Could the UI be improved? Absolutely. For the most part I love the UI. It’s so unique, it looks nice, clean, polished, and most importantly, it’s simple. I think customization is great but the thing recent MMO’s have a trouble with is making a good UI. And for me, a UI is a big thing for MMO’s, like, really big.
If the UI is to be changed all I ask is to keep it simple and with the same art style (seriously, I love it). My only gripe (and it’s so minor) is the health orb. The health orb feels so plain, I wish it had more art to it such as Diablo orbs.
Also, the UI Plok posted would instantly turn me away from GW2. Dear god.
I did it (Feareless) as a zerker tempest sceptar/warhorn with conjured weapons. It’s not as hard as we make it out to be (and it’s miles less annoying and tedious than the achievement “Leave It To Me”).
The key is to do the most damage you can before your stacks get high. I got her down to 30ish% at like 20 stacks. It’s much easier once you start getting Alacrity as it really does make a difference. Near the end I just camped water for a bit for the heals (playing it safe).
CC, then burst as much as you can. Afterwards, wait for your CD’s while running around and then rinse and repeat.
So basically take out all the gating systems? :P
Laurels = your gating system
As PaxTheGreatOne already said, unless we are both wrong, you’re asking for a stat set that doesn’t exist in the game (see: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Equipment_acquisition_by_stats).
Perhaps in the future, maybe with the upcoming expansion pack, they will release a stat set where it goes POWER, toughness, ferocity.
Waooooo guys almost three years, and yet this problem it’s still here. I will not buy the next epansion after they messed up this with Hots.
It’s not a problem, it’s a visual nerf and a request from the community to revert the nerf. See you next expansion.
You are on the same server but are you on the same megaserver shard?
This is the likely scenario. Mouse over to his portrait, right click, and hit “Join in Mount Maelstorm” or something similar to that. You will end up joining the same megaserver map.
Being on the same server in GW2 doesn’t really matter a whole lot (except for World versus World). Even if you were on different servers you could still play with each other. It’s all about the megaserver system (google it if you’re interested in what it is).
1 . Tangled Depths – Extremely confusing, extremely intimidating (especially for a new player), even when you’ve learned it you still get lost.
2. Dry Top – Even after completing 2 precursors and legendaries, after doing mawdrey (which I believed needed geodes, not sure), after basically forcing myself to play that map I still find it a little difficult to navigate (though it’s not that terrible). Moreso, I feel like finding events to do is a chore in it of itself and the event variety seems non-existent.
3. Straights of Devastation – Half the kitten map is water, what’s the point?
4. Draconis Mons – I don’t really get all the hate that comes with this map but it absolutely can be a little bit annoying at times. For instance, after finishing all the achievements (which would generally mean, I’ve spent quite a bit of time on it), trying to remember/figure out how to get to Heathen’s Hold with my other characters was annoying. Also the heart at Heathens Hold, I wish there was a little more to do in order to finish it as it feels like it drags on compared to the others.
5. Desert Borderlands – It’s very big and too spread out kinda ensuring that fights are few and far in between. It’s also too vertical (I personally don’t think verticality is good in a pvp environment – also creating navigation issues). Although, I do think the underground castle is pretty cool.
For crafting I’d recommend watching a Youtube guide explaining it as it can be a little difficult to explain and I think a visual would help a lot more. No need to watch a lengthy one, just a quick and easy video should do the trick.
An in-game guild forum doesn’t sound too bad of an idea.
I just wish they would do a skin system for the tools. Buy a unlimited/unbreakable tool and unlock it’s skin for use on all tools of the same type. It could just be an extension of the wardrobe system. I thought they were going to do this when they released the generic unbreakable tools. They could do a skin unlock credit for players who have multiple versions of the same tool.
This.
