Are you playing a glass condition build or something? You don’t have the health/toughness to roll in, C&D and roll out? Or just walk in timing with the mob?

Now it’s autoattacking aaaaaaaall the way on bosses. Boring.

You must have a really fancy 4 key. :P

What’s wrong with quickly tagging a boss with CnD?

I see no point in playing Pistol as a melee style. I’d rather do backstabs or tactical strikes with CnD and a melee mainhand (melees do like 30-40% more damage but have higher risk).
The ranged options with a mainhand pistol are crap now in dungeons since unload sucks and dancing daggers does now, too. The best option is to just stand there and autoattack. Boring.

Not sure how you have init to dump in PvE. I would think your rotation would keep your init empty. If not, maybe swap some traits around so you don’t have so much surplus init.

What rotation? Body shot is useless vs golden mobs. Shadow Shot is usable only once then you’re outta range. Cloak n Dagger is melee range.

The ONLY skill you could dump ini on as a P/D ranged thief was Dancing Dagger.
Now it’s autoattacking aaaaaaaall the way on bosses. Boring.

I really enjoyed playing Pistol/Dagger in Dungeons, but you guys ruined it with your massive kneejerk Dancing Dagger nerf. I have no initiative dump skill anymore now.
Yeah yeah, I already hear you saying “Bodyshot”….oh, that thing that lasts a whopping 3 seconds on golden mobs and does LESS damage than a normal shot? No thanks.

Meanwhile, P/P unload and S/P pistol whip still suck in PvE. Way to miss the target by miles :-|

I really don’t care about sPvP, it can do tiny damage there cause it’s for the cripple, but for S/D and P/D users it was the only source of high ranged damage in dungeons, and you ruined that.

Lets Fix Venom skills together and make them fun!

The problem is more like that 3 of the poisons are utter crap.

Basilisk Venom -> Cast time
Ice Drake Venom -> needs to be 2 sec
Skale -> completely useless, 3% more damage, for only 5 seconds to boot, woot….and if youre poison specced you can easily get weakness from other sources.
Spider -> only poison, no other effect, daggers already have this spammable, short bows (that every thief uses) have this spammable.

That only leaves devourer venom as the only good poison.
Also the “lasts for one more strike” trait needs to go, it’s too hard to balance with that existing.

Uhhh what.

Thieves have always been about:
-High criticals
-Stealing items
-Medium health, Medium-Light protection
-Poisons
-Stealth (more recent concept)
since the dawn of videogaming. Stealth is the newest of those concepts and criticals the 2nd oldest after stealing.
The only thing actually straying from the thief archetype is the use of noisy pistols. Thieves have traditionally used daggers, swords and rarely shortbows throughout vidya game history.

I did it after 40 minutes of cussing to myself haha. Great fun, challenging and not impossible.
Although I play human, not charr or norn, that would’ve been frustrating.

So it’s 4:20a.m. – I walk around in search of Candy Veins, come across 2 ranger bots, report them, walk on………and come across this.

This is sad. It’s too many to click and report even. They were running back and forth and back and forth in a 10m radius, like ants.

Please ban all of those botters. And implement something that recognizes scripted, repeating actions in the future.

Quickness is essential to this game’s survival as an esport.

GW2 needs MORE cooldowns like quickness, not less.

Cooldowns that force a reaction or punish a mistake are CRUCIAL for a competitive video game. Players must have tools that they can use to punish sloppy or slow enemy players.

Reaction time, APM, and decision making under pressure are 3 skills that quickness rewards, and slow/bunker play does not. Those are the types of skills that you MUST reward if you want to create a successful esport.

You cannot balance for 3% of your playerbase when the mechanics ruin the game for the other 97% of players, this is fact. No successful game does this. The casuals can’t survive without the professionals, but the reverse is also true, the professionals can’t survive without the casuals.

Exactly. Slow, weak and boring. If they at least removed the slowness…it feel soooooooo awkward, it does less damage than a basic shot AND is slower to boot. Feels bad man.

I totally agree. PtD needs a 25 sec cooldown to be viable. Currently, my thief’s standard heal skill provides MORE healing AND stealth on the same CD. For me to even consider it, it would need 25 sec CD.

No one should be able to do the kind of damage pulled of by burst builds. And Thieves are on the high-end of the spectrum, even if Stealth worked the way it should without the rendering bug it would still be a retarted mechanic.

A Warrior comming at you with bullcharge + 100b can be spotted a mile away, and dodged. A Thief on the other hand, can get in your neck instantly and invisibly, you dont know that he’s there untill after he started unloading his burst. There is no question which of these is worst.

But again, i think burst builds in general need to a hefty nerfhammer. Starting with Quickness which is just a completely ludicrous ability. Really?! You’re going to give someone +100% dps!? Maybe if people died after an extented fight, maybe. But even without Quickness people can already be dropped pretty fast.

Hey, let’s just ignore the fact that this “dodgable” 100b warrior has heavy armor and 24h health with an offense spec, whereas the thief has only 14k. Also that a thief can most likely only land a single backstab if you dodge backwards.
Sounds legit.

The only thing I agree is quickness NEEDS to be nerfed. They nerfed pistol whip to a point where it’s now worse than sword auto-attacks. When PW was in fact not the freakin problem, quickness is. Quickness makes viable skills imbalanced, and a 100% DPS increase is beyond crazy.

Please. Remove the horrible aftercast-delay. You attack slower with body shot than with autoattacks. Please, fix it. The ability is currently useless because of the aftercast.

Thieves.

The fact they can hit you for insane amounts and you don’t even see them because they haven’t rendered (I have lovely fraps footage of being killed by a thief, they don’t render until I’m at about 10% health) and that they can stomp whilst stealthed which means it has NO counter. Needs nerfing.

