@Vasham, ya i need source on this as it is a huge corporate secret and the community manager letting this go would be in a world of hurt, what or who is your source and can a dev confirm or deny just the context of Vasham’s statement?

Vasham states:
“Server status is based on the number of accounts tied to a server, not the number of players actively online. Even if Tarnished Coast was completely empty of players it would still read full. Shame Arenanet chose to lie about their subscriber numbers like that. : /”

It comes downs to people worrying about what the other person has, or does not have, or how they got it or how they got it differently in a fast or slow way that creates these threads. People looking over each other shoulders or looking across an imaginary fence, constantly worrying they have something no one else should get or no one should get faster or for free. All due to game mechanics.

20 years ago a person might have got away with using the terms “Hardcore” or “Casual”, things kids came up with as most children do to try and one up each other. The vast majority of consumers playing online games in the last decade refer to themselves as Gamers, consumers with no distinction that play games for whatever reason and mind their own business, watching their own lane.

The developers are soley responsible for any rift created among consumers of whatever background. From those people that can spend thousands of hours in a game for whatever reason to the person that can spend only a few hours, the theme is the same, the developers dole out the rewards as they see fit and the developers create the game mechanics that create the mindset that people should play a certain way. Centered around profit for a demographic the developers know will NEED to spend cash.

The developers CAN make everybody happy, the old wives tale of stating this is impossible is just that. The developers simply do not want to spend the time and manpower and associated costs to please everyone so they target the group of people that can be herded, so to speak, in made for the masses dungeons and massively long grinding and farming targets, legendaries as only one example of this mechanic.

The complaints are valid, per individual, no consumer wants to be short changed after buying a product nor do they want to feel bad as they perform some game mechanic targeted at a select group.

Do not be mad at the people posting them on the TP or having legendaries, i am not, eventually a game will come along that can stand up to the hype and doesnt employ game mechanics that force Gamers to choose sides as this one does.

Eventually consumers playing these games will realize that they are being tought how to play by developers because of game mechanics and will demand change, until that happens we have the same narrow minded gamers thinking their way of play is the only way, of course it is the devs way, not theirs, and they need to realize this.

Until then, this MMO is a fine waste of excess time and fun in some aspects. Now if you will excuse me, i have some more porous bones to collect.

With the failure of developers with the Engineer, i went Guardian and never looked back, though i hope my little guy becomes useful at some point other than an escape artist.

I follow three folks on this forum and have learned a ton. My first solo fight with this class in the mists jumping puzzle against three other folks was great i killed two and the ele finally took me down, but what a long fight. My Engineer would have been dead in seconds in a three on one. My education continues.

Though not as good at escaping as my old Engy, i can go into active shrine areas etc and survive, wheras my old main could not and would be attritioned down in short order.

For support i am much more versatile, from healing, buffs, taking conditions from folks in party, popping the skill to turn all conditions to boons is too sweet.

Damage is low though that doesnt bother me with the punishment i can take. I look forward to the day when we can button spec two or more different builds without the need to go back and respec, which is an old game mechanic, not stating copy other games……but if it works.

The Failed State of the Economy

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Graill.8596

Graill.8596

First there is no game economy in GW2. That word is thrown around like it is the neatest thing since chocolate milk. It is sexy to type “Economy”.

To have an economy there must be regulation, right now there is none. There must be finite resources, and regulation of those resources. Things must wear away, including all those nifty special items, this gives crafters a reason for being in the first place.

Money must have value in game, not out of game. Selling gold in a gemshop is simply wrong. Mechanics must be in place to prevent farming and grinding, Two things GW2 has failed at.

Right now there is a glorified trading post by the most extreme definition. Gold sellers post on the forums to try and raise or lower the price of materials, you see this every couple of days. RNG has no place in this game other than the want of the developers.

Want to see a working “economy”? Make things wear out, Everything, thats right. make resources finite, the game already has recycling to a large degree, why not take advantage of it. Mechanics can be put in place to at least make resources appear valuable or spawn in special ways. Things i have solutions for, why dont the developers, why not in the first place?

