So does this mean GW2/HoT/PoF require 50GB minimum? Or is it saying that PoF itself requires another 50?!

Yeah, it seems as though they can’t be upgraded anymore, however, if you do the reward track for the base weapon (or if you already have the base weapon unlocked) then you unlock the vendor to buy the mistforged hero version of that weapon, either exotic or ascended (just get the exotic, the ascended asks for way more and if you already have an ascended weapon of that type then just trans it). They require memories of battle and some other stuff.

Warrior answer to condition damage?

in PvP

Fox Reeveheart.1890

I feel like I have literally no answer against it.

“Cleanse it” – HAHAHAHA good one, ok i cleansed it WHOOPS it’s already back on.
“Block it” – shield block is like 3 seconds, and thats just against the initial hits, you’re still taking damage if it’s already on ya and you’re blocking
“Endure Pain” – DOES NOT WORK AGAINST ONGOING DAMAGE ALREADY ON YOU
Our only choice is berserker’s stance, and even then that just blocks damage already going on you for a few seconds.

I mean I see a guardian and go “ok this will be a slobber knocker of a fight and we’re going to be wailing on each other”, but oh no, suddenly i get pulled and some crazy condition damage combo goes off and it chews away my 24k hp like paper. Toughness don’t mean friggin jack. I then have to avoid that person the rest of the fight because I will not win that fight, and never do.

Big group fights usually end up as aoe/condition parades so I usually end up getting chewed up in those as well.

Mistforged upgrade for Hero weapon track?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Fox Reeveheart.1890

Fox Reeveheart.1890

So, with the patch came a new WvW track to get hero’s weapon, which is fine and all, but how exactly are we going to upgrade them into mistforged hero’s weapons?

remember, the old way was to spend WvW tournament tickets, mistforged hero’s weapons costed like 300 or so tickets (i forget), if you didn’t have that much you could get the downgraded hero weapon, then upgrade it using a gift of heros and some elonian wine and such in the mystic forge.

So I saw absolutely no reference to gift of heroes at all, Anet, where and how do we upgrade these items now?

1. Buy all 16 Balthazar weapon skins from BLTC
(with current prices that ~400g with buy orders)
2. Use them and you will get 7 BL tickets reward. That is ~57g per ticket.
3. Either save them for some future collection, grab something you really like or get some older skins and sell them to cover Balthazar collection cost.
(For example Dominator staff skin worth 2 tickets and sells for ~150g)

#1
sellers never sell to the buy order prices, EVER

i personally been chasing after some ley line weapons, and making sure i was the highest buy order in these, after 3 weeks i haven’t gotten a single weapon. It’s kind of frustrating.

This was at release of GW2, I thought I could get ahead of the game, that everyone was simply go weapon/armor crafting of the class they were maining, which for the most part was true. Being among those first to sprint to 80, there was a short time where I was able to turn a bit of good profit, because there was no stable prices on anything. Then prices went stable and there was no point in crafting anymore.

Jump to now and I realize I have almost never touched my jeweler crafting since I maxed it. I can’t think of anything you do with crafting that is useful.

Jeweler has no 500 grandmaster either, so that leaves it a bit in the dust. I sit around and twiddle my thumbs and scratch my head at times, just wondering what point I have for jeweler crafting at this point.

Am I honestly missing something? I’m dumbfounded on what I can do here.

You got profit at the time, and achieves and gear, and you probably went on to do other craftign professions so its all good is it not? You weren’t worried about it when you start playing, or 2 years ago, or 10 months ago – why now?

at the time i wanted gold, now i actually want to craft things for myself

Not “fine, whatever”. That right there should have clued you in to change your own plan immediately.

As for the AFKer, that sucks.

i only noticed they followed after i got into the fight with the enemy as they tried to take our home in the opening drive as well. at that point i had to commit to the fight, and I did change tactics afterwards, however this did not change this person’s mind. This happens after the first minute of play, he sits down and just stops and kittenes about his team. Friggin really son?

I just got into my first match of the day to do dailies

I call that i’m going home, nobody else calls anything, fine whatever, i don’t normally call anyways but I did this one particular time. 3 of my teammates follow me, which is odd but fine, whatever.

I look, we lost basically everything in the first 30 seconds, I look over at base and notice a necromancer just sitting on the ground, doing nothing. I watch as I’m running by (turning camera but not character), still not getting up. This goes on a few more seconds and I call them out. They say “Let me tell you something, I’m not playing for a moron team that all goes home”.

