For some reason, I see a few exploits coming out of this “breakout” event. Feels like an attempt to “hold hands” with the outmanned server. In short: “/ezymoed.”
Moreso, like… repair bills should be disabled when outmanned. The world Is large enough to surpass the enemy and start everything from scratch.
Not everyone Is Lv 80 and/or has proper gear/traits @ WvW…. which renders this video as invalid.
Your explanation Is like… “We are animals: we don’t have opinions…. but instincts.”
Humankind Is not at risk due to volcanos, earthquakes, or wars: but Generalization.
—
All of this “drama” Is happening due to a “manifesto violation”, or a “ANet’s idealogy has been corrupted by money and capitalism”. Not the Ascended gear itself. I think one of the devs already mentioned that the Ascended gear will not be exclusive to dungeons only; but obtainable elsewhere.
All I have to say Is… If they really “threw the manifesto out of the window” expecting to gain more players and sell more, they did a terrible and horrible move.
This “no grind idealogy” has been held by more than 7 years. They had enough loyal people to maintain and sustain this game for years. And turning back to the manifesto, once again, expecting more game sales and such while doing so, will actually work as the other way around: their loyal fanbase will leave; while the “new” players will play this game for a couple days and leave due to lack of “carrots” to follow.
Are there plans to reduce DR or to remove It? It seems to be have softened up this patch. But some reason, this still irks me somehow. As a legit player, I’d enjoy a bit of farming on a single spot instead of changing maps often In order to avoid DR.
I’d like some information about this, If possible.
Thanks for your attention, and sorry If this Is not the place for this thread.
Why nobody has commented on this? This suggestion seems to be valid and flawless, imho. Takes less than a second for a group of 10 to wipe the gate guards.
They need to be stronger, to (at least) reduce the chances of a keep to be zerged.
“Vertical”, where It’s pretty much self-explanatory: Progression that emphatises/promotes POWER. Where players are given a single method to obtain what Is emphatized the most: POWER. No alternative Is given to obtain that power. Nothing. Nada. Only the nonstop repetition and dedicated time, In order to make the player feel “accomplished” and “satisfied” with… … the dedicated time.
That, my friends, Is what I call a way to alienate players: content Is FORCED towards everyone’s throat and there’s nothing we can do about It, other than follow the mindless track of button mashing to reach the ultimate goal: POWER.
Call me a drama queen, like “Hey, nothing has been said about It yet. Give It time.” That’s not really true: “This is just the beginning. In November, we’re only adding the first level of Infusions and Ascended Rings and Back slots”. It’s on the blog. They have plans to add even more stronger and EXCLUSIVE TO DUNGEONS gear. Can you imagine what will be, on the years to come? The same thing you see from the current MMORPG’s, since way back where everyone actually ENJOYED being ALIENATED.
As you may notice by reading this far, I was one of those who saw Colin’s smile, with all the hype and such, where *grinding was something that was a OPTION, not MANDATORY In order to archieve progression In Guild Wars 2."
Not like “they” would read this and say “Chillax, Gust… we were trolling the community. It’s all a joke. Here’s a cup of water to chill you out. HAHA, YOU FEEL FOR IT!”. And we all laughed at each other.
Yeah, I know.
Just… shoving this out of my throat. Feels better now, If you ask me.
Now… I’ll get back to embrace and accept that *GW2 will become “Yet another MMO” that the devs promises It would NEVER be".
My heart Is broken.
Good bye.
haha who cares. all this hate. There is barely anything to do in the game right now besides mindless karma farming and leveling new characters to 80. At least this gives you something to do. The player base is bored!
I’m In the mood to bite some baits, so I’ll hop on this one.
It had several options for karma farming: Ones being more “effective” than the other ones. Way different than Ascended gear, that gives dungeons as the ONLY viable option to adquire such gear. Which Is a bad thing.
Really, people, what is wrong with vertical progression?
It promotes power and repetition over everything else.
To make It more clear: Forces a player to repeat a specific content over and over again for a single goal: obtain more power, promoting elitism.