Make gold account bound and put proper mechanics in place to prevent guild gold distribution abuse. Like gold sellers bringing in a player to get gold by trying to bypass the bind to account rule, though i am sure they would have thought of that. Laugh.

Make mats for big ticket items bind to account. Change the drop mechanics, this needs to be changed anyway, RNG and DR need to go.

There are plenty of ways to make a semi working economy, leaps and bounds better than what there is now, but the gem shop would suffer because of these built in mechanics if they were to be changed.

Everything revolves around the gemshop. Thats why things are so kittened up (typed kitten on purpose).

We all understand the need for Anet to make money but really, what kind of people RNG a gemshop when customers use real money, not ingame gold. That issue by itself is too funny, just saying.

Best class for a solo player?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Graill.8596

Graill.8596

Engineer is a great solo openworld pve class, though broken and bugged it is great in limited openworld pve. If you also need to escape mobs this is your class. Very good aoe damage from the bomb trait and just under average main weapon damage, usually used to supplement the bombs or grenades, though grenades took another nerf for some reason.

The Engineer shines in underwater combat. If this were a game based on all underwater combat the Engineer might be the highest played class.

I prefer my guardian now though as it can take a ton of damage my engineer could not, though the damage output is not close to the Engineer, not typing the Engineer has high damage by any means, just constant middle of the road aoe in most cases.

Engineer is an escape artist, keep that in mind if traited and skilled in a certain way.

If you can kite well the Engineer can do much more than the Guardian, though the guardian can go places, active shrine areas for example that would cripple the Engineer, and survive.

A side note on solo/group pvp. The Engineer is a low utility/versitile class compared to a Guardian or Ele or Mesmer. Every class will pretty much outshine the Engy in pvp played by only marginal players. Playstyle comments aside. If you like solo pvp, just yesterday i fought a guardian, though he could not kill me i could not kill him, i was very slowly being worn down and had to run away (escape artist), up on a high perch i watched that same guardian kill 3 other players that tried tooutlast him, this is with the nerf to healing Guardians took recently.

With the last comment by the Anet employee that more class changes are imminent, the two i mentioned have been “adjusted” already or are still skill bugged and probably wont see the big changes other very powerful classes will, such as Warrior, Elementalist, and Mesmer, in that order.

Choose your solo class wisely. I suggest the two i mentioned that have been “adjusted” already.

What's the deal with Orr?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Graill.8596

Graill.8596

The opinion of the Anet employee is fine. When a person works on anything it will always be a point of pride and be subjective to others.

Here is a list of things in Orr from a customers point of view and not someone that has worked “hard” on it. These are not listed in order of preference nor in a good/bad catagory lest they be interpreted as opinion.

Incredible artwork and sound. (maybe opinion)

Almost a hundred little spots of exploration interest, most giving achievements, i still havent found all of them.

Static lifeless maps. Nothing ever changes. The same mechanics that drove MMO’s the last twenty years drive Orr. Having wandering monsters, or mobs in agony doesnt take away from the fact they are there in the same spot, doing the same thing, every day. Again, this is where imagination should have trumped game mechanics but never came close.

Lots of mobs in a grid pattern, a literal grid pattern as others have pointed out.

Incredibly huge aggro ranges on some mobs, not all. Incredibly long attack ranges on some, not all.

For some reason the undead grow tired or disinterested and stop chasing players, that or they are very disciplined and follow orders to guard their little 2 foot by two foot plot of turf…. (sarcasm)

Resources spawn forever.

Interesting lore, though rote action lore to the higest degree.

Still a farming/grind paradise for goldsellers.

Only one way to accomplish things in Orr.

Compared to two months ago Orr is pretty dead except for a couple bases that have fast rote action events that goldsells/grinders participate in.

Havent seen the one famous gold seller event being done in a while in Orr, pretty sure the fractals mechanic took that event down.

Game loot in Orr are based on low drops resulting in players becoming Grinders/Farmers due to game mechanics.

Are there lots of fixes that could be made to Orr? Of course.

