in pvp through the mystic forge + crafting material you could earn while pvp’ing.
Is it simply so people get less skins in general and tend to buy more gems to get full sets on your MILKING shop? That would be so kittening kitten lame, jesus…
Ok so I actually read the entire thread thinking it was a recent one, got all pumped up (because this map is ludicrous) only to realise those dev responses were from 11 months ago ROFLMAO. What-a-joke. It’s both so hilarous and sad, wow.
If you like the Chaos line, try BI + CI with Mantra of Distraction instead of PU for sPvP. Interrupt builds can be pretty hilarious, but yeah shatter is meta for team queue. However, the PU trait has its place in WvW roaming where you often need to evade 10+ angry people.
Can you just explain some forum-isms please:
BI?
CI?
Meta?I see these repeated across threads but the meaning is not immediately apparent.
(and kitten? WTF? lol)
Edit: BI = Bountiful Interruption? CI= Chaotic Interruption?
You got i right about BI and CI. Regarding the term “meta”, it refers to the term “metagame” which means something like : “what is most commonly played in the game at the moment”.
“kitten” is simply an automatic editing from the forum when you post innapropriate words :p
Uhm.. what first strikes me is your lack of damage tbh. Yes you’re very survivable and I can totally see you killing your ennemies but it must be very slow. Moreover, your only true damage dealer is Izerker with a 20 sec cd (which is relatively long) and if you face smart opponents they will simply focus it and ignore other clones / phantasm. And with no ipersona trait , your shatters must tickle.
Your build surely isn’t that bad though; you got a bit of everything – a bit of power damage with Izerker/shatter, a bit of condi damage and a lot of survivability but I feel that if your Izerker gets focused down fast, you don’t do much :/
EDIT: I personally put all six chaos points you have (no condi damage and a bit less survivable) into Illusions (for illu invigoration and Illu persona) to have a strong shatter + phantasm build. Also using GS but sword + pistol as offhand weaponset and it REALLY deals a kittenload of damage. But then again, WAY less room for mistakes :p
Keeping your actual build to learn more the class and improve your timings could be a good idea but playing without PU makes Mesmer way more interesting for me.
(edited by Ergolicious.1507)
Playing the “standart” 4-4-0-0-6 shatter build (GS/sw + pistol) atm but with empowered illusions + phantasmal fury so I can actually do something against Engi and Necros or more tanky spec from far away if needed. Switching phantasmal fury for +300 range on blink on certain maps.
Rune of traveler because I like to roam from node to node rather than sit my kitten all game long on one.
In all honesty, when queuing from ~17h to 22H, it usually takes less than 2 minutes to find a game (half the time, I INSTA find a game). Obviously with the pvp community being rather small, later you play in the night….
(edited by Ergolicious.1507)
Like I said one day after the patch, entangle was the thing which I found the most absurd. When facing 2-3 rangers all having that elite (48 sec traited), it becomes simply ludicrous….
WHat I’m wondering tho, is if the map generator is totally random… I played 6 solo matches in a raw some days ago and got three times skyhammer and three times Nifel… If it rolls between the 6 maps, I find it quite odd… probability wise.
Everytime I have 1v1 and i got rekt, its usually like:
8k bleeding dmg at least + other condition 3-4k.If I lose in a group fight its usually like 20k bleeding damage + others.
Those 30-40k + bleeding damages added up cuz I survived a few 1v1 and such.
But seriously. The 3rd skill which damaged me the most was some physical thing for like 1-1.5k.It’s just very passive that lots of things can easily inflict with 1 button tons of conditions on you and no way to cleanse it because they applied too quickly, and cleansing has cool down.
I just wanted to enjoy a pvp which is about skills and such. Not passive condition spamming with 3k+ armor and tons of health.
