I have same question but more narrow in scope: With the current game right now what would be the profession with best self healing that is NOT HoT unlocked (Core Profession only)? Will Warrior (core) be as good self healing wise as Berzeker is?
I got a character to lvl eighty but I have no interest in the game after that point and I’m looking to go through Core PvE open world again (no PvP of any type).

Oh it’s this topic again.
Yes, and thank you for bumping it and keeping the conversation going. I think it’s an important topic, especially when every new outfit/armor set keeps following the same tired pattern.
All three weight classes can benefit from having armor sets that show more skin for males. As someone mentioned earlier as an example, the norn can have really intricate body tattoos, but are severely limited in armor they can choose that properly shows them off. Same goes with charr fur patterns, asura skin patterns, sylvari glow, and let’s throw humans in there because they got muscles they wanna show off too!
I agree with the OP and their point. There does need to be parity in armor design and style.
However… I don’t want to show off my male character’s bare chest… not because I’m a prude but because to me the male body skeleton is wrongly proportioned with hips that are far too wide in proportion to the chest and shoulder width for an adventuring male Human. To me there is only one body type that looks proportionally right and it’s the body builder one, even the skinny guy has hips that are too wide and his thighs are far too thick for a skinny guy as well (in my opinion).
I have a theory why there isn’t more male human bare chested or mostly bare armor models… because they wouldn’t look good with the current male human skeleton variants except the body builder, and that would be a headache for Anet and Support ticket requests for refunds because of how they would look in outfits if designed similar to female outfit variants. I wonder how many time the designers created new armors for both females and males… evaluated them… kept the female armors and re-designed the male armors so they didn’t look so … perhaps “Sedentary” is the word I’m looking for here?
Not only would I like to see parity in armors and design like the OP, I would actually like to see the Human Male skeletons reworked so designers can make new armors that actually would look good without a shirt on.
And reworking the male human skeletons NOW? … well too late for that now, should have been done in Alpha … so I will continue to create female humans for characters instead of male humans because of how proportional “incorrect” the male skeletons appear to me.

Anet created this situation by how they designed their game, the server features in particular. A Dev Team is always responsible for their design, just like any other Designer/Engineer is responsible for their work. Anet is absolutely responsible as much as the Player hopping their Guilds are. Anet because it’s their design, Players because they are “creatively utilizing” Anet’s design.
However, Anet is making extra profit with how their design is encouraging Guild hopping, so I seriously doubt that in this capitalistic world Anet would redesign their game to fix the negative parts of the current situation. Anet cannot “buck the system” any more than any of the rest of us can.
And after reading some of the responses so far it’s clear to me at least some Players like the design as it is, so they would oppose a change.
I wish you luck with this situation JavaChips, but I don’t see any light at the end of this tunnel. I’m glad I no longer WvWvW. I know if I was still participating and had played to get better as you have then I too would be upset at the current situation.

Thanks for posting this. I was wondering the exact same thing. I took a chance couple of days ago and finally bought EotN and was hoping all the fun I am having also will allow me to earn the rewards for GW2. Good to know the rewards system is still up.
And I am so glad there’s no repair bills in GW…. I’m getting my kitten kicked relearning the game lol
I have an opinion on this I imagine many people will disagree with, but since Lion’s Arch and what it’s gone through matters to me as a player I will share my thoughts. I also realize this is meaningless since the Devs do as they please with no regard for the Players and their thoughts (It has always been this way in MMOs)… but hey why not share.
When GW2 launched and I first saw Lion’s Arch and learned how it was rebuilt from the age of GW Prophecies by Pirates and Sailors I feel in love with the place again (first time was in GW). I loved the nautical AND Caribbean atmosphere and made it my character’s home base.
Then real life stepped in and I had to take a break from GW2, and when I got back it was just after Scarlett had taken a blowtorch to the LA… and my most favorite of MMO virtual cities was ash and bones. I was as a player so upset at what the Devs did I quit the game completely.
Now I’m back and I see what they did to the place, not bad, but nothing to write home about in my opinion… tons of concrete and steel and fancy glass… Yuck. It doesn’t feel like a Guild Wars town, to me it doesn’t fit in the game, it kind of feels like some United Nations Staff members and their Pages walked into Anet and told them how to make a MMO city, it feels political and dirty even though it clean and bland… And all the while underneath all that concrete and steel is the ashes of the old LA, and the bones of those who died defending her.
In my opinion it would have been more honorable and more fitting to let the Jungle take back the land then to have the city rebuilt looking like a modern sterilized bland city. Lion’s Arch always had a wild spirit in it’s previous versions but now it’s been tamed and in the process it’s lost that something that made it special…. in my opinion.
If the Devs added use of DX11/12 to GW2 without forcing current users of DX9 to upgrade or quit like what Zenimax just did with ESO, then it wouldn’t bother me in the slightest to have to d/l a new client or massive patch. If some Players would benefit I’m all for it.
Frankly I think the current graphics are just fine for my tastes and I am tired and feedup with the planned obsolescence nonsense in PC gaming and the entire computer industry in general. To me that is all it is and I have had my fill of it.
If they want to add support and utilization for DX11/12 cool… add… not force.

