For we have held fast our ground and our loyalty to Tyria each and every day…
And it is time the Six show their blessings. Freedom for ALL doers of great and wondrous things!
Wow I kinda wish I thought to ask instead of just trashing the duplicates
Hi!
So, I got the new WvW T3 chest piece with the cool particle effect but my guildies and friends tell me that they sometimes don’t see the particle effect, even when I can see it on my screen.
It’s disheartening to have such a prestigious item and not really be able to fully show it off. :\
… so I don’t have to turn it on every time I change maps! :P
Awesome, thanks for clearing that up. A few questions though…
For one,
how many achievement points is it worth? kappa (but no… srsly)
For two, are there going to be incremental tiers for only getting to ruby or diamond as in S2 and S3 or is it Legendary or bust as in S1?
For three, (and this one’s more of a request) would you guys consider reusing this first year’s achievements for future years? It’d make achievement hunters that didn’t have the hours and hours to grind PvP like myself very happy to have another go at those missed points. It’d also be a bit easier on your vocabularies.
You can turn off “Allow Skill Retargetting” instead since that is the thing that causes it to move.
This still doesn’t revert most skills in my experience. With retargetting off and instant cast on, you can still move at least thief shortbow skills to where the hell ever until the arrow actually fires.
“Fast with range indicator” does the same job just fine.
That’s true but it’s slower.
It worked great before the big patch. Now if I want a skill at a specific spot, I’m forced to linger my cursor on it until it’s there. This is NOT a convenience. This is exactly the opposite of that.
If there are people who prefer the new instant ground targeting, can we please get an option for the old instant ground targeting?
The current plan is to rotate the borderlands maps each quarterly update. That said, now that we are actively polling the community, perhaps we can start exploring other options.
For instance, nothing is really stopping us from having a combination of ABL and DBL maps running simultaneously. 2 of one and 1 of the other. If we polled that, and players approved it, then there’d be no need for the rotation, and players on both sides of the issue could play on their preferred map. The downside of course, would be any perception of imbalance that may arise from one map being considered the stronger “Home” map, but we could always give the more defensible map to Red/Blue and leave the less defensible map to Green.
Why not 3 different maps? With or without color rotation for the maps themselves?
I understand that this would be an immense undertaking and would take a considerable amount of time. That said, I think it would be extremely cool to have one team of servers defending DBL, one defending ABL, and then a third theme for another borderland. An archipelago maybe? You guys could think of something.
Anyway, as a massive WvW fan, that’s where my vote would go.
Here to add my two cents.
Adding the rest of the emotes from GW1 that don’t work in GW2 would be so, so great for me. /roar is a personal fave and I’m upset all over again being reminded that it didn’t make it to GW2.
At one time I read a suggestion about unlocking emotes via achievements or the gem store and quite frankly, I’m all for it.
On a similar train of thought, there was a suggestion for different character stances for certain weapons that folks were willing to pay gems for. Again, all for it.
I also wanna acknowledge that, while seemingly logically simple, might take some time.
Hardly the “ultimate convenience,” then is it?
Ok, so does this also mean that after the first year the legendary pvp backpack is no longer available?
^?
The wording in that dev reply was particularly cryptic…
I had a similar experience, but I managed to get around it and finish the achievements.
The achievements don’t seem to be available on any characters first playthrough of an instance, regardless of whether another character on the account has played through. I did it the first time through on my guardian and just yesterday I went back through on my ranger doing achievements. The ornithologist’s note(s) didn’t appear, and Beigarth wasn’t there until I finished the instance and re-entered.
Any other HoT (and most LS2) story steps would allow a second character’s first playthrough to open achievements.
Anyway, hope this helps.
My team just lost after stomping the enemy lord in overtime. The enemy team had more score, but their lord died and my team still lost. Doesn’t make sense that this would be working as intended…
Race: Human
Sex: Male
Class: Guardian
Heavy Radiant Legs clip pretty obviously on the character’s right leg (left side when looking at them). Probably an issue with Sylvari+Norn males too. The clip shows up in the hero panel, in the world, and in the preview screen so here’s the chat code: [&C9YVAAA=].
I’m not able to get online atm so I’ll try to come back and post a screenshot. It’s been bugging me since I unlocked them last night.

