Have you ever considered of having event mobs not drop loot and instead bump up the rewards and after an event succeed or fail give them players a chest depending on participation and increase the threshold for what is consider participation. So in Queensdale we will give 1-6ss and a chest for loot (1 piece of loot) but instead with no possibility of getting a level 80 exotic or rare. But a level 50+ zone will give money (20s)+ a chest (with 1 to 2 pieces of loot) with a small possibility of loot exotic or rare or ascended. And a level 80 event might give 32s + 1 chest with 1T6 mat and 1-4 pieces of loot.
This will remove the incentive for intentionally failing events.

From the very beginning Events had very meh rewards. Anet says they want no farming, but without farming, gold is basically impossible to get. I have played since launch and had about 40g total a few weeks ago, before cof1 nerf I did it for a few days and got another 40g, I doubled months of work in a few days. Anet either needs to KILL ALL FARMING, or buff up normal drops and rewards. I think 1-6s is a fair number for every event in a 1-15 zone and each zone would go up a little each time, lvl 80 zones events should give 32s. There would finally be a reason to do events in zones other than just to get the Exp to get a alt to 80.

Event Coin rewards should go something as follows: 1s for a lvl 1 and lvl 2 event, all events past that could use a simple scale: level of event/2.5=Silver reward.
So a lvl 15 event would give 6s, a lvl 45 would give 18s, and a lvl 80 event would give 32s. I don’t think it going to break the game econ, a simple fix to make sure it cant be zerged in high lvl zones is slap DR on it, HOWEVER, Leave the minimum reward of any event 1/3 of its max, so assuming I stay in a huge zerg and I hit DR when I do a lvl 80 event I would get 10s 66c. Still good money but not nearly as good as 32s. and have the DR reset when the daily does.
DR should be in blocks though, so if I hit DR in the level 71-80 range of events if I do a level 60 event DR would be gone. So there would be 8 blocks 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, etc all the way till 71-80.

Also on a side note Veterans should get the old Champ loot update, for those of you who forget what that was, all champs dropped one piece of loot without fail(except event champs) I think all Vets should drop at least one piece of loot. Whether that be armor or a weapon, mats, or w/e. but only non-event vets.

I think these two changed would really have people going out and doing events and exploring to find Vets to kill. And of course this is a mere suggestion so these numbers could be tweaked a bit. Perhaps 32s is too high? Have DR start after 10 events at a given block level?

40s is way too high for reward it will cause things to inflate too fast. They are some players that will always farm that is unavoidable, but it will give incentive to those that enjoy DE to do more DE. Giving 40s will lead to players chaining events and that is not what should be happening. The goal of my system is to make it rewarding enough for people to do but not high enough to cause a huge spike.

Your plan will certain will certainly increase the rate too fast and devalue goal because now your 40g you have is going to be worth less far less than before in short time.

See my edit about DR for rewards, 10s 66c would be hard to break the econ even with event farming, plus 32s and 10s 66c respectively would be level 80 events only.

They got several more Dragons to go, 1 each year is what i would guess, gives them long term goals to keep the game alive for years to come. Not to mention all the zones on the map they ca still open, for example CD, plus Cantha to Elona, and all the extra zones there. Anet has lots of stuff up their sleeves.

Shouts and guardian F1,2,3 do not interrupt any other skills. however other weapon skills do interrupt the Spin as do Consecration skills, I’m not not about anything else since I don’t use signets, or summon weapons.

I doubt we will ever see any changes.
Speaking of changes that likely wont happen this whole Champion Loot and Dungeon Change likely wont ever happen for MONTHS. Even if they push someting out, Anet will mess something up, and people will still find a way to abuse the hell out of Something and farm gold just like we all do in COF P1. And this thought makes me sad, Anet Should be better than this, but they say things months go by and they release something sub-par.

Living World is cool and all, but they need to gut it, and add Good Perma content, not Good Temp content like they been doing. I know they are adding some perma mini-games in….Who cares, they are mini games, I want real content. Better Dungeons ( like they said they were gonna do ) MORE Dungeons, Not Fractals, not everyone like fractals. Now if Fractals gave rewards like dungeons do now, then maybe more people would do them.