Armored Scales Drop Rate Change

The price is only going to go up if people believe your silly hype. The armored scales still drop like crazy from everything in southsun shore. The drop rate hasnt changed, though i never farm and i never farmed barracudas. I do get 3-7 per day in less than 15 minutes when i pass an area for a few minutes on my world map tour. If a grinder or farmer were to do these areas the numbers would be far higher like any other t6 mat drop, which by coincidence have also increased in ORR.

These cards are from GW1 as others have stated along with other perk items given to select paying customers during the holidays, the same requirements anyway, you must have purchased something in their store in order to leave an address. This was discussed in a monsterous thread years ago.

So unless you buy gems with real money or they have it on file from GW1 you will not be getting an xmas card from Anet because they will not have access to your address. Just some fun facts they are picked randomly from paying customers, something the employee left out.

Of course they also may hand pick full positive fans based on posts and ask for addresses but that is just guessing on that part.

Nothing wrong with a business comping some paying clients.

GW2 feels like a F2P game (my opinion)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Graill.8596

First, dont put “Opinion” in your title, there is no reason to be afraid of the billy club weilding person trolling the forums out of spite, everyone knows the forums are opinion. The only facts put out are those by Anet employees, some anyways.

Back on topic, the Customer can play the game the way they want. The Customer can login and spend as much time as they are able or the least amount of time. There is no “Hardcore”, there is no “Casual”, there are Gamers, customers that play MMO’s.

Now that thats out of the way we move to the “feeling” of the game. This game feels neither F2P nor P2P, it feels grindy and farmy, because of the game mechanics put in place by the developers. The customer must play within the range of these game mechanics and as customers we have the right to complain about a faulty product and the way it is operating. Would this game “feel” different if it were charging monthly? No, because the same mechanics would be in place.

Until the devs listen to their customers, that is, we gamers, things will not change and neither will the “Feel”.

Community's Voice: Dungeons

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Graill.8596

Graill.8596

The game is not grindy, at least the devs state that, then why must i run a dungeon dozens of times, the same, already beaten dungeon? I have been told the developers have “Hundreds of years of experience” between them, i could throw out an analogy but i would get infracted by the spitefull headmaster of this forum.

That said why are dungeons like they are? Rote action grind fests for loot? First i give nothing away for free because devs simply gobble up what customers post as ideas. Why should i have to post better ideas than the devs with hundreds of years of experience freely? Why do other customers post ideas freely and let them take what they want, to make the game better? Shouldnt they already have the THE idea, THE special thing going for a game like this in this decade.

So to address the Anet employee that states he will be following this thread, i am not going to give the ideas or needed mechanics away, i will tell you what is wrong with the dungeons.

On storymode, this should be optional, enough said there, nothing wrong with this part as it is after all, a storymode.

Dungeons:
1. They do not scale between 1 or 100 customers. Meaning if i want to go solo or with as little as three or as many as a hundred, they should do that. Customers should get the idea.
2. The dungeons are not randomized, all paths are the same, everytime, same art, same stupid rock by the same wall by the same crack, same mobs, bosses, power, etc. Absolutely no imagination in these dungeons, what is wrong with the devs.
3. Must every single dungeon be a fight? Again, no imagination developers, shame on you.
4. Loot blows, plain and simple. A customer must grind to get anything, no imagination, again.
5. These dungeons smack of things created 20 years ago. No change in the mechanics of the dungeon, nothing but grind.
6. Mechanics should have already been in place to prevent players spending lengthy time in the dungeons from DC’ng and not being able to collect loot, this from other posts but a supremely valid point being this problem is decades old.
7. Why isnt there ingame voice communication? The excuse should be hilarious to read.
8. Where is the imagination and humor in these dungeons? Has the hundreds of years of experience soured everyone at Anet? I am noticing a theme regarding imagination.

It makes me wonder if the game engine used simply isnt up to the task at hand if the devs imaginations and ability to program are up to snuff, that must be the explanation. A game like this, with artwork and sound so high up in quality, yet dungeon mechanics and simple..lack of fun, cast a shadow on everything else. Some dungeons are not work, most are.

