Think that after the rage thread they gonna make ascend gear easier to get just like excotics

I am using the same CPU (@4Ghz) as you and i am getting when questing average 60 fps (Vsync cap)
In LA- Square/fountian it’s about 28-34 any other town i am average 40+ fps
WvW can drop as low as 15 fps maybe even worse ( i dont play it)

Considering i am using a HD 6870 x2 you shouldn’t be having trouble with anything but WvW and maybe massive Events (Like Halloween in LA).

So how much FPS are you getting in these situations ?

and yes this game engine is terrible…

Edit: Just noticed that post above me your stating your FPS in some situations… and it’s way worse then what it should be even with that CPU al though i am running mine @4 Ghz it shouldn’t be such a big differents.. So i can only asume you GPU isn’t doing what it should or maybe the Drivers aren’t working propper with gw 2.

No point upgrading to a Phenom II 965.. I am actually using it.
Mine is overclocked to 4 ghz amd i am getting between 28-35 Center of LA (fountian/Statue area everything on High)
Was dropping ALLOT lower during the Halloween events.

Made mine as little as possible so i could make all these emo kids cry more !

Totally screwed me though when trying to do the clocktower puzzle with these gaint emo NORNS blocking my few aaargh ..

Some people have like a ton of background stuff running and or are running on power savings mode.. not sure how good you are with pc’s in general but if your average or below average with pc’s you could try and run this.

Using it for few weeks now .. So i think it is pretty save to use..
It’s a massive boost as well to the graphics.. game colors are looking pretty wasted out without it.

Obviously his CPU will bottleneck his GPU in WvW/Towns/Events etc but in normal play including Spvp his CPU should be getting allot more then what he’s getting now.

I have the same CPU as him and i am getting average 60 Vsync cap in PVE questing.
Towns i am getting 28 FPS + and i am running it with everything on High.
And with Towns i mean Lion Arch any other town it’s 40+

Ingame you should be getting allot more unless your in a Event/WvW/LA

Have you tried out the AMD 12.11 BETA drivers ?
It’s not your CPU btw i got the same and only in massive events/WvW you will get low FPS.

I am using a HD 6870 × 2 my self and i am getting average of 60 fps vsync when questing.

We can only hope that Arenanet will at something like the Combat mod to the game..
for one it’s so much beter and the other reason is that people with RSI (me) that simpely cannot hold down the right mouse button all the time need something like the combat mod.

I am actually using it but i prefer not to because it’s not supported by Anet and i really wouldnt like to get banned..
But for me it’s either risking it or not playing at all.

I am actually always play in full screen so i can’t even see the cursor .. it’s all about holding down that right mouse button.. and the auto center is nice.

Hee i actually have that one !
I was suprised how will it performs .. you can even buy a extra fan for a Push-Pull idea.
Using it on overclocked phenom II 965 @ 4ghz never go above 58 C
(In prime stress test 24 hours mid Summer so it was ffing hot in side as well) and i had to boost the voltage on my cpu allot to get it stable.

I am running a Phenom II 965 @ 4ghz with a HD6870 in crossfire.
Like kirito explained to me even if you CPU isnt showing MAX load it’s because the main game thread is maxed out.
Basiclly any AMD cpu isn’t fast enough to get good FPS in WvW or in Towns.

But then again after reading this not even the latest INTEL cpu’s are capable off getting 30+ FPS at all times..

Obviously this has to be fixed cause if you need to OC the best cpu’s on the market to keep the game running 30+ fps in any situation then it’s cleary a sign of bad coding no matter what they say.

Oh i am getting average 25-35 FPS at fountian in LA any other town it’s always 30 +

I was actually planning to upgrade to a I5 3750 but after reading this i am starting to feel it won’t be worth it … How much FPS do you get in LA like the near the old statue

There aren’t any people getting 60 FPS constant .. From what i can tell ppl always drop pretty danm low in massive fights..

I love underwater ! And a entire zone with the underwater artwork/designs they are using now like in LA etc .. would be freaking epic..

Also engineer harpoon mechanics work perfect !
If only less mobs would go invulnerable it’s gonna be awesome.

And also because they basiclly made it so that PVP and PVE is like a different game.. and yet you have to get both pvp/pve for that achievement..

I can’t imagion how annoying this must be for a pvper that has to run dungeons all of a sudden..

Also for people with a slightly less powerfull pc this option is a must as well ! (specially considering you guys have been REALLY…. REALLY genereus about the so called minimum requirements)

I am all for it btw! Mounts are always good to have.. there’s like no RPG that doesn’t use them. Besides if you can have tons off fluffy mini pets then what the hell is wrong with a 33% speed boost mount.. you can already perma boost your self anyways with most classes if not all.
Just make them PVE only and not allowed in towns etc and keep them looking to style off the game (some how people are picturing purple unicorns with sparkles and Laser beams shooting out off there kitten etc)

Just at a kitten ton of unique looking armor sets and allot off ppl will stop complaining ;p
Even if they have the same stats just getting a really sick unique look that take age to grind/farm is something some ppl need i gues.