I think a better (though more complicated) solution is to update the gathering tools so that every unlimited tool comes with an upgrade slot, into which you can put a crafted essence that determines what bonus reward you get when using the tool. (The Watchwork Pick and Unbound tools already come with essences pre-inserted.) Bonus rewards could include rare crafting materials (determined by the tier of the node you are harvesting), festive materials (snowflakes, Halloween mats), and map currencies. This method means that you can use whatever skin you’d like for your harvesting tools (indeed, there could even be a wardrobe specifically for tools) and still get the bonus reward of your choice.
And this.
I completely agree. A puzzle should be something you can intellectually figure out. Trial and error is not a puzzle – it is “throw yourself at it until you get past this part”. That isn’t skill, it is RNG like too many things in GW2.
This.
I wouldn’t consider rare to exotic a part of the gear treadmill, especially during the leveling process. Getting exotics is incredibly easy and the transition into ascended is boring. You’re just sitting there, crafting the required mats every day and then all of a sudden, poof, you have the best gear in the game. In my opinion it doesn’t feel like you worked for it. I think with this idea it makes you more involved with the process and as a result, more rewarding.
It’s like precursor crafting. With every stage you craft a better precursor (so to speak) until you finish the final step and the precursor becomes its final form.
As Warcry mentioned, I suppose the AR system could be considered a gear treadmill and it actually might be suitable considering fractals are PvE. With the AR system, it lets you do more challenging fractals. That’s rewarding isn’t it? You’re progressing your AR as opposed to just getting the highest AR with some time-gated crafts.
(edited by Exclamatory.8351)
First things first, I’m indifferent about gear treadmills, I’m only proposing this idea for mere discourse.
Right now we have Exotic and Ascended. Many, including myself really hate the time-gated format of crafting ascended. So how about the process of crafting to the final ascended piece was the gear treadmill.
Let’s say there were 5 steps to getting your completed ascended piece. With every step you get a wearable piece with better stats than the previous step. Thus, step 1 ascended would be better than exotic, and step 2 ascended would be better than both exotic and step 1, so on and so forth. This would ultimately mean that step 5 of the ascended crafting process would be the best of the best (and what we currently have).
I think it would be cool if part of the steps had some sort of exploring factor, similar to precursors, as opposed to just needing crafting materials. We can still time-gate everything but this way it feels like over the course of that month or two you are slowly progressing gear wise. Which, ultimately, is the goal; to satisfy those that are looking for a gear treadmill.
Oh how embarrassing. I did not craft it.
Edit: It worked. Thanks!
I have completed both “Frostfang I: The Experimental Axe” and “Frostfang II: The Perfected Axe”. I have max mastery rank (which means ‘Historian of the Armaments’ is unlocked. This is my second precursor I’m trying to craft.
“Frostfang III: Tooth of Frostfang” did not unlock for me when I completed “Frostfang II: The Perfected Axe”.
Here are two screenshots: http://imgur.com/a/yXvBN
If I want it, I’ll pick it up myself. I do not need you to pick it up for me when I run by forcing me to drop the bundle. This is even more annoying when you’re in combat and even moreso when you’re in overload air and drop the bundle (as it cancels your elemental overload).
Please Anet. This is too much.
Anywhere in the Northern Shiverpeaks. But I supposed if I had to pick 1 it would be Snowden Drifts
I’d like there to be more of a puzzle aspect to JP’s and less trial and error.

You are correct.

It is impossible to have your glider open while on the ground; it will only show when you are flying. What you are seeing are players that are wearing a “back item” (see https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gallery_of_back_items)
Some gem store gliders allow you to buy a glider with a matching back item but these are two difference items designed to look the same (see https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/White_Wings_Glider_Combo)
I just wish they’d do something with xp, like it used to be with hero points. Each time you’d max out xp bar you would get 1 hero point and bar resets. That’s how I got most of my Tyria mastery points.
When you are maxed out in Mastery points you still get XP and when you max out the bar you get 1 Spirit Shard.
However, there is a catch.