Argh, OP idea of competitive is obviously different from the norm.
And that’s why all the salt. Sometimes changes are good. Old populations have to step down and let the young ones take over, it cannot always be old one’s game. But some are just willing to grip on with their last teeth and do whatever it takes to make the game as stale as possible and unchanged, when in reality, the majority of the population no longer wants it, it’s just the relics of the old ones.
And many times change is bad. Plan awful in fact… but the proponents of “Change” generally don’t want to remember those.
Changing an established MMO like GW2 this late by replacing cooperative gameplay design with competitive gameplay design in the PvE areas would be as big a mistake or bigger than the blunders other MMO Dev Teams have made that killed their MMOs (reference the drastic changes made to LotRO for instance as one example of how to kill an established MMO). Players that favor cooperative gameplay play GW2 in many cases specifically for that cooperative gameplay design. A change like this is not in the best interests of Anet or NCsoft, nor the current Players of GW2. It would alienate a sizable portion of Anet’s current customer base.
I would counter your suggestion with my suggestion to take your calls for change to one of the up and coming new MMOs that are still in development, a game not yet released that your suggestion can benefit. That is the best place for change to happen, not by changing what already is. Change, alter, modify what is yet to be, so that when it launches it can feed the need of those who desire what you do. That is productive and positive change in contrast to the changes you propose here for GW2 which would only be seen by the current Players that favor PvE as a truly negative and unproductive change.

It is from the Priory woman at LA saying they have discovered something interesting about the unidentified lodestone we handed in. Come see her for more info.
I’m paraphrasing obviously, but that’s the gist.
Thank you
The new event is virtually identical to the past 2 events, but you do get a mail about it this time
I wonder… is this mail about helping someone do something in Lion’s Arch? I was cleaning out my mail of the “thanks for exploring [region]” mails and got ahead of myself and deleted what I think was a quest starter mail. (I looked on wiki but I’m not exactly sure what to look for)
Can someone share the details of this mail please?
Legendaries shouldn’t be cheap, quick, nor easy to make. MC prices and availability are just fine; they reflect that concept.
/unpopularopinion
~EW
You’re right… Legendaries shouldn’t be cheap, quick, nor easy to make… and imo they most certainly should NOT be a product of a casino machine either.
To me that is what the Mystic Forge always has been and I will seldom use it because RNG is fine for trash loot of chests, but not for something like a Legendary Weapon that should be a focused and straight forward quest in and of itself to complete, not an outcome of a chaotic event like random chance.
MC prices under current system are just a factor of supply and demand, we agree on that. When more Players realize the gold they can make selling them then the Supply will loosen up some. Things like this ebb and flow in markets, even MMO markets.
I will keep my MCs though because unless Anet changes things drastically I will need to pull the casino machine lever and cross my fingers for an outcome that should be far more reliable than random chance.
/anotherunpopularopinion.
I need to say this about the Black Lion weapons… to me… in my opinion… they all look like kitten. I don’t like any of the styles at all (same goes for most armor in GW2 but that’s another topic).
Unless different skins are added from time to time I will never use the black lion tickets/pieces I’m accumulating.
(I’ve been looking for a thread discussing the BL weapons specialists and their wares)