Forgive me for the poorly worded topic.
I pay for 5mbps download Internet service (upload is either 768kb or 1mb, Idr), and since at least last night (the 3/18 patch), my login window is reading that GW2 is downloading 1MB / second. Not just spiking up to it momentarily, either; it’s a constant 1MB speed for the duration of the patch. I have several questions:
- Is this accurate?
- If so, how?
- Is this speed just for patches or am I getting that ingame too?
- Is anyone else noticing a similar change?
It might have to do with the -StreamingClient command, since I added that pretty much as soon as I learned about it.
Edit: I should mention that I’m used to seeing 550KB-600KB /sec for my patches, which is right on target for my Internet service.
Edit2: I should also mention that I considered (and hoped for) the possibility of my ISP upgrading my service, but http://www.speedtest.net/ shows me at exactly 5.0mbps, even immediately after closing the GW2 client showing 1MB/sec.

5,088 hours after starting my account, I got my first and only precursor drop to date, The Legend, from world rank 907. The other item inside was Malefacterym, the dagger that looks like it’s from the Realm of Torment.
Dear heavenly Dwayna — I neeeed that frog.
Having heard stories from my dad about chatting with Gaile Gray in Lion’s Arch 200+ years ago(GW1) and on several occasions, including the necromancer uprising, and hearing about her(your) talking frog… I know he would deeply appreciate this post from you.
Just to add on the first person camera on charr: it not only seems that the camera is above the head, but it seems it’s also not positioned on the eyes horizontally. This is not really the most helpful description, so I’ll say this: instead of the camera more positioned on the eyes in front, it’s more like it’s positioned on my backpiece instead.
The next, since it’s positioned this way, when I’ve equipped a longbow, I occasionally see the string of my bow popping up in front of my screen when running around, while that longbow is on my back.
I noticed what you’re describing, and from what I can tell, that position is based on your charr’s model when you’re just idly standing around, out of combat. Once charr draw their weapons, they’re hunched over and to the right, and that’s probably what’s causing your issue. I feel compelled to mention how ridiculous gameplay would be if first person camera was true to charr players’ eyes while running with weapons sheathed. (Boing! Boing! Boing!) :P
The effect bugs (like aegis are being addressed).
Aegis might be annoying but there are some effects that I think are really cool in first person. Don’t turn everything off, please. :\
The “Guild Defender” skin also seems to have lost its textures…
Ok maybe i am blind but one of my characters who did not have map completion is now stuck at 99%. When i checked (repeatedly) every area showed completed 100%
I just need a POI but i cant find it. A second characters instead coul get map completion easily (i just needed a couple POIs) related to LS. My remaining characters who all had 100% already are fine.
This is usually the Chantry of Secrets PoI that’s missing.
My system and my girlfriend’s system are experiencing the same thing, it seems most likely to happen when changing zones.
Well for one, skills 1-5 are always your weapon skills, skill 6 is always your heal, and skill 10 is always your elite. Not much left to customize in the way of ordering. :\
(…)No need to explain it to me, it’s simply not what you wrote. You may have meant to say that no doubt. If I would not know this game your sentence reads as if all 10 skills are determined by your weapon.
Hey I don’t mean it bad, it just popped out for me. I think it would have tied nicely into the fact that there are different races now as well, but again you wanted to keep it short.
Edit: Gah, botched the quoting.
Haha, no worries. Maybe if I’m lucky, I’ll get the opportunity to write a longer piece about GW. Good point about races, somehow I don’t think I even considered that. Possibly because I main a human. :P
Players can use 10 skills at a time, but those skills are determined by a player’s chosen weapon, and the order can be changed only for 3 of them.
Curious as to why you chose this when it is not only incomplete but as it stands simply false?
I guess for brevity, although I might have mentioned other things, for example a less humanoid race that runs on all fours, which is not seen often – for me definitely a first.
Most likely content did not matter as much for this purpose, I think it was well done otherwise – although you are repeating yourself a few times in terms of Anet having made an impact with the games.
Heh, my 2 cents
Well for one, skills 1-5 are always your weapon skills, skill 6 is always your heal, and skill 10 is always your elite. Not much left to customize in the way of ordering. :\
For two, yes, it needed to be a short essay as this was something of a brief exercise,
And for three, yeah, repeating myself in at least one sense or another is pretty standard practice for an English essay.
