This is a flaw with the system, but without the technology to distinguish between a genuine disconnection and someone abusing a disconnection to escape a losing game or to troll, innocent players will be punished.

This is the reason behind cumulative punitions. Someone getting a random disconnection won’t get punished too hard. However if you keep playing ranked games with your poor internet setup or whatever is happening, you are voluntarily playing those games knowing that you have high chances to disconnect. One should not be forgiven if he’s willingly tagging for ranked games knowing his setup is unstable.

IP can help a lot in new areas and in particular against things like the raptor and mushroom swarms. A vault with staff into a cluster of raptors not only kills a whole lot of them but can add a lot of healing.

D/P is weak on AOE damage and mainly single target

You can pretty much still use D/P / SBfor most content in HoT while you level up your DD. After that, you can use Staff / SB with dash to get around. 5 all day and it kills a lot of things, then switch to sb and kite a bit, then switch back to staff and 5 some more. That gets you through a lot of it LOL. >_>

You forgot to mention Anet gutted acro and s/d so they can resell them as elite spec. So no, at least for thieves it didn’t really bring anything. It is like breaking someone legs and then sell them an artificial leg. This is literary what Anet did with thieves in HoT.

Some time ago I requested for all your unconstructive posts across the thief forum to be removed due to toxivity and waste of space. Unfortunately only the one I directly reported got deleted.
But could you please do us a favour:

As an engi, I have (multiple times) tried to sneak past enemy players, but instead of tossing elixis S (stealth) I drop my supply crate on my own head. So much for not being seen! The worst was when I dropped it inside my own base. And now my elite is on cooldown. Yay me!! At least I can laugh about it, right?

And again… so it’s been you? Because I remember about a week ago while leaving the base I saw an enemy supply crate on the way to middle. So I asked “what all these turrets do here?” and a teammate answered: no idea, some engi dropped them and continued to run…

  • Remodel Track – rewards trans charges and hair kits / character kits on completion
  • Wealth track – rewards fixed price items to boost gold gain by a little bit (each reward gives like…5 items worth 10s each type of thing?)
  • Resource Track – As the track progresses, gives t1-6 materials and rewards rares at “check points”
  • Storage (Spring Cleaning) track – Rewards bags, black lion salvage kits, etc.
  • WvW track – rewards siege, silver, badges of honor (i cant imagine it being better farm that EotM though…)
  • Fractal track – various materials, fractal relics, and skin choice on complete
  • SAB track – (reactivate the bauble merchant) rewards baubles, miniature crafting items, weapon crafting items/pieces (these things are WAY too expensive on the TP, there needs to be a way to get these weapon skins)
  • <Insert Season> track – rewards similar items granted from event farming during Mad King, Wintersday, Jubilee, Dragon Bash, etc.

We’ve shown our prototype maps already for new game modes. Our current maps really are designed specifically for conquest. Trying to make a new game mode work on existing maps is really tough because options are so limited. Not to say it’s impossible, but I believe creating a map for a specific game mode really makes it fun to play.

you are so proud of this kitten map that everyone hates yet you can’t fix 4v5…no ready button, nothing…i am guess ready button would be too “boring” right?

My 2cents:

- No rezzing of dead players. There should be a penalty for dying. So you fight a larger force at lake tower , you all wipe in a glorious heroic outnumbered fight, but you also manage to kill 10 or 20 of them in the process. Now the bigger force will have to choose between fighting with more even numbers or regroup and loose the progress.
This will accomplish further important things:

1. Proximity of waypoints will confer an advantage. The further the bigger force are away from their spawning location, the weaker they become and the stronger the smaller force becomes. Instead of a larger(stronger) force getting everything on the map, they will get a portion in relation to their dominance in fights. This will also mean that the PPT will more accurately reflect the relative strengths of the servers.

2. Smaller forces can wear down larger forces. Even if you can’t win a fight, you can aim to secure stomps and kill as many as possible. Regroup and repeat. This will be especially effective against map-flipping zone blobs, since they will get bored of running/dying and move to another map. Now you can rebuild and if you defend your stuff, you can do the same with an even smaller force.

3. It promotes active decision making in the fight. Do you stick to your commander or rez an ally? Does the commander rez the numbers that just fell or continue the offensive. At what point does he do one or the other. Your commander sees that a bunch of enemies dropped, maybe move of slightly to entice the other group to try and rez then hit them hard to kill even more.

4. Stomping becomes important. Once a player is stomped, he is out of the fight. A groups coordination in this matter becomes vital. Decision making around when to stomp and how, becomes important. Where the people drop also greatly affects what the best course of action is on whether to secure the stomp or not. Did they all drop in one spot or are they scattered. Do you break up your formation for the stomps or not. Do you maybe position your melee train in such a way that you guard the downed enemies while your ranged players secures the stomps? The fact that stomps also give points is an added bonus.

- One rally per kill. Rallies only from players. Maybe only the person that did the most damage to an opponent gets the rally from them. This will also contribute to another common issue people have with WvW, which is that Melee Trains are too strong.