New Elite Spec: Elementalist; Priest(ess) of Dwayna. DPS (Water specialization), Healing and Condition management/transformation. Not sure what to suggest for new weapon unlock.
Some will say “No Healers!!” but frankly Anet already opened this pandora’s box with Druid. Cat’s out of the bag. Add another elite healer spec now will allow Raids to fill the healer slot with an Ele elite spec instead of a Ranger elite spec.
Ok, you can shoot me now.
After facing the elite toxic queen spider several times now I can say with absolute confidence that I now feel like a total kitten loser. I can’t dodge fast enough, my real life reflexes, (mind speed if you will,) is far too slow and my character is a casualty far too often in the fight.
So no, GW2 does not make me feel anything but my old age LOL.
oh well, game is still fun once in a while for me. Keeps me humble. Keep GW2 as it is. I fail at it but like it at the challenge level it’s at.
Well, if you aren’t among the Chosen, you get nothing.
I will not buy HoT. I guess I’m invisible and unworthy of any future consideration.
Doesn’t matter that I’ve bought gem cards worth far more than the cost of that sorry, single demographic, feature sized “expansion”.
So you want to play full game by not buying it? That’s like playing old fifa and complaining of not having same advantages as those who playing new one. I said before…free to play is bad for games.
I am not FTP. FTP can’t post, eh? Whatever.
Yep, some of us can post and have not purchased HoT, I assume because we are purchased original game at launch so we aren’t classified as F2P.
I don’t have HoT, probably never will. I can’t play the game as a level 80, I quite literally do not have the player skill to do so (yes I have tried). I play Core only, what I can of it.
I’m not upset about the new free level 80 promo. I figure if I can’t make it to 80 on my own I should not “cheat” my way there. Besides… no one wants a player in their guild that just got to 80 the easy way even though they couldn’t make it to 80 the normal way. Not fair to those Players who have made it to 80.
So enjoy your new level 80s and the goodies and hopefully the changes are good ones for the Hots Maps. Have fun.
(just curious) but why can’t you play at 80? i’d say that’s where most of the fun is, and if it’s simply a lack of gear or understanding that could be fixed through a little kindness/inks to the right guides, there are a lot of us here on the forums who would be glad to help
I choose not to discuss the details here. Thanks for understanding.
I do not have HoT and I have the dailies show up and get four dailies all in Core. I don’t feel picked on… just glad Anet still gives me credit for being a purchaser of GW2 and not just a free player. Thanks Anet

