They probably altered a parameter in their completely contrived algorithm that sets the price.
I was playing with an alt yesterday trying to get my daily coin.
Its pretty much hopeless to try and complete a dynamic event while you are leveling because your only option is solo.
Im glad I leveled up a toon in the first month when it was fun.
Well other than the invulnerable mobs at penitent(the results of the invulnerability are even worse than before now) the current situation is better than before.
I agree.
I wear glasses IRL. Its more important to wear them when hunting or playing sports than it ois to wear them when hanging out with friends “in town”.
Gold is the primary currency.
Currency doesnt inflate.
The economy inflates or deflates with respect to currency.
Dont use economic terms if you dont understand them
Get a clue.
Everyone likes to work for something and then enjoy the fruits of their labor.
Everyone wants a a reasonable opertunity to compete in PVP on an even field.
But the problem is that 40 year old guys with jobs and families playing an hour or 2 maybe 4 nights a week dont want to compete against 20 year old college students grinding out uber items 40 hours a week.
There is no workable answer.
1 crafting is a terrible way to try and make money.
2 The only time it is worth the bother isif you notice a niche which no one else is doing at the time.
3 if even 1 more person were to compete in a given niche it would no longer be profitable – so anyone would be a fool to help you.
There is no point, at all, in trying to craft anything unusual for profit for the TP.

I have 3 lvl 400 hunder crafters and understand that their is essentially no attractive market for anything.
This is good. Its more important that PVP players be able to equip themselves easily than than it is that we make a relative few crafters rich.
1 cent under cutting is NOT a problem.
It only bothers people who are trying to sell stuff for more than its worth.
But I believe John Smith already stated that the players dictate the price?
No he didnt say that.
The price is determined by an algorithm that uses players purchases and sales as the variable.
Its not at all the same thing as players dictating price.
The way it seems to work is that there is a soft target price range or a strong attractor and player trades effect the variance around the target range.
Ok then – here is WHY we should have a free(or almost free) market.
And going to explain the same thing from a few perspectives to make my point.
1 The game make is so inefficient at transferring gold that many(maybe most) people who want gold have resorted to 3rd party sellers.
This is pretty much the definition of a failed market – it is analogous to state controlled economies where the black market out grows the official economy.
2 If there was a free market the ratio of gold to Gems would increase.
This is because their is a huge over supply of gold in the total economy while at the same time the average player wants more gold.
This would be good for ArenaNet because buying gems to trade for gold would become more popular so Arenanet would make more money.
It would be good for players because right now most are either just not spending money since it seems like a bad deal or they are buying gold on scam tastic black market.
3 Gems are not very worth while to the average player currently.
Most of what they offer is only attractive to a small subset of players. The average player is not going to buy Gems unless they can get an amount of gold close to what the black markets offer now – this will only happens if you allow the Gold/Gem exchange rates to rise dramatically(as market forces would lead to.)
You can not do higher level events – because you have failed to level in the easiest leveling MMO ever.
Well some of the armor skins for male theives are horrible.
The level 15 stuff my thief has would make a hobo look bad.
Out of curiosity, how many feel that a 100% free market would be a good idea?
I do.
And the whole "no real free market exists’ thing is red herring.
What we have now for gems is a completely fake free market – you guys made an algorithm that lets the trade value shift slightly – but the algorithm has aa strong attractor for the point you would prefer.
So what we mean when we say we want a free market is that people make sell and buy order for gems with no restrictions.