She then sits there the entire game, others follow suit with her somewhat but she ends up being this spark that has us lose 500 to 40.

I tell everyone to report her, HOWEVER, there is no particular option to report someone of this kind of violation. Is calling her team morons enough for verbal abuse? I don’t know what to put down. There isn’t even a box to put in specifics of what happened.

all i hear is “I want this game to further our agenda”

don’t push agendas in video games, no matter how good or bad your motives, an MMO is especially not the place to do it.

now here is one thing to consider, with all the magicalness around us, that “trans” NPC probably isn’t even “trans”, it’s probably full on transFORMATION, because magic. No HRT, no voice lessons, none of that. Just decided I feel like being a woman then BAM he became a she, and can go back at any time he/she/xir/xe/fur/attack-helicopter feels like. There is no “transitional” phase in this magical world, there was no slow transformation to a woman and having to deal with societal problems and norms, it was just “i’m a woman now, i’ll get used to this” that is the “transitional” phase if there is one. The whole “Suddenly I don’t have a wang anymore, I’ll have to figure this fleshy enigma out over the new few days.”

D&D had a thing like this, 2 of them in fact, there was an archway (of sorts) and a girdle of sex change. put on the girdle, your gender gets switched, walk under this magical archway, your gender got switched.

TLDR: agendas in video games, not even once

actually an edit: Nobody actually cares if there are LGBTBBQ characters in video games, I actually truly don’t care nor mind. It just seems like devs have to point out these characters and make a point to KEEP pointing them out at every opportunity like “LOOK AT THIS GAY CHARACTER! WE’RE SO PROGRESSIVE! LESBIANS!”.

A good example is the whole marjory and her lover relationship (can’t even remember her name, sorry i haven’t played in 8+ months). All you had to do is point out they were a couple and I’d have been like “ok fine they’re lesbians, whatever”. But throughout a good chunk of that scarlet living story we got those 2 constantly having to point out they’re still lesbian for each other. The worst culprit was the Krait spire event, the 2 of them standing on a hill with a few other NPCs and the 2 of them just have the most hammy dialogue I ever heard between any lovers in any game EVER. It was the blonde being all scared or worried and marjory all like “Don’t worry hunny bunny, I’ll protect you”. You just know there was a collective facepalm but a lot of the players who heard that. It’s this constant pushing this into your face mentality about pointing out these special snowflakes that ticks people off. They don’t do this with hetero relationships (at least not in here) You may get a line from an NPC thinking about his wife or his girlfriend, etc. But that is it, it doesn’t go beyond that, it’s brought up and dropped. Tha’ts what the equality should be, as perhaps cold as it may sound. A character (male) would say “I wonder if my husband is alright”, and then the NPC fades into obscurity like all other NPCs, anything else and you’re trying to be that special snowflake and the LOOK AT ME mentality. Don’t be that person.

HoT on discount sale when?

since before release, HoT has never looked to be worth 50 dollars to me, hell, hardly even 40, which is what the GW1 expansions costed (at least where i live).

but it wasn’t long after GW2 hit they started doing 50% off sales for GW2, so i’m wondering when that will happen for HoT. Cause I will pick it up for 25 bucks easily.

We Don't Make Grindy Games

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Fox Reeveheart.1890

Fox Reeveheart.1890

To the people defending the grind; Anet promised and sold GW2 as no-grind, no gating. That was what made GW2 special, better, and a pleasure to play. There are lots of games that play like HoT, and the old-school games are grindier. Except for GW1, which was less grindy than HoT.

So those of us who backed GW2, and enjoyed its different take on MMOs feel betrayed by HoT. What I’d like to see is the firing or forced resignation of the manager(s) responsible for this betrayal. I’m sure many of the developers opposed how this was structured, and some probably even got forced out or quit — HoT is a betrayal of the original company ethos.

There have been personnel changes in recent months. The CDIS exist only as memories.

This is not the same ArenaNet, I think, that originated the game.

I’d love to see them prove me wrong.

GW1: Bunch of nerds making a game with a fresh new idea of the time, was basically going to be the main competitor to WoW (which it failed to compete against WoW, but it held it’s niche spot firmly).

GW2: Draw your own conclusion. But colin still has the same goofy smile.

Lack of New Armor Skins

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Fox Reeveheart.1890

Fox Reeveheart.1890

Really?

Come on…take your head out of the sand for a second.

We got TONS of new armor skins during the time when there was no xpac.

With HoT, we don’t need a billion skins because we got actual content.