Why do people like me say what we do? Because our definition of “trinity” and yours are different. Simple as that.
I cannot accept your arguments and you cannot accept mine if you dont talk about the same thing. The OP never implied your idea of what is the trinity system. The pro-trinity never said only the Druid should be the healer or only the warrior sould be the tank. We arent on a early 2000s MMO.
What is the trinity system ? It is a system where you have 3 roles : tank, DD, healer.
The other details depend of the game. Some classes cannot take one of this role ? Maybe, maybe not, it depends of the game. Are DD speced character enable to do off-tank or off-healer ? Depends. Hybridity ? Depends.
So you sentence “In a Trinity MMO every class isn’t supposed to be able to do it all, each class is specialized.” isnt universally true. It depends of the game.In a Trinity system not every class can tank, not everyone can heal, not everyone can do CC/Support.
In a game like GW2, it could be the case.
Anet won’t add new classes to base game like a Healer class
Why Anet would add a Healer class ?
We have already 9 healer classes ! The only problems are :
- they are not balanced
- they arent always usefullWhat 9 healer classes i’m speaking about ?
- Honor guardian
- Shadow art thief
- Water Ele
- Tactics Warrior
- Nature magic ranger
- Inspiration mesmer
- Blood magic necro
- Invention Engie
- Salvation RevLook at this trait lines. All of them imply healing. Each classes has a healing trait line, a tank one, a power one, a condi one, a global one (which should be an elit spec), and the elit spec line. All what the warrior need to be a “true” healer is some balance tricks and the capacity to be as usefull than a power warrior.
The definition I go by is DAoC’s trinity concept which was Tank/Healer/CrowdControl-Support. There can be more than one Tank Class, more than one Healing class, etc. These are the “aspects” I was taught comprise a trinity class system. In that trinity system everyone was responsible for DPS in addition to their primary role, or when dpsing like mad to finish a fight quickly, so no need to have classes “just for DPS” like later MMOs had.
When I speak about trinity system in GW2, it is exactly that. Why didnt you use this definition of trinity ? I used this definition.
But GW2 isnt like that. It could be, but it isnt. There would effectively only be one healing class, one tank and one dps, because for each role there would be one class and build that is considered meta, even if it isn’t.
Why it isnt the case on other MMOs ?
When I was a healer shaman on WoW, my healer spec was sometimes behind the other healers, while the damage spec of my class were sometimes better than other DPS spec. But I never be blamed to not respec DPS. And I did heroic raids, wich were more hard that GW2 raid.
Is the player mentality worse in GW2 than in WoW or what ?
I already described to you what I was taught was the trinity system: Tank/Healer/CC-Support, not Tank/Healer/DPS. That might be Blizzard’s definition but I don’t consider them an authority on Trinity, not their original idea.
Now for the classes in GW2…. what matters to me is the PRIMARY role of a class, not it’s specializations….
- Honor guardian…. Melee/Tank
- Shadow art thief… Scout/Rogue.
- Water Ele……………… Mage.
- Tactics Warrior…….Melee
- Nature magic ranger…. Scout/Rogue
- Inspiration mesmer…. Mage.
- Blood magic necro….. Mage.
- Invention Engie….. Techno Scout/Rogue
- Salvation Rev…. not sure what these are yet, but from what I have read so far definitely NOT a Healer/Priest as a primary role.
Are any of these classes a Priest/Healer Class as a primary role from level one?
No. Not a single one.
As far as I’m concerned, from what classes I have seen from other MMOs, none of these are Priest/Healers. Primary class role is what matters because that determines the thrust of how the class will be/should be balanced in any MMO. There are Class that have some Healing, but that does NOT make them Priest Healers in my understanding of the trinity systems of the old MMO, which is where we get the idea of a trinity system in the first place (and I would argue determines how far back to look for a definition.
Anet designed GW2 this way. They wanted no Healing classes, just every class to have healing skills. Those two ideas are NOT the same thing and never will be.
I wasn’t making a pitch for adding a Healing Class to GW2, that won’t happen. It would screw up the game royally now. I was pointing out People worried about GW2 becoming a trinity MMO is a needless worry. GW2 can never meet the definition of a trinity MMO as defined by the old MMOs the came up with the idea in the first place. Anet’s Devs will balance the Classes by their primary role first and their specializations second, or they should, and that is as it should be. (elite specializations being their own beast).
Now I have explained this again. I understand your point of view and maybe now you understand mine. They are not the same and perhaps never will be. We just see this topic from differing directions. Done here. Have a good day.
(edited by Gardavil.1762)
Only when the base game of GW2 gets a real healing class added starting at level 1 will I as a player ever consider GW2 a trinity MMO.
You dont understand what trinity MMO is.
All people saying “a healing class” or “a tanking class” are wrong.
I will repeat myself for the third time …
If GW2 would finally became a true trinity MMO, it wouldnt a healing class, but nine. And nine tanking classes. And nine power damage classes. And nine condi classes. Why all anti-trinity people seems to assume that a trinity MMO = 1 tanking class, 1 healing class, and the rest being damage dealer classes ?
PLEASE EXPLAIN MELook at other modern mmos, at least the half of classes and tank or/and heal. And GW2 would be the perfect MMO, besides ESO, where all classes could be tank, DD and healer, depending on the chosen trait line.
Why do people like me say what we do? Because our definition of “trinity” and yours are different. Simple as that.
In a Trinity MMO every class isn’t supposed to be able to do it all, each class is specialized.
Background: The definition I go by is DAoC’s trinity concept which was Tank/Healer/CrowdControl-Support. GW2 does this with the current metagame design of all classes contributing DPS. In a Trinity system not every class can tank, not everyone can heal, not everyone can do CC/Support.
GW2 has a Tank class pretty much covered in base game. GW2 has CC-Support covered like crazy. It does not have a true Healer class. Elementalist is a Mage class and is styled as one. Druid doesn’t count as far as I’m concerned because you can’t play one from level one on up.
To me MMOs are about both the journey from level one to end cap as well as playing the game at end cap. Journey and destination. No class fills Healing role as primary role for the journey and destination.
That’s why I say GW2 can never be consider a Trinty MMO. Anet won’t add new classes to base game like a Healer class so all the worry about GW2 going trinity is a moot point in my opinion. (Much of this is what I was taught by other Players and Devs back in 2001 and that time about MMO design so that explains where I get my opinions from. YMMV.)
(edited by Gardavil.1762)
GW2 is a Trinity MMO or almost? Hardly. Only when the base game of GW2 gets a real healing class added starting at level 1 will I as a player ever consider GW2 a trinity MMO.
I play GW2, but I will never allow myself to become fully captured by it until I can make at level ONE a true healing class like other MMOs have (e.g. Dwayna priest class base game). Druid isn’t enough in my opinion.
To me GW2 doesn’t need to worry about being insulted and called a Trinity MMO. It’s reputation is safe. I doubt Anet will ever add classes to the base game now.

