Powerful Blood Farming in Southsun Cove

Good post OP, do not let the goldsellers hound you.

Dont get your panties all tied up farmers/gold sellers. Bots cant handle this area with the exception of famring barracudas underwater, that should be taken care of by now. The rest is death to them. The easy money gamer will not come here because they cannot farm like in Orr, the mobs are slightly tougher, Grin.

As for letting folks know about the drops in southsun shore i could care less about the goldsellers on this thread whining about their areas being compromised. Everyone knows about mats here already, they are simply to much of a hassle for the majority of folks except for the grinders and farmers/goldsellers to get.

So take the attiude and your supposed secret and get bent farmers/goldsellers. For folks that do not know about other things….. venom sacs drop nicely and so do armored scales along with the blood, those that can get them please do, and do not worry about the farmers or gold sellers on this thread whining their areas are compromised.

All areas need to be like southsun in npc strength and drop rate. I would love to see ORR get a southsun makeover.

Sweet post, thanks for this.

Couple things. Was this done with no armor and no jewelry and no sigils on weps? And what was the target? Weapon config type, or were they all averaged together?

My calculations were wildly off as much as 1.2 to .5 with many inbetween. I used my bare guardian, no jewelry, no food, no sigils and three wep configues, cleric, beserker and condition base wep types. I did not get close to the same numbers, though a few were close if averaged out up or down.

@Levi.

I think you are correct on the server population issue. I tracked my server for a week and it read full 24/7, this is not the case.

The most common sense answer is the population indicators show characters made on those servers, not people logged in.

This got buried and is worth keeping up from another thread months back. As orders are completed they should be account accessible. All characters on a given account should be able to access and purchase weapons and armor from order vendors that are “unlocked”, meaning the story portion awarding them is over, not the entire story.

It only makes sense…..

Big patches…….. i really do not see any new classes or races, but an expansion that is paid for will most certainly have them at some point, it would be foolish not to and it is a huge selling point for some customers.

Solo Dungeons

Graill.8596

I am for anything that gives customers choice and enjoyment, not this mindless grind BS. Those people that think MMO means “Must group” are as clueless as their belief system. If i want to enjoy a dungeon as a solo player who is anyone to tell me i cannot. Only one group can do that, developers, and that is a choice on their part. Not because they cant do it.

Dungeons should be scalable between 1 or 100, they should be randomized, they should have a number of ways to solve them, not just fighting, they should never be the same way twice, this includes rewards, bosses, mechanics, etc, etc. There are a couple of ways to solve this problem in the short term but the devs are pretty sensitive to critics like myself.

The problem with this is also heavily money related. It is far cheaper to have customers hold each other hands because they do not know any better and because they have been trained by devs over the years (or to new to the genre) to believe that grouping and mindlessly running the same dungeon over and over and over and over is the cool thing to do to be “Hardcore” or “That person or group” . These customers have low standards and believe that developers herding customers through rote action static dungeons is the right way to make a game, let me tell you, it is not.

If the devs had the resources and the imagination and talent, with an emphasis on money, dungeons would be truly spectacular, right now they are the same trash that MMO’s from 20 years ago pumped out.

Only a few of us make the points to show devs this is not the way to continue business as usual. To bad the majority are afraid to band together and force change.

Thats right, until some rocket scientist decided to put the dyes up for sale on the gemstore to make profit.

It’s only one of many poor choices like these made by devs that make this game unplayable due to sad game mechanics. Maybe in a few patches, months down the road they may see the light, but i really doubt it. Not when gold selling is apparently profitable to them like any korean MMO.

I suggest you volunteer yout time in real life or ask for more work at your current job. Both are very rewarding and mean far more than playing a silly game and worrying about what to do in that silly game.

Or you can do in depth research that in the long run will help Gamers. like any journey problem solving starts with that first troubling step forward.

This is where i am at. If i am not working on my twin turbine cat i am doing volunteer work or helping the community, things i learned and grew to love from my last job, one i still dabble in part time.

This also gives me resources to force devs into a new way of thinking and to press home the thought proccess that things should not stay the way they are. Not strickly referencing the GW2 devs, though they have my undivided atttention currently, grin.

