The recent living story update brought a lot of new hints towards the future. One that I found interesting was a map of Cantha laid out on a desk in the ‘Hidden Arcana’ part of the story.
The map can be found on the desk in the center room where the magister is talking to the other scholars. They seem to be talking about the Deep Sea dragon. Could this be a hint at the possible future of us going to the long awaited continent of Cantha in order to seek out the Deep Sea Dragon?
One can only hope…
Id rather have the same holiday content as last year. It shows how much effort they HOPEFULLY put into the rest of living story or something else like an expansion or raid. Holiday events were supposed to be repeatable content each year anyways, with little to no change. They were to act as time fillers to give Dev’s time to develop new content.
That just announced the return, this new post gave more insight, similar to what they did during season 1, just no pictures.
Classic Anet. Doesn’t want to create hype by “making promises we can’t follow up on”.
What do they do? Create a ton of hype for the release of Loving world season 2 part 2.
Personally, I am all for this. Creating hype and advertising what is coming is the way I remain excited and passionate about the game.
I just think it is weird since this contradicts their stance on releasing no news to avoid hype. Hopefully this shows that are changing their minds in that and being more open to the community!

Ever since the release of GW2, Anet has strived to keep this game unique from other MMO’s. This was one of the biggest selling points, and led to a lot of hype, for most players (if I may speak for most of us). The problem with this is; while it may keep the game unique and breath life in to it in ways that some of us had never even thought of (Living Story Seasons), it lacks the ability to take inspiration from other MMO’s.
Some may consider this a bad idea, “I dont want the same MMO, I want one that is UNIQUE” I hear some of you saying. However, looking at what other games do well, content and community wise, is never a bad thing. It will only IMPROVE the way we as players can enjoy GW2. Taking what other games do well, and making them unique to our universe capitalizes on what content has PROVEN to be successful (raids, high end dungeons, unique loot for teams to strive for profit, risk vs reward type content).
Things to look at could even be taken from the original game, GW1. Perhaps introduce the Hard Mode, where even as some of us have seen in destiny could replicate a ‘No Res Mode’, where once the entire team wipes the instance closes. Content like this adds increased risk, and allows players to strive for success, giving goals and rewards for their effort.
We cannot have a game developing company that is only focused on ‘paving the way’ for the game industry. You, Anet, have already proven you can do this! What we need is for you to now take a look at what you can take from the MMO community and bring to us, but with your own twist.
From a community management stand point, look at RuneFest. This is a yearly event that takes place in England that revolves solely around the game RuneScape. Some of us among the GW2 community have placed this or even just heard of it I am sure. The game itself does not matter in this argument, but what does matter is the active steps in involvement that JaGex, the games creator, takes to reach out and speak with the community. Events like these give players hope, opens up what we could possibly expect, and lets you take ideas from players to get inspiration yourselves.
I ask that we have a discussion on this very topic:
-Should we take a stand, as a community, and tell Anet that we want content that has proven to be successful in the realm of MMO’s, despite not being unique to GW2?
-Do we want to have more open discussion with the developers, and stop being left to wonder the direction of the game? (even if Anet cannot deliver on this content as advertised)
We’re going to solve population imbalance by allowing servers stuffed with fair-weather players who transfer for easy wins to beat up on and close down lesser populated servers that are only less populated because of the bloated blob servers like…er…Blackgate. Not surprising which server came up with the idea.
This is surprising that I, a BG player, would suggest this. As the more hated server of the t1 servers, we would probably be the ones that are deleted because of a 2v1 that would surely form. But it would be one hell of a fight and I garuntees it would be fun. Fair weathers will disagree I’m sure.
This is the case with all tiers. Tired of the relentless beating by the top dog? This is a chance to find a way to deal with them.
On the other hand, this is a way for servers who want to stand the test of time to prove their worth. WvW needs a competitive risk that brings out the strength and organization of a server, quite literally fighting for it’s life.
The fall tourney failed because there is no risk, and no real reward.
Let’s shake it up a bit and solve the population unbalance in a more fair way rather then closing servers down just for the sake of it…
Servers placing 3rd in their respective tiers over a 8 week period will be closed down, and players forced to jump servers to one of a different tier for no charge!
You think your server is worth fighting for? Prove it!
