Not so long back ArenaNet were bragging to the world about what an awesome community they had and how proud they were of that. Somewhere along the way they seem to have forgotten that to have an awesome community they need to show that community that they care about them.

We paid good dollars to buy into the game and we continue buying cosmetics to keep the game viable but lately we are getting nothing in return. To me the Official speakers for the company using other platforms such as : twitter, facebook, reddit etc are basically saying to us that we just dont matter. These are the Official forums and as such should be where we are able to find the information we require. It takes equally as long to sign into the other platforms as it does to sign into these forums so there is no legitimate excuse for not using them.

The community is toxic you say??? But… But… But… as previously said just a little while ago you were bragging about your amazing community. What went wrong is what I ask? People become toxic when they are being ignored and its obvious no effort is being put in place to resolve problems.

The game and these forums used to be heavily monitored and that was the reason you had such a great community. Take away your presence as the moderators of the community and the s….t hits the fan.

So don’t blame the community for a problem that you have caused yourself.

OP your comments and opinions hold a lot of truth it is really sad that the naysayers feel they have to come in and nit pick your use of the English language. People are so funny they read your post and say none of it is correct yet in the same breath give their opinions and claim them as right.

I am LOVING HoT and I DONT find it grindy and I DONT hate that I have to work for Masteries and I DONT think the game is P2W and those are my opinions. Each to their own but there is no need to get personal and nasty about someones use of the English language because you cant make a valid point of your own.

HoT has been out a few days and everyone is screaming THE SKY IS FALLING, THE GAME IS GRINDY we cant get to full Mastery in a few days. This attitude is what is killing games as companies spend millions making them and then players expect to complete all content in a few hours or it is considered grindy.

Those people who play games to have fun and achieve things are in the game playing their characters and enjoying it. Those who expect everything to be easy and handed to them without putting in effort are here on the forums complaining.

I am thoroughly enjoying the new content, just taking my time and cruising around doing the new stuff on offer.

I absolutely love map completion. I currently have 5 characters at 100% and 9 at approximately 60%. Doing map completion is how I level my chars, so I for one dont want to see it go. I dont understand the problem the OP has in saying that map completion stops him making alts because it is totally not needed to make them. You can get your chars to lvl 80 so many different ways.

I dont understand why people want things taken out of games because it doesnt suit their tastes in game play. If you dont like it then just dont do it.

World completion is the worst.

Absolutely love doing World Completion it is my chosen form of leveling my chars. I am always way over levelled for each map but I enjoy doing all the bits and pieces. So many beautiful hidden spots on the maps I would never have found if I wasnt a map walker

When I log into GW2 they must put me on a special server. In comparison to other games the player base on GW2 are an absolute pleasure to play with. Never have to worry about being over powered by a mob because some kind soul running by will stop and help. On the rare occassion I die there is nearly always someone around to res me. Any time I ask a question it is always answered politely.

Logging in to GW2 is just a really nice feeling because you know up front the player base is so friendly and helpful.

Yesterday I bought a dress in Crossroads for $35 today I walked past and they had the same dresses on the discount rack for $20. Its all about timing and though you may not think timing is fair its the way of the world. Did I go into Crossroads and demand a $15 refund because in 24 hours they changed the price of the dress ? No I didn’t because as already stated its all about timing. This world is going to deal you a lot of crap if you are always looking backward and complaining about a price you paid being reduced or extra bonuses thrown in.

I love Holden cars and over the past 20 years every 4 years I trade in my Holden on the latest model. When I arrive at the dealership they don’t meet me with arms outstretched and roll out the red carpet because I am a veteran Holden owner. I don’t get offered special deals and bags of freebies I get the Holden car at the best price I am able to bargain them down to. The fact this next Holden will be my 6th makes me as a customer walking through their doors no more important than the guy walking in to buy his first one.

The 3 packs are what they are, some don’t feel they have value and others were more than happy to quickly purchase them. All of us see value in a different light and for me 3-4k hours of play time for a lousy hundred bucks is good value. I don’t care what is offered to also sweeten the deal for the newbies as I see that as value for me too because new players means more people to play with.

All this complaining in truth is all about some people feeling they are not getting enough value for their dollars. This is obvious in the repeated comments about the cheapest pack not coming with a char slot included etc. IF the value isnt there for you now then Im sure down the track when its offered cheaper it will make you smile By then Im sure I will have already blown through all the new content and be sitting back looking for a new game to play while I wait for GW2 to release another expac

Nothing makes me happier than having lots of people running around on a map for me to interact with. Of late the maps on GW2 have almost felt like I am in a solo instance.I guess we have a few options they either do server merges or we have mega servers and Im all for the mega server

OP if you are unhappy then no you aren’t wrong to leave. However after reading your huge wall of text I could only determine that you were leaving because this is not GW1. As a player who played both games I don’t live in retrospection and kid myself that GW1 was a perfect game. My memories of GW1 was a boring instanced game that held my interest for the shortest of times. 5-6 chars to lvl 20 and apart from standing around in town talking crap with the best of them there was nothing to do.

