I just joined this guild this week. A fun and helpful group! Come and join in the fun!
dota 2 is dota1 full HD why? because dota1 players wanted it to be that way.
gw1 players came to gw2 because of the previous game. sadly gw2 is not gw1 full HD and a lot of players are disappointed about it. and a lot of gw1 playerbase would like to play again gw1 GvG.
it is only a anet fault. nothing more, nothing less.
There are few to any hardcore PvP’ers in GW2 atm…
There are only kittening 3~ hardcore premades…
A game near 3 months after release, made to be an e-sport.. yet in all of NA there are only roughly 3 kittening hardcore premades…
The game has allot more wrong with it than just not being an updated version of GW1. They tried to make a whole new system, reinvent the wheel if you will, and just got completely backlogged in kitten to handle… released way too early if you ask me… the whole PvP setup/system still needs allot of working out.I know a few people who played GW1 PvP religiously… yet can’t say the same about this game… those people actually rarely even touch GW2… at best for the PvE…
GW1 had a proper ladder/matchmaking system from the box. Where is this now?
Who are we kidding Anet? PvP in GW2 is second rated compared to PvE. PvPers go should and will go back to PvP Games which GW2 is not.
I think conquest is a laugh in our face. It’s not a good mode for MMO PvP in my opinion.
From What I have seen, most group fights end up in spamming AOE damage and Heals and hope you have bigger numbers than your opponent.
Nope, maybe on low level – but in paid tournaments, you actually play more on all 3 points and therefore you do have split all the time and small fights 1v1 and 2v2. if there is a fight bigger then 2v2 or 3v3 then it usually mean that one team is more superior and is able to lock you at respawn or on one point.
GW1 PvP was so much superior to this.
Thats right, GW1 was much more PVP oriented and with more focus on team play and team focus.
still can“t understeand why Anet decide to create new PVP .. if their first try was sooo soo sucessfull..
Maybe I am too fixed on old style GvG, but both free and paids I still consider a 3v3 an aoe clusterkitten.
Bottom line, give us our core elements
They only have 1 month left, or they will break their second promise. And I doubt a lot of players can take that.
what was the second promise? i probably missed that one? well.. i guess the first is “when is ready” ??
The “second promise” would be that they’ve said they will be having the e-sports elements of the game out by the end of the year.
I honestly don’t see that happening.
Dota 2 still lacks a ladder interface. All ladders are good for is to stroke one’s ego. MM systems however, are different.
The problem that I am noticing is that people keep comparing GW2 to DOTA2/LoL and Smite. This comparison is rubbish. Those 3 moba games don’t have a PVE component so the companies for those games are 100% focused on delivering the best PvP they can.
In GW2 PvE is more important for Anet in my opinion. ( Look at the magnitude of the patches)

This is not a ‘ladder’ this is just showing us which teams invested enough time to ‘farm’ QP.
Real ladders would need a rating system.
I think it measures all the hits you have taken since you went in combat and got finished while downed.
Ranger’s downed state is quite powerful. You can use your pet’s skills while downed and even switch pets.
I think people are over estimating the amount of organized teams that are present in the game.
ilJumperMT.4871Thief has lower burst then Warrior or Mesmer, while both of them have more survivability then thief..
If you think that, you’re probably not playing your Thief right.

Show me any thief that comes close to that
This is a known bug and it is needless to spam this screenshot all over the forums.
Thief burst provides higher damage than a warrior’s burst.
In shorter time.

Try again
Looks fine to me, hundred blades is easy to dodge.