On a side note, I am on Blackgate, but this is not an idea that spawns from that. An 8 week tourney gives jq and tc just as much advantage to 2v1 us and get rid of is once and for all! This goes for a lot of other tiers as well!

On top of this discovery, the placement of the triangles is also very resembling of the images with the eternal alchemy. (Specifically the upper triangle).
That the vistas map that is floating around that you interact with, is actually a map of Tyria from Guild Wars 1 that is fully mapped out?
Picture below.
Dredge.
A race that is the bane of everyone’s existance. They cannot be blinded, they stun you, and deal some serious damage. This race seems to be a favorite of Anet when it comes to punishing players (EX. past dredge fractal).
However, I have discovered the real reason behind the terror of the dredge… They are MINIONS OF PRIMORDIS! Minions of dragons cannot be corrupted by other elder dragons. Have you ever seen a risen dredge? Yet the abandon mines in bloodtide coast are clearly ex-dredge mining caves that were taken over by the undead, and yet none of them turned to risen?
I rest my case.
epic-ness! Good to see some positive respect on these forums.
I just uninstalled.
So, after exploring some of the past concept art by GW2 Designer Kekai Kotaki, I sumbled across some of his art on his Facebook…
Correct me if I am wrong, but this looks very Canthan too me (Perhaps even the Dominion of Winds), and in the background of one of the images you can see the Airships we know from GW2 (Image 3).
Image 2: https://scontent-b-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/t31.0-8/1979959_725924540773075_920942574_o.jpg
Vlox’s Excavations? I remember it quite well. I also remember questioning why I ever attempted it with Henchies/Heroes.
It would be interesting to see in GW2.
But if you’re trying to promote that Skipping and Stacking were a the preferred game play style for the first game as well, I think Shards of Orr would be the better choice to represent this (or even GW1 CoF).
Personally, the reality of the matter is more mobility rather than DPS (Based on the small differences in most calculations). I would gladly sacrifice 2-3% of my DPS to have access to whirlwind and rush. Also worth mentioning is the dodge Whirlwind provides, making for superior DPS on a target like Subject Alpha where you can whirlwind, as opposed to just depending on Reckless Dodge damage while evading his attacks.
Unless it comes down to record running, I doubt anyone would REALLY prefer 100% axe game play, especially when you can get similar or better damage output with a GS swap.
But if we really want to settle these things…
Why don’t we set up all of the “Meta” competitor builds and set which ones set the fastest dungeon records.. Yes, player skill will vary the results, but if you can get a faster time and be considered handicapped by using a “worse” build, well, I think you deserve to say whatever you want.
That’s what people used to clamor for whenever anyone posted an alternative build. While it was funny to watch people fight over the best records you couldn’t really get a good assessment of actual DPS short of having one group of the same people (to control for other factors) run every single build over and over a million times in the same dungeon.
If you look at Guild Wars 1 records, the best setups were developed by players theory crafting BOTH DPS output and ability of use. They did not present numbers that supported their results, but rather proved the usefulness of their setup by showing it can be more efficient overall because they know how to use it.
Basically, what I am saying is; Who cares about what sword is stronger, what really matters (and what should be the most impressive aspect) is who’s wielding it and how well they know how to use it. This is where the variance in numbers come from in active situations and is what makes the real difference.

Still no response.. All I have had were automated messages saying they hope to get to me soon! I know you guys must be busy, but really this is frustrating…
This was the last response, 2 days ago.
“Hello,
It’s been several days since you submitted your ticket, and we are very sorry that you have not heard back from an agent! The delay may have been related to high ticket volume, or it’s possible that the issue you wrote about is complex and has taken extra time to research. In either case, we want to apologize for the delay in getting back to you.
We’re going to flag your ticket to try to speed up the process of review and resolution. Thanks for your patience and we look forward to helping you very soon."
People need to stop worrying about the free charges. Anet stated that they will remain free until Wednesday at 11:59 PM PST. What does that mean? That the time stated is 38 hours away from this time of posting… So calm down.
Just BG cheating some more, as if it isn’t obvious enough that they can’t win legitimately and need to either use glitches or bribe servers into a 2v1 for victory
Someones mad >.>
Hello and welcome to the official thread of HYPE. This guild is designed to bring together players that share a lust for excelling at the end game content (Fractals/Dungeons) we are currently presented with.