From my experience, I encounter more people using a power build than a condition one:
-Mesmer => mostly power builds
-Thief => almost only power builds
-Warrior => almost only power builds
-Guardian => ONLY power builds (I’ve seen maybe 2-3 guys total with a burning build using torch and whatnot but it’s garbage)
-Ranger => almost only power builds
-Necromancer => equal number of power and condi builds
The two only class where you clearly see more condi are Eles (~80%) and Engi (99% lawl).
I think the term “glass cannon” doesn’t even define your build anymore lol. More like, a “twig bazooka”.
Yes, it defenitely changed a little bit. It’s not in the middle, more like at 85% of the path now. From my experience so far, it’s been easier to land the blast. Don’t know really why.. I didn’t even notice it straight away. Took me some games untill it tilted :p
So I have a few questions regarding those sigils :
-I know that they don’t stack on the same weaponset but do they “stack” if they are on different weapon sets? (let’s say purity procs on my main weapon set, then I switch immediately to my other weapon set, can it proc right after or is it on a 10 sec cd?
-Can they proc even though you don’t have any conditions on you? (because I read that it could proc everytime you crit, disregarding if you actually had one ore more conditons on you, which is totally stupid if it’s really the case).
(edited by Ergolicious.1507)
I would rather say that Mesmers are currently way over the top with new damage increases, less Thieves/condi Necros playing and change to Sword #3.
Unless you’re a condi, tank or have tons of evasion and stealth, you’re going to have problems with loads of Mesmers playing currently.
/facepalm
The new cd on the aoe root elite is what’s making me complain the most. Of course the roots are killable…. IF YOU CAN kittenING HIT THEM because sometimes the hitbox gets totally kittened up or I noticed something else: you kill them or blink away and you’re still rooted in place for a good ~2-4 second – which seems to be a bug. Now when there are 3 rangers in the other team, that they all use this elite with 48 cd traited, it becomes QUITE annoying pretty fast.
Teleport only moves you, you have to use condi clear to get rid of immob.
No it actually removes it, most of the time. Elem’s blink, Mesmer’s blink, Thief’s withdraw too, etc. I’m not even sure it’s intended, the whole skill is glitchy as kitten.

Hello,
To me, the warrior favoring the longbow, and to a lesser extent the hammer, simply comes from the nature of the Conquest game. Both weapons provide area control, which are ideal for node control, especially with such a tanky class as the warrior. While the patch may favor some weapons over other, I believe that the game mode itself dictates such choices.
I’ve been playing a few PvP games yesterday:
- The adrenaline disappearing after a missed burst was never a problem. I was using Burst Mastery, and could find myself refilling the adrenaline bar fast enough in regards of most situations (also considering burst CDs, which already activated pre-patch in you missed your burst).
- The adrenaline decay is more troubling. That it decays is fine, that it decays that fast is annoying but manageable, that it decays because the opponent managed to kite you out of combat, then coming back in a matters of a few seconds, is definitely an issue, borderline a bug with the combat mechanics.
Regards.
Agreed with everything.
That build was absolutely overpowered if played well and cancerous beyond belief. Totally fine for me how it is.
#norevert
Doesn’t retal take YOUR own power as stat? I thought it did.
I’ve tried to trait confusing cry against those nasty rangers and co but it’s quite underwhelming because you simply cannot “facetank” a rapidefire. You take way too much damage if you do (or die, straight up) as mesmer.
Personally I prefer GS rather than Staff because you cannot chase fleeing targets with Staff and that’s way too annoying to me. Staff is stronger in teamfights though. For the secondary weapons, I use Sword + pistol but I started with sword + torch (torch gives you way less damage but a additional stealth, which is quite handy for starters).
As for the gameplay, I usually engage like this : GS #2 and #4 + mind stab => switch weapon, use pistol #4 + #5 => then sword #3, leap => sword #2 => mindwrack+Diversion (just for the 1 sec daze). Then I improvise. That opening atomises glassy builds if they didn’t see it coming with no stun break.