Heh, making it short was part of the exercise. I think maybe she knew it would be tough. I could’ve made each point in the body paragraph into its own paragraph, and I could’ve added a lot more differences, but I left things out to keep it simple and somewhat to-the-point. Thank you both for reading it.
For my English class this semester, I had to write a compare/contrast essay about 2 things that I “know a lot about.” … So I chose Guild Wars 1 & 2. My professor loved it, gave it 100%.
Here it is. Enjoy.

Thanks to modern technology, one of the most unique and successful industries is the video game industry. Developers with lucrative games often strive to create sequels to their games to continue to earn their living and to give players new content. One particularly noteworthy example is ArenaNet, developer of Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2. While not the most successful games on the market, each made a significant impact on the massively-multiplayer-online role-playing-game(MMORPG) genre, despite having very different gameplay.
In the original Guild Wars, players could unlock over 1,000 different skills, most of which having completely unique effects, costs, prerequisites, and strengths. Players could use any 8 skills they wanted, in any order they wanted, whether they made sense together or not. In Guild Wars 2, players’ skills are much less customizable. Players can use 10 skills at a time, but those skills are determined by a player’s chosen weapon, and the order can be changed only for 3 of them. The original Guild Wars, released in 2005, had very fixed paths that players could take. If a hill was too steep, or if a river blocked the path, players would simply stop moving. It made for very linear adventuring. However, Guild Wars 2’s release in 2012 saw a dramatic change to the original system. Players are able to climb mountains, jump over fences, even battle marine life underwater. While this was the norm for other MMORPGs for a long time, this freedom was a welcome adjustment. Each game’s reception was a triumph for ArenaNet. The original Guild Wars reviewers scored the game from in the high-80%s to high-90%s, some reviewers even awarding a perfect 100% score. It won several “Best Game” awards in several categories from various reputable video gaming websites and magazines. Guild Wars 2 met a similar welcome, receiving the same trend of ratings as its predecessor, and even winning a few “Game of the Year” awards.
ArenaNet has had dramatic impact on the MMORPG genre with Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2. Both received universal acclaim, while being fundamentally and mechanically very different games to play. The video game industry and MMORPGs in particular will continue to grow and change and ArenaNet will be there, making their mark.
I came to mention a checkbox for each of the “active” finishers in the cycle, but could we maybe even have a specific order of finishers? It’d be cool to see how many times your cycle starts over in WvW or PvP as sort of a way to track how many (stomped) kills you get as you get them, without having to open the hero panel every few minutes.
A guardian’s Valor XIII trait says it’ll give aegis to nearby allies whenever the guardian blocks. It works with the aegis boon, mace 3, and even shelter. But it doesn’t work with focus 5. Is this intended?
It started 2 days ago in AC path 3, at the ghost form part, opening the hero panel caused my client to hang and not recover. Every time.
Now, after making a new charr elementalist, the same exact thing is happening.
A vote between 2 or 3 maps before the start would be preferable. Most times I’m not doing anything in the 90-120sec before it starts anyway.
Great idea.
Just finished this wurm, similar issues. Got Wumicidal Maniac, but didn’t get to 3/3 for the heads, and didn’t get the golden wurm chest.
So sad
Are these no longer accessible or has anyone gotten any of these skins in one of the new PvP reward tracks?
Sorry to return so soon, but this is probably related.
I did TA up this afternoon ~5hrs before reset, and then again just now(after reset).
This time, I didn’t get any boss chests, nor the 40 token path chest at the end.
It did count for daily dungeon and progressed the new-monthly dungeon acheive though.
Just chiming in that I too have experienced this, straight to 4/5 today. No AP awarded for those 4 either.
I logged on after afk’ing during the patch to find that 4 of my dailies are marked as complete and I hadn’t played since before the reset+patch.
I normally wouldn’t mind I guess except I didn’t get any AP from them either.
I’m so confused. O.o
REJOICE! Our time is OURS once more! Praise be to the Six!
REJOICE! Go forth and enjoy thine moots and parties! This is a night to remember!