While you do these other things OP you can wait and see and not waste money on rewarding poor performance in GW2. You can pop in for an hour or just a few minutes an see what is going on and check the forums for any dev news that is finally making sense. If none of these things happen then step back and perform the actions i suggested.

If more folks worried about themselves and not the other person and helped instead of hindered or contributed or allowed contribution, then the world as a whole would be a better place, and logging into a game like GW2 would be fun instead of a mind boggling chore full of sad game mechanics as it is now.

OP, you can have cake and eat it too, never let anyone tell you that icing is needed.

Why are people doing dragon bosses?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Graill.8596

Graill.8596

I cant see the logic in running dungeons more than once unless they change in big ways or are adjustable, the same goes for dragon ecounters, as much of a joke as they are currently.

There is no innovation, ZERO imagination and the game mechanics surrounding dungeons and dragon encounters is just laughable. it is simply amazing to get the responses from devs that we do and yet things stay the same as any MMO in the past.

The hype never stood up to the end product. To me many of the mistakes and game mechanics that have failed are representative of devs “learning as they go”. We should have had some incredible blow out game mechanics from the start, we did not. Artwork and dragons look super, but then graphics do not make the game, they compliment it.

As many many others have pointed out the dragon encounter are a joke, made for grinders and farmers and goldsellers wearing magic find, that is the type of people the game is targeted at, those that think grind/farm/time equates to the old label “Hardcore” and thus deserving of reward.

If folks do not stop the devs from presenting garbage in the form of below par game mechanics then the current trend will continue, and you folks will continue to play the way the devs want you to. I certainly do not.

Maybe folks need to step back and realize the consumer comes first, and it is the MMO business that needs to change and comply.

The days of running dungeons over and over or farming or grinding should have been long gone with GW2. I honestly cant understand how all these supposedly talented devs are all huddled out in left field.

Actually i do know, they just refuse to read about it.

They have dungeons to work on, the reward system needs huge improvements, the legendary system is a joke, the mind your own business system needs to be implemented, a revamped TP needs to be pushed out, drops for high level craftables need a rework, gold needs to be account bound, select items for crafting high level items need to be account bound only. Classes need huge balancing fixes in regards to force multipliers, not just tweeks. Wv3 mechanics need a huge rework. Storymode in dungeons needs to go away as it does not benefit the Gamer. Personal stories need a huge reward revamp, especially the final end reward to a legendary journey…(cough, plug)

Lots of work left to do before they think of pushing out new content.

Art and scenery and sound, you folks rock, keep up the great work. Lore is also pretty sweet.

I do alot of “Tumbling” in dungeons. I feel more like a Cirque du Soleil member than a member of the players in any particular dungeon, dodge heals with energy are huge. That said, it is pretty sad the current game mechanics do not provide on the fly adjustments to healing or damage output, though i am quite sure the devs have thought of everything…cough.

I mean, with the limited mechanics of this game engine they still have the ability to make skills that could be scaled, a trivial example is holding any particular key down for any particular skill and making it stronger, this is already in practice.

Being able to setup for any dungeon, be it heal heavy, a range fest, melee only, etc, etc while in the dungeon without having to go to a respec npc would be huge, and yes, already asked for, though the scalable power mechanics on the fly have not.

Imagine Guardians being able to worry about looks rather than who should dps or how much healing, tanking, protection or boosts they should put out because they could adjust on the fly, in combat. One build, infinite variety. Also this is after stating the obvious, example, skills can already be swapped before combat, etc.

Just stating the visions the devs have are pretty sad for this class and it feels like the devs are “Learning as they go” when it comes to character design or balancing issues with the classes. A bad thing.

The Arena net company has hundreds of years of experience in dealing with these situations. I really do not see why everyone is complaining, on either side of the fence. End sarcasm.

Myself, just my opinion, what would i have done? First the team responsible would have been dealt with. The devs that made these mistakes would have had performance counseling performed and then punitive counseling performed, these are then tracked to ensure the same people do not make the same mistakes in programming again, failing that, and creating the same mistakes resulting in the same or similar player actions the devs are terminated.

Dealing with the players. Those that knew “something was up” should indeed report it. Those that did not and continued to perform a questionable act should be dealt with SILENTLY. Thats right, when people make mistakes large or small in real life as only an example, they are pulled to the side and things are explained to them.

