If your fun is building up a server from the ground to be competitive in WvW, then do it. If your fun is having epic battles in WvW, then you go to the battle. You can’t expect everything to fall into place around your feet.

If the game wouldn’t save petnames then we wouldn’t be able to rename pets and petnames would revert immediately to it’s original name the moment you press “Accept” when trying to rename a pet.

… your semantics on the word “save” are sketchy. What is in place now is nothing more than a “clipboard” form of saving the name. When you swap a pet, the name goes away.

There is no save feature for the pet names.

well, i agree that there is a “problem” with the pet names saving. but i REFUSE to call it a “bug”. bugs are when things don’t work as intended. in this case, they did not put the feature to save the name into the code. therefore, there is no code to be bugged.

What are you smoking? They gave us the ability to name our pets. Those names are not retained when swapping pets. In some cases those names are copied to other pets.

If I name my black bear Steve and then pull out my Jungle Spider the spider should not be named Steve. But many times it is.

That is a bug.

And don’t even get me started on how my pet randomly runs off and attack mobs…

Lion’s Arch just took 12.5 seconds to load on my laptop, which has an SSD.

Load times are roughly similar on my desktop, which also has an SSD.

Because it’s stupid that people put in buy orders for less than a vendor buys the item for.

Why on God’s green Earth would I sell something on the BTP for less than I can get for it from a vendor?

It’s an annoyance and makes selling stuff on the BTP a pain in the kitten totally defeating the purpose of the buy order in the first place.

Example- there is a buy order on the BTP right now for a yellow 1h mace for 1c. All this is doing is blocking buy orders from legitimate buyers.

As someone mentioned it also really, really sucks when you are in a zone and have to multiple levels of gathering tools. I’m in Bloodtide Coast and I can use steel mining picks but can’t use steel axes or steel sickles. What a giant pain in the rear…

Other people have suggested have slots for each level, and the game automatically uses the right tool, or being able to sell the items back for a pro-rated price to a vendor.

I would prefer the first one, which would clear up the issue and inventory problems.

That is definitely a more sophisticated option but it would keep us from wasting higher level tools on lower level stuff.

This isn’t necessarily a bug, but the suggested level for the Ranger quest “An Apple a Day” should really be raised into the 40s (with corresponding level appropriate rewards) if you are going to put it Bloodtide Coast, a zone rated for 45-55.

I have to do this on my Lenovo that I posted above, the i7 has the built-in Intel HD 3000 as well as the nVidia GPU.

OP, if your laptop has GPU switching you can disable it in the BIOS so the discrete GPU is used all the time instead of the onboard.

Gaming laptops are a gimmick. There isn’t a single mobile chip that has the raw GHz this game needs to run smooth everywhere, nor will there be til at least after Skylake.
Likewise, the GTX560m/GTX660m that I see on the majority of these “gaming” laptops is still worse than a desktop GTX260 from 2008. That’s the price you pay for mobility.

Luckily not all developers made the switch to target low-end machines.

I have a pair of 6870s and don’t have any issues with crashing or freezing.

Also those CDs, while “new”, were probably made from a build of the game that was at least a month old by the time the game officially launched.

So, no, it’s not surprising that you still had to download a bunch of new data.

When I’m not at home I play on a Lenovo T420s with all settings on low, except for Textures on High and Render Sampling on Native and I get between 30-40 fps in PvE.

I haven’t tried out the Mac client yet on my wife’s MacBook Pro yet, I need to get around to it.

Your issue is the 9400.

Win7 runs significantly better with 8GB of RAM than 4GB. With RAM as stupid cheap as it is there is no reason to be running less than 8GB with a 64-bit OS.

In wvw I get 15-25 FPS with gtx 680 and i5 2500k stock. So yeah, it requires a good CPU at least.

Crank that 2500k & watch ur fps fly. What’s the point of even having a 2500k running at stock?

Because it costs money to buy a cooler? I can’t put it in myself and in that case I’ll have to pay someone to do. I mean, it does like 2-3 FPS difference in most games anyways.

You can’t expect top performance with the videocard that you have, it’s considered a budget videocard. That being said, it’s still going to be better than any of the onboard GPUs included by either Intel or AMD.

For reference, I get around 45FPS with the computer in my sig with everything set to “Best Performance” and I play at 1920×1200- that’s with both of 6870 cards running in CrossFire. If I switch to windowed mode to only use one card my framerate drops into the 20s.

What is “a lot of money”? No offense but there isn’t anything in your configuration that is current or high dollar.

I’d imagine you should be able to play the game on up to medium settings.

Not to be offensive or anything but your living up to your name, this person(s) clearly quite proud of their pc and rightfully so. There is no need to beat down on someone just because in your opinion their pc is sub par. Also everyone has a different view on the phrase “a lot of money” since this could be a teenager spending their weekly pocket money that could have took months to save up to upgrade their computer or a person with plenty of savings and felt like splashing out, either way its rude and disrespectful to assume their pc is inadequate simply because it does not have the latest graphics card or processor.

In my own opinion I believe the computer configuration is quite adequate and should be reasonable to play most games to an acceptable level.

I stated that the OP should be able to play on medium settings with his setup. There was nothing in my post that was rude or offensive.

When I am looking for advice I want straight-up, honest answers, not bs and coddling.

As Ashley said, if you upgrade to that 1GB videocard your system will only be able to use less than 3GB of your system RAM.

The 4GB 32-bit OS limit isn’t just for system RAM, it includes all addressable memory.

How did you install Windows7? I know my disks have both the option of 32-bit and 64-bit.

Anyway OP, I know this isn’t what you want to hear but you aren’t going to get any meaningful increase in performance by only upgrading one of your components.

Exactly. My opinion is that 2gb isn’t enough. It’s true that GW2 isn’t using all 2 gb but the minimum requirement for Win 7 32 bit is 1gb. Since that’s isn’t much and you’re only having 2gb i would say atleast 3gb for 32bit.

And running Win7 with 1GB is an exercise in futility. 64-bit Win7 runs significantly better with 8GB of RAM than 4GB, much less only 2GB.

Do people even run 32-bit Win7 at home? Obviously more than 4GB in that instance would be pointless.

The FPS on my dad’s Core2Quad XPS are in the 20’s on medium settings. I’m in the mid 40’s with my computer (sig) with everything maxed.

What is the question exactly…? I switch characters a lot. I got an Elementalist up to 19 then switched to a Guardian and got him to 38. Today I’ve been playing a Ranger and he’s almost level 10… Play how you want. Eventually you’ll end up playing one toon more than the others and you’ll be on your way.

OP will also have to buy new RAM as well. Still, saving up is definitely preferable to trying to band-aid your current system OP.

I’m not sure how prices are in the UK but here an i5 upgrade is going to be $450-$550 iirc- that would be for processor, mobo and RAM.

Upgrading your videocard won’t help you much, if at all. Upgrading your CPU will definitely be the longest-lasting upgrade you’ll make.