Ok I think I got off topic. But ya, Anet wont ever makes the changes they said they would. And I’d Love for a Anet Dev to tell me I am wrong, then Ill giggle inside as months go by and Nothing happens.

[BUG] Clone Appearance

I know this has been brought up before as it was mentioned in the bug thread. However this bug is more prominent now that torch+PU has been buffed:

Clones do not appear with off-hand weapon.

The reason this is more prominent with torch is that the torch is off-hand and it glows. It becomes rather simple to find the real mesmer in the clone mix, as you can see in this pic:

That is a small problem, but be aware the torch glow is only for you. I don’t know if you have done the jumping puzzle in LA where there is a Large Dark room, but if anyone else near you has fire( Torch, Flame sword, Halloween back) it doesn’t produce any Light/Glow for you, only themselves. So even if in WvW, or PvP you use a torch, odds are in the heat of combat most players will not be able to tell that 1/4 of the mesmers they see has a torch and the other 3/4 dont.

Unless this is changed by one of the 3 graphic settings I don’t have on max, this statement should be true.

I am not much of a PvP fan, but I tried it out a little after launch abd it was fairly fun, I haven’t played since. But I decided to give it a try again, which was a mistake.

GW2 PvP is broken. 1 simple reason match making is broken to no end. I just did 10+ games where my team was always lower than rank 10, and the enemy team were all 25+. Now I know Rank doesn’t mean skill but it does mean more time in PvP played and usually even bad players will pick up some skill by then. I don’t feel match making works at all. my teams had literally NO chance, it took the 2+ people minimum to kill anyone. And I finally see why people are kittening about on the forums about necros. Not every necro is good, but when you get matched up vs one who knows how to fear well I would be feared until dead. I couldn’t do a kitten thing. But this isn’t about necros, they needed their buff. But ranking teams of player who have almost no time played in PvP vs teams where the players have been playing a ton is no fair to the lower ranked people. It is going to turn would be PvPers away

I doubt I will ever step in PvP again. And I wonder why I hate PvP in games, poor match making makes thing so annoying for a new PvPer, it is very disheartening

  • How can each level be different without messing up Flow. Easy (see a pattern here?), Nobody likes to do the exact same thing 100 times over and over again. So I suggest each level the bosses change a bit. Perhaps instead of doing a massive AoE ground stomp on Level 1, On level 2 it might be a Big AoE poison cloud or Fire explosion, or a combo of those things.
  • Levels would stop at 5. With so many Paths, 5 Levels is more than enough. I don’t want groups to be too hard to find and having levels in the 60s like fractals would make groups too hard to find. 7 Paths x 5 levels = 35 total paths ranging in difficulty, any more is too much.
  • How can we give players an item they want after completing a Level? Once again it is Easy, If each path took 1.5 hours that is 10.5 hours total, I think a little reward is in Order. These items can vary depending on when UW is made Live. Perhaps these can be ascended items, or maybe just exotics, 5 black lions keys? Who knows but a Big Reward should be given. And even if each run was “Speed Cleared” each path taking an hour, that’s still 7 hours to get 1 big reward, Hard to abuse that, but perhaps I am wrong
  • How can the Armor be so hard to obtain and still worth getting? Ill give you one guess to the word that belongs here ____, If UW goes Live when Ascended items are more common than now, then the gear might all be Ascended. If Ascended items are still not fully added, then this might be a good place to add the new slots in, Boots and Gloves costing 1000 to be Ascended or just 500 for Exotic?

How to fit UW in the current Lore? Amazingly in fact!

