If you compare the effect of 2 skills you can try to compare the powerfull combo of the Guardian (Torch skill 4 + judge’s intervention + Purging flames) that bstack 10 Burning.
With a good condition build, you can deal more or less 12k in 4.5 sec. 16k if you crit and reactive Zealot’s fire.
It’s very high. Very very high.
But you have a skill that recharge in 15 sec, another in 32 and another in 28 (and not all condi guard use purging flames, someone like me still prefer Smite Condition for the meditation heal and fury).Then, look to a warrior combo: Eviscerate + Rush + 100Blades.
Eviscerate can del more or less 8-9k of damage (more if you stack might), then rush can deal 1.5-2k and 100Blades can deal more or less 15k of damage.
It’s more or less 25k of damage in 5 seconds.
And you can reactive eviscerate in 8 sec, 100Blades recharge in 6.5 sec and rush in 32 sec.Eviscerate can hit a enemy with soldier amulet and protection up, reducing the damage, but a enemy can clean (and sometimes send back) burn. And there’s more classes with a lot of skills (active and passive) that clean conditions than classes with protection. A lot of classes have skills to be immune to damage, but also some classes have skills and traits to be immune to conditions.
About block/blind/dodge both the direct and condition attacks need to hit the enemy, expecially for the guardian, that have only 3 skills to deal it’s big condition damage, out of that he can only stack 1 burn every 3 attacks (in auto attack in the same time a ranger with shortbow can deal more bleed damage)
And if you watch at the direct damage that a thief can deal in 4.5 sec… he can kill a bunker in 4.5 sec XD
Then, Guardian condition damage is very high, burn is very powerfull, but direct damage is still better than burn and other conditions.
but i thought the point of conditions was for sustain and over time damage? Not in a quick burst? the fact that you can burst some one down in under 6 seconds with burn seems to not fit the idea for condis which is supposed to require time. Or is 6 seconds now considered over time and sustained damage? just curious

desperate decoy: stealth at 50% health does not go off in any threshold atm. I did have PU equipped so maybe they conflicted did not test without PU
Thieves don’t have portals though. I can see a mesmer group being perma stealthed inside an enemy keep being an issue. Provided they can really keep that 100% up. It would make sweeping pointless because they can just keep moving and avoiding the sweep. Thieves are a bit squishy so even if they stay in a keep it takes a good one to take out a lord solo.
indeed. before patch it required 1 thief and a mesmer to stay perma stealth and portal zerg back in. now it requires….gasp… the same. or 2 mesmers can now do it. still requires same amount of people as before patch.
Ps. would like to say i main mesmer and would be happy with pu nerf so i dont have to run it in roaming.(also 72 second cd on mass invis with trait)
sigil seems to have a 16 seconds duration of poison instead of the stated 6 seconds it used to have? tool tip still says 6 seconds.

Nearly killing (he even died multiple times) a full tank guardian wearing sentinel amulet in one second shouldn’t be possible. >.<
he wasnt tanky at all. the time i watched the mesmer burst the guardian all the way down he was wearing carrion. so hardly any toughness in that build.
again he was wearing a carrion amulet. unless later on in the video he changes it.

Last night i was dueling an ele guildie and we discovered that that anything i interrupted went on the normal cool down. I tried it on multiple moves churning earth, ether renewal(heal), ride the lightning and even a few utilities. The cool downs were all the same whether i had trait equipped or not.
So first question am I misunderstanding how power block works? or does it not work on ele either like it doesn’t work on thief?
ps. Iam 100% sure it was increasing cds on warriors and guardians before they nerfed the damage of said trait. had tested it on duels with guildies a few days ago too.
i could be wrong but hasnt guardian blinds been able to go through evade last 2 years? was asking my guardian guildies and they thought so?