What does this involve?
-Ability to complete dungeon paths easily in a 5 man team.
-Ability and drive to push through dungeons with less than a 5 man team easily.
-Forward thinking to provide the guild, and the community, with new ways on tackling situations. This includes Theory Crafting Armour, traits, ect…
What are the Requirements?
(These may be considered harsh requirements, but is in the best interest of the guild to find players capable or willing to step up to meeting them)
-Be able to SOLO Giganticus Lupicus (Currently on ANY Class of your choosing).
-Be able to duo Path 2 and Path 3 of Arah.
-Be able to prove your worth in a Fractal 49, be it in pure DPS Warrior/Ele, or Support DPS from Mesmer/Guardian.
The requirements will be talked over with the applicants, by myself, to make sure everything is made clear and make adjustments where necessary. However, please take into the consideration what this guild is asking of you (In other words, if you know that this is not a good fit for you, or you do not currently have the capability to pass the trial, please refrain from applying).
Thanks for taking a look and feel free to post/message with any questions.

I would love to see this return for people to have a chance to get it!
Why are players assuming that Primordius will rise from Lion’s Arch? In EotN, the chamber that houses that elder dragon is in the Shiverpeaks.
Its been 200 years, and he has the ability to shift underground. Plus Jormag drastically changed that area based on how far south the ice goes now, so it would make sense that Primordius moved.
I think if that were the case, there would been some other cataclysmic event would correlate with Primordius moving, because its body is basically embedded in the earth. And there is no mention of any of that in the lore.
There was also no mention of any “magical” force hidden beneath Lions Arch in the lore either :|

After fighting off Scarlet’s minions for hours, with no end in sight and our forces dwindling, Scarlet sends out her personal watch knight champion to finish the battle. Scarlet continues to sit atop her drilling machine, watching and laughing at the destruction…
With the release of her champion and the never ending forces of Scarlet beating us down, all hope is lost… UNTIL!!! The ground shakes, the water from underneath the drill drains out like water in a bathtub and THEN!!!!
PRIMORDIUS arises, completely obliterating the drilling machine and swallows Scarlet along with it! After which he claims Lions Arch as his new lair, killing anything and everything that remains in his domain..
And thus begins season 2 of living world…
Agg and SoS do not care about ppt. They haven’t this whole time during league. They’ve known that they’re not going to place, so they’d rather have good fights where they can find them.
TC and SoS has always put good fights on the table whatever tier they’ve been in. However, SoS just couldn’t keep the coverage during their variable rise and fall to T1.
Mag, kitten on them. They’re the biggest trash talkers and can’t back it up.
As for BG… Every server knows that they bought the guild (ZD) to be on and to be the strongest server during every NA servers (especially SoR and JQ) weakest timezone to sway league their way. Hence, they knew they needed to go shopping for guilds because JQ and SoR beat them week 40 and JQ beat them horribly week 41 leading up to league.
Everyone knows they organized the 2v1 on JQ. SoR played the hand they were dealt because they knew to get second they had to put JQ in 3rd in the first weed and do it again on the last week of league.
As for JQ, you’re the true winners. JQ, since the beginning of GW2, has been T1. That’s the ultimate compliment, because with guild shifts as frequent for a server the fall can too. SBI, SoS, and many others that have been to T1 can preach to that. JQ has won the most times out of any server. (19-1st, 17-2nd, and 19-3rd=55) The closest one to them is BG (14-11-14=39).
So no matter what JQ, you’re still the true, clear winners even if you don’t get 1st or 2nd over this politically manipulative league season. BG can have that win.
I like the part where you claim JQ as the t1 server since the start… when in fact the t1 servers at the start of the game were Henge, Isles of janthir, and stormbluff. May want to research a bit more before making praises to a server that only advanced to t1 after guilds abandoned henge of denravi to balance the fights.
As for the constant remarks about BG buying a guild… its common knowledge that JQ bought guilds in the past. They just did not buy a guild to the extent of ZDs. Not only is BG more efficient at PvE and WvW, were also better investors as well
I mean, lets be real here… We all know this is coming, so I will get the ball rolling!