LF1M ONLY full Ascended geared allowed , link gear on /w.
Anyone see this happen ?
That already happens with exotics.
More content, less grind.
That’s all.
Uh, the game already is a grinding farm game. What do you think “farming in Orr” is, other than repeating the same thing over and over again?
The difference Is that Orr Is one of the ways to adquire money In order to obtain exotic equip/gear. While Ascended can only be obtained via dungeons, letting dungeons as the only “viable” option to adquire such gear.
There’s nothing that proves the above statement as “true”, since It’s based on rumors that are being spreaded around the Internet and In most famous fansites about GW2. But still.
I can’t really say much, since the content has not been released yet. Other than If the game forces me to REPEAT so I can adquire EXCLUSIVE CONTENT…. then yeah. I’ll join the QQ parade, call GW2 another “WoW clone”, and get back to the drawing board.
Just like 28 years ago.
Might as well a dev pop In here and say the following:
“Nope, you don’t need to repeat content to obtain Ascended gear.”
Then, everything will be fine and life will move on.
For me, at least.
t* In order to ADQUIRE such gear.
That’s all I have to say about Ascended gear.
Warrior will get a Greataxe.
Calling It now.
So, in other words, Karma?
Pretty much. But with a twist.
Okay, title (and the idea) sounds pretty goofy, but picture the following:
In a press of a button, all events and xp gained from monsters become unavailable, and “Heroic points” comes In. And this time, instead of focusing on xp and events… the player must focus on helping other players/NPC’s.
Yep, It’s sorta like a “Roleplaying As-The-Hero-You-Meant-To-Be with rewards”.
You know, those helpless NPC’s (Civilians…. uh…. to innocent bunnies?) that monsters attacks often? If you save em, you will gain heroic points. Save a player from a downed state! You will gain heroic points. (Yeah, I know, this can lead to exploits. Maybe giving points to the player If the downed player meets a certain requirement…?) And so on, so forth.
Oh, “What about the Heroic Points?” you may ask. Take em as a “Karma 2.0”, with a some sort of unique NPC In Lions Arch that sells, uh… unique cool-looking armor/weapons/costumes/toys. Something heroic, mayphaps.
That’s It! Now, feel free to call me a goofy… only on the comment section below this. Have fun.

New Item Quality Level – Ascended
While it remains to be seen exactly how many new items are being added in terms of new weapon or armor sets, we do know that a new quality level is being introduced: Ascended. This will be one step higher than exotic quality items, so it will be interesting to see how that impacts gearing up at level 80. As things stand currently, level 80 rares are basically something you only equip while piecing together an exotic set, and from there most people either salvage them for ectos or sell them on the trading post.
Hopefully the ascended gear will be somewhat difficult to obtain, otherwise it might end up greatly devaluing exotics moving forward. New items are also supposed to be hitting the current dungeon vendors, so I’m also curious to see how that will fit into the bigger itemization picture. According to ArenaNet, this new item quality is intended to help give the endgame a more distinct sense of progression, so I’d imagine that there won’t be a massive amount of ascended gear hitting the live game right away either way.
It’s also worth noting that with the update there will be a new resource to harvest, along with 200 new crafting recipes being added. Presumably these will be focused on the ascended quality level as well, so it will be interesting to see how expensive the new recipes will be to create given the current high production costs on exotic gear.
There we go. Ascended gear can be crafted.
Nothing new to see here. Moving on.
I, for one, don’t mind stronger equipment being added to the game: as long as the game doesn’t force me to adquire It.
….well, If those “Ascend” gear can be crafted and/or adquired via mobs… I’m okay with this.
But If the game forces me to make dungeons In order to adquire such gear… then yes, this Is a flop and starting to go downhill.
This would be… curious… but I’m not sure they would help much.
They won’t behave as like any player would do. They wouldn’t follow commander’s orders and such. More like, a group of 20 ~ 40 bots (Depending on how many players the outmanned server Is lacking) patrolling around. Sure, that won’t do much, but It’s better than a buff that increases status that will not do any good against players… motivating others to farm instead of helping the server to surprass that moment.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Quaggan-as-a-playable-race
Yeah, I suggested the same thing a while ago.