OR they could just prioritize sending other packets first. Namely: What sort of armor and weapon the enemy wears. Nothing else.
Then, after every enemy is loaded, load dyes and emblems. Yeah, everyone would wear a gray armor until loaded, but at least you could see them. And once the battle is going on, their armor would become colored.

This plus the nameplates thing ought to fix the issue. Not seeing players is BAD and it feels bad.

Make Mist Form invulnerable to fall damage (and condition damage).

Giving Eles the trait would be fine too, but something needs to be done about the current situation, Ele is the only one disadvantaged when it comes to WvW, general PvE and jumping puzzles.

Mist Form is currently nigh useless.

a) Endure Pain has almost twice the duration for only 15 sec more CD.
b) Endure Pain allows full attacking and use of skills!!!
c) Ele is the ONLY class that does not have a -50% fall damage trait – therefore they NEED Mist Form to survive one deep fall in WvW or they are extremely disadvantaged! (jumping down those cliffs in borderlands)

So if I understand this correctly, the TL;DR is:
“Whenever you swap your weapon or an attunement, you get a 15 second cooldown on weapon swapping” right?

I think it’s a great idea but needs one more restriction:
Shorten the weapon lockout on attunement-switch to 5 seconds, but swapping your weapon should both incur the weapon switch cooldown and a 15 second cooldown on the 3 attunements that you aren’t attuned to.

All ready – switch attunement – 5 sec cd on weaponswap – wait – switch weapon – 15 sec cd on all attunements.

That’s major decision-making in combat right there. “Do I use a 2nd set of spells from my preferred element at the cost of not being able to access the others for a while?”

Order of Whispers armor is great. But unfortunately the medium armor has these silly yellow spots on every armor part that cannot be dyed.
The bottom of the mantle for the coat part, parts of the boots, those 2 yellow diamonds on the pants, etc.

Please make those dyeable. Otherwise I can’t buy them – being all black with these yellow spots looks silly.

Make teleportation to main cities free.

Remove it. It is not and will not ever be balanced, frankly. 90% of the complaints about burst damage are directly related to haste. Dying in 1-2s in an MMO has kitten people off since the dawn of the Internet. Don’t try to incorporate it into yet another game. You’ll never balance it and never justify it.

If something is balanced and increased by 100% its vastly overpowered. If something is fine while increased by 100% its vastly underpowered when not increased.
Its that simple. Quickness is bad.

Quickness is obviously a bad mechanism. What is amazing is that it made it this far. A 100% damage increase from one ability is never going to be good for balance.

You 3 took the words right out of my mouth.
I fully support the quickness nerf as a Thief player. Quickness is ridiculous numbers-wise. It should be more like a 33% or 50% speed increase with 150% of the current durations (6ish seconds)

The current form of Quickness is a mechanic that makes any effective balancing “around it” impossible.
The current quickness is too EXTREME. Extreme upsides for short durations and long cooldowns. It’s an “I-win button”.

How much longer will ANet take to finally realize this?

All I want is an option that my camera doesn’t change when I go down. The extremely zoomed-in view makes me nauseous to the bone.
Also when I use my 3-skill, it resets my camera (WHY!? Just why.) to behind my character for no apparent reason, even with the “auto follow char” cam option turned off. This in turn makes me unable to use my 2 skill (thief escape) because I have to rotate the camera again and then search for the spot I wanted to port to again, and then fiddle with the distance because the camera is SO CLOSE to the ground – and by that time, my 3-skill will already have worn off. In both PvP and PvE this has caused me COUNTLESS unnecessary, preventable deaths.

Down-camera is frustrating beyond belief. Give me an option to turn this off. Please. I beg you.

Most players have already criticized the lack of variety in medium armors. Everything is a trenchcoat or skirt-type.
Fortunately, leather armor also has the single skimpiest armor combo in the game available at 80……….

BTW, if you have long loading times like me (my hard drives are old), running north, jumping off the bridge and swimming close enough to the portals will skip the loading screen for the portal waypoint (because you’re already there, just down in the water), saving you a couple seconds.

Its not gonna happen though. If they did do this.. they’d be losing a gold sink which they desperately seem to need.

There’s no gold sink going on, as Truga said, all it does it add more loading screens, not money costs. And porting to and in towns should be free anyways. I imagine that Rata Sum for example would become a lot more populated after this change.

Not going too far by any stretch of the imagination. The Go Home button is utterly flawed because if you want to visit a town that doesn’t belong to your race, you still have to go through 4+ loading screens. For no reason at all and no benefit at all.
I want to stress how utterly pointless the current system is. Traveling origin – Mists – LA south – LA portals – destination -> could be shortened to Origin – Destination while benefiting every player and ArenaNet at the same time.

a) This LESSENS the load on your servers. (less superfluous data being sent back and forth)
b) This LESSENS the strain on players’ nerves by not having to go through 4-6 loading screens.
c) This LESSENS the load on the Lion’s Arch overflow shard, maybe even eliminates the need for it.
d) This ELIMINATES the load caused by travelers in the Heart of the Mists.
d) This IMPROVES population in all the other major towns while disburdening LA.

I literally cannot see a single downside to making ports to any major city cost 0 copper. Trading via a town-channel doesn’t really exist, the Trading Post handles that.
We don’t need ONE overpopulated town and the rest being ghost towns. We don’t need a hundred clumsy loading screens that strain both the servers and our computers’ HDDs. Traveling to any town is already free – as it should be – by taking a longer, loading screen-filled route.

Make traveling costs TO any major town 0 copper. Please, ArenaNet.