Dredge gonna dredge.
awesome job, I’m actually glad I wasn’t there for this one because 13 minutes sounds awful lol
It felt like it was an hour of fighting just for that 1 kill lol
what does it even matter? No one can beat F/U TA path anyways.
MISERABLE! Absolutely terrible!
12 hours of my life I will never get back… How can you out DPS all the spiders that spawn. Dont even get me started on what you can do if you fail the first try! It’s like my character doesnt even crit on the boss…
Please fix.
I have this issue where my gaming screen will dark when put into windowed full screen, but when in normal Full Screen I have the perfect amount of light.
Is there any way to get the windowed full screen to be brighter without trying to brighten the entire monitor it self? As that would cause everything outside of the game to be too bright.
Pre-reckless dodge nerf I know for sure an ele could do it because Haviz managed to get him to 10% life in phase 3 before dying. The reason the reckless dodge may have affected it is because Robert stated that he was fixing “things like it” along with the reckless dodge patch. Not sure if this killed any abilities the ele had previously for getting out of the bubble.
But best of luck getting it done
Awesome job!
Just a tip for phase 2 AOE:
Use heal dodge back + 1 dodge then f1 or sword 2 back to lupi and you’ll dodge every time. If your heal is on recharge double dodge back then f1 or sword 2 back. Repeat for all of phase 2 and youll be left with 1 dodge roll in case of claw attack at all times.
You declared that other people said it was too hard. I retorted on that point, saying it was in fact not the case. There is nothing hard about this boss fight and I would give any such claims the same credit I would to someone saying AC story is hard. But since we seem to agree on this point, I really don’t understand what the point of you posting, or this thread in its entirety is.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m really happy for you guys’ achievement, and I am sure you are really proud over being able to kill him in one cycle too, but then it would be nice for you guys to show the same happiness for the people who can now enjoy this path without having to deal with an immensely tedious boss who serves no other purpose than to waste time and money towards repairs.
You say that it was disliked by a “vocal” group of players, but I’d say it was probably disliked by a majority of players. It’s kind of like grinding, isn’t it? When something isn’t very hard, but still takes a tonne of time to complete, you are usually not having fun. Right?
And you can deny your intentions for mentioning my refusal to run this path all you want, but given the context one might argue that it was to discredit me on this particular subject. I will leave it at that. There’s no need to go OT and bring up any personal issues you have with me or everyone.[/quote]
I have no personal issues with you at all gab. I’ve always respected your gameplay above most in the past when we ran together. The reason I posted was to point out that this thread does serve a purpose and is a good place to discuss with players about the recent change. Lets not forget this all started when you questioned the ability of another player, for what seems like no real reason at all.
I brought you up personally because you made a claim that strife believed this boss in the past was difficult, which is not the case. My point was that you once avoided this boss, for which reason I did not know till you stated it. But you still avoided it, which I just wanted to point out to discredit the claim you made toward strife (never to call you a bad player).
But I’m happy to end it here!

Point: Boss wasn’t hard, never was, tedious for those who never bothered going down. /argument.
That is a statement. I am still genuinely confused at to what the OP is trying to argue here. (I’m gonna discuss with you since OP seems not know the art of discussion, judging by his latest rambling).
He is not arguing anything, he is merely stating the fact that The Destroyer boss was made into a joke boss compared to how it was prior to the patch.
Example: I think lupicus is an easy boss, i love his mechanics (most unique boss in game with more than 5 attack skills). If they nerf him to oblivion / gut his hp / make his attacks tickle, I would say that they have turned him into a joke boss. An easy boss made even easier.
Oh, sorry. I thought there was some point to the thread.
Thanks for clarifying!
The point of the thread was made pretty clear; the destroyer boss did not need to be “fixed”. It could be done well enough before, but so much noise was made by players about it being too hard or too long of a fight that it was given a “fix”. Robert has stated that this boss will be looked at in the second phase of the dungeon fixes, so this thread obviously got some point across that maybe the nerf was too strong.
Also, its not too long ago that I remember you refusing to do this path Gab because the of this boss. So far I have just seen you try to throw words into other player’s mouths by twisting statements.
The boss was never too hard, it was only too tedious, and that is something Robert mentions in this thread as the specific reason as to why it was changed. A second change to it might very well be in the works, but if you think it means reverting him back to his old state you are sorely mistaken.