I work cheap Anet, i am retired and get a decent retirement check, you contact me ingame and i will give you one idea for free that would make the customers you have love you and help your dungeons for just a moderate amount of work on your part. What have you got to lose? Except customers, laugh.

The audacity of me, i know.

The plaintiff Jane Roe, a minor. Where were the parents? Where was the supervision? Where is the responsibility to ensure anything given to a child is checked first by the parents?

Is Jane Roe, a minor, trying to gain by use of the Restatement of Tort, Attractive nuisance doctrine? Are the parents, such that they are, absent from all this and allow a minor to present damages for a case in which the parents are soley to blame for celebrating Wintersday and then passing out allowing then the child Jane Roe torun amok and grab at things and wander willy nilly?

The case against Tixx is laughable, the case will not be able to prove intentionally injury as multiple warnings are given during each event in which a doll is…………created, this case is purely confusion based on the creation statute and will be thrown out and the parents jailed for child neglect, wanton endangerment, allowing a minor to posses a dangerous weapon of mass destruction and illegal transport of dangerous items across ethereal boundries (Gates).

Bind to account

in Suggestions

Posted by: Graill.8596

Graill.8596

To stop gold sellers and farmers, and anything dealing with quest related items, gold, or any big ticket items like legendaries, new tier gear/weps etc and the things to make them so stupidly rare, they should be made bind to account. Getting these items over time is no big deal as long as there is progress.

The TP can be used for other things less trivial to trade and make gold from. Any crafted item can be placed and sold one time but not resold, it would act like a bind to account mob drop, as just one small example. Dungeon items, skins, etc, post on the TP to your hearts content and resale away. Drops however, needed to make big ticket items for the customers playing this game could actually be thought out and rates put at a sane level without the need for DR. Customers could then play and be rewarded for their time instead of time.

I understand the need to keep customers for long periods but you need those customers to buy things from your store too, driving away consumers based on code for gold sellers and farmers/grinder is telling of a problem you state you do not have but in reality you do, why have the DR or RNG code there in the first place? It is not wanted by your customers nor would it be required if things were bind to account and untradeable for the big things that matter to the customer playing the game. I could really care less for the gold sellers/grinders that make a living off your game. The game is for fun, not for some gold grinder/farmer to state it is fun to be a business in this game. They ruin my game experience. The obvious “go play somewhere else” is irrelevant before that gets typed by some gold seller/farmer.

Side note. The fix for the obvious guild bank exploit that would no doubt happen is to make the gold in the guild bank usable by only the persons account that put it there, you put in 2 gold, you get out 2 gold and no more, that includes permissions, rank, etc. Repairs can be properly redesigned as they should be with proper game mechanics so “needing” guild gold would never be an issue, neither would the Wv3 joke need the obviouse, sensible mechanic in place to use guild gold. Just to cover that. Say, off the top of my head they could…..Grin, sorry i do not give things away for free.

The devs state there is no grind or farming in this game, well this bind to account change would really make it true, as of right now, it is not, only farmers/goldesellers/grinders get anything and the customer is left with this load of worthless code used to choke these farmers etc and take the customers with them.

Opinion part,

The only people that will moan and complain about gold among other things being bind to account are goldsellers and farmers/grinders. If you think i am calling the person reading this and it stings a farmer….good.

And Anet, while you are at it, make the dye colors discovered account wide, your customers have spoken.

Folks get versatile and utility mixed up, by both definitions they are pretty near the same, and one class was named the king, it was not the Engineer. In fact, middle, average support is the vision of the Engineer, not good at long range, not good at short range, just middle.

Though you can solo farm pretty well in pve, wait, there isnt any grind or farming in this game according to Anet, my bad.

Game of the Year by Gamespot!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I wonder how much they Comped these “sites” to post them as game of the year.

I agree totally with the Art and Sound awards, that section of the Anet team deserve huge bonuses. But then no one just runs around to see the sights, do they? I cannot state enough praise for that section of Anet.