… how about bots filling up the empty space on the outmanned server? Yeah, I know…. It’s bots: they don’t have feelings, perfect aiming, etc…. but It’s better than nothing. And It’s better than a buff that pretty much says “Hey, you are losing and there’s nothing you can do about It! HA, TOUGH LUCK.”
tl;dr: Make bots spawn to substitute players who left WvW.
Veteran guards dies too quickly and are somewhat useless In WvW. They need to become stronger. And making em become “Legendary” at maximum level/upgrade may resolve this issue.
I hope this Is accepted and adressed to the team asap.
Downed state Is kind of silly, imho. Specially If you are doing 1v1 fights. I mean, there’s no way a downed player can fight back and get back on his feet by yourself against one or two players… unless I’m missing something.
Now, since GW2 Is based towards teamwork and E-Sports… It adds strategy and makes you “think” between using a knockdown/interrupt skill on that guy who’s attacking you, or on the guy trying to finish that downed player a bit far away from you, etc.
Guild Wars 2 Is 2 ~ 3 months old. It’s still crawling. And yes, I was one of those who saw Colin says “When It’s ready” and cringed like a little girl expecting Guild Wars 2 to be the second coming of Christ, and such.
Thing Is: At this rate, you can’t expect all the problems to be solved In a single patch, or you will get REALLY dissapointed. There’s alot of work to be done. Most problems gives a feel of “amateur’ish”, or even “God, how this came to exist In this game” and such. I know your pain. But give It time, because this Is a long time run fix… not something to be solved In a single day. Go play another game and let some problems be solved. Just give It time.
Apparently, the game Is taking forever to render players and even castle/keep walls while playing on WvW. Sometimes on PvE, too.
Is there a problem with my PC, or game? What should I do about this? I never had such problem In any MMORPG I played before. Here are the screenshots.
You seem to be making a big deal out of small things that you are meant to ignore and move on.
Can’t tell If you really didn’t enjoyed this game or you were expecting GW2 to be WoW 2.0, heh.
If I could give a prize for “The most senseless music I ever heard”, I would give to this guy who composed this.
Specially after knowing he did so right at the day of my birthday, heh.
@insaneshadow, Glad to see we both share the same “Knight-who-must-do-his-job” feel while battle’ing. That’s a amazing choice.
@EdwinLi, You seem to be a fan from the Orcs Must Die franchise. Cool choices, anyways.
@Turtlemilk, Isn’t that too much tense from a moment of battle? Can you hear the sound of swords hitting, monsters grumbling, etc at all?
@Ryuujin, God, those lyrics. They are surely amazing. Lyrics surely does the whole difference, instead of a music that Is way too much pumping… but It does not have any lyric. Not saying this Is your case… your music choice surely fits with a battle really well.
@RebelYell I found It funny, for some reason. Maybe It has been the background image, who makes me picture a big pokemón battle or something. Heh.
@Minus, That sounds perfect to listen with while grouped with some friends or some guys you know that are well-aware of how the game works and such.
@Florgknight, Kinda of spooky. Needs more clones to It. And nope, don’t ask me what fits well with “clones”.
@Azoetia, Surely there’s a mix of alot of tastes, rhytm and such. I’d go dizzy If I added all of those while playing GW2, heh.
And here’s another version of the same music (Don’t ask me, I -DO- enjoy that one quite alot. It’s so fitting It hurts. mymaincharisa"knight-y"guardianlulz) but with a “Still playing games In 2012 with a beard” feel.
(edited by GustavoM.7605)
Warrior.
Banner of tactics. Banner regen trait. Spam 2.
Everyone happy.
Awesome music choices, there!
As an attempt to do a unbiased commentary, Iron Maiden had me attracted the most compared to the previous ones. “Alec’s Theme” felt sorta “Power-ranger’ish”, but still enjoyable. And Jeremy Soule, as epic as always on Skyrim.
But since I’m a d-bag and specialist on shameless bumps, here’s the same epic-kitten music, but this time… Axel Rose did It.