I only use one or two of the male faces as most are either too old looking or scared up or too effeminate.
To me the females aren’t much better… to me over half of the female faces look way too young, almost child like, and I would be hesitant to ever make a female character with one of those faces out of fear of being labelled a pedophile or worse.
IMO Anet would do well to add some more mid 20ish to mid 30ish appearance character faces to the character creator.
This is my perspective on it, point of view and all.
Dude that’s a crappy thing to say…I’m a full grown adult woman and my face looks way younger than my human woman characters faces on this game -_- And if some one calls you that horrible name report them cuz thats not right and you could sue some one for calling you crap like that.
Then you are most fortunate. Life has given you a gift.

I know a lot of people are upset with some of the changes, but try and understand the reasons from the developer point of view and allow for some things to be readjusted as necessary.
some of the changes that people aren’t liking will possibly be further tweaked with hotfixes, just give it time.
The best you all can do is provide calm and detailed feedback like some have already been doing. It is possible that they had overlooked some things and all of you will do a better job at finding the issues than a small team would be able to.
Feedback:
Anet nerfed my characters into the dirt today by taking away almost all Traits my characters had earned. I am not a good enough Player to reach level 80. That’s right, I am not good enough at this game… but I love parts of GW2 enough that I had kept the game installed so I could return one day.
Well today I log in and my highest character, lvl 51 ELE has four traits out of the over 15 he used to have. FOUR. I was having a hard enough time as it is.
Anet doesn’t want People like me playing their MMO. Anet must want the Players that can breeze through leveling content to 80, which I admit I have had a hard time doing. Without those traits, and the benefits I each of my characters got from them, the game is now beyond my abilities.
These changes were great for the gazillion lvl 80s, but not good for Players that have a hard time with this game. Anet decided whom their preferred customers are and I am not on the list.
I am not rage quitting, I just realize I don’t belong here and there is no sense in holding out hope I might play GW2 again.
Feedback Given. Resigned from Guild. All Characters deleted. Game Uninstalled.

I only know why I stopped playing GW2, and won’t speak for others: in two parts…
Reason One: I started playing GW2 because of GW and how much I loved it… and it had Healers…. and I was fully aware, educated, and informed, that GW2 had NO Healing Class, just ever class has their own self Heals.
Well after playing for a while, trying out all classes except for Mesmer (I hate Psionics in any game) I came to the conclusion that I didn’t feel comfortable here without being able to run a Class that is a Healer by design.
Reason Two: I am getting older in RL, I no have a physical handicap that damaged my hands and arms, so playing MMO the way I used to isn’t working anymore. I can only get about 3/4 of exploration done because some of the locations I simply can not maneuver my character to like I could have years ago. Dodging? I don’t do it well at all to be honest, and the higher in level I climbed the more it was needed.
Also I loved RvR years ago in that other MMO, and I tried WvWvW, and even though I love it, I myself am nothing but an easy target now, I am just more points for the enemy Worlds. I am just too slow.
So what may work well for thousands of other Players was strike outs for me. That happens. I did enjoy myself but this MMO is not what I was looking for. I gave GW2 a good college try but it is me that is not up to Par.

Thank you Blaine Tog and Kratos. I appreciate you assistance.
Some builds to try out, a good place to begin. Time for some fun.
Thank you very much TheAgedGnome, I am checking out the first build now. I too fall into that post-half-century category.
I am looking for advice on current game mechanics and build for Necros, PvE only and No Dungeons. I enjoy open world PvE, I will not do PvP anymore (too old and too slow), and I really have no interest in racing through Dungeons like most younger Players seem to enjoy.
I see GW2 has had quite some changes, many affecting Necros…. and I am coming back to the game now and I see my Necro has had it’s points refunded…. so I need advice and I am not afraid to admit it
No one “needs” Necros anymore so I am told, but I love running one and I want to have a build that will allow me to adventure through GW2’s open world and enjoy it without massive headaches due to me not understanding the changes to the class.
I appreciate any help within these parameters I might recieve. Thank you in advance.