If you are maxed out on Tyria masteries then only the XP you get from Tyria content will be collected for that 1 Spirit Shard. But, if you are not maxed out on HoT masteries (for instance, you don’t have the raid masteries because you don’t raid) then all XP you get from HoT content is wasted.
So basically, once you max out your masteries (for either Tyria, HoT, or Both) all the XP you get is used to get Spirit Shards.
I don’t understand people that complain about kitten like this. “All my time is now wasted”.
Like, uhhh… Looks at WOW expansion packs
To the OP: Absolutely not.
What would it be?
Would it be the green, luscious forestry of the HoT zones?
Would it the sh-h-h-h-immering cold of the Northern Shiverpeaks?
Would it be a dry desert such as the Dry Top and Silverwastes?
Would it be a pit of hot molten magma and rock such as Ember Bay?
Or how about the the wastelands of Ascalon?
How about the calm, grassy plains of Kyrta?
Maybe you’d prefer the death and decay of Orr?
Is there a tileset that Guild Wars 2 has not implemented that would tickle your fancy?
For me, if Guild Wars 2 had only one tileset it would certainly have to the the great white North. Any map that depicts that wintery, frosted feel is a map that I approve of. My favourite would probably be Snowden Drifts (especially the gorgeous sight upon entering the zone from Wayfarer Foothills). Though Bitterfrost Frontier is looking might fine.
Another way of saying this is: I hate PVP give me the Gift of Battle for doing map completion.
You see how ridiculous that sounds?
I only raid and hate everything else, give me the Gift of Battle and Gift of Exploration for beating all raid bosses
I prefer the open style of the Tyria maps.
HoT maps are a convoluted, claustrophobic, cluttered mess, IMHO.
let me show you.
Okay, so I guess I should do the same with my computer on max settings and lowest settings now to show you that it happens on max settings as well?
This is very believable for me. A while back when I was flipping dyes there was this one instance where I’d submit a buy order and someone would outbid me by 1c immediately.
Coincidence right? That’s what I thought. Queue doing this 10-15 more times before realizing I’m trying to outbid a bot.
only time I noticed eyes showing thru the head was when graphics were turned to low…
I play the game on max graphics on my desktop and lowest graphics on my poverty laptop. It shines through no matter the settings.
This is seriously a problem. I’ve been trying to complete these achievements for about 3 weeks now.
It. Always. Fails!
Elite specializations collections reward an ascended version of their new weapons.
Requires HoT
New bloodstone fen rewards stat selectable back piece, ring, and amulet.
Requires HoT (or is it LS3)
Edit: Just thought I would make it clear.
First and foremost, this feels like a troll and a bad one if that. Secondly, I’m not addressing the second point; if a laptop can’t handle GW2, what makes you think a kittenty mobile game that no one will play can.
As per the first point, you need to realize (and seriously, do your research) that GW2 is CPU heavy. A beefy GPU is obviously going to help but if you grab a laptop that has a 980M in it, then it is likely that it will still not meet your satisfactions and/or expectations.
Maintaining a constant 60 fps is difficult to do unless you lower settings on a super computer (I could handle it no problem, but I like to play on max settings).
When you’re out shopping for a computer (like I said, seriously, please, do research) you want to find a good CPU that has good individual core performance.
What does that mean? Well, you can find a CPU that has 4 core but has bad individual core performance. You could also find a CPU that is dual core but has great individual core performance. In this case, the dual core is better for GW2 than the quad core.
To give you a sense of how not important a GPU is for GW2, I also play this game on a laptop, apart from my desktop. My laptop does not have a GPU in it. That’s right, it’s running off of an Intel graphics chip that comes with the CPU (Intel HD Graphics 5000). My CPU has good individual core performance, I don’t have a GPU, and I run on all lowest settings apart from anti-aliasing and native resolution (subsample is disgusting). I also run the game in 1280×800. With these settings, the game is absolutely playable on my poverty laptop.
