I’ve been using runes of Hoelbrak on Cat Mage for extended might for imagined burden and more power also with signet of humility + hoelbrak runes bad control condtions don’t last very long

I’m sharing the fires of Rodgort with my ranger Tara Monster Master Cat Mage and her trade it back and forth

For myself in pvp I’ve been playing condtion mesmer fire/confusion/torment for more hp/s and it cuts through the defenses warriors and rangers have where they take zero damage for a short time. Also 2 on a scepter is a great way to wear down thives or anyone else wanting a piece of Cat Mage. That torment damage adds up

I’m getting Rodgort soon the legendary torch for Cat Mage. Can you always change stats? Or once you pick the stats you’re stuck with them. Just curious

signet of inspration is all you need I use flame legion runes and even if you drop to zero speed when swiftness dies off you’ll be back to speed boost again shortly so it evens out. (balth runes for condtions damage)

For a more direct damage build. My condtions build is more defensive with more hit points and condtions to wear down guardians etc. This build is still fire based for a mesmer, but much more direct damage. I still have signets and torch for condition cleansing.

just added a signet fire runes for torch burning as well random condtions from winds of chaos. Lots of condition removal and 4 on torch lets me get away for a short time and it blows up in people’s faces. Like the norn says fire burns

water for self healing and healing your dungeon or pvp team fire for condtion dmg and power arcane for dodges and faster rezzing. support and attack all in one how can you lose?

My Cat Mage attack build. based upon phantasms doing the damage for me. The torch 4 and 5 remove condtions as well do signets. I have shatter to blind and do some damage and reflect with F4 (Distortion.) I’m not using a complex build it’s just all out attack. DE adds to shatter fodder as does disenchanter to knock away condtions and boons from the opposite color team.

All out attack with illusions high precison and ferocity and torch tactics to burn and get out of harm’s way for a while. (also 4 and 5 on the torch take away conditions with cleansing conflargaration.)

Let the illusions do the damage for you and DE to make yourself less likely to be found by the enemy team.

A tanking build that works very well in dungeons and pvp. Be tanky and inflict a slow death is a good combo wherever you go

Glamour mastery for veil and feedback and prismatic understanding for boons and invisabilty also it’s helpful for dungeons such as CM or SE to run through mobs when they can’t see you. longer confusion adds to more damage through illusionary mage and 3 on scepter

I just joined as a Cat Mage to OMFG. I’m not perfect but I’m always learning on what to do as a mesmer cat. The traits I use for ethier Cat Mage or Gate Guard work well for dungeons or pvp. Cat Mage is squishy but does high damage. Gate Guard does slow damage over time but he’s built like a cloth tank so he can take a lot more hits.

I hope to learn more from OMFG and perhaps help other mesmers if they have questions.

The Chaos trait line offers 300 toughness and 30% more boon duration. Prismatic understanding just adds to that with free boons and slighty longer invisabilty.

less damage per illusion inflicted on you and your illusions recieve more hp so they take hits for you before flopping over dead at a single hit.
scepter condi damage and stronger illusions. Toughness adding more condi damage for you. 10% isn’t much but the high toughness still adds a lot. condi damage is a slower dps however this build works great for dungeons instead of falling over dead after a few hits as a squsiher class or as a Cat Mage.

0,0,6,4,4 is so-so with pvp as I’ve discovered Cat Mage’s direct attack build works so much better. HOWEVER Gate Guard has been doing really well in dungeons not dying. Cat Mage is squishy and dies in a few hits. The AI of dungeons has a tricky time taking me down when with the right pink accessiores and gear Gate Guard has 2,800 toughness and high condi dmg 1,300 or 1,400 or so. Condi is a slower death then direct damage,however PU will boon you all day long while you Mass invis the group in the right spots. Maybe this build is wrong for pvp and just being a pest,but being a cloth wearing tank isn’t bad for honor of the waves sorrow’s embrace etc.

Yeah every kill makes you distorted for three seconds and your illusions/clones get one second upon summons. I see invinceable a lot when my berserker changes through someone or after I kill someone and I get attacked.

It’s been working fine for me. Traveler runes to roam around freely and celestial to insure I have a little bit of everything. The torch skills knock out conditions and three illusions on the field give me a nice 9% damage boost. TD is worth it for when everyone wants a piece of you and you recently spiked one of their buddies. All I see is invulnerable for a few seconds as I flicker as the enemy team targets me. Besides TD adds more precision and Ferocity to my damage how is that bad?

Triumphant distortion is all about making sure your clones and phantasms aren’t hit right away and when you make a kill you’re rewarded with a few seconds of being invinceable yourself. This is a build to make your phantasms to do crazy damage with high crits and ferocity. Using the moa at the right time is a sure way to throw down damage while your target is a big bird. Cleansing conflagration is about a quick get away and burning baddies plus 3 on your sword options so the target gets blurred frenzy and the prestige burn in thier face.

It’s been working for me so far. I’ve had players run away when i’m at a point when they realize i’m about to down them. Or it’s taken forever to kill me so the oppisite color team wastes time on me instead of capturing points.

prismatic understanding with decoy massinvisabilty and the prestige also malicous sorcery for the scepter. condi removal with arcane theivery and boon grabbing. Which is great when my boon duration is fairly high.

lousy power but the condtions kick in you’ll wear down the opposing player or make a quick escape when things aren’t going your way.

I’m in another guild so sadly I can’t jump ship to your guild (yes I’ve seen the OMFG tag around.) however I pvp a lot as Cat Mage and my build has been working fairly well. I tried my tank mesmer build and that made me very hard to kill but lousy dps. However my illusions build with 4,6,0,0,4 has been working pretty well. I’m not invinceable but it’s been working in my favor and playstyle.

The prestige is nice to avoid being seen with invisabilty and the blind when you enter stealth. however it won’t stop that guardian push back with 2. better off using distortion againist that with 3 pink orbs or any downed player if possable. The prestige is a good second option or also decoy so the down player hits the wrong mesmer which isn’t you.

Also if you prestige behind the downed player he/she won’t see you until it’s too late when he’s attacking someone else.
(It’s a nice scare when they didn’t see a Cat Mage from behind ready to spike em in mid air.)

I’ll give it a try anyway. Worst that can happen is it doesn’t work for me but at least I gave it a shot. It took a while for people to kill me though.

High heals and high precsion for higher crit and higher healing with soothing winds and eagle runes.

According to Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 a Catmage is a 100 year old cat capable of magic. So to match his name I made him look like one.

well I’ve taken your advice and maybe this build works better but i’m still sticking with the torch major trait.

With the first major trait in illusion compounding power having illusions on the field gives me a lot of dps + Domination gives all illusions 15% more dmg anyway. Iillusionary elasticity gives mirror blade more bounce and also to the mage and disenchanter.

The prestige from the torch removes conditions as does the mage with cleansing conflagaration. And the prestige is useful in finishing moves as the downed person can’t see you. also the disenchanter removes conditions from yourself and allies and rips boons from the enemy.

The minor trait under illuisons also reduces the cooldown on illusions.
I drop damage with them on the field even if my crit rate is low. And stay alive a while when I can remove conditions and hobble away with prestige and or decoy. Me and a guildie were bunkering a point annoying the other team.

confounding suggestions is there as a good way to daze the target with F3 shatter. which also adds confusion with the first minor trait under Illusions. I don’t use mantras so why would I pick empowering mantras?
