To venture a guess: body blocking is more or less impossible to incorporate without alienating a large portion of the player base. Many people play this game on subpar hardware, the additional calculations required would make it unplayable during zerg content and wvw.
It is my understanding that there are 2 different things. There are mastery points that are used to unlock progression tracks and to unlock higher tiers inside these tracks. And then there is experience that you use to actually progress. You can earn mastery points everywhere once and use them to unlock whatever track you like. There is a limited amount of mastery points you can earn, to be extended whenever a new update gets released. Experience for a specific track however, you can only earn on a specific map through playing. Depending on how many stages there are per track, and if the experience required for an old level up and for a single stage are the same, Tomes may work to “level” these progression tracks. It’s also possible that a Tome may work to advance a track, but wont give you enough experience for a full stage.
If we look at pvp reward tracks, I would define every time you get a reward as a stage. In PvP each track has 8 tiers, each tier has 5 rewards.
To unlock a dungeon reward track, one has to finish the story path of a dungeon. Instead of Dungeon story modes, in pve we get mastery points to unlock the tracks.

Now all that’s missing are dye collections..
If you go to a store, there isnt a checklist telling you what is and isnt included either. Swtor and other mmos on the other hand show you exactly what you are and arent buying.
Obviously, there is a greyed out “Season 2 Episodes” missing in the checklist for either Edition, so people will naturally assume it’s part of “Guild Wars 2 – Game”.
I was not aware that you still get the last Episode for free.. the 2 weeks are up.
(edited by GreenAlien.5623)
Well, it is definitely Anets fault though. Why is there still no bundle with S2 that you can buy? There are only Digital Heroic Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition.
If you dont know about S2 release model prior too buying gw2, I can see why you may be annoyed. S2 isnt mentioned at all at the “buy now” page, so it is natural to assume everything is included (because there isnt a checkmark that says it is or isnt, I would just count it to gw2-game myself)).

They wont get transformed to mastery points. They are not taking skill points out of the game. You still need them for unlocking skills and mystic forge stuff. It makes no sense to randomly transform them and many people have thousands of skill points.. Anet doesnt want everyone and their mother to have more mastery points than they will ever need right after release.
So yes, even a non dev can answer that part of the question.
If it will be harder to get new skill points, will be almost entirely up to what content you play. If you only play that “high level content” you will probably soon be sick of Scroll of Knowledge loot.
Doubt it. This isnt an action-adventure game.
There are probably some masteries that give various stat improvements under specific conditions, improved protection/immunity from evil dmg/condition dealing mechanics, hopefully something that improves run speed and reduces fall dmg., marginal loot improvements and stuff like that…
The gliding and lore thing sound like the “big” mastery features.
I expect the rest to be pretty generic..
I want a “use/open all” button to avoid pointless clicking.. If that where the only new thing in the expansion i think i would still buy it.
Maybe it’s time to pause working on the expansion.. and fix some of the progress stalling bugs that have been there for months, before releasing more broken stuff.. I can already imagine the rage when half the events needed for precursor collections are bugged and not fixed for a year.
I dont care who drops or doesnt drop what. I just want magic and gold find to actually matter, otherwise it’s pointless and should be scratched.
How can humans work together with charr? Enemies can work together if they have a reason to do so (like a big, scary dragon).
Are Masteries limited to just the jungles?

I think a better comparison than wvw rank points are achievement points. From what I read you get points through challenges and story missions, and those points will be account bound.. That sounds, like there will be a limited amount of points, only to be extended whenever new content gets introduced.
So, what do we do until HoT is released?