so what’s my favorite Jumping Puzzle?
None of them. I hate the darn things. Arcade and Console gaming garbage. If the rest of GW2 wasn’t so good I would have uninstalled the game by now.
Yes that was a serious reply. I hate them.
Love the rest of GW2.
“Kitten” is what the official forums censor swear words into.
Thank you for the explanation.
I would love Hylek or Skritt, but I’ve been told that according to GW lore, Skritt and Hylek are too ‘primitive’ and are ‘lesser races’ not capable of higher cognitive thought, and thus not candidates for player characters.
Kodan, on the other hand, would make sense and are also armored bears which makes them automatically 100% kitten.
Kitten what the heck is a kitten? In MMO terms heck I even tried Googling it that’s 1 I am not familiar with thanks:)
Umm… this is something I learned the hard way……. the predominant people in MMOs now are not “traditional” MMO Players…… we are being displaced and replaced….. So Who knows what the “kitten” thing is all about.
Kodan I think is a great idea for a new race, as long as it is done according to GW Lore. Make any new class to fit with that.
If new culture is Cathan however, as in we re-connect to Cantha again, then Ritualist all the way please.
This is how I see it….
This is a MMO, this is not real life. We come here to escape Real Life. I will not worry about how much money I make ingame or how much I financially “compete” with other Players. If I want to act like a “financial elite wannabe” I will do so in real life, not in a MMO. There are much better and more efficient ways to do that outside of Guild Wars 2.
If I want to make money in GW2 I will play the game and sell the good stuff on AH so others can get thier hands on it. That way others benefit and so do I. Mini’s are fluff and I treat them as such. That doesn’t mean I should be able to make a profit on them. I treat them as additional rewards for playing GW2, that is all.
I have no argument or objection to the Mini’s being account bound. None whatsoever. Wintersday is supposed to be for fun, like this MMO.
(edited by Gardavil.1762)
They certainly don’t require going to the internet, I and many others managed to figure out that jumping puzzle for the skill point/vista ourselves.
Oh and if you think cows are stupid wait till you get to the cattlepult…
You’ll be happy to hear that Orr has no hearts. Only lots and lots and lots of Risen. The low level 1-15 areas are an introduction and higher level areas have more enemies and unique hearts. If you don’t like Diessa, you don’t have to be there, you can go elsewhere.
Grats. You and your friends got that vista and skill point in Diessa. Well done.
I’ve spent over an hour trying to figure it out and gave up for now (was getting a headache). I won’t “google it” to find the solution because I consider that cheating, so I will try again soon. I do all the zones for 100% completion so I will go back someday.
I’m not complaining either…. I actually enjoy it. GW2 has some situations, puzzles, and objectives that I personally find very challenging and this makes playing GW2 much more fun for me than most any other current MMO. I am old in real life and the jumping puzzles can be very frustrating since my hands don’t work as well as they used to. Even with that I still am enjoying GW2 more than I thought I would originally.
Now if I could just get used to Charr being “good guys”.
(edited by Gardavil.1762)
Gee thanks for pointing out us “mediocre performers”. We do try, we try like crazy and some of us are very persistent… but sometimes persistence isn’t always enough. That doesn’t mean we don’t want to succeed as bad as you.
For some of us the Jumping Puzzles are just headaches, and I mean real headaches.
Just let us have our fun please without bringing attention to our shortcomings and all that. Thanks.

My character that I decided to do the Act 1 and Act 2 quests with was level 32 when I started and level 34 when done…. that’s how much xp I got from going to areas for the book quests I had not managed to get to yet.
Act 1 wasn’t bad at all, I was actually over level for that one (over level in the sense that the highest mobs I encountered were level 34 and I was level 32. Most all npc mobs were below my level in the environment.)
Act 2 is geared for a much higher level. It is not easy to make it as a level 30 something to finish Act 2, but it can be done. Your character will die numerous times and it requires you to try many different ways to get from one place to another to get the pages…. especially if you as a Player have not taken a character through these zones yet… one zone in particular can be tricky to navigate.
I was also very thankful and privileged to be running Act 2 at the same times as many other Players who’s characters were much higher levels… they cleared many, many mobs, rezzed me quite a few times, and without them I would not have been able to complete it. I am grateful for their assistance.
Try to do the Act 2 quest during busy populated times for your server. It helps tremendously. I personally wish to thank all Players that are helping out the lower levels trying to complete these quests.

Corpse dancing, jumping and other humilation tactics -- When are they acceptable?