No, wait.
sorryicouldntresisthuehue
It I was supposed to make a decision right NOW… I’d say no. “Pub-stomping” builds or not, such “keyboard faceroll” builds exists, and they really break the E-sports purpose to this game. Battles decided In two seconds or less does not entertain a player… nor even a whole crowd.
It saddens me to say such a thing, really. I was expecting something “more” for what’ve been promised, and all the hype, etc. I’d say “Leave E-sports In a corner for now, and fix your PvP. It’s broken.”
Sadly, I couldn’t find any offtopic section, nor a topic regarding the same issue. If such exists, please do so what Is right and fix my mistake, please.
That aside, here’s what I judge as the best and most suitable theme for my lone wolfin’ hero’ish-ness ingame! You can so delight yourself of this “classic-inside-another-classic” right below this rumbling:
With that said, what Is your battle theme? That heroic music and anything that makes your heart beat and pushes you to save that damsel In distress? Post right below this senseless commentary and have fun!
As title implies, a NPC that gives buffs for a fee, and Cash-Shop exclusive. Something like, 30 minute swiftness for 5 gold, 30 minute with 10 stacks of might for 10 gold, etc. And yes, I really meant to add such high prices, to add this as a goldsink and an alternative “for those who can”.
I can presume a few commentaries saying this Is “Pay2win” methods to the game, but… here goes nothing.
Here’s a few ideas for notifications to nearby players.
- When a player Is;
- With low hp
- Not proper geared for the area/monster/event/etc.
- With broken armor
- Not In a party
- Surrounded by three or more monsters
As a game with the focus on cooperation gameplay… I find the lack of such features amusing.
Don’t make this only viable by the Lost Shores “mega-event”! Allow players to do so once per day! Like a meta events that starts In a town and goes around until a huge dragon stomps Rata Sum and It goes down to ruins. Then, a nonstop events starts there telling players to collect the debris and to help construct Rata Sum again. Or a mad Quaggan appears out of the blue yelling nonstop THE WORLD IS GONNA END In Lions Arch, until he’s pulled from a dark presence…. then players chase said thing down to a portal, fights shadows and all minion dragons possible… until that mad quaggan transforms into a dragon itself and… meh, you know the rest.
I don’t mind repeating said events, tho… If It gives players several ways to deal up with the situations and possible “endings” to It.
Make that a Quaggan or a Skritt: with exclusive events and items that sells for Karma. And events that starts In a NPC and the elements are scattered worldwide… like a scavenger hunt! “Yarr I am a pirate! Lost me grogg. Find It, you must! Tips… me mateys havey!”. You get the idea.
So… It (finally) happened.
Can’t really remember a statement regarding this, that Guild Wars 2 focuses more on cooperation than “infamy”, something like that. Sure, PK’ing can be considered something infamous, but hey… let me try this one out.
—
For anyone who has tried at least two MMORPG’s prior to Guild Wars 2 knows what I’m talking about: servers where players can kill other players, regarding If they are In a group or not. Regardless their gear, HP, or any status-enhancement item. “Why?”, you may ask, dear reader. In short and direct to the point: “Dying by a huge ganking group and forming other gank group to surprass said gank group Is FUN.” Self-explanatory.
—
Aaaand for the “Neutral WvW” server: “Deserters”, or should I say, “Players who decided to not follow any server and are on their own; where they can kill everyone… even other deserters.” Same reason stated above.
Comment away.
I…think you are requesting a mix between Necromancer and Warrior, Ganzo. But that’s not the point of this thread, I’m afraid.
Here’s a few more ideas for traits:
Burning has a small chance to explode, dealing AoE damage and burning nearby foes to your target.
Deal 5% more condition damage while holding a Staff.
5% chance to transfer a condition an enemy inflicts on you.
Symbols now has a small chance to give the Aegis buff.
2% chance to spread targets you inflict on nearby foes. This can only happen every 30 seconds.
5% chance to Orb of Wrath bounce between nearby foes.
This may sound biased and clueless, but here goes nothing.