Of course you have to adapt depending the situation, using decoy or blink to engage is sometimes needed for exemple(against a ranger who saw you coming mostly). Etc etc
Mesmer is really a class you have to play over and over again to get the grip of it.
Have fun!

You guys really only like Thief among all the classes? That’s a shame
It’s hilarious how wrong are such a large amount of Thiefs (even the OP’s top 50 whatever..). This build is actually stronger than before because you can now, literally, pema evade while still doing a lot of damage with your auto attack (I never counted on lacernous strike to do the dps for me before, flanking strike as here to close the gap/evade a big skill from your opponent… autoattack hits harder and procs more sigil).
This build has become even more cancerous and is even harder to deal with…. yet so many thiefs are complaining, christ…
In the end, a lot of Thiefs are leaving their char because of this patch because they don’t understand the change and that won’t bother anyone, on the contrary
(edited by Ergolicious.1507)
i think im gonna change builds by playing a different game
it’ll undoubtedly be weeks before the steal bug gets fixed (because it’s not a bug that lets people get gold without artificial timegates), and my favorite weaponset will continue to be targeted for no reason.
i genuinely tried to be optimistic from launch, but i can see why everyone quits now and why this game has lost the vast majority of it’s population in just two years: mediocre pve, careless “balancing”, anet’s complete disconnect from the community, and a rapidly worsening pvp environment.
It’s fixed already
EDIT: actually went in game to try it and it’s still glitchy as kitten. Nevermind lawl. GG anet.
Yeah this skill is very weak.
/facepalm
I ran on my Warrior quite a bit last night.
(1) I was able to retain 1 to 2 bars of adrenaline (sometimes even part of the 3rd bar) as I moved quickly from enemy to enemy.
(2) I used burst skills against enemies as I stopped being spec’d for using adrenaline as a passive damage/crit_chance buff.
(3) I still wrecked mobs even with just auto-attacks.
(4) I gained adrenaline at the same rate I always did … since that wasn’t changed … I just wasn’t always full and was actually using my burst skills now so it was noticeable when I gained adrenaline … as opposed to just ignoring them in favor of passive bonuses for having adrenaline … which is what Warriors have been doing in PvE since the beginning of GW2.
That was just in PvE.
In sPvP I was still tearing people up and being the armored, hard-hitting juggernaught that baits out dodges & cooldowns before punishing you. Then I ran into people that have been playing Warrior since GW2 was released and saw what a really good warrior can do as they wrecked me harder than I was wrecking others.
Amusingly, I wasn’t using longbow nor hammer. Some of them were. Some of them weren’t.
Lastly, if you aren’t able to use your burst skill on a mob, it’s because it’s dying incredibly quickly. Do you really need to use a burst skill in such an instance?
You should stop post altogether because truth is, you’re totally biased towards this class. You obviously don’t like it and play it only to prove your arguments, which is rather sad. No matter what anyone can say, you won’t change your mind about Warriors recieving too much of a nerf.
Also it’s funny because I played quite a lot since the patch too and I crushed Warriors harder than usual, clearly. Different perspectives huh.
What an absolute failure… Nice implementation Anet….
For me, going from 18k hp to 15k is quite a big deal, actually. I will try it out when the ennemy team has no thief though (or one).
Not sure you’re asking me or the OP but I mostly played torch to learn the buid, to get used to it as it gives one extra survability skill but way less damage obviously. It’s not really viable, I just like that extra stealth so much sometimes :p
I stay on GW2 because it has the best pvp I’ve ever seen (engine/technical wise). Not for some worthless Pve events…..
I’m switching between Pistol and Torch offhand for my shatter build depending what I’m facing. Torch 4 is pretty good but sadly torch 5 is so bad, maybe one of the worst skill in the entire game, that I often reconsider :/.
It defenitely needed a buff.
I’ve also noticed that when you summon iwarden, it decides it wants to switch targets and run to a different target. So..I guess thats not fixed.
I’ve noticed that aswell.