Thief burst provides higher damage than a warrior’s burst.
In shorter time, I also find that warrior’s burst is very easy to dodge while thief is much trickier. The off set to this is that warriors have higher HP and Armor and usually carry a shield in off hand.
With that said thief short bow is another powerful weapon in my opinion. No class can spam 3-5k aoe constantly. ( I think)
(edited by Hopeless.8195)
Thief’s easiest targets are other thieves.
I don’t have a problem with 8v8. And I will agree with “don’t like it, don’t do it” part. I do sometimes find it amusing after I am doing with tournies.
0.5 sec is too short? Have you ever played an HA pd mez in gw1? A good pd mez can see a 0.5 sec cast skill, cast pd (That is istant)…and interrupt that skill…all before the 0.5 cast time passed
LOL QQ more noobs…so hilarious
watch and l2p
In this video, the interrupter is standing and waiting for skills he knows will be cast. In fact, NOTHING is happening except a demonstration of interrupts. The skills are 0.5 seconds, and even though he is waiting for it he just barely makes it happen with an instant cast skill.
So, to relate that to this situation:
Instead of knowing this is about to happen and interrupting the skill within 5 seconds, we have to spontaneously react with a stunbreak AND a dodge or other invulnerability skill or something.
The result of the failure in your video example is that the skill gets cast.
The result of the failure in this situation is death of your character.Seriously, you don’t see that as a problem? I’m not saying people can’t react quickly… I can hit the brakes in my car within that time frame without a problem. I’m also not saying that people should have 2 or more seconds to react to this, because that would effectively neuter thieves.
I think what we are saying is that this is an awfully short time frame to determine the life or death of a character, when the rest of the game is built around longer fights.
We aren’t talking about a single interrupt while you are COOPERATING with the spell-caster and WATCHING his health bar for a casting animation. Instead we are talking about something that happens from stealth, from distance, and is followed by more stealth and potentially more of the same burst – OR a complete and effective escape which nullifies any inherit risk.
Besides, ANet has said they are actively looking into this at the moment and plan to nerf the burst in favor for some other kind of buff. They can see the issue here, why can’t you?
That video is a bad example.
The monk is having arcane corundum cast on him, which if memory serves me right slows down spells.
From all the talk about Trinity, I fail to see how none of the people around here mentioned that GW1 did not have a trinity either.
In ‘balanced’ gvg team. You had Offensive (damage/hex/conditions/buff), Flag runner, a healer and a protector.
I found that balance to be awesome. I no way any class was a ‘tank’.
I find a problem is how thieves work, they can ‘spam’ skills, which in my books promotes bad play.
In my opinion the portals need a drastic change in tPvP. It is too powerful to ‘exploit’. I see portals as a way to trivialize strategy by being able to bounce between points. I know it is a strategy within itself to use portal to travel, but it is too much. I would go as suggest to remove portal from pvp until an idea of how it can be changed is out.
Or simply make portal in pvp to have much less distance.
I would assume, that having a character that is logged out in the Mists will have it’s pvp armor on on char selection.
I would like to suggest to allow us to PvP salvage for our monthly achievement.
I am mostly a PvP but I like to do my dailies and get Ach points. My problems lies within not getting Salvage points for PvP gear.
Thanks.
There were/is more pvp types in the Halloween event than there is in the actual game. Is this the case or is it just me?
Or give the same amount of points for winning/loosing team. So everyone will only focus on winning not scoring.
I wouldn’t dismiss this idea because of Mesmer portals. I would just change how the portal works.
More bunkers doesn’t always mean survivability. A 3v3 of 3 bunkers vs 3 balanced, the balanced team ‘should’ win imo.
They switched from a slow paced controlled pvp(This was fun) to a CC kittenfest.
I like this idea, as I think it would bring a lot more team coordination in point defending, compared to Bunker down till help arrives.
This was also a no brainer reward in GW1, another reward system I would like to see return.
This game already has no time invested crap in pvp…are yall really going to complain if a team that plays 10x more than you has 10 more points. Will the whinning ever stop /wrist
Of we will whine about something like this. It is logical that the better teams (aka Teams with best win to loss ratio) should be in the tournaments.
GW1 had a good ranking system. People spamming tournaments, even if they are bad is a not a good way to have leagues.
I am read it and understand this correctly, me and the rest of us who have full time jobs can say goodbye to playing in tournaments(the big ones)?