Ever think that maybe we didn’t get skins because the devs were busy giving us:
– Entirely new zones
– New progression for every profession in the form of Elite Specializations
– An entirely new targetting/control system (action combat system)
– Massive guild halls
– Complete new crafting profession
– 3 new Legendaries
– New legendary crafting system that gives depth to the path of getting legendaries
– Gliding system with customizeable and dyable glider skins
– New WvW borderlands
– Entirely new sPvP game mode and map
– Custom PvP arenas for guild halls
– New levels of Fractals
– Motherkittening raids

I mean come on…consider for a moment what it takes to create all of that and then consider that there are at least 2 complete new armor skins (not including the new outfit that you got for free pre-release and the new outfit on the gemstore) and several new weapon skins on top of unique weapon skins and armor skin for Elite Specializations.

If this dissappoints you, don’t ever expect to be impressed by anything a developer will come out with.

I logged on purely to rebuke you.

Let’s look into the past, to guild wars first expansion, Factions.

Entirely new zones: Hell, factions got an ENTIRE CONTINENT worth of zones.
New class paths aka specializations: Guild wars was a different system, they got a whole slew of new skills for every class, both normal and elite skills. And factions got 2 new classes, not just one.
New targeting/control/action system: thats a nice, but optional thing.
Massive guild halls: Guild Wars 1 already started with these in the core friggin game, and the actual “Guild Wars” in the game’s history were long and done many years before the storyline of Guild Wars actually starts yet there was an actual focus on guilds and guild halls, not present in GW2 until now.
New crafting profession: Guild wars did not have crafting, unfortunately, though you could argue that reputations “kinda” took the place where you needed so much rep to buy certain weapons and such, instead of grinding for mats you’re grinding for reputation XP.
New Legendaries and Legendary crafting system: Guild wars did not have as many tiers. Guild wars only went white, blue, purple, gold, and later green was added but was NOT more powerful, it was just reserved for “named/unique” weapons, red was also added but those were PvP only and, again, were NOT more powerful than gold. Meanwhile GW2 has white, blue, green, yellow, orange, pinkish-purple, and purple, and they all would be stronger the higher up you go.
Gliders: GW2 only thing, hell GW1 pretty much never used the Z-axis and there was only a jump EMOTE.
New WvWvW map: guild wars 2 did not have WvWvW, irrelevant, and was the change for a new map even warranted?
New sPvP game mode and maps: factions gave us new pvp modes and maps, yes.
Custom pvp arenas for guild halls: You could kinda do duels in GW1 guild halls, but I digress, I’ll give this one to GW2
New levels of fractals: A gw2 only thing, irrelevant
Raids: Who friggin cares about raids? I can’t believe how many people think they are the be-all-end-all. We had raids in GW1, they were called Urgoz’ Warren and The Deep and they were tough as balls, god I can remember spending 4-5 hours on one friggin elite instance just to get what was almost always just a gold item.

GW1 didn’t have a cash shop until some time later, like eye of the north? And even then it was quite small of a cash shop. GW2 went full blown cash shop craziness. And the black market weapons you can’t even just pay for in the shop, you have to PAY TO GAMBLE FOR THEM (yes i realize you can just get them on the exchange). I’ve opened like 2 dozen black lion chests in my years of playing this since release, and to my entire account i have 2 ticket shreds, you think I want to blow money on gambling in this game?

I’ll be perfectly honest, GW1 shows it’s age, all they had to do was keep with the spirit of GW1 but just modernize the tech and a lot of people would have been made very happy. If GW1 was re-mastered I would give real thought to just going back to that.

GW2 devs lost their balls somewhere along the way and just completely took out anything relating to factions cause, despite them wanting to be oh so progressive and diverse, the korean company that owns their kitten doesn’t like asian diversity cause they all friggin hate each other, so the idea of anything factions was just insulting to them so NO FACTIONS FOR YOU!

I noticed I started rambling so I’ll just end it here.

Why the fossilized insect drop nerf?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Fox Reeveheart.1890

Fox Reeveheart.1890

I decided to come back to GW2, champ farm, teq farm, get gold, all that lovely stuff, but one thing I wanted to do was continue on my collection of ambrite weapons.

I had 3 drop early on when it first came out, but I was reaching the point I wanted to stop for a while and go to another game, well the same thing happened with that game so now I’m back here.