First, 99% of builds have this trait because it’s simply too good and considering CORE to the mesmer class (Hell, it could have been implemented INTO the mesmer design even).
Second, against competent players (see: no afk monkeys standing idle but people who will put pressure on you) and playing a shatter build, you HAVE to dodge to spawn illus fast enough.
Third, yes Illus die fast. I didn’t deny it. And that’s the challening part of playing a shatter build; summoning 3 illus asap and having the opportunity to detonate them all before they die. (the adren nerf on Warrior doesn’t make it challenging, it makes it barely PLAYABLE).
Fourth, you don’t get it. You’re saying Warriors shouldn’t complain because Mesmer have exactly the SAME difficulty to have Illus up, like Warriors to get adren. That’s wrong because Mesmers don’t have the same difficulty. Thus, the fact you say “You lose adrenaline outside of combat? I lose Illusions outside of combat.
You lose adrenaline when you miss? I lose Illusions when I miss.” is irrelevant.
If you still don’t see the difference, i’m sorry. I cannot be more clear.
EDIT: remember aswell that, Berzerker stance, the biggest adrenaline pooling skill has been batnerfed too (and it has a huge cd.
(edited by Ergolicious.1507)
I was obviously talking about deceptive evasion… Considering Mesmers have 50% vigor uptime aswell, that trait alone provides maybe 60% of the mesmer illu “pool”. And it gives a crapton of those. Again, the fact you can summon illus way faster than adren makes your comparaison moot, I’m sorry.
I mean, you’re right about the fact illus can get killed, disapears between fights etc etc but that’s IRRELEVANT.
EDIT: just to be clear, I play my mesmer way more than my Warrior. I’m being honest here.
(edited by Ergolicious.1507)
Another thread filled with “meh this nerf is no big deal, just gotta learn your class dudes!” hypocritical kids. Becoming quite obnoxious.
EDIT: Also to Sebrent, I get what you’re saying but you’re not entirely right. It’s way faster to spawn Illus than to resplenish adren (WAY WAY faster). Thus you cannot really compare adren with shattering.
(edited by Ergolicious.1507)
Ye not as if you had a 3 sec stealth on a 9 sec cd lawl. Not to mention CERTAIN skills which gives you either invulnerablity or a damage absorbing pet. Oh well good thing you don’t have all that huh.
Looks so boring to play, holy. Also what annoys me than the rapid fire buff, is the root elite cd reduction. That’s just bullkitten.
don’t bash it until you try it. the patch hasn’t been live very long. however, I agree that earthshaker is pretty much useless now. I’ve never found it useful tbh anyways. any good player will dodge this skill.
I say give it some time and see how it plays out. these changes aren’t final. people need to relax.
you can stop adrenaline attacks from activating by swapping weapons or pressing esc.
I understand the “dont bash it till you try it” line, but im experienced enough as a person, and a gamer, to be able to extrapolate, using the available experiences and information at my disposal, and come up with a long term projection that is accurate to an extremely high degree.
If these changes aren’t final, as you say, then all the more reason for us to be vocal with constructive feed back (hence my post), so ANet knows what tuning to perform, right?
As for swap-to-stop: So the proper answer to a bug, is to force myself into a weapon I may not want to be in at that moment, with 10 seconds before I can change back? (5 with fast hands). And that’s assuming I know the bug is even going to occur. it’s not every single time. And what if my swap is on cooldown??
Sorry, but swap-to-stop is just a terrible reply, for multiple reasons.
You cando it by simply shealthing your weapon aswell. The animatio gets canceled and you only have a ~2 sec cd without losing your adren. And to be totally honest with you, I’ve been canceling Skull cracks on purpose against good players, who used their dodges to only to get skull cracked 2 sec later because there were out of gap maker. Was a really good feeling.
But yes still, fact is they nerfed Warriors too hard. I guess the communinty whined enough about it and got what they wanted.