If this bothers you then there is something wrong with you.
I understand that moral relativism, trash culture, and profanity are considered something positive today in Western civilization. Oldfashioned as some of us are, we still strive towards noble behavior, gentleman manners, and certain values.
So there’s something wrong with me because I disagree with this display of disrespect and intent of humiliation of other players? But if I treated other players like garbage only because they’re worse than me in a videogame, that would be “right”?
O tempora, o mores..
Yeah, there’s something wrong with you. Grow some thicker skin.
It’s not about thicker or thinner skin. It’s about each person’s idea of what is acceptable ethics and sportsmanship in a MMO. There many different ideas on that one.
Guild Wars 2 isn’t a sport. Here’s a rule of thumb for you: if you sit on your butt while doing something, that something isn’t a sport.
It’s pixels. Who cares… CORPSE DANCE GALORE….
Here’s a rule of thumb I use:
Who I am in real life is who I choose to be ingame also. No difference. No change. My character is pixels… my Character, my personality, my values, my ethics ingame are real.
MMOs aren’t a sport, true, but I consider much more than just a video game. Some people think it’s just pixels, but I have been convinced it is more than that. “We”, the Players, share this game friends and enemies alike. How I act, how I interact with others, matters to me, and I have been told matters to others. It doesn’t matter if it’s GW2, or another MMO.
How you play a MMO is your choice.

I guess I am not the only one scratching their head on this one.
Frankly I found the quest description confusing and unclear. Points for “mysterious” I will give it. Perhaps it was intended this way. If so then there will be players like myself that just won’t understand this quest and therefore never be able to finish it. (Fair enough, this is a mmo, no hand holding and I accept that. I love how Anet tries to challenge us more than other MMO Devs do.).
I have tried the scanner in LA as per the instruction in the mail I received when I got the quest, I have yet to see anything when I scan and the results have always been “mild” which is what they always are no matter where I scan… so I read that as a negative. I will try again today and see if I can scan when no one else has done so in that area for a few moments. Thanks for tip.

So my question to you all is…
When do you feel that post-mortem humilation is appropriate?
Never imho.
Personally I still bow to my adversary when I defeat them especially if I felt it was a good fight and honorable .I don’t always have time to do so, but I do not fight in WvW to humiliate people. I fight for my World and her honor. For me to act with no class brings dishonor to my World and my Guild.
I ignore those Players that have no good manners and simply respawn. I do not let them ruin my fun.
I don’t consider costumes using the town clothes slot as disappointing, I expected it. Where else is it going to go? There is no other option right now.
I would rather see Anet spend the man hours, the time, the money to fix most of the class and weapon bugs that have been documented and reported on. THAT to me should be the priority.
I understand why Anet did the Halloween event… they HAD to… they have a reputation for the best Halloween event in gaming. I am glad they did.
When Anet gets more time maybe they will add multiple “clothes skin slots” to the character options. Maybe add holiday clothes skins to the Collectables area so they can stored and not lost, so they don’t take up vault space.
- Cant find candy corn to continue looking for ghosts
There’s candy corn node like evrywhere, open your eyes?
There is a bug currently where some special event “items” are not visible to some Players. I and others have witnessed this a few times over the last few weeks. Happened last night with a quest golem in Metrica Province. Myself and other players could not actually see the golem we were supposed to be defending.
Perhaps some people can’t see the candycorn nodes due to this?
The event description in a subtle way indicated that Players that wished to participate in this event would more than likely need to use the cash shop. After I read the event announcement I gave up any hope of participating this year. Maybe next year.
So yes it was stated that cash shop would be needed in some fashion.
I am thankful that GW2 has this event and I thank the Devs for providing it.
(I will not spend rl money yet in the cash shop until a major bug fixing update is provided for GW2. No bug fixes, no treats for Anet or Me. As for converting gold to gems… I honestly don’t have the gold to do that. I got to this party late and am still looking for the spiked punch.)

I have accepted an Guild invite from the Glorious Badgers [GloB]. Time to learn, time to have fun, time to tear it up
This thread is closed (lock please)
My search for a Guild is still active.

I have been caught in WvW by Thieves with my Ele, my Eng, my Ranger. I die everytime.
It doesn’t matter if I am solo or in a group… but I am almost always in a group in WvW…. and the thieves themselves are usually in a group.
Of course it would help if my characters were actually real level 80s. lol
I came to the conclusion it doesn’t matter in WvW… it a thief gets you, he’s got you. Get ready to cliffjump again.