If you have a 1.85% drop change and you have 20% magic find you will have a
2.24% change instead of the 1.85% !

To be honest i have no idea how it works Would make sense though

With your setup you can play pretty much play anything else ingame maxed out (PVE/SPVP Where the real skill comes in, Dungeons etc)

Which imo is still worth it.

The game is horrible optimized though.
In my opinion a game that can’t stay above 30 FPS with a i5 2500 on STOCK needs some work but yeah…. even so Intel is the only CPU with enough single thread power to run WvW descend …

Isn’t the Heaven benchmark GPU heavy ? Cause i ran it with my Phenom II 965 @ 4ghz with HD6870 in crossfire and a friend of mine ran it with his i7 3930K with a single GTX 670.. and i actually had a Higher score then him.
If it was more CPU heavy he should have blown mine away..

Was actually suprised mine scored higher but apparently ATI know hows to make Crossfire scale like crazy in about everything but GAMES.

I think the reasoning behind the limitation is that now they only have to listen to YOU rage instead off the computer noobs ramming it on high only to have it crash to BLUE SCREEN non stop .. and then blame it on Anet/Gw2.

I’ve been playing the game since early release just about daily. I went out of town for one week, came back and tried to log into the game to play a bit and after just a couple of minutes playing the computer shuts down then restarts. I have checked and the computer is not overheating, the GPU is not overheating. I ran two other games to see if the same thing happens and it does not, it seems to be something that only happens when playing GW2. It has been working perfectly for the last couple of months, but now this is happening. Anyone else having the same problem? Anyone know what might be the problem?

your computer video is being over clocked, and its over heating our compute. You need to find updated drive NCSOFT has negelected to tell their customers about. If you do not do this it will damage your laptop. I had the same problems and it was over clocking my video cad to 90-100 FPS, if you log into your Options menu and see what your FPS during game play you will see if its higher than normal. That if you ever monitor your FPS before.

Or maybe they tweaked to game abit so it will run beter on some systems …
I don’t see how higher FPS means overclocking….
Cause i am actually getting more FPS now a days in some area’s.
Because my GPU is able to pump out more FPS then before it’s getting hotter but even if it’s working at 99% it shouldnt burn out.

Probally something else going on with your system tbh… Did you ever checked the temps before telling ppl Gw 2 is overclocking your GPU because i serieusly doudt Anet is dumb enough to randomly overclock peoples hardware lol.

Noticed something wierd to day.
I was playing some WvW obviously with terrible FPS.
I am using a G15 and standard i have the lcd screen on the cpu load / ram load.
I noticed my CPU was doing about 60% load.
I figured it must be my CPU bottlenecking my GPU (i am using 2xHD6870) so i started up GPU-Z to check the sensor tab to see the load and it was stuck on around 30% load.. what the hell.

Now ofc you can think 60% load sound about right on a Quad considering GW 2 is using 2/3 cores instead of a perfect 4. (according to the FAQ)
But then when i went in to the Heart of the mist my CPU load jumped up to 88/90% load and my GPU to 93%

So terrible optimizations or am i missing something ?
Just wondering why my cpu wont go above 60% load in WvW with a GPU on 30%
While in Heart of the mist/Spvp i am getting 90%+ on both

Dubbel checked it and it’s happening at Etheron Waypoint. With or without player on the screen the load will be around 60% on cpu .. No players will make my GPU work harder so there some sort off cpu bottleneck going on just dont get why it’s stuck on 60%

Why wouldnt you want them.. Obviously they aren’t required to get places.. i mean even without waypoints they still wouldnt be required..
It’s fun to have them to start with.
Even if Guildwars would start to use mounts this game would still be just as unique as before. Instead now you have Extra content items to look out for..
I mean i would love to see some mounts that fit each race for example.
Human – Horse
Asura – Golem
Charr- Chubby human

etc

I just don’t get why ppl say no to extra stuff lol..

ah well you still get the point massive differents with sweetfx .. colors look so much beter you dont even realise how washed out the colors are untill you try it.

Mounts would at to the immersion of the game so i vote yes..

So how much does it matter if we compare a upscaled level 40 to 80 vs a excotic geared level 80 ?
Is the difference big enough to justify the extra time needed to get the fully geared level 80 or it is barelly noticeable ?

It’s not your GPU, I have the HD 7850, and always have 60-80 fps, sometimes reaches 100fps.

that’s without VSync on.

yeah, with VSync stops at 60fps, supposedly this improves the appearance but I see no difference

It doesn’t improve apearance it simpely syncs you fps with the refresh rate off your monitor so you wont get any screen tearing.

It’s pretty awesome as a engineer + harpoon.

Totally like the mechanics and weapon ability’s / turrets.