Everyone gets something different out of games, for instance I have just made one of my many returns to GW2 and am currently building my 9th char to lvl 80 and totally loving it. Takes me around 5 days to get a char to lvl 80 on GW2 and yeah that is a super hard grind fest.

I don’t understand why people think when they decide to leave a game a huge write up of why is necessary the moderators need to start removing goodbye threads. If you took the time to actually write something that was constructive that could be used to make the game play better then so be it but sadly I didn’t see anything but whinging in your post.

So Wrong with World Completion

I am not a pvper and I do have the Gold Star for World Completion. Like most people I don’t mind pvp in a group but solo I’m useless. I don’t complain about part of the achievement being in the pvp area because the pvp area is part of the game. Also I feel the World Map Completion should include the whole world because it is called WORLD completion.

For other non pvp players who would really like the achievement I gained mine over a long period of time by watching the maps for what we owned. I was also always on the alert for the zerg groups by watching chat and keeping my eyes glued to the monitor. I often bumped into solo players from the opposing servers who had the same mindset as myself and we both waved and continued on our completion journey.

I think I was killed maybe 4 or 5 times on my journey to receiving my gold star and knowing I braved the pvp area to get it means I wear that Gold Star with pride. And beleive me the deaths in pvp are just as annoying as the pve deaths but they dont hurt so JUST DO IT and go for that Gold Star

Chuo I agree with you and also understand that for some people wonderful improvements in GW2 arent what was expected because what I have seen after reading many GW1 threads and posts is that they really just wanted the old GW1 with a new dress on. They were happy living in their GW1 World with no website only the Wiki. They were happy standing around for major hours each day trying to sell items in populated areas because there is no broker. So yeah I understand the GW1 playerbase not liking the new and bright GW2.

I have played both games and for my playstyle GW2 with its flaws is better than GW1 because I just dont have the patience to take days to sell items. I log into a game to play not to merchant stuff and be bored stupid. I dont stand around in town talking, dancing and chatting I would go stir crazy.

The rest of the world the gaming community has advanced and expects certain features in their games and Arena needed to try to appeal to that larger player base than they had at GW1 because a HUGE amount of those GW1 players were burnt out and quit etc.

I still play GW1 because Im still working through completing the game but I will say where its easy for me to log into GW2 its hard to log into GW1 with the tired outdated colours and characters that are so ugly they make my eyes bleed

People complain about the temporary content that brings us new and exciting stuff to do on a roster system to keep the game from being too boring. People complain about the game having no end game but then whinge about a possible upgrade in lvl and or needing to buy new armour/weapons. If there is no new stuff to motivate people to work for those things then why do we need this mysterious and hidden endgame for?

People crying on almost every game forum the game is dying maybe…. just maybe…. the games aren’t dying cos they do magically hang around for many years, just maybe its not the game that is dying but this new entitled gamer attitude is wishing it would. Old time players aren’t crying the game is too grindy they don’t cry that every bug isn’t fixed in the first 10 minutes in fact we just worked with what we had and had fun doing it.

GW2 has its problems but none of them are game breaking, how much fun you have playing the game is determined not by the content the game gives you but by how entitled you think you are. If you are the new breed of gamer who thinks the gaming company is your own personal kindergarten and its their duty to amuse and keep you happy then nah GW2 isnt for you

I imagine 2 years from now people will still call this game new, right?

You name a single MMO that came into it’s own during the first year. That was fleshed out with a lot of end game content. Just one. I’ll wait here.

Most MMOs have either no end game, or tiny worlds, or tons of bugs. No one has a big huge world with lots of content and lots of end game and lots of bugs at launch nor do they have all that stuff a year later.

And you know, if it were easy, someone would have done it.

Rift came pretty close, except that the world was very small at launch and there were still some major gaffs. And people complained about no end game content.

Aion

You are joking right ???????? I remember the loud and long screaming over the imbalances etc on Aion. Still not fixed to this day either

GW2 is the FIRST game I have played where at any time the game is taken down and fixes implemented. No waiting for a certain day of week to put them in place, we have them we are fixing them and we are doing it now. Sure often as they fix one bug another is set off but they do keep working on them.