As for the game mechanics and ideas crew, they need to be fired or retrained or send these folks out and experience life or read a good book or something because they pretty much suck for ideas and execution in this game. Even the simple common sense game mechanics blow and contradict Anets vision, Read: A game made for gamers not farmers and grinders.

Dont get me started on the devs currently screwing up the player balancing or the joke that is Wv3. How does an mmo get game of the year when patches come out, and just for giggles i will use this example, one of thousands. Patch note: X skill increases from 8 seconds to 10 seconds, then the devs find the increase really doesnt work and in the next patch they change the TEXT in the tooltip to read 8 seconds, wala! Fixed! Brilliant work there devs. And yet you get game of the year, those examples abound in this game.

I will give you Art and Sound of the year, but that is all this game deserves in its current shape.

Ok, i am sure the devs will use the phrase “Moving forward” at some point in the testing of the mobs that attack from the random presents but one in particular needs looking into, at their convenience of course. These “Toys” use an aoe that is on a very fast recharge and is fairly deadly. I made the mistake of hitting a level 54 present with my level 64 guardian, after dodging the circles of death for a while i finally ran out of steam and the 6 level 54 Toy Ventari threw down 6 of the death circles and i died in an eyeblink, not slow, not painfully, but fast as santa can wink and laugh his butt off. Anet has no clue what Force Multiplier means.

In leu of a prolonged rant.

Anet, the Engineer needs a total remake. I do not want to be in the middle of the class. No other “class” is in the middle as you so proudly put it in your class vision in the latest patch notes. Pulling this class from Asherons Call 2 was a bad idea that gets worse with each patch. Why in the world call the Engineer vesatile and then name another class “Supremely versatile”, just like to rub salt in the old wounds do you devs?

Other classes have skills that are force multipliers, one shining example is the mesmer portal, this is a huge multiplier among three this class alone has. Every class has one or more examples…the Engineer has none, other than being able to run away from any situation.

And the phrase “Moving forward” is really getting old as excuses go.

On a side note, i am really enjoying my new Guardian now.

Define: Tagging a Mob

in Players Helping Players

Graill.8596

I seriously doubt even a single Anet employee can answer this question truthfully. With the responses we have seen and the mechanic behind the “bug” as they state, coupled with player feedback that is wildly different from all angles. The simple answer is this…..you get what you get. And not a single person can state otherwise.

Anet certainly cant. They could only state “How it should work” but doesnt. Do not look to see a developer stick their neck out stating something on paper as fact, they are not kept to high standards such as zero defect or time in prison for wasting money on bad programming like military contractors are (my previous specialty, fining programmers). But then, that would motivate Anet employees to make sure things work and give them the ability to post facts and not guesses so the community is not lost in an open loop of guessing like it is now.

On a side note in regards to these questions, Anet also feels it is not important or needed to stay in constant contact with its customers, i told them it was foolish to think this way. Something for customers to think about when they ask the questions like the OP did.

Nicely done OP.

But pretty much anything crafted in this game is grind and farmer oriented. Why the devs simply choose to maintain this mechanic is beyond me, most likely no imagination and some misguided thought process that alot of something equals keeping players in a game.

When the recipes call for hundred/hundreds of anything then the mechanic and the person making that mechanic is flawed.

Maybe in a few patches Anet will find a more common sense approach to non grind, non farmer game mechanics and get creative on drops and or quests for drops. Right now RNG, grinding, Farming, isnt for me. In the meantime i will explore and enjoy the sound and artwork.

One Time Events: "Life's Not Fair."

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Graill.8596

Graill.8596

Life is not fair has nothing to do with a video game as a video game has nothing to with real life other than the wasting of it timewise, though a large demographic do live in MMO’s, but that is another subject.

The op made their point now i will counter. One time events are things that are supposed to be spectacular in both execution and scope, neither of which Anet has accomplished. Current score for delivery of events if i am accurate is 1 for 3 so far, anet stating moving forward they need to tighten their shot group, which everyone agrees with obviously due to the feedback of the survey and Anets admission.

That aside the OP made a great point, missing a game event is not or should not be the end of the world, in real life, though again with some folks that live in these games it is if they miss it.