Gems fail for 3 reasons.
1 The trade tax is too high.
2 You get hit twice with the trade tax if you plan to convert gems into items for sale of the market.
3 The trade values are not set by the market. They are set by a contrived algorithm that causes the trade ratio to shift slightly but only around an attractor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attractor ) determined by the devs.
Anet sets the price.
They do it by adjusting the algorithm the the sets the price.
Its a smoke and mirrors game when they pretend that its truely set by supply and demand.
Its NOT a free market(not even a free market with a big tax.)
The medium armor is oddly horrible.
almost all of it looks like Illl fitting stuff that was handed down to you by an a styless older brother.
There are some events where my warriors cleans up on loot if I use the right tactics.
There other events where the the warrior is average at best.(penitent camp for instance.)
Divergent servers is a bad idea for any game dev.
Its even worse in a game where people can switch between servers.
The actual crafting experience in GW2 is the best I have seen in any game.
Its actually fun to do the process of crafting.
As a functioning part of an MMO EVE has by far the best crafting.
Crafting in GW2 is almost a single player process. Its really fun and what you do has almost no effect on anyone else. Crafting in EVE is the core of the multiplayer part of the game.
Balance classes for PVP.
Balance PVE content to fit the classes.
Its not perfect so just deal with it.
I would have to add that finished many of my quests naked. I finsihed them by basically killing one monster – dying – coming back and killing one monseter – dyying – coming back etc.
I think part of the issue is that devs expect you to play and move as would like you to, rather than they way you have learned to play the game in all the open areas.
It sounds like your not using enough of the money you earn in game to play the game(Im assuming you are 80.)
Im not interested.
Exotics are just as good performance wise.
Last night someone started spamming the map about how I was a bad person and no one should group with me – all because I kept running ahead to attack the waves of Risen at an event which spoiled her aoe plan.
In the first 2 or 3 weeks of the game I got several (I think around 10.)
Since then – NOTHING.
They probably stopped giving them away because once people see how bad the reawards are they will never buy a key.
Why would you bump a 2 wek old thread that is literally nonsense?
Just in case youre ignorant(its non sense because gold gold is the currency and in economic terms inflation and deflation refer to what happens to the rest of the economy with respect to currency.)
why is it a problem to go to a lower level region once you reach lvl 80?
I clearly don’t understand why people constantly complain about it.
crap loot
I want both a fun experience and I want it to be profitable in terms of the game.
I think a better solution would be too have PVP do 1/10th that PVE does to gear when you are downed.
Its viable in the sense that if you are willing to take a lot of extra time just to kill stuff for compents and in turn level slower you can do it.
Its faster to complete one craft while leveling up then do the other at 80.
Artificing, cooking and jewelery are exceptions they are much cheaper to level..
It makes no sense at all to call that an exploit.
Im guessing most of the charaters you think are bots are actually real players.
I often just stand and wait the shelter for events. The go afk while I wait for the next one. I see many other people doing the same.
All depend if you go AFK with auto fire on using a programmable keyboard so if the event does trigger you get the reward.
AFK botting (stand and fire) is still botting.
Stop making up crap about other posters.
I clearly said I was afk while waiting for events.
And thats what most of the other people you see standing there are doing too.
I am experiencing the same problem as the OP.
The search prices bear no relation to the actual prices anymore(the search worked fine a week ago.)
Its not that the prices changed as it was loading. You can refresh and it keeps showing the same wrong price.
Im guessing most of the charaters you think are bots are actually real players.

The final 15-25 points in all three of the crafting lines I did were quickly finsihed with 3 or 4 rare items made from the inscription recipes you buy from the master.
Its maybe the most important reason that they exist.
No.
You must craft the item then separately add the new gem/rune(or whatever its called.)
I would have thought a little foresight could have prevented this but its here.
Listening to the resulting confusion in WvW chat a an unending source of mind amusement and annoyance.
Why would the the name world you live and and use to denote your group be the same word used to denote of the areas you spend much of you time in?
The real gold is the money you get from selling loot to venders.
No one gives a flip about the Gold medal – its easy to get.
Play 30 minutes of GW2
Play 45 minutes of Rift
Play 30 minutes of GW2
Play 45 minutes of Rift
Play 30 minutes of GW2
ponder what is fun
Arena nets seems to be only interested in discouraging bots not activily going after them.
This means they will continue to break the game for active players but they wont ban accounts.
I dont have a faceboojk account.
The lack of news and updates from the devs is one of the reasons Im growing tired of this game.
It feels to me like they have almost no interest in the communicating with the player base.
People are comfortable paying a modest premium for security, legality, and ease of use.
But they probably are not comfortable with the fairly huge premium that GW2 places on the transactions.
15% is a good number for regular trades in game – its a terrible number for anything related to real money.
Some of you seem confused about the subject of this post.
Its not about gold medals – its about items and gold from drops.
In most events its easy to get a gold medal if you try and its ussuallly not at anyone expense.
Loot on the other hand is far more valuable to most people. And you can easily have a 10x diffenernce in profits based on how you compare to other event runners.
Succeeding in getting loot is completely based off of being better than the other guys(who in turn get no or less loot.)
It makes events extremely fun while you are doing them but I realize that no community at all is being built on my server.
Its an unusual experience. The PVE is actually more like EVE in spirit than it is like normal MMOs.
Its was a fun game to level up but yes its the easiest MMO I have ever played. Simply trying guarantees splendid success.
No one else is willing to share?
Come on and help the community.
Use crude or basic. I use basic kits because they take up less space – the cost difference isnt a big deal.
But you should only be salvaging “salvage materials” you should sell back whites blues and greens to the vendor – with the possible exception of some lower level cloths.
Use the expensive kit anytime you want the rune.
Why would you expect them to waste resources on this?
YOU took a big risk trusting a player instead of using the market. The risk turned out badly – move on.
I had a lot of fun the first month so yes.
But between the DR in PVE and the queues in WvW I may burn out sooner rather than later.