When I “planted” my first “mushroom patch” of Turrets. Level 15 or there abouts if I recall. P/P with Turrets is how I prefer to run my Engineer.
I love my Engineer because…
He is a more powerful Wizard than my Elementalist could ever hope to be.
My Engineer must have a big hat, for he pulls out of it whole turrets, built and everything, Ready to light the place up…. He pulls out more Medic Bags than even my old Infantry Co. in real life had in their cage at the Armory,…. He fires off more Ammo without reloading then even the best Hollywood Actors….He makes Big Boom go Boom and doesn’t get a scratch on his fantastic threads.
Lots and lots of explosions, enough to make my elementalist green with envy.
He feels so Monty Hall I just wanna slap my old DM and ask him why he didn’t tell me he got a cool job as a Dev.
Engineer is such a neat class… I hope they leaver it as it is.

This is what I have experienced so far with the classes and aggro:
(I am no expert and these are just my observations and opinions)
Engineer and Guardian seem to me to pull plenty of aggro and do it consistantly. That’s OK for a Guardian, but not OK for an Engineer. It’s why I no longer play my Eng. Engineer cannot handle the damage, and I don’t dodge well to be honest… I am no console gamer, I am an old MMO gamer; the whole concept of dodging in a game is new to me and my old brain and fingers.I am still getting the hang of it. Guardian seems to draw aggro, hold it, AND has the tools to deal with it. Enough said.
Now as for Warrior, Elementalist, Necro…. these classes seem to me to have the aggro mechanics right, not too much, not too little. I saw and experienced nothing that worried me. Necro and their pets seem to have a good balance as far as aggro is… whether the pets have aggro or the owner depends on what spells/skills are used. Imho this is as it should be… a balance. Same with Ele’s pets.
Ranger… this class doesn’t draw enough aggro in my opinion, and I think … mind you this is just my opinion… I think it’s because of two variables. First…. Ranger weapons, especially Bows, do not do enough damage as compared to other classes weapons/spells. I see a deficit. Ranger Pets are actually keeping aggro too much and my pet dies or is in danger of dying far too much. Second… since Rangers don’t have many heals, and the heals they have are HOTs mostly, they don’t seem to attract mob’s attention in this department either like other classes do. This sets Rangers apart from the other classes and I won’t say they are broke… just different. Ranger Pets to me seem to being doing the damage I would expect them to, so I don’t think there’s a problem with he pets. It seems there are Players that are making the most of this situation with Rangers and I am learning too now as well.
(Today for example I was fighting a boss mob with many other Players in a dynamic event, I was not drawing hardly any aggro, all other Players I noticed were drawing aggro, my pet was drawing aggro…. but no matter how fast I got off my attacks I wasn’t getting the Mob’s attention. The situation DID give me the opportunity to do continuous damage to the boss, without interruption, which was great… but still it did not feel “right” to me. I was one of the higher level players there, with better gear, and I still felt like I was doing too little.)
Mesmers and Thieves… I don’t play these so I don’t know how they handle aggro.

In a world where we have rifles and pistols, and bows – there is no real need for a cross bow.
That being said, bows are a ridiculous idea for engineers. Hammer would be a more logical choice for a new weapon set, as would simply creating engineer-themed kits like the ones I’ve suggested in other threads (golem arms, mega-drill).
I support these ideas 100%. Hammer would be a fantastic new additional weapon(fits Eng like a glove), and these other ideas are spot on for an Engineer too.
As for Bows for Engineers… No is my vote.

I am mostly a PvE Player from the US (gmt-4) on Devona’s Rest that is seeking a WvW/PvE guild there.
About me and my situation so no one is blindsided…
I want to join a Guild that can teach me how to be a better Player in WvW. Simple as that. I realize I have a whole bunch to learn. I stink at PvP in general, but I loved DAoC RvR many years ago, and I absolutely love WvW here. I want to learn.
My Internet is terrible (usually <100kb down, 40 kbs up) so requiring me to be on TS/Vent/mumble is going to be a problem. I have tested running GW2 and a VOIP program and it doesn’t work well for me except from about 6am est to about Noon.
I am loyal to Devona’s Rest and I will not consider transferring, so please do not suggest it.
So, I have what some People would call “baggage” so to speak. I am not the perfect candidate for recruitment, but I seek a Guild because I want to WvW and learn how to do it well. I enjoy PvE and I want my PvE activities to benefit a Guild.
Perhaps I can fit your needs as a member as well as Your Guild being what I need.
Thank you.