I love watching people crying about no endgame in a pretty newly released game. The change in gamer expectancy is what has totally ruined the gaming community and meant we are now offered below par games. Way back when we fully expected to start playing a game and have a level cap at different levels…. 30, 50, 80, 120, 160, 200 etc. We played a game for years NOT weeks and we didnt cry when they gave us new content that increased the level cap or meant we had to buy new weapons and armour.

I remember on one game I played for nearly 18 months every day on the same map killing the same mobs waiting for the level cap to be raised. I didnt cry about no new content I was having way to much fun with all my mates tearing up the game and making money for when the new content was released

In a heartbeat I would buy an expansion for GW2.

I laughed as I read through all the posts on this thread from all the GW1 fans who said they would return to GW1 because GW2 is so broken. Welll……… Ive been playing GW1 of late to get the HoM points and if a game is broken it is definately GW1. Char animations on some classes are so broken they are too ugly to even play and I will leave it there because I dont have the time to continue with its faults.

I have given up calling events UNLESS they are party ones because I never ask for them. I enter a map and wander around till I fall over them. People are always complaining about being bored etc yet they want to do everything in the shortest time with no real effort put in.

Someone has to put in the leg work to find the events and events are supposed to be encountered at random. Why should the same few people who actually play the game make it so much easier for USUALLY the people with X lvl 80 alts who just want to do it fast with no effort put in.

So yep you can feel free to call me unsociable etc but I play the game myself I dont expect everyone else to do the work for me

+1

I totally agree especially considering the main thing in this game is to get armour and weapon skins. There is not one armour set for my ele/mes/necro that IN MY OPINION is even half decent. Same goes with the Guardian armour … in fact I havent seen any armour at all that would have me grinding for days in dungeons to achieve. Therefore once level cap is reached the game is literally dead for me.

Female in real life and it saddens me that there is literally no really awesome armour for my girls to wear in game.

Not enough content? People complain. Too much content? People complain.

Always amazes me that people expect the game to only cater to them

GW2 is always putting in something new even if its something small they show they are working on making our gaming experience grow. Nothing is stagnant we dont just get the same event skinned differently. Each time I find myself getting to the point of quitting something is added that keeps me around The Adventure Box is one of those things it is so fun

LMAO Benty I love your sense of humour pity a LOT MORE of the people who read the thread couldn’t see it.

Yes you are very right the whiners do their thing and after a bit the game developers just say k that’s it, I’m done, they never appreciate it. I personally am loving the addition of the Adventure Box its such a fun thing to do.

I totally love that the dev’s take the time to almost every month put in something new to keep us entertained. I don’t always really enjoy the new content but they can’t please everyone just so long as they please some of us its all good.

As a long time gaming person I don’t understand the crying about OMG they might increase the cap because not so long back NO game was released at full cap. Lvls were always released over time so Im all good with new lvls being added. New lvls means new content etc and new goals to make and achieve

Raising level cap doesn’t mean new content, new content means new content.

They just have to design the content for low mid or high/endgame. 20 levels worked just fine in gw1.

You do realise you are playing GW2 dont you? My personal opinion of GW1 was that it was kitten by the 20 lvl cap and it kept my interest for about 5 minutes

To each their own I say. If the cap is raised of course you get new content with it

GW2 armour is some of the worst armour available in any game I have ever played. Its ugly and boring and more often than not spoilt by having too much of everything. The currently available town clothes are even more boring and uninteresting and nothing would convince me to spend my real dollars on them.

I personally love the Tera armour I dont need my character to be decked out in iron plate because after all this is fantasy. I want MY character to please my eyes when I am looking at her butt for major hours at a time.

I say have a variety of all styles so that there is something to please all. I promise not to cry at your ugly iron plate armour if you can allow me the same privilege and not complain about my skimpy stuff. That wont happen though cos sadly some people feel the whole world should be designed to their plan.

I personally hated Guild Wars 1 guild system where if I joined a guild on 1 character every character I created was auto joined into that guild. I also dislike intensely the option in GW2 that a character can be in multiple guilds, I dont see any advantage to it at all.

One of the key things that used to be so fun about games was logging in to a guild full of friends you played with. You all knew one another and you all spent large amounts of your game day together. Currently guilds arent really much of anything because of the multiple choice feature. In my honest opinion GW2 needs to remove the G from their name because guilds are not the main feature of the game.

LOL people complained about how boring completing daily achievement quests were so Anet changed them up a bit.

So that they could accomodate a much larger portion of their players they give you 9 quests so that you can choose the 5 you would like to complete.

Did that make you happy? OMG no it didnt it gave you something else to whinge about. Just because YOU dont want to do the pvp etc doesnt mean that other players dont. WE WERE GIVEN A CHOICE TO MAKE IT MORE FUN FOR US.

The reward is there if you do the extra 4 quests you get MORE achievement points and exp.
