For some reason I always get the popup “Fire Aura” but never the boons I’m supposed to get with it from my traits. I also never see the Fire Shield icon appear where my boons are (although that does appear when I get Fire Shield from Signets through traits). All I get from this combo is a useless popup and sometimes a nice Fire Shield animation without it having any effect… Can’t imagine this is intended because it does say you should have a Fire Aura when using MG, still I couldn’t find a Anet response to this “bug” so far.

Are you just rolling through necroing all these 20ish day old threads?

Churning earth most likely. AOE ability with a 3 1/4 s. cast time, large area of effect, applies bleed stacks as well as direct damage and is typically initiated outside of combat and then the ele uses lightening flash to teleport in to the target area.

If he hit you that hard, one or both of you must be glass.

The game already shows you what attunement you are in on the GUI. It also shows what attunement your opponent is in on the GUI, if they happen to be an ele. The visual effects are purely aesthetic.

I think the rewards based on population in an area (size of fight) are good for towers/keeps/objectives but I’d like to just add that I really don’t like the idea of that being the rule of loot for player looting (killing another player and looting the bag they drop) with my reasoning being it encourages zerging. I would like to see some method of encouraging utilizing the entire map with smaller roaming parties and soloers and not just zerg here, zerg there.

That being said, I have no problem making money in w3 or at the very worst, breaking even.

Whenever I enter the WvWvW is the same. I play in some low population server and for that we are always losing. And why to get in WvWvW just to get killed and pay a lot of silver after you get ganked?
Seriously… PvP should never damage your gear.

Getting tired of the QQ on this forum about every possible subject imaginable.

This. No kitten. One of the whiniest communities ever. Things aren’t perfect and we can always improve but every issue brought up is like it is some huge major oversight that is going to kill the game and possibly some kittens. Take a xanex people.

Holy kitten. Yes, get a mouse and save yourself a nightmare if you ever plan on pvp or even higher level pve. This is a very mobile game and you should never be keyboard turning. I can’t imagine how difficult it is to circle strafe or camera turn with a touchpad.

no I just bring up Blackgate coz they totally H8 SBI. to the point I would think they would jump at the chance of a 2v1 against them.
JQ is the weak link in T1, atm

Likewise, if SBI sees JQ and fighting anyone else, we kill JQ first.

While respect has grown between the two servers, there is definitely strong hate present.

Jade Quarry here. I can verify this. Zergy Stormbutts always die first if there is a choice. But honestly, it’s because SBI fellas seem to love to taunt more so (or it seems) than other servers I’ve played against. More power to them, but don’t expect to not be have some hate for the SBI server when opposing players see that.

You have the set on by default in the Mists (sPvP zone). It shows as blue because of this but those you are not affected by those runes unless in the mist. It’s just a display/UI bug on the paper doll.

Would be nice, but it’ll never happen. If it’s red, it’s dead. Especially fighting stormbutts. They don’t move with less than 20 players.

Are you kidding me? Those guys see shadow refuge go down and not a single one of them drops any aoe on it. All those guys were lowbies who looked pretty clueless. Terrible, low level players lose to good, max level players is all I see there.

I have noticed this as well. It seems the revealed debuff lasts slightly longer. Hard to confirm though since it cannot be tested but it does feel that way in my rotations.

US guild considering transfer. I’m curious as to number of players during US peak time. Basically, will we have anyone to fight or will it be a lot of roaming and taking undefended objectives?

The server and community sounds interesting and like it would be a good fit, but we are concerned about numbers and whether we will have any actual player competition since our play time is typically GMT 17:00 – 02:00.

Yes, I’d like to report a bug. It appears that anyone who is killed by a thief within the game is being forced to start a new post whining about thieves and how they obviously are doing nothing wrong with the way they have set up their build or handled the engagement, it’s just that thieves are so overpowered.

These forums are just unreadable anymore.