The solution? Drumroll…………the only solution is the one chosen by the developers of the game, nothing more.

Could they make the event, any event, all day, repeating constantly for X number of days, sure they could, but they could also make the event a suprise, no one knows about it until “pop” it happens randomly and be world changing, give out great buttstomping loot and people would go ballistic.

Which way is best? the one in which every one gets the loot or the one where Joebob and luke were trapsing through the jungle and each got 7 precursors for doing nothing more than tripping the great behemoth and having it fall on its own sword…………what group of people then have the right to cry and shake their fists in fury that they did not get something? Think about it.

Sure, i got disconnected a ton to the point i simply quit this last event, very disgusted at the execution and management of the event, but i also understand what one time only means….the devs can save alot of facetime by making some simple rules or even more simple announcements on what type of event will take place and that not everyone will get something, however, that should never be a crutch for the devs to lean on.

In the end the devs will do what they want, how they want to do it. Though how they communicate their intent is how the community will react when it finally does happen.

I have a warrior also, though low level it is a pretty fleshed out class compared to the engineer, again, the devs may fix the engineer in the future they may not, your choice as to what you want to make next. Personally i would make a guardian as that class is near perfect in both pve and pvp.

Indeed, the manifesto is garbage, not opinion, fact. The game is nothing more than a grinding farming hell due to dev mechanics.

I state over and over i will not farm and then while traveling around the maps to maintain my sanity i find myself absent mindedly bombing groups and i stop shake my head, curse the appropriate people and move on.

In my opinion….the devs working on content and grind mechanics need to get with the art department and the sound department and take lessons, as both of those groups have done a stellar job.

On a side note, I was at a safeway shopping and a person used the number 250 in a conversation..i alsmost punched them in the face i twitched so bad.

Untrue, they do not need to exist, any type of sink that has no utility, and bag runes are one example are never needed. The only people that believe gold sinks need to exist are the devs…and you obviously.

This quote made me laugh:

  • “In gw1 we had dungeons that required skill and dungeons which required less skill for those who wanted to run them due to casual player skill.”

I love how this last decade has raised children to think “Skill” has a set meaning, that only groups have it, and anyone not in a group has “Less to no skill” too funny. These same children are raised to think MMO means “Must group”, also humorous.

This post is light hearted, including the ending, so please do not project your own feelings in guessing what i meant. If i want to specify some particular emotion i will include an emoticon for those that need things explained to them. I do not post alot, and i never reply to a thread once made (Except this one time, when i was drunk and disorderly), so have fun with it.

Somewhere, sometime someone at an Arena net meeting table said “Hey, lets make a utility support class, and i know just the game we can pull it from”, Everyone at the table already buzzed on energy drinks and designer coffee all giggled in unison bobbing there heads up and down. They all turned to “Fred”, Fred looked up from his comic book and said…“Huh? What?”. The Engineer was born.

Now Fred did a decent job on the PVE aspect of the Engineer, not great but the Engineer can usually find a group if they respec for healing and support. In SPVP the stock Engineer is fine, again, in the middle of the pack or higher. It is when we want to be “something else”, in accordance with the number of things we have available….that problems begin to show. This is also very evident in Wv3 where the Engineer should be a nasty little devil, instead we are an annoyance to be dealt with and dropped quickly so the important targets can be dps’d down, even with tons of toughness.

Alot of talented folks on these forums have ran the numbers as best they can and hundreds of mediocre and average builds infest the internet tubes, nothing stands out, not even the vaunted grenadier build or bunker build. We just had 30 bullet points applied to the engineer in a recent patch, all i can type about that is….wtf over.

My point is this, There are far, far more talented folks griping (with good reason) on this forum about the lousy developer performance in regards to the Engineer and other things, my ideas aside some of these other ideas would be welcome fixes verse the crap we have now. That isnt a callout, its a very simple fact.

With 22 years and change being retired military, 3 wars, 4 years of combat, travel to and support of over 25 countries that i can remember offhand during that time. I have accumulated alot of wisdom and imagination because of my experiences, what developer among Anet has the imagination, common sense, creativity, personel management skills or leadership that comes with that type of life experience? Without even looking at a resume i doubt any Anet employee has. That also isnt a callout, its a fact.