If you want lower settings play around with the resolution, it helps a ton, believe me. Lower resolution will garner better performance.
Lastly, if you are interested (though I do not suggest this computer, especially for gaming) here is the laptop that I use, loaded with Windows 10 Bootcamp: https://support.apple.com/kb/sp700?locale=en_US
Hope this helped.

My mistake was wasting the 3 day head-start on a necro which I later didn’t really like. Started over using ele… best decision of my life.
I’m still tilt over the fact that my /age on my main is over 1462 days and not 1467 (in fact none of my chars are 1467 because I deleted that necro)
Clicking the item and seeing it being acquired provides a greater sense of reward to a player than it automatically going into their wallet.

Didn’t read the thread but I thought it was perfectly fine. However, I did it on my zerker ele and I blast finish heals alot.
As a 23 year old male who just finished university, I’ve never been more worried about the state of our world when the smallest of things constantly offend people.
Cant actually see the point spending a fortune on a laptop
Just like some people don’t see a point in spending a fortune on a desktop.
The GW2 Wiki is great, the GW2 Wiki is life, the GW2 Wiki is everything.
I actually like the adventures, including the Fallen Masks one. I haven’t done them all, but I’m getting to it, as I (finally) start doing map and mastery completion.
I’m full staff zerker (with exception to back piece, that’s still PTV). I intend on going zerker for back piece as well. When I do, and with the build I’m running I will have 56.71% crit chance.
Should I throw in 2 +5 precision infusions in there for a total of 57.19% crit (if I put only one +5 precision infusion it will get to 56.95%)?
If so, what should I use for the rest of my infusions? Should I just stack power or go for a bit of vitality or toughness for survivability?
Edit: With truffle steak food I’m at 60.05% crit without the +5 precision infusion slots
Edit #2: I’m also considering using a cheaper alternative for truffle steak, in which case I would need to add in the 2 +5 precision infusion to get 60.05%

I have a Mesmer and Necro. In my honest opinion, I don’t think you should choose a class because it’s considered the “best”, you should choose the class that YOU want to play. If you want to play a Mesmer, play a Mesmer. If you want to play a Necro, play a Necro.
Don’t let the meta decide your class for you. You’ll enjoy things more if you just play the class you want to play.
Follow this rule of thumb. Only 16 year olds that have plenty of time on their hands care about the meta. Just be an average Joe like 90% of the playerbase and play what you want to play. kitten the meta.
Once you go salvage-o-matic, you never go back. Seriously.
I think the D/D playstyle is fantastic but I myself am a Staff man. Always have been, always will be. I

I have to wonder if acquiring 1 Spirit Shard per ~250,000 XP is that game-breaking. It seems we already get something like 20 to 50 per level-up as it is.
Before the change to Spirit Shards, I had maybe 300 Hero Points saved; since then I have acquired thousands of Spirit Shards.
Again, I have to wonder if 1 Spirit Shard is worth the angst. Of course, that’s just me.
It adds up. I don’t know how much XP is needed but if it really is 250,000 then it won’t take much effort to level up.
Nothing bad happens. All your characters, all your materials, literally everything gets transferred over.
is it only free once or can you do it every 7 days?
I don’t recall if it’s free only once. It certainly isn’t free all the time so it’s likely that you do get a free transfer for the first timers
Edit: As a side note it costs 1800 gems to transfer
Nothing bad happens. All your characters, all your materials, literally everything gets transferred over.
Frost, snow, winter, etc. theme. I know there’s a snowflake glider but seriously, that thing looks like a 2 year old made it out of cardboard… Puke.
It is extremely heart-breaking to start the event from scratch, go through it and then disconnect when you’re near the end. I had a map last night that was struggling to get through the event because of so few numbers. Probably spent 1 hour 30 minutes on that map before succeeding. If I got disconnected after all that, I would cry.