If winning paid tourneys will give QPs, and these are used to apply for the larger tournies then anyone who plays more will get to qualify.
EG:
Team 1 plays 100 tournies wins 90 of them. They have 90% win rate.
Team 2 plays 1000 tournies win 100 of them. They have 10% win rate.
Players in team 2 will have more QPs?
I hope not.
Looks good. I wonder if I will manage to get everything!!
Down system is fine, you just need to get used to it. I lol so hard when people say that the downed state of the thief is good. Thief and Mesmer downed state are nothing special if you have a clue about what they do and what “aoe” means.
Warrior, Necromancer and Guardian have really strong down state, but even they have their down sides. Learn to adapt to them and it won’t be a big deal.
All classes can be finished as soon as they are downed. Except for Thief and Mesmer.
nerf backstab, rebuff pw.
100b does 20k damage. PW does 6k damage (in sPVP)
Can easily dodge hundred blades. PW is a much more annoying skill.
Development time.
They spent the majority of their time on PvE. What was left was creating 3 similar style PvP maps and setting up the infrastructure for tournies.
Or they wanted to start with something more easy to balance :P
Like League of Legends maps :P
Well, balancing pvp for this crappy conquest mode will make other types of modes unbalanced.
I hate conquest, I want pvp to be revolved around actual fights not avoidance of said fights to capture points.
People should not be able to swap chars or gear in a match. Nor should they be able to leave and switch gear/char outside.
Have condition removal, and don’t use it right away.
- Let the thief caltrops
- Let him Deathblossom 2-3times
- Move out of Caltrops while using your condi removal.
This way the thief will have low initiative and won’t be able to do another quick 20 bleed stack. DO NOT try to hit a Deathblossiming thief, he/she will evade all attacks at the time.
You can also counter dodge the thief, but I would suggest keep the dodges for after your use your condition removal.
Relic runs were fun.
What is stopping you from joining and premade and stomping as well? Stop being butt hurt and get good.
I think thieves need to be given more survivability and less damage.
Attack speed buffs in GW1 were 33% and usually for around 8 seconds. This worked very well and did not unbalance the game.
Stop making people wait, go in tPvP.
As a warrior let me tell you that you always need to roll away from where the warrior is facing. If you side dodge you will still get hit by 3-4 hits.
Well, I guess I’m the only one who has no problem with thieves backstab despite playing glass.
The Twitch fall makes me sad.
A backstab thief will kill you before you react, if you are a glass cannon.
Take boon removal..
A proper backstab thief can also kill the tankiest of bunkers if they stand still(in 2-3 seconds).
Mesmers have too many tricks up their sleeve compared to most classes too.
Because Mesmers are intentionally made to be an anti-player profession, just like in Gw1. Mesmers are inherently a PvP profession and therefore perform much lower in PvE. So if you think Mesmer are OP, its because it has always been a PvP class. In PvP Mesmers are working as intended.
EDIT: As for Thiefs I cannot say because I have not encountered them much in PvP. As far as I can tell, they have high ammounts of spike damage and devastating chains. Block/Evade skills dont help much because they’ll only negate one attack within a long chain of high damage attacks.
I’ve discussed this with my mates plenty of times. The problem I find with mesmers is that they are designed for messing with people. So from a class design perspective they are stronger. Again this is just my opinion.
Yes, Mesmers are an anti-player profession by design. You are correct. Thats why they suffer in casual PvE. Are they impossible to kill? No, just harder to kill 1v1. I believe you can counter them with timing and skill.
Indeed, maybe I might sounds like a kitten but I don’t give a rat’s kitten about pve. I bought GW2 for pvp.
My problem with mesmer being that if 2 equally skilled gamers fight each other 1 v 1 I would like for both of them to have a chance to win (mind this is impossible since no game can be 100% balanced) but as I see GW2 at the moment is that mesmers give out a lot in both 1 v 1 and they also work well with a group.

Can I get a list of videos of people beating mesmers in 1 v 1s. I am interested in seeing these so I can learn because I often find myself running away/losing versus a mesmer.
Without proof of combat I will just assume 99% of the people on forums are just simple forum warriors.
It is often faster to kill a treb without killing the mesmer defending it.
Botter reporting - any way to find out the result?

Don’t get you ban if you make too many report a day??
I see so many bots in Cursed Shore but most of the time just report a handful.
I believe you may get a warning if you are spamming reports which are fake/misleading.