  • The Human Gods have been Silent for some time now, and the world may be a bit safer with Zhaitan gone now, However 4 other Elder Dragons are still out there. The Pact seeks the help of the Gods and sets players on a Hunt to find them. Priory Scholars unearthed a Location (This can be in a few places, Orr where Grenth Event takes place, The ruins of the Temple of Ages) that once was used as an access point to the realm of the Dead. This Access point will lead to the “Hub” I talked about before, this provides a place to form groups up so 10 people wont be as hard to find. This “Hub” is where Priory Scholars will preform the Grand Ritual in order to send to players to the Underworld. To preform this Rite the scholars need Gold to pay for the Materials that must be gathered from all over the world (This is basically like the 1000g it took in GW1 to enter the UW, But this time the cost should be 2g, or some other number, paid to an NPC) So players set forth on an adventure to find Grenth within his own domain to see if the Gods are still with us. But his 7 Reapers do not take to kindly to Uninvited guests, the players must fight there way through the 7 paths that each of the Reapers hold as their section of the Underworld in order to convince the reapers passage to Grenths Quarters. What will the players find? A Dead God in a Dead Domain, or the God of Death in all his Glory? Who knows unless you venture worth and See for yourself.
  • The Whole dungeon is one Giant Story Mode Dungeon, with each Path building on what players learned in the previous, perhaps the first Level must be completed in order path 1 then 2 then 3 etc. And once Level 2 has been reached players are free to do any path in any order they want and once all 7 are done, level 3 opens up.
  • The multiple Levels can also be explain Lore Wise, Once you reach Grenth himself or where ever the Reapers lead you to once you Finish all 7 Paths. The players are not deemed worthy by Grenth and are sent back to the Start, but this time he has new challenges in store for the players (The rise in difficulty of each Level)

I Put a good amount of thought into this Post, I would love to hear what the Guild Wars 2 community thinks of my ideas. Remember to be nice, I don’t mind flames about my ideas sucking, I am not a Professional game Developer (Even though I wouldn’t mind being one). But I do ask for constructive criticism, tell me why the specific idea isn’t so great and how it might be better. These are rough ideas for UW nothing is set in stone, who knows Anet may never add in UW, or they might be polishing it up as we speak =D

Hello Everyone,

First off I don’t post all that often. I am not an English Major, so please forgive any spelling mistakes or bad grammar.

Anyways I wanted to make a post/request for the Underworld to come back to GW2, It was by far my favorite thing to do in GW1 along with FoW. I was never the best at either, I picked easy jobs, MoP in Fow or 100b. Chamber Sin in UW when it could still be soloed, or SS in the Vale team. But I had loads of fun doing them.

I want to explain:
1: Why adding UW back would be good
2: What I’d like to see with UW in GW2
3: How it could be done without upsetting the apple cart
4: And how to fit it in the current lore.

Why adding in UW would be good

  • Most players love New things, new armor new mobs new bosses, new places, anything new.
  • It will provide massive re-playability (see next section about why)
  • It can add interesting Lore into GW2 about the human Gods and where they went perhaps
  • Will likely be part of a big content update, Can be used to sell more copies of GW2. Big Updates from a Free game is a great selling point showing how much better Anet is, and how ahead of the curve they truly are.

What I’d like to see with UW in GW2

  • UW should be a 10 man Dungeon, to reflect the difficultly and scale of what the players are doing (Venturing into the Underworld) However a 5 man would work well too.
  • Want to see a combo of Fractal and normal Dungeon concepts mixed into one dungeon. Will have Many paths, 7 for example, Each one involving one of the 7 Reapers. Once a player clears all 7 paths (different entry required for each path) A level 2 opens up, like fractals the dungeon gets a little bit harder with each level. This provides a perfect place and reason to add more Ascended gear into the game, as bosses would likely use Agony in UW
  • Each path should be Hard, silvered Mobs minimum. However time should be 1-2 hours per path depending on groups, how good they can work together etc.
  • With so many Paths and levels there will always be something new and challenging, Perhaps bosses can use different abilities depending on level. Keeping things Extra New.
  • Once a level is completed (all 7 paths) a Big reward should be granted, whether this be gear or tokens or what I don’t know, but it shouldn’t be RNG. If it be gear, then gear you can use, light, medium or heavy depending on Profession. This doesn’t mean you’ll get the stats you want, but it’s at least your armor type. And if tokens then perhaps enough for 1 piece of Armor
  • Speaking of Armor. The sets here should be just as hard to obtain as they were in GW1….Or perhaps a bit easier :p If they are token based and each path gives 20, and 40 for daily, then the “base” armor pieces should cost 500. Why? Because once again this place is meant to be Hard and take a while to get rewarded, but rewarded you will be.

