I’ve got an updated pastebin here, it’s almost done. Another question I’m sending out, I am trying to save the HttpResponseMessage in a private variable in my class. The console doesn’t change output so this variable isn’t being correctly set. Any clue why that is?

Email, password and session id. Besides finding a way to automate getting a session id from fiddler, if I am understanding this more, I need to have my email, password and session id on hand?
While I hate sounding like a broken record, Dryalkiel, can you explain what you mean by Response.Headers[“set-cookie”]? I don’t have enough experience to know what classes to use to do this. I was looking around at an HttpResponse class (something like that) in order to POST my information to the server (and bind this all to my user?). Should I be using a GET?
I understand this conceptually but not how to do it in code.
Your JS script calls the API controller on your own server: http://yourserver/tradingpost/listings. This when your C# code takes over. Your API controller first ensures that your server has a valid session, then gets the requested data from the TP service. Returning the data to your script can be as simple as calling ‘Response.Write(json)’. This is when your JS script takes over again. It’s not particularly hard, and I think you’re overthinking this.
tl;dr: your API controller acts as a proxy that hides the complexity of maintaining a session

I have a controller action (MVC – asp.net) that has a cookie set (gotten from fiddler). What I don’t know how to do in asp.net, I don’t know if you can help me, is get my cookie from the server and start making requests so I can get json data. This is what I have so far:

Yes, thank you for clarifying what I wanted to say. How does an API controller work when talking to the TP? I can login but I am stuck on how to get my GET requests from the TP to my code. I am loading up the TP in an iframe and heard you can send messages to get around cross origin problems. Currently I can access the TP, change the URL and get my data; how can I program code to change the URL and get data?
Is there code I can see?

Question that I haven’t found to see in this thread I was directed to. How can you log into the TP and make api calls? I’ve used Fiddler and grabbed my session ID. I’m getting an access control origin error when I try to GET from the above-mentioned urls (to grab item data).
I am trying to keep this simple in JS/HTML, is this possible or do I need a server?
Thank you smiley, I’m afraid its one step short of grabbing the json data – connecting to the TP online. How is the preferred method of logging into the online TP done?

The title says it all, I am doing this in JS (javascript) and am getting an Access-Control-Allow-Origin error. This is new territory (Access-Control-Allow-Origin errors, not HTTP verbs) for me and don’t know of a good route to take to access the TP online. I’m sure someone has done this before, could you give me some pointers?
I can find my session id and I know the url is https://tradingpost-live.ncplatform.net/authenticate?session_key=, and so I am appending to that my session id and posting.
I will post my code if that is fine / asked of me.

We had a good contest this night, thank you to everyone who came out.
I started this guild because I felt community events were lacking in Guild Wars 2. I didn’t feel the same sense of comraderie as in Guild Wars and so I made this guild to change that. I’ve also wanted to give back because, giving back feels good.
Find the Dolyak [Calf] is a guild whose name is inspired by the player-hosted event in LA we hold every week or so. The contest takes place in LA and we play hide-and-seek; the goal is to find the dolyak calf first.
The event has received very positive acceptance from those who participate in it. It is a great time to laugh, make jokes and enjoy the prizes. Everyone is always on their best behavior and its a fun gathering of players.
The event runs about an hour long. Past events have consisted of 5 rounds and a bonus round. Each round a clue is given to my whereabouts and the first to find me wins. Winners win gold, guild members win gold and a little extra prize.
Although it is free for anyone to play, I help offset the cost by offering a bonus to guild members who donate 25s to the guild bank (these funds go to event rewards). These members get a more-specific location where I am at = a higher chance to win!

I’m sorry but this isn’t a problem that you can prevent. We are given an option to kick players in our team, some people choose to abuse this. This is outside the game’s control
The problem of people “buying” the title doesn’t bother me. I am sad to see “player-offered” services such as running outposts and dungeons in GW1 disappear in Guild Wars 2. It was a closer community as you got to know the seller and form a group. Besides my rant on that, it sounds like you’ve got bad guildees who you run with. No one has ever kicked a party member of a group I’ve been in to let someone else in at the last minute.
Death blossom with 25 stacks of bleeds does fair AoE DoT, does it not?

I have created a guild whose main goal is to run dungeons. We are currently looking for players who will form the core of the guild. These players will form the foundation of community and knowledge base for the guild. No experience is required, as all who decide to become core members will be running, including myself, all dungeon paths to familiarize ourselves with the path of every dungeon.
No you do not have to be active 100%, as I myself am in school now and one of our members is in a doctoral program of study. I realize that not everyone can commit 10+ hours a week and because of this, the guild is no rep required, but you may or may not rep in dungeon runs. All influence gained if you rep will go to buffs we can have during our runs. If you rep during runs, all the more benefits will be yours, if not then I won’t think bad about you for not doing so.