For that single trait it’s really abit too much. I don’t even use boon duration stuff and still 12 stacks of might by spamming 1. On the other hand, there’re traits that trigger at 50% health and only grant 1 might per second for 8 seconds, resulting in 8 stacks of might from staying at <50% health and it’s a GM trait with no additional effect..

and uses a new ranger trait that he doesnt like to show that his memser is op. no bias here… if anything the thing that is over the top would be the cripple portion but what ever after 3 years im used to any buffs given to mesmers being taken away soon after patch day.

Well look what we have here.. Few days ago a SBI player posted a screenshot of himself in the enemy Citadel and claimed he did not use hacks and was just having fun. That post got deleted and is no longer on these forums. Others told me to chill out cause I said he deserved a ban.
Now seems others are doing it the same exact way he was doing it. In my eyes its an exploit and although you can’t capture Citadel like the chat states, they can destroy golems stored there. They deserve a ban. Once they learn the other exploits whats to stop them from actually getting into objectives and capture them.
Anet has fixed the ground in QL so I don’t see why they can not fix the ground at these areas that these players are using to exploit into things.
To the SBI guy that was just having fun, You think this guy is having fun sitting in his citadel making sure these players don’t destroy their golems. I stick to my statement that anyone using any exploit should get banned..
lol this has been happening since the first week of beta. if you think everyone learned how to do cause of a recent post then lols.
well last night my guild ran around all maps for at least 4 hours, came across 1 fight. we are ticking at around 600 ppt all during our play time. absolutely nothing to do. and its made worse cause all the players who come out in droves cause we are just steam rolling.(at least 2 tags up per map). 3 years in everybody should be used to these types of weeks. and to be honest its always more fun to be the side that owns nothing. So i dont condone getting in to citadel but it is mind numbing boring out there for BP so i understand the reasoning.
are yall serious? if so, instead of asking anet to buff your play style why don’t you evolve it? hmm you know that they are going to burn every cd on your tag do something with that knowledge.
if you know that your zerg falls apart when the tag dies? then have another member ready to tag up if needed. or maybe even have it up as another color ready to go for the switch.
there are many options to combat this “problem”. asking anet to buff the commander shouldn’t be one of them.

Does anyone know of any videos to show stomping with our portal skill that is within the last year?
I used to be able to do it easily but had thought it was impossible recently until i say helselth do it on twitch. after spending time in the mists testing it for about 1-2 hours i can do it but it seems to work randomly. So am I missing something? or is it not a 100% for sure move?
I play mainly WvW. then dungeons, then spvp.
Played since first beta. Have an 80 of every class. At the start of the game I made my main toon(a mesmer) as fast as possible. Sadly i made a huge mistake and made him as a charr. Finally decided i was tired of the tons of armor that looks horrid on my char so decided to make a new human mez to replace him…
Hit level 30 yesterday saw the new trait in all its glory for the first time(all other toons had all traits unlocked already).. and have decided its not worth my time to even finish him because of this trait system. I also probably would of been completely turned off the game back at the start if this had been in.
Map completion has always been boring for me and only 1 toon of my 8 even has 100%(the rest all have between 10%-40%). To have to manually unlock each trait is just impossible for me, I would only grab the key triats that i know are most important.
Also, spending the kind of gold and sps that would be required to just skip the searching is kind of crazy. I never would of made 8 different classes in this system if i would of even finished 1.
On second thought how would you rank the classes now for dueling if they used best dueling specs?
I still read and hear people say this all the time on forums and in game.
What is your thoughts on the strength of mesmer in a 1 on 1 fight even if they are specced for it?
Ps. Im to lazy to confirm but i do know that out of all the 1vs 1 tournies that have been hosted mesmer hasnt won many if any at all.

So last night on reset my server BP was pulling about 60-95 pts per turn behind CD who was in first. This held up for like the first 2 or so hours. But as my small group noticed we BP were ahead by about 600 total points after the first 2 hours. How? We held all three buffs for the majority of the time for the first hour or so. So im assuming that we pulled ahead by so much just by stakes? If so i do believe this is a step in he right direction.
Of course the stat buffs are OP and unwanted. But the points for kills is awesome.
Ascended weapons can now drop anywhere ascended materials or other ascended items can be found.