All Anet had to do SILENTLY, and this is just my opinion, is take the gold and mats back, simply done, unless of course the fine programming work does not allow for detailed tracking data in a reliable way. Another option is to take everything back and place the character at level one, forcing them to start over, not maps and such or what they have for armor/weps, but simply taking the profits made, the mats made, and putting their character back to level 1 status, and all the privleges that go with it, like not being able to use anything that isnt appropriate level.

People would have complained regardless but you have the fine forum moderators to handle that. Plus petitions can be evaluated during this punitive action.

That would have been enough of a punishment, kept people ingame and been amusing. But gosh, what do i know?

Will I be seeing more gold as I continue?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Graill.8596

As with any standard MMO you will need to grind and farm excessively. If you go the role of the traditional Gamer and not one that has no life or grinds/farms forever you will attain things in long, long period of time, months to a year plus for cool ticket items. Playing as if you have no life and grinding/farming to excess you will attain things quickly, this also happens to be the people the game is aimed at.

So you will gain more gold…eventually, depending on how much time you put into the game on a strictly hourly basis.

You can increase your “odds”, and this game is a huge random number generator sink, by eating magic find food, and finding and equiping magic find armor and weps, and jewelry. The game is a crapshoot right now in terms of drops and items, something no one likes right now.

It is up to you how you play GW2, be warned though, the game is only aimed at one specific type of person.

Your suggestions, like the same countless posts before you will fall on blind eyes as the devs will do as they have planned in the short, medium, and long range plans already in place. Nothing you listed is original, excuse my pointing that out.

The devs have already stated, and this goes back to any number of MMO’s, if they can shoehorn some suggestion in that is doable they will, but do not look forward to it. The devs made choices, clearly they thought these were the best choices in the beginning, now, finding they have been wrong in many aspects of the games mechanics and it will take a long long while to change things as other projects in the game take precedence.

Who knows, they may not change a thing or they may change something to support their gemstore such as the dye issue you pointed out. Dyes were to be account wide, but it was decided by the devs to make profit from them in the gemstore with real cash, this was a hugely unpopular move and something the devs ignore in regards to complaints to this day.

Be careful what you post, a free idea you give the devs may end up costing you real cash in that gemstore.

Magic provides the protection, the armor is simply imbued with it, it doesnt matter how much is….there.

A simple fix for players not wishing to see more revealing armor of others could be done with a button click in the options panel or partental control panel, letting those that want their skimpy skins left alone.

I mean really, how hard would it be to place that floating black square for people not wanting to see skin, an option in their menu? That last line was a joke btw.

Should the gambling aspect of this game be removed entirely in all aspects? I think it should. Still waiting on an answer from state and federal regulators as they had no clear answer for me. I will be curious as to what they reply with. This is dealing with real money being used to purchase “a chance”. The artwork, sound, scenic views and exploration are really top notch, but those are the only saving graces in GW2. The rest of the game pretty much sucks due to the the people in charge. No imagination, no innovation, and lots of devs stating they are amazing, as touted on these very forums, well certain sections are not.

In my view, the Trinity Needs to Come Back

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

True this game still has the trinity to a degree but not one class is exceptional at any one thing anymore, water ele heals better than any class and pretty much every other class has some type of dps. Control and support are scattered throughout the classes but are still there and the vision from the devs simply fell flat on its face due to poor game mechanics as described by thousands of customers.

Only lack of imagination and cost prevent real innovation and the ability to lose the trinity all together in this game. Boss fights mechanics that are circa 20 years ago and trying to get people to cover and compliment each other in combat, the original idea, simply does not work.

There is that, all that work, the devs will not just trash it because a few thousand people do not like the way the pve or pvp mechanics are.

Graill.8596

The trinity sadly exists in this game though the itention by the devs was not to have it.

The problem lay with people making builds for DPS and expecting other people to support and heal them, which is wrong. Each class is supposed to take their own heals and support skills and dps and balance them out so the party as a whole works together and covers each other, but people are simply foolish and do what they want instead of building for a team.

In dungeons i heal and support quite well alone and dps a modest amount, when i have a party that also has proper heals and support among each other the health bars barely move except for spike damage that is covered up quickly.

The OP should have placed this thread in the general GW2 subforum to address people making specific builds and placing undue pressure or hardship on other classes, not just the guardian, to heal them when they should be healing themselves and buffing each other, as all classes can do.