How it could be done without upsetting the apple cart?
Ill go over what I want to happen and explain HOW those things can happen without messing everything up.

  • How can we combo Fractal and normal Dungeons without making the dungeon “flow” badly, Easy. The Many Paths are meant to keep UW new feeling, with 7 Paths every time you run it in “order” (Path 1, then Path 2, then 3 etc) it will be so different than you remember it will be fun and exciting all over again. UW is meant to be Hard (Like I keep saying) and it shouldn’t be able to be fully cleared quickly like in GW1. With 7 Paths you feel like you’re making progress to something great, the loot at the end of the 7 paths, and finishing the Story (See Lore in next section) But once you Finish all 7 Paths there needs to be more to such a Big and Amazing place, that’s why the many levels fits well.
  • How can this be a 5-10 man without making groups hard to find? Easy, very similar to GW1 Temple of Ages. There will be a Hub, like the Lab for Fractals, however it is public, not a party instance. This “Hub” can be explained Lore wise in the Next Section.
  • How can each path be hard with silvered mobs and take so long? Easy, because once again this is the Underworld, it should not be too easy. It also shouldn’t be too hard either of course. We don’t want 5 hour long raids beating our faces against a wall for one Path, If I wanted to do that I’d go back to WoW (only reference to WoW I swear)

Yes please, this sounds awesome. But we would be to be careful, because they did something like this with Karka Queen in terms of players needing to capture bases in a PvE environment, and we all know how often that happens. So there would need to be protections against low pop servers not doing the events. Easiest is to lower amount of enemies holding forts and attacking forts on lower pop servers. Or a better idea is base the number of mobs attacking on players doing the event, you know the whole event scaling system that is barely noticeable because it kinda sucks.

I would be fine with templates, even if you have to pay to switch (same cost as to respec normally).
I would be ok with Buying template ‘Slots’ with gold, say 1-5g a slot.
I would be ok to buy the ‘slot’ and pay to respec each time.
I would be ok with buying a ‘slot’ with gems.
I would be ok with buying a ‘slot’ with gems and gold, and paying each time to respec.

Point is, this feature should have been in day one. And I was very surprised it wasn’t. We know the engine has the ability to do this already, as sPvP has different traits than PvE and WvW.

Devs if you read this post. Listen to me seriously, I would pay in game money and time and real life money to get this into the game. Even 1600gems per slot, I would still buy 1-2 slots.

The posts above are correct, the entire group of chanters is respawning after a wipe at any point. I’m going to change it so that only the 2 initial chanters will respawn on a wipe, and the larger group will spawn once the first 2 are killed. (As it used to work, except that the 2 chanters will reset after a wipe.)

Well I really like the idea of spear throwing, as the Guardian is basically the Paragon of GW2.

However, I have 2 thoughts.

1. The 2nd skill needs some work. It is fine as long as it also does Damage. Animation should be the Spear Slamming Straight into the ground at the target area. All symbols are Light fields, I don’t see ANet making one water.

2. 3rd skill, Should Cripple the Enemy and have you and nearby allies gain swiftness for 3 seconds.

Bumping. I still stand by what I said in the post, however after rereading it, I think tiered levels isn’t such a good idea, Maybe just 2 tiers. 1st level is how I said before path 1, then 2 then 3 etc.. And after that, it unlocks the Exp Mode, where you can do any path in any order you want.

I only did DoA a handful of times. Didn’t have a ton of fun, but that was mainly because I didn’t know what I was doing as much as I did in UW or FoW. I can remember my first 55/SS run in UW I hated it, then the better I got at SS the more I loved it, until they killed it, then I did 600/Smite FoW ( EASY MODE ) until they nerfed that. Continue down the years until now where I just solo smite run on my Derv and do VoS for FoW.