Was farming champs in frostgorge and when opening up a stack of the chests i had an ascended chest pop out. I do not have a screen shot but as i didnt even know these dropped i thought i would let people know. Sorry if it is already common knowledge i checked and didnt see any threads.
The chest when opened gave me a choice of any type of ascended weapon of the valkrie stat type. It was account bound.
Again this is just a heads up that these do drop off of champs
It’s very rock paper scissor stacked with hard counters.
Phant mes, BM ranger are OP 1v1 vs a majority but a necro or an engie can hard counter a phant mes especially if hes not running a condi remover, and in turn a BM ranger will get stomped by a phant mesmer more often than not.
I agree with most of what you said but wanted to point out (for another emphasis) that in your own example you pick 4 classes out of 8 that are all top tier 1vs1 or at least counter the top tier classes. I would also like to add that thief can also counter some of these specs(played by a great player of course). So that could be arguably 5 of the 8 classes that can 1vs1 in the “top tier” of duels. Not perfect balance but it is a lot better then most would say in these forums.
Or that player skill matters massively and the forum whiners are just whiners…

So i have been playing since beta 1 as a Mesmer. One thing that I have heard over and over again is that Mesmer is suppppperrrrr OP in 1vs 1s. Heck i even agreed with it for a long time. But ever since Custom arenas have come out people have been hosting 1vs1 Tourneys. And just looking at the PvP Events front 2-3 pages, i see 3 1vs1 tourneys that have taken place recently.
Guess how many times the winner was a mesmer?
Not a one.
So either all the Mesmers that played were so horrible that they failed with a OP class(Probably this right? ) or we can all realize that while Mesmer is very strong in 1vs1s it is maybe not the very top? And if it is the top 1vs1 there are other classes that are very close if not at par with it.

Just make so that if a thief misses his back stab because of: block, blind, agesis, invulnerability then back stab goes on cooldown of 8 seconds. Thief would not be revealed so they wouldn’t lose their mechanic of stealth but they would lose out on their big burst do to bad playing. They also would not be able to use Back stab the very next 3 second stealth window which would force them onto some actual counter play.
The 8 seconds is just a number and could be raised or lowered of course
if you play only wvw and if you arent unexperienced then this is no problem
if you grind only cof all day with a good team and max goldfind then your charged loadstones would be no problem too
that is my point. i have tons of badges. have spent close to 2-3k of them as well. 300 badges does nothing for me, like you and the other poster showed.
But for those CoF farmers and players who only play pve this just saved them a lot of time and effort. So again…
can i get 3/5 of my charged lodestones?
kinda defeats the whole premise of having to do all parts of the game line they have been using all this time. that is 3/5 of the way to the needed 500 for the gift.

I also have this error popping up. I am able to play the game and i can see and talk to other people in game but i am not able to join any spvp matches or tourneys. It just says this error.

Having 5% more dmg means, in the best case scenario (it stacks multiplicatively instead of additively from any other % dmg buff) if you take the guy down to 4.67% life… the extra 5% dmg will make it a kill.You can feel that that is build breaking… but I’m sorry, I’m just laughing.

i was able to use sigil of battle and sigil of accuracy ont he other weapon set. they both proc.unless of course my game or test was wrong i just went to the mists and tested on a buddy.
They both proc, but they have an internal cd, so when one procs, the other one won’t until that cd lasts. If you for example use a sigil on weapon swap, 10 sec cd, and one that procs on critical hit on 5 sec cd, when you swap a weapon, you won’t be able to get any effects from other sigil for 10 secs at least.

i was wondering this as well. i can not think of any reason why 2 hander weapons only have 1 sigil. is there something i don’t know? Do all 2 handed weapons completely out class 1 handers? or is there some kind of hidden advantage of using a 2 hander?
if not then it seems like a very large over sight. 4 sigils when using 4 1-hander weapons compared to only 2 sigils when using 2 2-hander weapons can be a very large difference in a build.
ok maybe not but they have added a new crop in southson that is called Blooming Passiflor. it drops a passion flower every time. i have found 2 already and have harvested them on all my alts. the price of these should drop alot.