- Rally Cooldown. If you have rallied recently, you don’t get another rally or your chances of getting one gets reduced. This will also make it so that smaller group have less potential to give out rallies.

I deleted my thief for a few reasons:

1.) Trolls like those two, who are clearly trolling, are allowed to fill up an entire page of a serious topic with agenda-ridden lies plus 2 months worth of the same spam and not get banned.

2.) The developers listen to crying casualtastic baddies more than to the very people (me being one of them) who wasted most of their hours getting the most out of every part of thief gameplay. Since when is experience invalid?!

3.) The developers tried bull****ing us multiple times. MASSSSIVE +33% initiative regen (for a MASSSIVE 50% gain reduction)! Omg healing venom (a Signet of Malice for kittens on a kitten CD…. nope, venoms still suck. Would rather just use SoM.)!!! Oh and let’s not forget, we want you to be more engaged in combat so we made sword 2 unable to bypass stuns.

4.) Remember the last time we got a legitimate red post that actually showed genuine concern for the thief profession? I don’t.

5.) And then the mods dumped all of the thief QQ in the theif forums when they should have just deleted them.

6.) Then I get infraction after infraction for reminding scrubs they are bad players.

So let them damage the game further, I say.

I remember that in Warhammer Online (game I simply adored) devs had a similar view ’let’s give players some totally stupid content and a couple of skins every time they ask for us to fix some of the game breaking issues and not communicate our real intentions to the community by being silent on forums most of the time’, until players started getting sick of this corporative treatment and existence of the same starting bugs and issues after a good year has passed. We soon started leaving in scores and it was only then did they start taking us seriously, but it was too late…

During this mass exodus, WH went from 1.5 mill players to 300k in less than two months…

Pattern is looking to be the same here. I am slowly starting to be sick… 1st of – being treated like a sheep, 2nd of – game breaking issues no one is even remotely trying to look into.

Only time anet played a thief (at least from what i recall) was new fractal preview and all they did was spamming unload and being dead 90% of the time so go figure… don’t believe me? Check their stream.

As far as complains go, majority do pve, pve spoils players, they expect you to stand still and fight toe to toe which thieves can’t do due to survival mechanics… stealth requires you to use brain and predict what thief will do next… most people just wanna press 1 2 3 4 5 and win.

i disagree,

Conquest is the PERFECT gamemode for a game which strives to be competitive.

The only issue i see is that most of these maps they gave to us are SMALL, with SMALL POINTS, favouring tanky and fast builds among all ( there was a time were staff guardians didn’t exist, then Azshene).

After staff guardians, it has been a race towards fast defensive proffs ( engies, necros, rangers post buffs, now wars) for the simple reason they move fast ( aside necros), can decap, can hold, can kill.

All favoured by casuals hatred for burst and high dps and aNet granting their wishes with nerfs.

Foefire is a great example of the format which should be taken into consideration for a SERIOUS PvP game : gamechanging secondary objective, huge points, overall quite big map.

Other maps are simply bad, even Nifhel, Khylo and Temple ( temple being slight better).

The problem is not abou conquest, the problem is about conquest being unchallenging and favouring boring builds: having more maps like foefire ( layout) would really solve most of our problems with build diversity.

Lol, in foefire even a staff ele could work, mind you.

You can’t post a video of sizer and say it represents most of the population. He is literally on the BEST sPvP team EU atm. And is probably one of the best S/D thieves atm as well (since I haven’t seen anything from Jumper in a long time). Sizer is an outlier in the statistic.

actually it means that every other thief that can’t do what Sizer does simply needs to L2P. Sizer proves the build still has the potential to be good.

Balance should only be tweaked for players at the highest-level of play, because at any other level of play, it is simply a L2P issue. And while it is nice to have a semblance of balance while you are learning to play, it shouldn’t be a priority for balancing the game.

Thieves are utterly useless and I strongly suggest to reroll, unless you’re like me who’s stuck in using it because I have legendaries on that character. They clearly don’t any devs that play the kitten profession while “balancing” things.

No stability for thieves (and anyone who claims , stunbreaks that have a 50 seconds cooldown versus 8 seconds cooldown with 3 seconds stun duration. And they call it balance. And then if when we question why the devs do that or even point out the mistakes made by , the mods come in to delete posts.

There has been nothing but utter disrespect to the players. Why bother asking for our opinions, when the MOST important change to our sword skills will render the thief profession using the sword weapon to be completely useless, and make it even worse than venom sharing builds?

Calling it a balance patch and then disappearing completely from the forums, again, utter disrespect to the players. This is the period where players deserve your assurance that you would look into things and a PROMISE to change things.

Double standards seem to apply ? (I still remember a certain wvw incident), and I won’t ever forget what the devs did for the past few months. There has been nothing but a series of bitter rejections in regards to the decisions ranging from living story to the wvw seasons to the balance patch.

Promises to “communicate” better with the community have been nothing but empty words.

A thief who is stealthed is doing no damage to you. A thief who isn’t stealthed with “obscene damage” is about as durable as wet tissue paper.