That is the rub though isnt it? People with no life experience and limited interaction or travel or usable wisdom, consider themselves “Worldmakers”. No wonder the Engineer class is so ate up. Start over devs, suck up that pride and tell the lawyers to take a long break and use some of the ideas the good folks on the Engy forum have submitted or ask me to help, it doesnt matter, anything will be better than what we have now.

I think the devs simply thought taking a class from Asherons Call 2 and adding stuff to it would be neato, well, it didnt work Anet, should have left it alone and just ported it directly, it might have worked out better, or were there license issues? Grin.

Kudos to the art and sound team though, you guys rock. Seriously.

Hardcore or casual are last decades labels, children used them exclusively. You want descriptors that are telling of what devs force on players in an MMO. The proper descriptors nowadays are Gamer or Farmer, there is no in-between. Devs create this, devs can also fix it.

When is the storline going to show the bright, true genius of the Asurans? To win this world we need only throw shiny baubles to the humans to satiate them, give kegs of beer and a few dice to the Norn to quiet them, create a more extensive cook book to take care of the silvari, and the Charr? We need only take a prized possesion from one faction and place it in another factions area and the vicious infighting will take care of itself.

And we Asurans, we sit back and wait……“cuddly pets indeed”

Agree with posters on the one time things for achievements. As for the guy with 15k points, good for them, doesnt bother me unless they make those points usable at which point the botters and farmers would have the upper hand and gamers would be left holding the “empty” bag as usual.

Remember, bad players are created by bad dev game mechanics.

Are we not allowed to earn gold?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Graill.8596

Graill.8596

@OP, you make alot of statements and this particular one among many caught my eye, why would a person, not a bot player, boxer or gold farmer make this statement?

""""Then, because of the bots ( presumably, since ArenaNet is biased against them and is responsible for introducing new stuff), Diminishing Returns was implemented, and we earned less""""

The word “biased” and “we”, who is we? and why would you even remotely state Anet is biased about bots when bots are garbage that ruin a game, any game, and the players that use them are garbage. You should be praising Anet, not calling them biased as this makes you look suspicious.

When you state “we” , are you referencing other gamers or gold farmers or other bots? This is a highly suspicious thread and from the the context as typed i have to assume the OP is a disgruntled gold farmer/bot user, you simply left too many tells and freudian slips in your post.

As for the DR, a much more complex problem as it is tied in with so many of the games dev created mechanics, can be eliminated by simply making all money bind to character or account and only usable to buy things from the TP in a limited way, read, non tradable, only gold sellers would rant negatively about this. A long list of materials of all levels needs to be bind to account if they have anything to do with quest weapons or armor, period. Allowing crafted items to be sold one time and bind on purchase per account would also alleviate the need to nerf drops, as other things would be available for trade and market manipulation, like seaweed and such chuckle.

Making weapons and armor wear out, regardless of what level it is would make a semi working economy and provide a plausible reason to increase drops/gold for the devs other than have player hoard low drop items and turn into a farmer. But then the game mechanics created by the devs are the problem, not the players. Bad devs create bad players. To back that statement up i have only to reference the stupid low drop rates aside from the DR, the number “250”, and quest items tied to DR and the TP in the first place.

The devs can fix alot of things, they just do not want to, like differentiating types of drops for any multitude of things that do not directly impact the gameplay and economy combined, but then this might close the gap between gamers and farmers….and Anet does not want that.

GW2 Endgame - Level 80 Now What?

Graill.8596

Hi OP, what is left? A ton, let me list what you can do.

1. You can farm for your legendary if you do not have one, this will take hundreds, if not thousands of hours of grinding mobs to gain all components, but hey, longevity in an MMO is what people want, right, win win!

2. You can run dungeons over and over and over and over and over and over to get badges to get a new weapon or armor skin.

3. You can re-run the odd sights you noticed during exploration as the majority now give you an achievement whereas they did not the first time you discovered them….