Now would be the right time to release a reworked LS Season1. So new people can experience the whole story..
Instead of an increased level cap, i would rather have some form of progression involving my skillpoints. That way, leveling is still kind of involved.
I would like something like that..
for example, if i am looking to join a group that does “Pact assaulted” achievements, all those “sw x%” or “champ train” etc. groups are kind of in the way.
If i could just input “pact” as a search word to filter out everything that doesnt help me.. that would be nice.
Are we sure this isnt just going to be S2 sold as a bundle?
I would rather not have to kill every single dragon. The pact/other could kill some dragons without us, and we only hear about it via ingame lore while doing something else.
That does not invalidate my statement. What Gaile basically tells us is that their people are working on other stuff and that they are not willing to hire someone else it to get it fixed. → They dont think it is all that important. (Which isnt a bad call if their resources are that scarce..)
(edited by GreenAlien.5623)
A: Because nobody in charge cares about it enough to get it fixed.
Dont design it in a way that opens all rng containers at once then. Just because the interface says “open all” doesnt mean the code behind it has to open them all at exactly the same time.
Dont forget the ability to buy more than 1 item at merchants. Buying those Sun Beads for Hylek Weapons was awful.
It’s horrible and something should have been done about it a a long time ago.
Reward: 1 Sip of Liquid Karma + 2 Scrolls of Experience
I really cant agree with that reward.
Wasnt the whole idea : “Rather than having a generic reward for all achievements, each one will give players something that is thematically tied to the content they’re playing.”
Well, I’m sorry I have to say it, but that reward is pretty generic.
A good thematically tied to content reward would have included Bandit Crests.
Crafting isnt a solution for all the other stuff like bags or wintersday presents..
3) There is a specific item you need to unlock the collection. Heirloom Toybox – it drops from presents and you can buy it from players..
What is the tonic starter item called?
That’s strange. i felt i missed most but still got it.. maybe my perception was off :-/
Did you even try the bell choir? That is all that is required, you know?
It also makes no sense to give lv 1 characters dailies like “kill the greatjungle worm”.
Those 3 achievements are done even faster than the old ones.. i like it..
But stats are all affordable and while changing the stats on the fly like you can do with legendaries may be nice, it’s just a qol improvement that you can do without. Looks are personal preference. I dont find the legendary skins all that great e.g.
So, you cant really say that the good stuff is out of reach of the average player, when it is your own fault for deciding that the good stuff is the rare stuff..
Of course.. there is also the matter of deciding on what exactly “the average player” is and how much time/effort qualifies as “out of reach”.
(edited by GreenAlien.5623)
the “good stuff” would just be the regular stuff if everyone had it.
Dry Top isnt a casual map… It’s like the Great Jungle Wurm of maps. There is a need for some central organisation if you want to succeed T6. There are various guilds/communities that do this daily. Silverwastes is more like Tequatl. The more people become familiar with it, the easier it succeeds even with out much organisation..
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dredge_weapons
We have Hylek, Grawl, Krait and Ogre collections… Dredge are still mia.
Can you please change the direction the pc is facing when using this waypoint? This is so annoying. I have to turn around everytime I use that wp, sometimes i forget and run in the wrong direction… There is nothing to do in the current direction. I bet 99.9999% of the people that use that wp are facing the wrong direction for whatever they want to do.
This is a minor issue, put if it doesnt take much effort please consider it.
Scholar Brendan has possibly been fixed too.. Did it a week or two ago.. but there is always the chance i just got lucky with a fresh map. Just try it again.
I simplified for ease of understanding. Seems like that backfired..
No, and why do you? If you buy a 100 gems instantly via the exchange for gold, the system doesnt care about people who exchange gems for gold after you. It would only matter if you buy em over a time period. I’m still talking about the starting post, where Rash complains about the price difference between buying gems for one gold, and buying gems for 100 gold.
(edited by GreenAlien.5623)
The exchange rate depends on people selling gems, so that others can buy them. It is possible that anet supplies some artifically if there is more demand than supply, but the prices dont change for fun.
For every gem you buy, you will have to pay more for the next one because there are less gems avaibable. It has been like this from the beginning. That you only get that now, is a + point for the new system.
Why those hidden Achievements anyways gaile? Could you please ask a Dev also, whats the sense behind this pointless mechanism – a mechanism, that adds nothing to the games but, but rather creates only bugs that annoy tons of people??
Or do you think that it overwhelms again everybody?
I’m not one of them, but supposedly there are people who like to explore and uncover secrets.
(edited by GreenAlien.5623)
These are some great changes. Good job!
I understand and sure, as a player, I’d like that info. But that isn’t what the company is doing right now, and we all know, under it all, that someone saying “to hell with policy” isn’t a professional stance to take. This is where we are right now. Not forever, but right now.
Well, what you(anet) are doing now isnt a professional stance either. I cant believe your marketing division agreed to this policy . Were they even consulted? You are not building space ship with new Warp drive technology that has to be kept secret because otherwise governments and competitors will steal it. You are not a secret service. You are not a terrorist organisation. You are not planning world domination (at least i hope not).
“Not telling our customers what we have in store for them? Sounds great, that would make us more mysterious, chicks dig it and so do gamers. Everyone knows that!”
-Wrong! It doesnt build hype, it doesnt bring in new players, it doesnt make us tell our friends about the game, it doesnt give us a chance to stop you from making a mistake or appreciating your efforts, it gives us nothing to look forward to. It also gives us nothing to complain about and focus on, except your silence. What it does, is alienate players who are emotionally invested in your game, and make people who are not that invested move on. I cant believe you have to be told that by your customers.

Those salvaged armor pieces dont have to drop anything at all, except the sigil/rune and many people would be happy already.
I really just want to see another “Looking ahead” blog post. That was something people could get excited about. Now, if you would also keep us informed if there are changes to that outline instead of just never mentioning it again or giving us platitudes, that would go a long way.
Is anet moving away from the living world- feature patch – living world – feature patch cycle?
Because this sounds like something that would normally be part of a feature patch, and would have served to make the next one more exciting.
I wouldnt say impossible. I was on a T6 map a few hours ago. Organizing works well with TS.
You need to farm for crests anyway and in next LS we get the fang extractor..
I dont see the problem.
Are endless waves of malformed modrem teragriffs intended with challenge mode on? Everytime i kill one, a new one spawns and he just continues on as normal.. i’ve been trying this for an hour now, and i dont have time to do damage to him because those things dont despawn like they do without challenge mode :-/
Edit: Nevermind, it was a bug. I started a new instance and it was much easier..