There are a vast amount of skills with which to hit a stealthed Thief. All ground targetable AoEs, many cleaving auto-attacks, channeled attacks that are cast before the thief enters stealth.

Is stealth strong? Yes.
Is Death Shroud strong? Yes.
Are Eviscerate, clones, and (properly managed) pets strong? Yes.

Is there a counterplay mechanic to all of these strong things that make classes different?

I think you’ll find the answer is yes.

Also, my boss would like me to provide the information that you are approximately the 160,647th person to make a “[Class] is [Overpowered for some reason]” thread, and the 23,195th one to make one specific to thieves.

Yes, we should cater to bad players.

No offense, but the skill level of the medium thief on Guild Wars 2 is incredibly low, so right now we are already kneeling to the needs of bad players.

My first pg on Gw2 was a thief (you know, I played an infi for years on Daoc), and I’ve to say that is one of the dumbest classes in the history of MMOs, seems created just for people without brain (and this is the reason why I don’t use it anymore).

You do not like reality? Amen, but if you think you need skill to use a thief, I can only laugh thinking about your ‘funny’ concept of skill ;-)

And you guys think rotations takes more skill than resource management? See that’s one of the 3 greatest reasons why most of you who are complaining are called ignorant and then trolled.

Reason #1: Rotations vs resource managment.

Spamming heartseeker might seem “cheap” and “unskilled” but firing off 143255`5423` repeat (my take of the guard GS/H rotation) is just as mindless if not even more. But here is the difference… not only does my guard keep damaging, but it also controls the enemy until is switch back to GS where I refresh my boons and continue attacking. My thief spamming heartseeker, however, would be more of an initiative waste the more hp you have. Until then, I would be using heartseeker as a gap closer and save my initiative for Black Powder or something else that will keep myself from being chain-controlled. That is resource management and I have to keep doing that on the fly. TL;DR More is involved with resource management than with rotations.

Reason #2: Telling people with experience from a very inexperienced point of view

Metaphorically, you are a janitor telling a governor how his job works. :I We know how the thief works. You don’t.

Did anyone ever think about how utility-heavy thief weapon skills are? No, because they’ve never played it. Did anyone think that maybe the reason why thieves spam 1 of their 5 skills is because the rest are either weak or costly? No, because they’ve never played a thief. Did anyone ever think that out of those 5 weak/costly weapon skills that perhaps at least ONE of the skills focused on damage with a no utility and a slightly reduced cost making it the ability to spam for damage? No, because they’ve never played a thief.

That is why we say “L2P, roll a thief”. There is NO EXCUSE NOT TO.

Reason #3: I L2Ped while you kept QQing.

Example:

I was once getting completely owned by mesmers left and right. By rolling one and getting him up to at least 40 I found out why. Signet of Domination > Phantasmal Duelist > Magic Bullet > switch to GS > Phantasmal Berserker > Mirror Blade > Mind Wrack > switch to s/p > repeat.

Once I figured that out, I carried Blinds, Tripwire, 2 stun breaks and Thieves Guild. Killing them seemed like a joke compared to before because I ……………………… (wait for it)……………………….. learned to play.

So I have actually stopped playing Guild Wars 2 now because of balance issues. However, I find it hilarious that the build I used from head start is now considered op (minus a couple of traits as they have been added in). People use to ask for the build and I finally made the post showing the build.

It is a decent build, but by no means op. This is not the stealth mechanic we are talking about. There are so many things wrong with the balance in this game and people are just now starting to complain about Warrior stuns that have been there since head start.

Since every class has a multitude of stun breakers there is no reason for complaints. Not only that, but you can easily kite this build. As soon as they pull out the Mace/Shield teleport away like the majority of you can do (Necromancer, Elementalist, Mesmer, Thief, and Guardian if you know how). Congratulations you just stopped all the stuns.

To the Thief that is complaining… I find you very funny and you more than likely just need to practice a bit before you complain about this. You can literally shut down a Warrior with offhand pistol 5 now since they have super buffed blind. Not much skill needed to beat this build. Even then, you can stealth multiple times over in comparison to what Warriors can stun.

I only watched this thread because it is a joke and I find the comments amusing.

they need to change them so they’re deployed instantaneously rather than taking 4 seconds to set up. there should also be no animation when deploying it. just a sneaky thing you drop and then it gets activated.

If you’re using it to fight Thieves one on one you’re misusing it.

Put the same player on a warrior/guardian, and see how good they are in open field without stealth. TERRIBLE.

No-stealth Thief saying hi! I’ll challenge you to make a thief and see how EZ mode it is… The most squishy class in the game – by far. We are a profession designed for one thing – eliminating our enemy, and that fast.

Guardians? I created one, and I eat thieves for breakfast… Guardian is imo the easiest profession in this game. Never have PvP, WvW and PvE been so easy -_-

Guardian and warrior are the EZ-mode classes; no-stealth thief is hard-mode, I’m sure he hasn’t played one to know though!