10% chance to Heal yourself and allies by a fixed amount of 400 while receiving damage. This can only happen every 30 seconds.
Aegis now remove conditions when removed.
All Scepter skills has 1,500 range. Base attack Is reduced by 20%.
Virtue of Justice now knocks back enemies with every 10 attacks.
Dodge roll now removes conditions
Virtue of Courage passive now increases vitality by 100 instead of giving the aegis buff.
Virtue of Resolve has a 5% chance to give protection buff instead of regenerating health.
You can now move while using Shield of Absorption.
I’ll leave those for now.
Might as well give this a bump. I don’t see any harm on implement this whatsoever. I don’t mind negative criticism either, so go ahead and do your thing.
Cash-shop exclusive. Cosmetic, with no extra bonuses other than making the player look unique.
Picture the following:
Trails: When the player walks by, s/he leaves a trail of (something), just like the legendary weapons. But this time, It will be around everytime, with every weapon.
Trails of:
Gems
Gold
Pink butterflies
Rainbow
Bunnies
Hands coming from the ground (?)
etc.
—
Auras: Lighting, sparkling things that stays around the character.
Auras of:
Blue
Pink
Red
Green
Dark aura (Like the necro elite one)
“Nature” (Roots envelop the character’s body)
Flying butterflies
Bunnies
etc.
Different skill animations! Um… yeah, at this rate you already know how It works, but I’ll say again. It replaces a skill particle/weapon/animation/whatever with something new. Like, Warrior GS leap. At the end of the skill, several butterflies pops out of the sword. Or shades comes out of It screaming In terror. Or…. well, you get the idea.
Skill animations of:
(Everything I already said up there.)
—
Character walking/jumping/etc animations! Walk as a zombie! Jump as a basketball player! Attack as a drunken master! Stuff like that.
All right, this ends my suggestion. If you have readed this far: Thanks! Please do leave a comment and anything that may enhance this suggestions. Thank you.
Bumpity bump.
No comments about this at all? I’d like to hear at least two about this suggestion.
Two players. One of em with a full offensive spec. Another one, defensive.
Offensive one hits the defensive one. If more than 20% of the defensive players HP goes downhill with that hit… It’s not balanced. At least five hits are, imho, of what can be called a “acceptable glass cannon” In order to have balance and FUN for both sides. I don’t mind either slow-paced nor fast-paced PvP… as long as It “tries” to be balanced. LoL and friends agree with me, methinks.
Just sharing my point of view of what Is a “acceptable” PvP experience. Leave a comment If you agree or not, and try to avoid off-topic/agression/“L2P”/kawaii uguu and similar commentaries. Just saiyan’.
TL;DR: AT LEAST 5 hits In a battle against a tanker/glass cannon = balanced.
I could give you several reasons for both sides; what upsets one and another. But one thing Is a fact for both:
It’s just a game.
And after you blow your 5+3s on 90s cd and 3s on 30s cd? Then what?
Guardians outheal our shoutheal build, which is more viable than the banner regen one.
Shield block, traits that activates Defy pain @ 25% health and the mace block on “2” will help you get back to your party/keep/etc.
And I respectfully disagree with shout heals being better than banner regens. I mean, with regen via banners and the regen one via heal can give me a 400 health per tick, with a 1 minute regen thanks to tactic banners (i.e spamming 2 to get a extra 7 seconds on regen, plus the 10% buff duration). With that said, 4k health will be regenerated per 10 seconds, with a heal close to 6k’s, giving me two more options for utility skills (Defy pain, “Fear me!” shout) that can guarantee me a few more seconds to regenerate more 4k health. Wich imho, Is way better than shout heals.
Warriors with full cleric’s and spec’d to heal on shouts are pretty beastly tanks, but sadly they can’t compete with the guardians atm.
How so? Warriors has much more ways to negate damage In a degree that It can compensate for their lack of heal abilities, imho.
I mean, see how many seconds a Guardian can stay alive against a group of 20, In WvW. And compare It with a Warrior, both decently geared/traits/etc.