And yep. I did refuse to do this boss because of how horribly boring and tedious he was. That you try to make it come across as something else sounds very much like something you mention near the end of your post. Cute.
I never declared the boss was too hard, or that it was not tedious, I stated that it was simply disliked by a vocal group of players. Personally, I dont understand how people can find a fight tedious that can be as short as 1 minute and 30 seconds. Pre-nerf my team did this boss numerous times in just over 1 phase, having to knock off the last 1/4 of health in the 2nd attempt. So not sure why you as a player with talent would be against such a short, easy fight.
I never stated why you refused the path, you did. I did not make it come across in any intentional way, so I am not twisting anything around. Once again you are just turning words into a way you see fit.
Point: Boss wasn’t hard, never was, tedious for those who never bothered going down. /argument.

selling spots at the end boss should be instant ban. its highly abusive aka exploiting a system to the max… i cannot find a method in the game which explain the term exploit more then this :/
Well, fortunately for those who are doing it, anet said it was legit.
Ill take a run ASAP! 50 Gold PLZ!
Well after trying COF path 1 as recommended earlier, I can say it wasn’t very hard at all. Did all five runs for the monthly in under an hour. I only died a total of 4 times. So if a guy with no dungeon experience can pull it off just about anyone can. All it takes is learning the path and making sure to evade as much as you can.
No argument that anyone can be carried through a dungeon. Just tried s a CoF path 1.. was great till we had to get people to follow orders then no one could figure out how to stand next to a torch.
Sounds to me like player failure, and should be not be used to judge difficulty of the game.
I do see what you are staying but I think you are off. If you can’t find a way to complete at least one of the dungeons with each having their own paths inside and repeat it 5 times… Well then I just don’t think you deserve a monthly reward and may even want to seek out a different game.
Point being that there are what, 8 dungeons? All but arah, which has 4, having 3 paths. This, along with reroll ability to another profession that could potentially make dungeons more easy, and having the ability to have others help you complete the path… I don’t see how this can be anywhere near impossible but rather just blatant laziness.. So once again ill say it.. Laziness = no reward for you.
Edit: typo.
(edited by Fury.6281)
Well it is the elite end game dungeon… Just saying.
And you are a part of what social analysts would call a “vocal minority”.
WvW in my opinion is not a pve activity. As you face other players. So once again in my opinion, it does not belong in a monthly based on pve activities but it is there so i do it. And I guess you didn’t quite catch all the sarcasm from the last comment.
Edit: what loflux said is accurate. It does its job by making us experience different parts of the game that we otherwise may never try. The jumping puzzle monthly was an example of this.
(edited by Fury.6281)
Why bring a thief? Cause they can shadow step around and look bad kitten doing it! Need I say more?
May I suggest joining a guild? Perhaps one that has stiff requirements that you feel meet your abilities. Then you are likely to be around people that will be up to your level and you can avoid lfg websites.
50 gold. I really need to buy my way to that dungeon MASTER title.
Have you tried a sword with Mesmer? Greatsword with ranger works well.
You say skipping trash is "fun for no one ". I disagree. I find completing dungeons as fast as possible while being rewarded for the effort is a lot of fun!
People that are against speed runs fail to see this appeal I suppose. It’s about racing against the clock, executing the kills as fast as possible, and moving on. All of this while being able to survive running distances through enemies.
Fast runs are more skillful in my opinion over mindlessly spam killing trash that give little to no beneficial loot.
I like the idea of a timer . 5 minutes seems fair.
First off, it is 5 dungeons.
Moving on from there…
Dungeons are apart of the game! Just as much as gathering and crafting. It is the elite content that players are meant to be playing with their in-game free time to seek rewards and loot! Every game has time sinks, it’s how they survive. Don’t hate the monthly completing just because it makes you play content you are meant to be playing anyways!
Perhaps I should create a thread complaining about gathering, I mean I feel like it is such a waste of time to try and cut a tree or gather ore I have no use for! Oh never mind I won’t do that.. Cause it would be stupid..
Don’t complain about something that you alone find unfair and “too hard”. Instead try asking for help from the thousands that have completed the dungeon. Try YouTube, you can find plenty of guides there.