Instead people simply want to dps, something that should be looked into by the people that made this game.

Lack of communication during holidays

With my time at my job before i retired constant communication with customers and subcontractors (ours being military) was a must. 24 hour communication everyday, no matter how small the update.

A quote from Anet, i cannot post the email or i will get trashed by the billy club bully that runs this forum, stated that “We do not feel there is a need to communicate daily or often” words to that effect, changed slightly to not be in violation but 99% sums it up.

I stated i disagree, the dev felt otherwise. Again, you see an unregulated industry with no fines or consequence do as they want, the only pressure customers can bring to bear is not to spend real cash, but targeted demographics ensure a solid cash flow.

These Anet folks know what they can get away with and these forums will do little to influence them unless they see it threaten their gemstore game mechanic wise, and lack of constant communication is not something they want to do.

This next fact is also not opinion, people need to remember, customers of an MMO game or any video game are not considered in the same way customers of say Home Depot (Example), or a large automobile manufacturing firm are considered upon purchase of an item. Something we as consumers must take into consideration when demanding changes to the product. Without stiff penalties hanging over their heads alot of these phd programmers simply laugh at regulation and the masses of complaints, i know, i have had them do it to my face, right before i had them canned.

Things to think about.

My new main is a guardian with a warrior in the works, by far better in both play and survival verse all classes and both suport much better than the broken engineer.

Of note: If this were Waterworld Engineers would rule, nothing beats an Engineer underwater, sadly, the game isnt based on this mechanic.

Guardian is a blast and supports and has versatility the Engineer cant match, that being the ability to swap main weapon sets and configure multiple weapon types, the warrior is the same way. these are full power main sets, not laughable underpowered kits, grenades included.

i watched for about 15 minutes and they teleported long and short distances as a group, in some cases one would not teleport and would have to rejoin the group. It was not speed, not WP use, pure teleportation, i had to shake my head at this.

That may sound harsh but the fact remains, who spends REAL cash on a chance to get something? Gamblers? People with no willpower? I read about people buying lotto tickets or scratch and sniffs (or whatever they are called) People must realize what they are doing. Imagine a person buying a car RNG gemshop style, a few lucky ones will get the whole car, others will have to continue flushing money down the drain until the gemshop coughs up that engine and 4th tire.

Ultimately the customer with the cash knows what they are doing buying things in the RNG gemshop and should have zero complaints, like the gambler in Vegas that spent 500k on Roulette and wonders why they lost it all.

Like the people that run Vegas, Anet knows through studies which demographic to target and why, and thus they make cash. There is no secret.

How to not need gold

OP, you base your argument on Farming and grinding, something no one wants to do. I do not consider running a dungeon more than once “Fun”, you might because you may be “Programmed” to think this is normal, to repeatadly run dungeons to get items, to me this is foolish and a mechanic of developers.

In the end you need lots of gold no mater how you state you get it in this game to get anything.

Serious question about what MF does for you

Does nothing for me but waste a slot for better stats. The developers are responsible for magic find and its choice to be implemented and the failed game mechanic that encourages bots and farmers/gold sellers.

Does the trio exist in Guild wars 2?

The sound of soapboxes being crushed under the wieght of arguments their is no trinity is amusing.

There is the standard trinity, it has just been disguised. To get rid of the trinity forever the game mechanics would need to be totally innovative and mob/boss fights imaginative.

No, we are all mad because either a dev or some gold seller/bot/farmer can do this and afford the registration price and the ending fee. Shows you whom this game was targeted for.

Story completion reward is a joke

This has been covered a number of times. I sent in tickets (multiple) to get an answer when i was displeased with the cut and paste version of the sad CS these folks have. The end result was a patronizing reply by one of the devs. I would bet the reply was a standard retort and they do not feel what they send out is in that context.

Suffice to say, they will do what they want, when they want. Thats about all you will get from this business as a customer until they become regulated and face the same fines and penalties other businesses do. As they feel this is a different class of business being a game and they consider it always under construction and your want, need, or desire for something does not take precedent over what they think is right.

The threads with thousands of responses the first month can still be found with a bit of digging regarding this mechanic and other parts such is why a walking asparagus spear is the centerpoint of the story and not you.