Anyways, I been counting how many keys I been using with not a single fossilized insect drop ever since I started noticing that none are dropping. I’m well past 50 now and the only way I’ve added more to my collection is through the pvp reward track of dry top and I HATE pvp, but it gives you a guaranteed fossil after like 30-something matches

I’ve also been getting everything BUT a insect drop, i’ve gotten so many useless nomad recipies that sell for nothing, and a small number of obby shards (meh).

In fact, to top it off, piles of sand are dropping the silverwastes bandit keys at a rate of 3 to 1 over zephyrite keys.

And while I might expect some “that’s life” or maybe some sort of entitlement post, I would also point out that you need to go through this SIXTEEN TIMES to get the complete collection.

was fun, was partly what made me finally start that youtube channel I been wanting to do FOREVER

edit: also, the content is hard enough. Yeah it’s probably easy if you’re min/maxxed out and you run the same thing over and over again. But a casual player that plays in long bursts then takes a multi month break (like me) doesn’t get that kind of easyness to his gameplay, it all stays difficult, all the time.

I hope Anet learned from that debacle, people honestly wouldn’t care if characters are gay or bi or lesbians or transgender or w/e, as long as you don’t make a friggin spectacle of it.

new trans character: “Yeah I was a guy, I’m a girl now”
That is fine

Marjory and kasmeer: “OH I LOVE YOU HUNNY BUNNY I WONT LET THEM HURT YOU KISSY KISSY FACE.”
That was just awful, and we had to endure it for weeks, and no it’s nothing against them, this is bad dialogue for ANY sexual orientation, it’s awful cringe-worthy dialogue and frankly I am OFFENDED by such awful dialogue more than anything else and the writers should be ashamed.

What happened to my tanking?

I actually liked tanking in pvp. I used to be able to build as a cap holder and be a staunch defender of a point. This update now has GUARDIANS ripping me a new one, the kitten support class is tearing through me. I hardly last 10 seconds anymore as a tank warrior. Yeah the point was that I would eventually fall but they’d have to actually work to put me down. Now friggin guardians are teleporting next to me and unleashing a hell that all the toughness and hp in the world doesn’t seem to be helping with. And yes I know they got things like burning so I even worked berserker stance into my slot, but to really no avail, they seem to be building a ton of damage as well and yet nothing seems to stop it.

Mace main hand, yes or no?

in Warrior

Posted by: Fox Reeveheart.1890

Fox Reeveheart.1890

There are so many trait set ups you can go with the Mace-main hand

20/0/30/0/20
10/0/30/0/30
0/20/30/0/20
0/25/25/0/20
0/30/20/0/20

etc….

I could give you all the pros and cons of each, but that would take a lot of time. So let me just talk about the mace in general.

In general, most people run with mace+shield/greatsword, which is probably the best setup you could go with. It has been nerfed in the past but it is still a decent build and deadly if played right. It tends to shine in small group roaming scenarios where you can easily take somebody out of the fight with your 3 second stun.

However it isn’t without its inherent weaknesses. The mace auto-attack chain is fairly slow. The #2, while decent if traited for reflect projectiles and blocking a major hit, you will rarely get off the counterattack although it hits hard. The #3 is OK. The F1 stun is fairly easy to dodge in my opinion and being kited can be an issue. Stability and lots of aegis and blocking, along with stealth and teleports can render this build fairly useless in certain situations. It can be easily countered because too much of this build is reliant on the mace stun. You play this build realizing that you will be countered by other classes like thieves, mesmers, engis, etc.

I think people have realized this and have moved away from this build, although you will see the odd warrior once in a while with this weapon set.

See, your explanation basically just tells me that the main-hand mace is mainly just used as a set-up weapon and nothing more. The swing is too slow compared to the sword and the combo on the last hit is especially slow. My thing is that I want to actually bash some heads with the mace, I am seeing that isn’t really the case. I see 2-3 different traits for damage against weakened foes and increased mace damage, but it’s INCREDIBLY hard to get that 3rd mace attack to actually hit. I don’t think anet had every fight becoming so mobile as time went out, they figured everyone would bash each other with an occasional dodge. If anything it’s actually really hard to hit any mace skill without some sort of set up.

this is awful, what you’re doing is actually making it that people WON’T come to transfer to these servers.

It’s saying “These people won’t be getting the weapon.” then you say “you have 8 weeks to recruit, etc.”

But you’re not helping us recruit with your post.

After our strong showing in the first week everyone is STILL placing Ebay as 2nd to last? WHY?