Tell that to the graveling mounds in the Lover’s Crypt.

That is a savagely over-built DPS check for on-level characters. Comicly, hilariously over done.

Get some Eles with Ice Bow and Laugh at how fast the mounds die.

Learn where and when the spawn, they are on a set path with some mounds always having a breeder spawn, this can help a ton.

If it’s going to be big, hard and long. it better have really good rewards. I would appreciate dungeons that would drop more lodestones so that I can earn enough of them for a legendary weapon, without completely relying on the Black Lion Trading Post.

I think that there need to be places that would drop items otherwise unobtainable – such as lodestones. Current drop rates are a joke.

I would not mind if such place would actually require a skilled team, but at least make them drop. I have run dungeons a lot (and I mean a lot) and had only 3 lodestones (of 3 different kinds) drop. I wish I could start saving up some mats for the future legendary weapons, but the higher level items are just pretty much unobtainable for a person who doesn’t have the time to grind dungeons or mobs mindlessly, but possess the skill to get through some pretty hard stuff.

Just saying that for Anet to consider.

I kinda figured UW would drop Ecto and Random Lodestones. But not so often where it becomes an “easy” source for either. Just enough to make them a little less rare while still being difficult to obtain

It’s not really impossible though. I’ve played for 992 hours, and I would play more if I didn’t have to juggle a job and another MMO.

Of its not impossible, but the amount he claims to have played isn’t possible unless he is out of school and unemployed or works very short part time shifts. No full time working person could have 13 hours a day to play a game. Figure 8 hours work ( not counting drive time and lunches ) + 7 hours sleep + 13 hours played = 28 hours, not that many hours in a day.

If we use my schedule. I can play from 4:30pm-10pm assuming I have Nothing else to do in a day once I get home from work. that is 5.5 hours, and lets also assume I play from when I wake up to when I go to sleep on a weekend, that gives me 16 hours each day, so 5.5 × 5 + 16 +16 = 59.5 Max hours total for a week for myself. That number is very short of the 91 ( 7×13 ) that is required a week to get his claimed play time.

Now some people work part time, lets assume 4 hour work day, I know not all shifts are spread like this, but for numbers sake that’s how I am doing it. So 4 hours work + 13 hours gaming + 7 hours sleep = 24 hours. This is slightly more possible, but not realistic as there is travel time, eating bathroom, showers ( I hope ). However he said “minimum” 250 each, so some may be more.

Once again, I am not attacking them in any way, I just find the numbers to be very odd and likely incorrect. Plus this gave me an excuse to type a ton while at work and look busy, HAHA.

For my part i have an lvl 80 : thief, warrior, guardian, necro, mesmer and engi with minimum 250 hours of play on each of them at lvl 80.

I’m not attacking you, however, I feel like you are mistaken about your hours played.

6 toons x 250hours = Minimum of 1500 hours = 62.5 days.

GW2 came out 115 days ago from this post ( 12-21-12 ) that means everyday you play 54.3% of the day away, or 13 hours a day Since the game came out.

I find this highly unlikely.

I really like this idea.

It would also be cool if they offered something like FoW also and give us Obsidian armor again XD (we already have obby shards and ectos in the game as it is) and make the skins for it class based and not light/med/heavy, like say take the old models for warrior,ele,mes,ranger ect. (the classics) and use the same models for GW2 and make some new ones for the new classes of course. It would definitely bring in a crowd either it be for prestige or cash or just a fun challenge.

Indeed, UW, FoW both are very fun, and my ideas would work well with FoW too, but the Lore would need to be re-worked

as a Bleed necro myself I feel the bleed cap could be raised, or instead of 25max stacks per mob, there is a 25 stack limit per character. So in theory many people could be keeping their own 25 stacks up.

But otherwise I feel the conditions are fine in PvE

If they’re going to implement new harder dungeon content, I’d like it to be less linear (i.e. let us choose which bosses to kill, and give us a lockout so we don’t have to do it all in one sitting). Also I would like to see more bosses like Giganticus Lupicus, because complicated multi-phase fights are interesting, rather than the boring high-hp bosses that make you want to afk during the encounter…

Also I don’t think 25man content would work well. You can already see the difficulty in balancing big meta dynamic events, and how they always turn into a massive zerg. Without the trinity I don’t think big groups work well. Guild wars 2 content is much better suited to 5man groups (in my opinion!).