Yes, you can with multiple blast finishers unless something has changed recently in regards to area stealth effects. You cannot do it alone but you can with multiple people. It is not practical, but possible.

Dear god. This board is worse than the Witch Elf board in Warhammer.

If you are going to let a thief or any player stand inside a small circle with a big house above it for the full duration to stack stealth to 10s and than complain about it, you honestly should go back to the drawing board on your play style.

Shadow Refuge, especially in W3 is a giant “HEY! I’M RIGHT HERE. AOE THE kitten OUT OF ME” built in icon. See a house go up? AOE it. They are either forced out, which by the way breaks stealth immediately, or they stay in and are stealthed and dead.

It is a useful ability but not at all for gaining stealth. If you wanted to stack stealth, just blast finisher a smoke field. You can get minutes worth from that.

Most of the thieves go out and burn down opponents at 45-60% health with HS spamming. This is not skill.

Sure it can be countered, but 8/10 even a new player will down an opponent with that tactic at that amount of health. And HS is not the most effective skill we have, but noobs who chain spam it give thieves a bad name.

Noobs who chain spam it are better than the people they kill with it. If a player can’t counter someone when they know exactly without a doubt what the opponent is going to do than they deserved to lose the fight. They should look at their build and the way they played the engagement and learn from it.

The only similarity I see to GW2 and WAR is that amount of whining spewing from players. Seriously, you people are never happy and nothing is ever good enough.

There are some problems right now, but they for the most part, have been acknowledged and fixes are in the works or have already been implemented. After one month, attempting to draw similarities to the train wreck that was WAR and GW2 is a bit drastic.

Also, anyone calling combat in WAR “WvW” did not play WAR which makes it very hard to take any point put forth after said statement seriously.

I assume you were referencing signet of agility, in which case, that is false. It removes based on amount of allies around the player. True, it could cure all conditions if the player is surrounded by allies, but in that case you’re either in a large group fight or already dead because you were ran over by a zerg (w3). The signet will not cure all conditions in a situation like a 1v1 that I assume the OP was referencing. That being said, the thief does have numerous other ways to remove conditions.

Also, one other point I’d like to add but the forum code will not allow me to edit my post for some reason. The other main benefit of basilisk venom is that it is a complete shutdown of the opponent. It cannot be broken. Nearly all sPvP opponents worth their salt will have a stun break in their utilities or abilities (breaking devourer). Basilisk completely disables your opponent, which is why the duration is shorter on it than the immobilize on devourer venom. Basically, this allows you, in most situations to guarantee a backstab for increased damage. This allows greater versatility when attacking a target in terms of angles you can take since you know you can get their back while they are petrified.

This is in addition to how it works in the build posted.

Anyways, it is completely up to you on which abilities to take. If you don’t fancy basilisk or it doesn’t work in your build then don’t take it. This was just to illustrate that the elite is not useless and can be very powerful when used correctly in regards to build synergy though it is not as versatile of an ability that can be worked into nearly any build like thieves guild.

If your worried about positioning why not just use Devourer Venom?

You get more hits off with it, its a even shorter CD, can get it way sooner, lasts longer.

The only rationale I can see for a interest in Basilisk Venom is because you’ve already used up all your utility slots for your build, but I am curious why not devourer venom?

Did you check the build? It’s for the increased percentage on burst+might+vulnerability(stacking with cloak and dagger). The reason using basilisk over devourer is because the other 2 utility abilities are needed. This way, you get 2 venoms giving might+signet(150%dmg) giving might on backstab which comes out to 10 stacks of might. + vulnerability + 150% dmg. On most targets, if you land the C&D/Mug + backstab + heartseeker, they are hard pressed to recover from it or dead mainly based on crits. All of these abilities are on the same cooldown as well, so your burst is up every 45s to more or less 1 shot a target. If you are focused, you can switch to shortbow spam on the outskirts until a target is called, spike them and get out before focus. The build is not meant to be a thief standing in the fray as you are not durable enough in really any spec to play the class that way. Targets need to be chosen, clean kill and either stealth stomp or get out and shortbow/dancing dagger spam any opposition trying for the rez and depend on a haste ranger or stability bunker/mist form ele for the stomp

Also, the cooldown on all venoms are the same, 45s, untraited.