Have a little more faith in us than that.

in big zergs yes, but i’m talking small skirmishes, less than 10 folks per side

a thief jumps on a guy, downs him, suddenly aoe stealth field and you can’t stop him from finishing off your ally. I mean what counterplay is there to that?

as per title. How unfair is it that you see an ally being downed and then suddenly the thief goes stealth and can literally just finish off without you being able to stop them?

24 NA servers but only 9 places for tourney?

It is really strange that there is no explanation on how this tourney works, beside that info about new swiss-style matchups. No tourney leaderboards, nothing. Am I missing something here?

Based on latest WvW blog posts, you can not tell how servers are divided in leagues. We can only guess it is the same as last year’s tourney. That really looks unprofessional and halfbaked if you ask me…

Rebuilding Ehmry Bay

Fox Reeveheart.1890

Been playing since launch, heck since beta weekends and the 3-day headstart.

Always been on Ehmry Bay, BUT I am a PvE player, always have been. So take this from a guy who is really seeing his server’s WvWvW capability for the first time. I want one of those mistforged weapons so I am jumping into WvW for the next few weeks.

Last 2 nights, especially yesterday when I was on nearly all day, I ran around with various zergs and small strike forces. I will say with an unbiased opinion (remember, I never really been a WvW player, I just want the mistforged weapon) that I seen Ebay’s prowess on the battlefield and it’s amazing. At the time of writing this I am only rank 18 and only been doing WvW hard for 2 days now.

More than one person has said that Ebay can and has taken on zergs 2-3 times their size and it’s absolutely true. I seen it with my own eyes and participated in it. It’s only on occasion do they get wiped but most times it’s either a strategic retreat only to come back later or hit them again, or we route them. Even I am skeptical when I see it. I noted myself as saying “We can’t fight that!” but they stay and they win the fight, to me I just don’t understand it. What I think happened is many of the folks jumped ship to other servers and those that were left behind were the absolute best at what they do. People actually listen to commanders during sieges and skirmishes. Nobody on our side really engages until the commander yells push then you just see the wave roll over the enemy. They know when and when not to fight.

Am I missing something? I can’t seem to find info on just how this tourney is run besides that it’s a “swiss” style tourney and what the rewards are.

A New Shatterer experience

here is the thing, if you make shatterer as hard as triple wurms or the new teq…

NOBODY WOULD EVER DO SHATTERER!

I am on ehmry bay, population very high

nobody ever ever EVER does those 2 bosses. They put those bosses on steroids and then overdosed them with hard drugs. I hear only a single guild actually does teq on the entirety of our server and I never hear of schedules to fight the three jungle wurms.

People only do shatterer these days as part of a world boss train for ascended mats, as most world bosses don’t have great drops to begin with. You don’t go on these trains hoping for some cool awesome drop. You get drops, salvage those made of mats worth cash on TP, sell the rest, collect dragonite, then move on.

Looking ahead in 2013?? New legendaries?

“Legendary Gear and Precursors
We aren’t quite ready to go into all the details here, but what I can say is you will see a specific way to build precursor items on your way to a legendary. On top of this, you’ll also see new legendary weapons and new types of legendary gear in 2013. Building your precursor will require a large amount of the new crafting material rewards listed above, 500 in crafting, and likely a combination of other items earned for completing more specific content in the game.”

Soooooo whatever happened to that?

Nowhere do they have in plain english “Dyes you have already unlocked on one character will become account bound”

It’s on the video https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-wardrobe-system/ in very plain english: Dyes are now account bound, each of the dyes you’ve collected on your characters is now available for use

See now they need to put that actual writing onto the friggin site here.

I’m going to bookmark this page just incase this is not the case on april 15th and WOOPS gotta unlock the dyes at least one more time. Because he doesn’t say those that you gotten will retroactively become account bound.

Nowhere do they have in plain english “Dyes you have already unlocked on one character will become account bound”, and frankly I am getting different opinions back and forth on the issue and nobody has a answer with actual facts.

What we do know is that if a specific dye color is unlocked on more than one character, we will receive a unidentified dye for each duplicate. But again, there is NOTHING in anything I have read so far that says, again “Dyes you have already unlocked on one character will become account bound” as in unlocked then across all characters.

So with such horrible ambiguity, do I just stock up on dyes that I want to use and wait until april 15th or can I actually use them now and not worry?

Kill mobs, get 4 rare weapons, put those in forge, get precursor, profit. I got 12g and after this operation i got almost 650g.

I been doing that since release and haven’t gotten jack. I haven’t even been lucky enough to get an exotic from the rares I throw in.