Also of concern regarding the imaginative Anet crew was the reason to not have the precursor of your choice as the final reward being the rest of the legendary is a grindfest/farmfest.

We will never know the real reason the devs did what they did other than they can do what they want to support and funnel customers to their gemshop.

On a side note,
I hear Archage is coming along nicely. Grin. Shameless stab, laugh.

Weapon rundown

Hi folks,

Learning curve is going great. i was wondering if i could get feed back on “Traditional weapon usage”.

I currently use GS for moderate aoe point damage and mace /focus for pure defense if i need too.

What is the traditional use of the other weapons? Hammer for dps or control? Sword/torch dps? Never used a staff for my build, what is the primary purpose other than aoe? Scepter focus or scepter torch, is this combo for ranged offense only?

Any tips and explanations would help.

Currently using a heal/support traitline and armor/weps, no crit to speak of but great defense and survivability.

How do you get a lot of gold?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Graill.8596

There are several ways to get gold in this product.

1. RNG, these usually result in big payouts for those finding the “right” people to buy the high ticket item or group of items.

2. Be a Farmer/Grinder. Anet states their game does not have farming or grinding but it requires more farming and grinding than some of the older MMO’s, if you choose to spend hours and hours and hours farming or grinding you will make lots, read lots of gold. Warning, some of these folks are gold sellers that /farm/grind for a real world living, dont let this stigma become attached to you.

3. Play the market. This is something i do. I watch for the mistakes or low post bids and then purchase and sell at the proper time. Do not always list an item right away. Example, This Wintersday i purchased 55k (initial funding coming from some poor sap that posted a precursor for 12 gold a while ago) locked chests at 8 copper each, then, 12 hours before the official kickoff i sold them for 14 copper, the number sounds high but i made a nice little profit as they all sold out in 3 hours, something i was amazed and worried about. As you know the locked chest tanked that Wintersday because they did nothing to them and they dropped to 5 copper in about 4 hours. Seeing some folks listing thousands more i know they lost out. It takes timing and knowing what Anet is going to do and their track record, all make for decent investments.

4. Use the forums to try and manipulate the market. You can see this daily. I look for these posts and shut these people down almost at once. One example is the drop rate of some T-6 mats, person A buys x amount of material Y then posts on the forums that Anet has nerfed the drop or this happened or whatever so they can sell high when the foolish people following these false trader alerts flock to the market and buy up overpriced junk that drops just fine.

All kinds of ways to make gold, just find your niche.

Aegis vs Stealth

In these types of arguments i like to use the phrase “Force multiplier”. Those that have studied and have been in the military know what this means. It can be directly transposed to the fantasy world as a matter of fact as some skills give certain classes huge advantages over other classes, all things being equal.

This phrase and its mechanic was not considered by the developers because we have the disparity between classes skillwise in both utility and situational employment. My question to a dev during an early beta and their response….“huh?”.

A fight between any characters should take a bit of time and be fun, and the mistakes made by the person playing should determine the outcome, not the raw power or healing of a certain skillset. This in no way makes a statement “everyone would be the same”. Does anyone think by changing the pretty color or graphic, or animation, that damage is not damage, that healing is not healing, and shielding or CC is not the same?

It is the way a developer will present the trinity that still exists in this game as to what a player uses and at what time. Furthermore, and this is a slight digression, if weapons and armor wore down that dynamic could be involved to the point a players amor exploded, killing everyone in the fight, or fighting a player and seeing their weapon glowing, knowing it is about to do something really bad because of long misuse and simply running from the fight so you dont get caught in whatever is about to happen, but hey, i dont want to give away trade secrets or ideas Anet does not have permission to use. Grin.

Before comparisons to skills can be made they need to be balanced against each and every class skill in a game that supposedly has no trinity. Right now Anet has months and months of player skill balancing to go, moving forward of course, as they like to say.

GW2 depth of combat discussion?

There is nothing new about the combat in this MMO. Nothing innovative, and certainly nothing futuristic or groundbreaking that would influence other manufacturers of MMO’s to copy. Been there done that, thousands of times.

Though this MMO has the single most amount of skill exploits and bugs i have ever seen or “participated” in. I guess they win an award for that.

Second that, magic find takes up a stat slot and adds to an already poor game mechanic base on RNG and DR, so, its garbage. Get rid of it.