Once your guest passes run out it has fixed the problem for me, it might do the same for you likewise.
I find running crit / power based build makes me more squishy than anything, as it should because I don’t have many points to put in vitality or toughness. Don’t get me wrong I love big numbers but I have moved towards a condi pressure build that’s been more reliable for me.
The big damage is very nice though, it never is a bad thing =)
Path 1 of Citadel of Flame is relatively fast (15min)
When it comes to leveling content this game is awesome. Events, no questing with npcs, lv to map scalling. It doesn’t even compare to Wow like games with kill 5 rats of this get 8 pelts and talk again with the npc. Individual resources, tagged mobs for kills and so on make this game very enjoyable to play.
And then you get to dungon part….omg. Was this even made by the same team? Did they even planned to add dungeons when they started working at this game?
Seriously they can make dynamic events that can scale from 1 to 20 players but for some reason they suck to bad at making dungeons. For some reason Arena decided to shove 5 players in a party to do a dungeon. None of them has a specific role so why 5, why on 6 or 3 players? There isn’t a need for tanks or healers so why 5?
The first big mistake was to say they dropped the tank/healer/dps. This made World of Warcraft a game with 10 mil subscribers and that’s what keeps it going, they have good dungeons and raids. There aren’t enough tanks or healers but somehow the game keeps going despite been 8 years old.
Without tank/healer/dps roles this game won’t end up well.
You start with the low lv maps and say this game is awsome, then you see the “end game content” or the awful Orr maps and you want to cancel the subscription. At least Arena had enough brains to no add a subscription for this game because it would have been another 1 month subscription mmo.
Three things.
Dungeons were meant to be played with five players because Anet has said that other games have five player parties and they don’t want to disband these players from playing content in the same group. It is also the case, in my opinion, that with five players you are able to have a good balance between relying too heavily on one group member’s actions to not worrying at all because “that other player” (implying there are more than an “skillful” number) will eat up the damage for me.
The holy trinity doesn’t ruin Guild Wars. It encourages dynamic play. A lack of the holy trinity forces each player to worry about their own health and contribution to the group. I think it removes some of the monotony if you hve played within the holy trinit structure – One person is aggroing, multiple people are spamming heals, and the rest of the party is hitting their “do the most damage skill.” I highly enjoy the engaging combat Guild Wars 2 offers (spare large scale WvW).
All the content is “end game”. You can enjoy a challenge and good rewards from level one. You will be disappointed to find “end game content” spare fractals or PvP or whichever your cup of tea is.
I play the thief exclusively in dungeons. I have been kicked once because the group wanted a “berserk only” party. Whatever that action amounts to is insignificant compared to the utility a thief can provide.
I run this in dungeons:
D/D (one dagger has superior sigil of corruption (condi damage on kill))
Superior Rune of the Antitoxin (-24% condi duration, +183 condi damage, might (x6) on poison or torment)
Apocethary armor (healing, +condi, +third attribute)
Signet of malice (works very well with death blossom)
Caltrops (good aoe bleed and cripple)
Signet of Infiltration (for init regen)
Blinding powder
Dagger storm
Traits are 0/0/25/30/15
Some of the traits are “assassins reward” (heal on init use), caltrops on roll, lose conditions while in stealth, ..
So the utility I bring to a party is superior bleed application (with death blossom), caltrops, and caltrops on dodge. I can also grant regen to allies using blinding powder (which also acts as a cover for a quick ress). Dagger storm is a great skill to block ranged attacks and give the team cover.
Don’t underestimate us.
I can see a polished and well-made guide when I see one. Top job mate! I particular enjoy the video showing combat across all professions, it’s very helpful. Well done!
So I love to run dungeons and right now I feel like it is the fastest way to make gold in gw2. (if there is a faster way feel free to let me know)
this was a long weekend so I felt like I should be able to make quite a large amount of gold running as many dungeons as possible. unfortunately almost every time I join a group on the lfg it ended up disbanding before we got to the end for one reason or another.
Im looking for 4 other people who are on fairly regularly and would be willing to run a large amount of dungeons with me to make some gold.

As I’m aware of the kind of guild I am looking for, I will skip to the chase and let you know what I have to offer to your guild.
- I have had near three months of moderately hardcore WvW experience over the summer (I was in Vindicated Honor [vH] who ran in Jade Quarry)
- I am available to run morning hours (10-12am) and night hours (8-10pm) US Central Time on varying days (classes limit my playtime during the week)
- I have a fully geared level 80 exotic thief. I also have a level 30 Elementalist and level 23 Warrior available for use
- I am able to use TS during the morning hours which I am on
- I am able to change builds / adapt as necessary

You should learn how to counter thieves instead of saying “nerf them!” They ARE counterable, believe me, my thief is my main.
Also, using CnD triggers stealth such that we lose it, only if we can hit CnD as soon as we loose stealth can we maintain it. D/P is a different beast though.
In all honesty, just avoid them or learn to counter. There are certain classes I can’t kill either, and I’m not complaining, I just move on.

stats changing will only be available for legendary weapons at the moment though.

The marginal attribute bonus really means nothing to me but the convience is something I would love to have. I wonder what the skins on these will look like?..