I agree with that 25 mans would be hard to scale well in a dungeon, I feel like 10 man could be done easily without needing the “trinity” back

2v2, 3v3 and 5v5 arenas

Just as the title says, I would like to see 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5 arenas in this game. It would be interesting to play them, and allow people to enter them without any paid tournament tickets and just give us ranks depending on our performance (like in League of legends or Starcraft 2), remove repairs from them and maybe just add in titles for each achieved rank in the arena.
As for the game mode, a simple ‘’kill the enemy team before they kill you’’ would be fair enough. Also it would be nice if (unlike current spvp) these arenas had smaller terrain to move across, so that the combat within them is forced and cannot be avoided so easily.

Play WoW if you want this. As much as I think it would be cool, I dont feel Arenas belong in GW2

yes yes yes yes yes! 10 man dungeons that are NON raid. Anet has an ace in the pocket for group composition in this game and thats the fact that your 10 man group doesn’t need to be 2 tanks, 2 healers and 6 dps. Groups would be no more challenging to find than a regular 5 man. 10 man dungeons should be made to create a more epic and challenging experience for high end players without delving into the raid world. If they could create a few 10 man dungeons a long with some sort of good grouping tool I would personally enjoy PvE a lot more right now.

The 5 man dungeons are fine and dandy but I have two completely geared out characters from dungeon exotics now and im tired of running the same 5 man content. As someone who loves PvE in MMO’s there just isnt enough high end content aside from dungeons. Those of you that played WoW will understand this next part. Imagine if the highest PvE content you could run was Heroic Dungeons. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWN. Raids made that game for PvE players. I definitely support Anet’s decision to omit raids but they need to put something exciting in their place. 10 man dungeons are the solution!

I think it would be more interesting if depending on how you completed the paths, you would get a different boss on the last one. Just to keep you on your toes.

it would be awesome if Shiro or The lich was a boss in this dungeon, and if none of the bosses has defiant. But instead they would have healing skills, stun breakers, condition removal, and could dodge aoes. GW1 mob AI was good, and a pain to deal with in hm, lets have that again.

That would be interesting, making it feel like fighting a real person.

I think the party cap should be more like 25, however, it should scale difficulty based on how many are in your party so you don’t need 25 people but, you can have up to 25. Could be a neat experience to go do some high-end content with 25 people.

I doubt a 25 man dungeon would ever make it in GW2. Too WoW like.
Though I think the scaling sounds cool!

I would love for Anet to put UW in GW2, I remember my first beta weekend, when I came across the remains of ToA in the swamp and saw a portal to Underworld, I was so disappointed when I realised you couldn’t actually go through it lol

I think going back to the 8man groups would be fine for something of this large a scale… but I think if you add more players being able to scale the damage of mobs and their HP might be a pain.

That’s why thy mobs would be silvered, Silver is above a Veteran but below a Champion.
I figured the mobs would scale better as Silvered mobs with 10 people. But if the groups are 5 man then I think the mobs should be Vets like in fractals

I did quite a few hundred runs of UW in gw1 so definitely a fan, but I disagree with making it for 10 people… It’s hard enough right now to get 5 guildies interested in doing a dungeon together because of conflicting DR schedules and other crap

Well having 10 people isn’t needed, just what I think would be fun : )

Dungeon boss Dhuum 2013.

I don’t necessarily agree with all that you suggested and am sure that ANet has their own ideas cooked for this if they go down this route, but I definitely support a dungeon boss on the order of difficulty of (Giganticus Lupicus x 10) for Dhuum.

I totally want a Bada** Boss in here as well, just not Dhuum
I kinda feel like it should be about the Current Gods. Bringing Dhuum back would feel too much like UW from GW1 and I want this to be a different story, rather than a repeat of what we already did in GW1.
