I didn’t write the secret code down, sadly.

This is my own fault, I admit, though the instruction to do so is not really made very clear, and is placed as bullet point 9 in a list of instructions that includes a time-sensitive authentication process.

I guess I could use my phone authentication, but WinAuth doesn’t have the option on where to send the check code to. If I tried to install the mobile authenticator, will it still attempt to send one to the desktop authenticator?

I’d rather remove the garbage altogether, but I have to wait for another secret code I guess.

Very very poorly implemented change, but it isn’t really Anet’s fault this time. They didn’t write WinAuth.

Looks like I need a new secret code, and then to purge any trace of WinAuth from my PC.

I did that, ran WinAuth, found the file, and when I click Open it just goes back to the Add prompt.

Still does not allow access to the game.

I have contacted support. I also expect any daily rewards that I lose through this to be refunded to me. I did what I was told to do, and it obviously worked since I was able to play until i restarted my PC.

I consider it malware and will be removing its waste from my PC asap.

It asks for access as soon as my PC starts but doesn’t ‘open’.

When I run it manually, it goes through as if I am setting up authentication for the first time, and asks for the secret code, but of course I cannot log into GW2’s website to get any secret code… because I need WinAuth to log in.

I went through the 2-step authentication as the forum frontpage said. I don’t have a dumbphone so I went for desktop authentication.

Program installed, AVG popped up as a suspicious file detected, I clicked Ignore and went through anyway.

I got the whole authentication page, Add, clicked GW2, and did the secret number thing. Everything went fine and I played GW2, logging in and out several times to game and forum, and had no issue.

When I started my PC this morning, it asked me to verify WinAuth from an ‘Unknown publisher’ (I think) window. I tried to start GW2 and come to the forum, it keeps asking for a 6 digit code but I get no popup or email with that code in.

I am massively concerned that WinAuth runs as a Process not an Application and does not have an entry on the Programs and Features panel in Control Panel. This makes the program unfixable, and uninstallable.

At this point, even if I use Hijack This! to remove this invasive software from my config, it still will not allow me access to GW2 or the forum on my main account because they think WinAuth is still running.

When it ran through its auto setup, AVG AntiVirus flagged it as a suspicious program.

I did subsequently extract the file to its own directory. I run it, it goes back to the initial authentication process and it will not give me another secret code.

AVG still considers it malware.

If I do that, or use HijackThis! to remove WinAuth, however, will my account still expect it to be there and continue to deny access?

This program doesn’t install properly, it has no uninstall option, and I am having to click to accept it every time I start Windows.

It runs as a process, not an application.

Both AVG and AdAware consider it malware, and I cannot access exceptions for it.

And now I cannot access either the forums or the game on my main account, I am having to use my second account to post this.

Not best chuffed atm.

Regardless I will be removing this malware as soon as I get a resolution and can get my account access back.

I installed the desktop version of this invasive and inaccessible garbage on my #1 account.

I have to click to accept it as it starts up when Windows starts, but then it fails to give any authentication codes for the forum or the game.

In addition, there is no way to uninstall this malware since it fails to appear on my Programs and Features list. Luckily I have this second account to post here. I will not be activating this malware on this account.

I cannot access GuzziHero.2467 at all, anywhere. I cannot remove WinAuth and attempt to reinstall it.

Security? Yeah, I guess it is if even I can’t access my account.

Do we know anything yet about the specs required from our PCs to make HoT playable? I have an older PC, can’t justify buying a new one, but I’m worried about buying HoT only to find my machine can’t handle it.

Has anyone who has done the beta tests struggled with game performance compared to the current world? What are your PC specs, if so?

My losses were shattered wings, and both mad king tomes but through mistakes or choice I deleted them. My fault, I just gotta suck it up.

When the ship got to the giants they sat there, the ship didn’t move and no mobs spawned. I waited 7 minutes then submitted a bug report.

The challenge was not getting mad that I’d wasted time on it for nothing.

The one with 3 giants on the right? This is a very old bug which I thought they had fixed. Basically you get past it by not attacking, just reflecting attacks.

If any part of open world was PvE, and I would be have to enter it to perform any PvE activities, I’d quit the game on the spot and so would many others.

You want PvP, you have 2 entire game modes for it.

So, I popped my Monkey King tonic when activating Omadds machine in Living Story 2 and… oh my gosh what the hell is this?

I wouldn’t consider it an investment.

An investment is a return in type, so my investment would be my game play hours vs the pleasure/entertainment received. Despite my somewhat snarky demeanour about the game, I feel that my several thousands of hours worth of time investment has been more than worth it.

As for how much money I have spent? I would estimate around £6-700. 2 accounts, lots of gemstore stuff, I think thats about right. Worth every penny.

Anyway, we already have child characters, at least according to HODIL?

One big issue with block = reveal… Guardian Aegis. They would be hugely OP here.

I just thought also… what kind of pact would allow a child Commander? Or let them near the battlefront at all?

I don’t have any level 80s which haven’t done VoD. I’ll see if I can re-play it with one of my 80s later today.

This is what people asked for, sadly. They said Victory or Death was so hard, so the deck mobs and Zhaitan were nerfed. They still complained that it had a party requirement so it was made soloable.

The mission, like so much in this game (remember pre-nerf Orr?), brought down to make it like the rainbow clouds easy mode of SAB.

As the saying goes – I’d rather fight for something I want and not get it, than fight for something I don’t want and get it.

1-3am Central US time is the best time. I got in a that time first time round on both accounts.

Since I was overzealously moderated for being off topic when most of my post was fairly ON topic… I got infracted when the troll did not!

I have been into WvW and the sepia tone does make AoE tells and capture zones hard to see.

I suggest you circle around, and try to attack him from behind. Or dive towards your opponent with the sun behind you. Either way, this is a L2Fly issue.

Ah well, one of the things that still keeps me in this game is helping others get through VoD. I have over 70 runthroughs as of this writing. One more thing to push me further from GW2.