This build is a sPvP burst backstab build. It really doesn’t apply outside sPvP.

It is also very useful in S/P builds for pistolwhip. It opens up your utility slots for more useful abilities or you could also bring along devourer venom for 2 immobilizes, making your pistolwhip much more likely to land the full duration even without haste.

Yes. It has the shortest elite cd in the game by far and can be reduced even farther, is affected by traits(cooldown reduction, sharing, leeching, might) and can be shared to allies via traits. That is pretty strong. It doesn’t have a place in every build, but neither do all other elites.

Personally, I use it in a modified version of Jinzus’ backstab spec (http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/64152-jinzus-burst-backstab-build/), prime it along with skale venom for might, cloak and dagger+steal, signet, backstab. All traited to give might. Hits hard and keeps the opponent still long enough for me to guarantee a backstab from behind. It’s a bit of a glassy spec but allows me to run a knights amulet with beserker jewel for 19+k hp and still hit extremely hard on my burst while not being all glass.

No offense, but every poster I’ve seen claims to win 75-80% of their tPvP matches and sPvP matches. C’mon, we all know that’s not true. Now, if you’re a member of a high end team running tPvP all day, I’d believe it. Otherwise, there is no way one single player makes the difference in every single tPvP match enough to win it regardless of teammates guild or pug.

The tree is certainly not useless. It offers condition removal and area healing combos as well as passive regen. It’s nice for group fights. It’s probably not the most useful but it isn’t bad at all. The area healing combos on blast finisher actually heal for quite a bit. It is nice group support in middle point fights.

Highlet I notice you use plague signet in your build and even dedicate a major trait in spite towards it. However I think it’s worth nothing that at the moment plague signet is heavily bugged, and will only copy conditions on to you, not removing them from other players. Therefore it might be worth changing both that utility skill and trait to something that’s working properly

Yes I know it only copies and doesn’t remove. However, it is the only stun break in that build and therefor necessary in my opinion for sPvP tournament play. In fact, it really is our only stun break period since spectral walk is so meh in my opinion. It is still, even in its bugged state, incredibly useful as another condition purge to push conditions back into epidemic spam which is why I dedicate the trait to it because it needs to be up as much as possible. When greater marks trait is fixed, I will likely drop it or the dagger cooldown trait in exchange for greater marks. But as of right now, I find the greater marks trait to be a hindrance since it does not apply to mark of blood and though it applies to chillblains trigger radius, it does not apply to the effect or damage.

I don’t believe those sigils of agony will stack on the weapons. I haven’t tested those particularly, but other sigils only apply to the weapon itself. So, in other words, you would only get 10% from sceptor skills and 10% from dagger skills, not 20% from both. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe this is current spvp functionality on those. Also, that build is glassy as all get out, eek!

Once greater marks is fixed you can drop 10 out of either spite or blood and pick it up with 30 in death. Right now running it can hinder you more than help since chillbains will fire and not hit unless you put it right on the target. This is generally how I’m running it right now. Things are up for discussion in terms of runes and sigils but that’s the basic setup I’ve found to be effective. You could drop minor corruption for geomancy. You could also drop afflicted/krait for undead but I much prefer afflicted/krait. You can move traits around as well but the 30 in curses is pretty much necessary in my opinion for duration on bleed stacking. Some people like to run some into the soul reaping line but, in my opinion, you need to go full 30 into that for it to be effective and having shorter cooldowns is more beneficial.

Not really. It allows for a critical stun/knock down to take place which results in easier/more kills….. learn to play and use it correctly.

He said blood fiend, not flesh golem. Blood Fiend is easily the most useless heal we have.