Do you wish you could play against another small group but they are on another server? Well now you can. Come join the 3 vs 3 Team Death Match Tournament which well take place in the mists. Sadly you will have to adjust your builds due to less stats but you are guaranteed good competition and equal fights! Oh btw this will take place in NA.
I am in the process of facilitating a 3 vs 3 Team Death Match Tournament to be held within the next week depending on response and team signups. Structure: Will be a 3 Round Tournament. All rounds will be best of 3.
Arena Settings: 8 Min total, 500 top score, Individual Respawn, Ready button must be clicked, Locked Skills and Locked Gear. 45 second respawn timer, No Temple of the Silent Storm, or Raid on the Capricorn. 3 players per team but allow max observers. Arena’s will be pass worded.
When: Will start on Thursday evening at 8pm eastern time on 5/16/13.
Teams: To participate you will need to go to this website and fill out the quick form on the main page: http://gw2tdm.webs.com Make sure leader includes account name(ie: Ishbaal.1503). I will contact you in game with follow up information. If i receive no response within 3 days of sent in game mail then i will move to next team.
Depending on the response of teams and the availability of Custom Arena’s this will be a 8 team tournament. Therefore we will be going off of first come first served. If your team can not go on the date decided then an alternate team will take your place.
If there is enough of a response it will always be possible to make a larger bracket(ie:16 teams).
Tournament Rules:
1) Best of 3
2) No switching classes at all during tourney
3) 2 class limit per team. ie: only 2 warriors per team, not 3!
4) Each Round will have a 8 minute timer.
5) All weapons, traits, and elites allowed. All stats allowed.
6) If neither team dies completely:
a. if neither team gets a kill then both teams receive a point. Therefore next game
will decide winner(ie: score would be 1-1). If the second match also ends up with zero kills then both teams take a loss and would be out.( Don’t bring an all bunker/stealth group)
b. Most kills win round. Downstate does not count as kill.
c. If teams tie on kills then round goes to team with first kill.
7) There is no releasing nor rezzing of dead players.(Downed state is not dead)
8)Locations are not set in stone as of yet. But here is a list of probable locations and I will update asap for final locations:

even though it is really dumb of me to shine light on this(in case it is a bug). But decoy is a stealth all on its own. You can pop it while you have the revealed debuf and it will still stealth you. Or at least i go invisible and i would assume it does the same on my enemies screen. go test it and see. hope this isn’t a bug as it is really useful to take advantage of and as we all know they will fix bugs that help us in 2 days but ignore bugs that hurt us for months. cheers
now we need the same test video with the berserker before they broke him so that the devs cants say that he has always hit like this. anyone happen to have video showing the berserker landing hits more reliably from before Feb?(i think that was the patch that broke him?)
Don’t waste your time this game will never be a e-sport. Take a minute and play other games and you will realize how bad GW2 would be as a es-port not only that but i very very very much doubt Anet will ever fully complete there promise of supporting the game as a e-sport.
If the whole world had that attitude we’d all still be settled in Europe, riding horses and dying at the age of 45. Guild Wars 2 still have a possibilty to be an Esport. We have customs, we have spectators, we have willing streamers, youtubers, skilled PvPers, it CAN HAPPEN. A lot of top tier teams are comming back to pvp with the new patch. The only problem now is balancing, no MMO is ever balanced, and GW2 isn’t really THAT bad. Chin up, buttercup it can happen.