To those in favor, let us REJOICE! Dwayna hath had her mercy on us; her battered and beaten, tired and taxed. For we have held fast our ground and our loyalty to Tyria each and every day… And it is time the Six show their blessings. Freedom for ALL doers of great and wondrous things! … and of those not-so-wondrous, menial things. Let us not forget those who have fallen in vain… RIP Ewon.
To those worried or disappointed: The monthly cap will take a significant amount of time to cap; and in the future could be worth more points than before. Please, have an open mind. Give it a chance.
I’m at #16, and my daily AP is just over 9k. I have heard that Venge has never missed a daily ever, but I’ve only missed a handful, so he would be closer but I doubt he’d be up to 10k yet.
REJOICE!
I was coming to necro this thread myself to say THANK YOU ANET! You’ve made my life so much easier. I can skip the boring/time consuming dailies with no regret and every daily I’ve missed due to bugs or glitches or simply running out of time can now be made up. Thank you!!! I’m so excited to just enjoy this game and hunt other achievements alongside my friends, guildies, and other fellow players. You’ve done wonders for my interest in this game and I’ll be buying more gems tomorrow to show my appreciation, and a commander tag to lead my server to victory. Thank you thank you thank you!!
REJOICE!
Alright serious question:
Will PvP armor skins be unlocked in the same manner for the wardrobe? I.e, the cultural armor sets?
I saved 120k glory to wait for just this reason, and I’ve asked repteatedly to no avail; but if I buy a couple t3 sets with glory and half the normal amount of gold, will they count toward the fashion achievements when the wardrobe goes live?
The mystic forge changes are a work in progress. What I will promise is that when it is done you will like it much better than you do now.
The number of rares and exotics I’ve chucked into the forge (for science!) is absolutely staggering. I would like to take a moment and share with all of you what I’ve learned about the forge: you put 4 items in and get 1 item back.
That is all.
Wow, the number is in fact staggering.
It ought to be, that kid has more legendaries than any one human (or charr or asura or sylvari or norn) should.
You probably already saw that too though.
kitten you Zel. <3
So, here’s a question (purely for discussion):
If you had to choose one, would you prefer RANKED Solo Arena, or UNRANKED Team Arena? I’d imagine unranked team arena would still allow you to queue up by yourself or with 1-4 friends much like the rated version does now.
Thoughts?
I do the PvP team arena win dailies every single day. So if the unranked team arena still rewarded credit for those dailies, I would prefer the unranked team arena.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/Fashion-achieves-with-glory/first#post3731967
If we buy cultural armor with glory+gold now, will it ever eventually count for the fashion achieves?
If I can use glory to cover half the gold price and don’t simply becuase no one knows any better I’m gonna be a little kittened.
I’m in the opposite boat, I really like my PvE look, but I can’t use ascended skins or legendary weapons in PvP yet. So I use a completely different look to match the completely different playstyle.
No answers from anyone in three days, I assume no one knows, lol.
Has anyone else made the gamble and bought PvP cultural armor?
If we’re going to (eventually) be able to use our gear cross-game regardless of current game mode, will the PvP cultural armor (eventually) count towards the fashion achieves? I’ve heard yes and no on the subject and I would love some clarification.
That is correct, Hellmasker.1649.
So what about glory itself? Is that gonna disappear or are we just going to have no way to spend it?
And if so, should we wait? Or buy stuff now?
And what should we get?
:(
So the glory boosters are just vanishing? No compensation at all for ~200 boosters?
Obviously, you don’t get it. Half of us have repeatedly said “Just do away with the leaderboard, we don’t care. It’s not about that.”
I miss you guys <3
aww, my thread was archived
I miss you too sir. It was bittersweet to meet and pass you in AP. I hope someday you can return.
I thought this wasn’t about leader boards??? You are acknowledging that the leader board means something to you with that statement. It was “bittersweet” passing that person on the leader board. But I thought it wasn’t about the leader board?
Lol where did I say anything about leaderboards in my response to Ewon?
If you don’t care about the leader board why was it “bittersweet” when you passed him?
How are you still grasping at these straws? How are you not getting it?
I wanted to catch up to him but not because he quit. I would ask what else I have to sing to you but I’ve been singing everything all along and you STILL aren’t catching on.