4. The jumping puzzles are always a hoot to re run…..

5. You can spend all your hard earned gold crafting, and even getting an achievement for learning all the craft trades.

6. You can start farming Plix, the ultimate in a farming end game reward, over and over and over and over…..

7. You can farm the magical number…250!!!! As this number is the key to all recipes in this wonderful magical land.

8. You can begin the Fractal of the mists dungeon, the place where the new vertical progression starts, also a new feature in GW2!! Get your ascended gear!

9. You can pvp in a semi structured environment or world verse 3, bring lots of gold though, and only play at a certain time, and transfer to the currently winning server to ensure your greatness in history.

Whew! Lots to do once you hit level 80!!

YOU need to understand YOUR view is also irrelevant seeing what you tried to do to those two folks. YOU need to understand that MMO does not mean people have to group, it is a choice, the same goes for soloing. If you need your hand held because you are incapable of performing simple or complex tasks by yourself or the game has a certain group mechanic then that is your choice, do not ever state MMO means the game is all about grouping…it is not.

MMO means, and this is to educate you, a game with masses of people online doing what they enjoy…….not doing what you think they should shootsfoot.

The REAL Manifesto:...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Graill.8596

So OP, this is the same manifesto that states they will not make a “grindy” game, the same manifesto and dev blogs that state “we will reward the thousands of hours played”, that the manifesto you are referring to? Those are direct quotes.

The game currently is GRINDY, is a FARMFEST, is a mathmatical oddity of 250 rare whatever that takes, what are the series of words i am looking for? Grinding and farming and rote action does not reflect the manifesto, the game is not fun, but it is pretty and has some great music.

What is new or innovative about gw2 in regards to this? Instead of standing on a soapbox defending the “Manifesto” you need to hold the devs accountable verse what has been released, after that, you can give them kudos for the few good things like the artwork and sound.

They have indeed done a fair share of good things, but the bad still far outweighs the good. NO team lead is going to tell a consumer with common sense, “Well, we knew this would cause grief and yet we released it anyway and in fact had nothing prepared in the long or short term to address it other than our patented statement of protection which is We see our mistakes and look forward to correcting them moving forward”, words to that effect.

The manifesto was made for a reason, not to give plausible deniability to the developers in these cases. The devs need to be held to task and to standard. Manifesto aside it seems that alot of developer choices are not thought out or planned properly, my basis for this? The last 3 months and to many “moving forward” statements and dev apologies.

What a sad cluster. Is this how a professional game company does a question and answer? What was the point to that trainwreck.

I do not sponsor people but in this case Lorechief did a kitten fine job in collecting a varied and believable set of questions from the community and Anet simply ignored it and the clowns hosting this fiasco did not push the issue for want of angering the developers. Very sad hosting, poorly done and unprofessional.

Anet developers contradicted themselves, the worst was the developers stating they KNEW what was going to happen when the vertical progression went into effect and yet they did not have any fixes in place and the devs stated they have learned lessons in this regard ad naseum, etc, etc.

“We have learned lessons moving forward”, i am so tired of reading that. Is anyone in charge at ANET?

The devs would have been safer not answering questions at all since everything they stated was already “guessed” by players posting on other threads regarding what would happen to certain aspects of the game, meaning players already know the aftermath of the dev failures and devs simply stating the obvious did not answer anything.

It is a mathmatical oddity that the devs release content and then back track or apologize stating they KNEW what was going to happen in regards to feedback and yet….there is never anything in place to fix those mistakes, except excuses…..and why have the mistakes or poor ideas in the first place if you know something will not work?

Pathetic. I guess the new business model is to half donkey things and apologize afterword….moving forward.

Warriors do not need to be touched by the devs. Warriors are close to perfect now, along with ele’s, mesmers, guardians and necros. Still a few classes that need a bit more than just touch up work. My having a warrior and an engineer, engi is still one that needs bug fixes first before it gets a buff or balance run, last patch did nothing for engineers.

Every class still needs the healing aspect tweaked a bit upwards or some sort of sliding scale/tradeoff for dps verse healing in the tools menus.