What are you talking about ? No one makes youtube videos which get over 2k views right now, no one streams with over 200 views max,NO ONE cares about gw2 pvp except the few people who just fail to accept the game was a flop pvp wise. 1 Player made tournament means nothing at all and it’s stream will fetch a max of 300 viewers with 0 prize pool or almost nothing and 13 random teams signing up from a game of 3million sales means nothing at all.
Trust me on this GW2 failed big time. Sorry if me being honest will upset you but there is 0 chance. Look at smite and what they did in BETA and they are still only a tiny e-sport. Anyone serious or decent in this game quit a long long time ago, the only people playing hardcore now seriously are deluded and should just play causal and wait for Wildstar to come out or pick up a e-sport title instead of wasting time on GW2.
Don’t argue about this subject there isn’t a big enough fanbase or support base (or devs) for the game to ever be a big pvp game let alone a e-sport. Paradigm shift and My own youtube channels were the biggest GW2 pvp channels with under 10k subs and 5-10k views on most videos which is nothing for a game which sold 2-3mil copys… Check league Check SC2 hell even check WoW and look at the views on youtube and on streams and you will see. just a fyi i just happened to see that BLU was streaming a few pick up matches this evening so i went to check it out. After the 3rd match i believe the active views was around 315? it kept over 285 for around 3-4 hours. Not saying that GW2 is where it needs to be atm, but for the first nite of a round of pick up matches it wasnt to bad of numbers(compared to past gw2 streams). It was more than i had seen on a gw2 stream up to date. And to be honest i actually enjoyed watching the matches. Anet still has a lot of ironing out to do but the Custom arenas and spectator mode is a good step.

Borlis Pass cracks me up.. Trying a new build on one of my characters, and every fight is either 2v1, 3v1, or 10+v1. They laugh, or goad as if they’ve done something. That’s one thing I respect from NSP is that they always challenge people to 1v1s, and we always show each other respect. Borlis Pass never runs solo, and they never show respect.

AR and Shiver have never ever let me duel when it was 1 vs more than 1. So get of your high horse and either l2play or get friends. People play the same way no matter what server you come from.

I fought some good duo-5 man from PAXA, TBAG, CORE and some others.
Heard about ENVY, but I only fought some random Envy and they were not anything special, but I’m sure they have some solid player. Heard about Skez or what ever too, but Only fought them when they were big numbers.
laughing and dancing over corpse are not server thing. Jkctmc say BP are worse then NSP, yet Bird Song just posted a screenshot of him spamming laugh over a corpse. and he is a commander, lacking any kind of sportmanship.
Respect come from skill, not server. I found out that the best fight I had where I lost, people didnt laught. And those that I won, many them they came back and /bow.
But when you get outnumbered, zerged, that when I find myself the victim of laught and dancing over corpse. They usually lack any kind of skill, and take their chance to dance over your corpse because they know they won’t be able to do it without their zerg.
But I personnaly don’t mind it. It motivate me to hunt the zerg, and kill them by surprise when they don’t watch their back. This kind of player usually die fast (usual GC thief).
My guild tags were FGM. though last week we decided to join GOAT so that when we get the desire to play with large number that are organized we have the ability to do so.
My main is a Charr Mesmer that is now currently running with a Pink greatsword. If you ever want a 1vs1 i can meet you with my mesmer/ranger/warrior (though the warrior is traited for group support, and fails at 1vs1s will still try it). Account name is to the left and memser name is Shieldhog.
To be honest shiverpeaks has tossed a ram on my body at least 4 times this past week. And me downing a person in a large group happens all the time. Then if they catch me they all ./sit and ./lol all the time. I just laugh as i know in the 1vs 3-8 we were equal in kills. And Anvil Rock does it just as much. Just as i have seen groups on BP do it to solo players as well.
My post was just pointing out that you have little kids on all servers so get off your high horse. And thanks.

This would allow for many more choices and flexibility in battles that require movement. It would also allow us as Mesmers to make the choice on whether to use warden for offense or defense or group support.

Make groups that exceed a certain number of allies in certain area receive in-combat speed.
For example:
If a group of allies of 30 or more are inside the range of the breakout event ring(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bnD90UC9fg *look at the minimap for ring size reference if needed) then they all go into combat speed.
The size of the area and the number threshold to trigger the combat speed is obviously just for example.
By slowing down the large zerg you either force it to split up or make it harder to respond to smaller more mobile groups.