To all those people, just be aware that you’ll be seeing a plague of rangers now, which will annoy you just as much.
P.S. Also to the “oh that didn’t affect my build or my gameplay at all jeez lean to play!” Fact is you WILL miss some f1s against competent players and it will kill you instantly now. Stop being so kitten hypocritical while trying to keep your kitten intact.
And as the OP said, landing a f1 isn’t THAT much of a reward, it’s nice but the risk now is simply ludicrous.
It was pretty obvious the nerfs were way too harsh… Funny thing is that even Warriors themselves were like “Oh nice it will purge all the noobies from this class, it will actually take some skill now etc etc” when in reality, NOBODY doesn’t miss adren skills. And missing a single one may get you killed now so ye….
I actually think warrior has become the WEAKEST class from the strongest in one patch lol. Talk about batnerfing.
P.S. Those ranger buffs, holy kitten.
Can’t wait for the Mesmer ileap tweak and Thief nerf, holy kitten it’s gonna be good. Oh wait you mean, regarding PVE? Who the hell cares, wrong game dudes.
Well, at least it is absolutely, abundantly clear now what Anet intends to do with the game.
These changes highlight their direction and focus extremely clearly, so at least we are no longer left wondering about it.
/uninstalled.
Hello Archeage, hello Star Citizen.
Apparently Archease isn’t gonna be the holy grale everyone’s been hoping for, at all… And regarding Star Citizen, I tried the Alpha: the game looks great but it requires some LUDICROUS monster computer to run even remotely smoothly on low performance…
And I love making alts, I got 20 already. It’s really the only way to keep the game fun for me.
/facepalm
To the OP… I know this suggestion is not “harder content”
Then why make it when OP clearly states he’d like to see harder content?
So you people should just go find a solo rpg-like game if that’s more your thing instead if whining about how the pve is boring and plain in a game where the PVP is the interesting thing.
If only it was :/ Have you played PvP for an extented period of time? I have. It gets dull extremely quickly and looking at the numbers of players actively playing sPvP many seem to agree.
In other games like WoW I came for PvE and stayed for PvP, just as you said but conquest spamfest without resources and cooldowns isn’t my idea of ‘fun’.
I agree that there should be more than ONE pvp mode but personally, I don’t play gw2 only so I don’t get bored easily. It’s the same for every game really, if you play it a lot and only that, boredom will come at one point.
From reading those forums, I think I start to get it. The majority of the people whining about GW2 are the ones who bought this game only for the PVE when it’s NOT meant to be a pve game. GW1 was ALL about pure pvp and Anet tried to please both ends with Gw2 but they failed (because pve in gw2 is EASY as kitten and has no challenge at all).
So you people should just go find some random solo rpg-like game if mindlessly bashing creeps is more your thing instead of whining about how the pve is boring and plain in a game where the PVP is the interesting thing.
(edited by Ergolicious.1507)
Pve threads… Luckily they don’t waste too much time on that.
Warrior isn’t my main, I play every class besides Necro. And I gotta say that those nerfs will be way too harsh. The fact you lose 100% of adren when you miss your f1 is ok, I mean it makes perfect sense. But coupled with the fact adren goes away BETWEEN fights aswell will render this class a LOT less strong, if not underpowered again, to be honest.
Sadly didn’t change anything. The issue keeps appearing and disappearing randomly. Thx for the ideas though!
At this point, I’m just hopelessly hoping it somehow fixes itself with the upcoming patch.
Well the main reason I’m using a GS in pvp for one of my two weapons is to avoid zergs. People have to understand that GS, as a fighting weapon, is trash. Mobility IS its main purpose and thus, 1v1’ing is way way harder. If you force me to run away, making me abandon the cap, you won even if you didn’t kill me.
You asking for a nerf because you’re getting annoyed someone escaped in WvW is totally irrelevant. Fact is (and has always been): the game is balanced around Pvp and GS is fine, if not rather weak, in Pvp.
