Used thief and scrapper (about 5 times when i had another thief on team) so proud of myself Q_Q was so hard to get up here on thief, especially since i only soloq xD

I think HoT kinda made it where you have to play DD, if you don’t have the new dodges you lack a lot of utility. Honestly feels a lot less skill based

For trait mods, we’d like to experiment with Weakening Strikes slightly, adding a secondary to it within its role of debilitation. Options we’re looking at it:
- Inflict X (torment, bleeding, something) when you weaken a foe.
or- Receive less damage from weakened foes.

This is just a thought if you are looking for a way to make thieves more survivable i believe this could help
Weakening Strike Leach life from weakened foes or could give regeneration 5 or 6 seconds.
Not only does this give some survival to the thief by providing sustain instead of redundant damage mitigation which weakness already provides, but could be a small buff to damage as well if it was leaching. If you did choose leaching it could function as Sigil of Leaching or Sigil of Blood instead of percentage such as Invigorating Percision that way condition and power builds benefit in the same way. So it would basicly similar to both options you proposed, damage and sustain instead of damage or sustain
Bandits Defense
I mentioned this in another forum page, could we also make the knock back an option? Sometimes thieves wants to stay on the defensive and not be thrown back into offensive.

PvP is about running the most optimal build at the time of the meta, at least from what i have understood. If you run standard DA/TR/SA D/P i see no problem with thief in pvp, it has great survival and damage. Honestly i don’t see what more people could ask for in this weapon set.
If your complaining about lack of build diversity thats pretty much every class out there in pvp. This becomes about thief builds which aren’t stealth reliant being weak, not the class in general. I main S/P in wvw because i enjoy it and in pvp you will find me running the optimal build D/P.
I agree with most of what renncl and beyond b have said, please stop confusing the class as weak, but blame the real culprit lack of build diversity.

Besides making Bandits Defense 2seconds long could we by any chance make it where its a option if you want to use the knock back or not? Theres times where i just want the block not to be flinged back toward my opponent who might be bursting me
If it crit you would be hitting people for 6-8k, we’d be insta gibbing squichies left and right i believe this is the reason anet took the ability to crit away from mug
it was hitting a zerk mesmer for 3k-3.9k depending if they had protection or not… its not weak, its dmg is more then fair imo

I’ve mained S/P for 2 years so i was pretty ecstatic with some of these traits XD Impacting Distruption was easily my favorite trait, it synergized very well with my build but in 1vx or group fights its very hard to try to time interrupts since so many things are going on or people targeting you. S/P new meta! Jk just my meta <3
This is my opinion on the weapon sets d/p and s/p
D/P is more versatile of the 2 weapon sets, what keeps it on top of the meta. It has great dmg with back stab and its dmg mitigation lies in blinds and easy access to stealth. The easy access to stealth is what gives it a huge edge to S/P imo, it gives the thief a few moments to breath and reset the fight if the thief chooses while staying in combat.
S/P has greater cleave and utility, what has kept it out of the meta is its poor sustainability. Its lack of stealth forces the player to play aggressive and try to end the fight before its drawn out.
I am probably Biased toward s/p since it is my main build for WvW but i feel its more rewarding then when i play d/p in pvp.
Oh and as for the 3333 comments the only thief weapon set that i haven’t seen spam 3 is D/D :p so i don’t think anyone else has much room to talk
did you see the stream? it deals a bit over 2k dmg… seriously? that’s is the MASSIVE amount of dmg stated in the tooltip?
something that is so hard to set up and proc deals such irrelevant dmg?
the utility is a block/knockback on a 10 second cd… thats pretty amzing imo the dmg is just a bonus, and for a trait to do 2k dmg with marauder amulet non crit thats amazing lol thief has plenty of interrupts available with pistol offhand hence why Perplexity runes were so broken for a while

i’ve mained s/p for a quite a while now and while i do think this buff will greatly help and bring more players to the weapon set i don’t see it surpassing d/p and s/d meta wise. The survival on this build is easily countered by range play so in 1v2s your usually at a huge disadvantage if anyone is ranging. honestly d/p will be able to proc the around the same amount of pulmonary impact as a s/p build

Honestly i feel like the new specialization will be giving thief the rifle they wanted and probably base off all the traits by giving us more range which is probably where they moved the SB trait maybe
Well it all depends on what your play style is man, i tend to be aggressive and impatient so the longer the fight the more sloppy i get. If your cool headed and patient then acro can work for you. Although if you do stay acro S/P give 5/0/0/3/6 a try as well, the dmg is increased a bit more and i find Improve gives me more then the other 2 traits in acro.
This is my personal preference and opinion in case someone gets offended :p
I roam with s/p in wvw and from my experience acro isn’t very well suited for it, sure you’ll survive a lot more but the burst won’t be there
I use 2 current builds when roaming in wvw either 6/2/0/0/6 PS or 2/6/0/0/6 you can take either executioner or Invigorating precision depending on what you want (tend to take invigorating when solo roaming though)
I don’t recommend it in pvp though, while it does have quite a bit of utility it is hindered by the +1 initiate cost they added to it, which really adds up.

hi guys, I’ve finally leveled my thief to 80 and I was looking in what armor and runes to buy. I want to run 2/6/0/0/6 with the enhanced steal and executioner trait, in wvw.
On my weapons I want the on crit effect of fire & air.
I’ve looked into sigil’s and it seemed like Superior sigil of the Pack, would fit. maybe any other suggestions?
Regarding the armor, I cannot decide wether to go with the beserker (power, precision/ferocity) or with the assasin (precision, power/ferocity). Does the extra precision synergise well enough with the fireblast and lightning strike to make up for the lost power? What do you recommend?

2/6/0/06 isn’t meta in wvw i think, very popular in pvp though, 2/0/6/0/6 is the most common wvw spec right now (condi or power)

Been getting called a perma stealth kitten a lot lately… i’m using s/p
2 conditions on dodge is OP. It is more reasonable to drop it to Adept Tier and remove 1 condition on dodge with 10sec CD.
I wouldn’t mind it being moved up to Grandmaster Tier, i do agree that it being a Master trait would be over the top, but it having a chance to remove any condition would be a good buff to thieves who don’t trait into SA for condition removal
Just seems to me like these traits are mediocre, i have yet to see a build who uses this trait on thief (i don’t play ele or ranger so can’t say if these traits are used)
I don’t post much on the forums, but i noticed the other day warriors getting a change called ‘Brawler’s Recovery’ which now removes a single condition on weapon swap rather than just blind(5 sec cool down). I’d like to discuss if a similar change could occur to Fleet of Foot which removes Cripple and Weakness on dodge (10 sec cool down)
It would be a simple change and promote more people to experiment and use this trait. At the moment it is very lacking and situation. Instead of it just removing Cripple or Weakness we could have it remove any other condition as long as it is two at a time with the cool down remaining as it is.
Please discuss this in a manner that won’t get this thread over looked by the dev’s or closed <3
The trait line usually reserved for stealthless builds gets a GM trait that requires stealth.
Anet is straight-up trolling at this point.

I think its such bull that FC and DH are tanking. NSP is one of the most skilled player groups i’ve had the pleasure of fighting, imo you guys should tank and let these two servers get what they deserve.
I’ve played Amons build and D/P, from what i’ve learned D/P is easier simply cause of its ability to reset from any mistake committed. D/P in general should not lose to any x/D thief unless said thief is perplex condi (ewwwww).
I’ve fought Snuffles a few times with d/d and only way he really won was by out sustaining me and resetting fight. I used D/P vs him and it became a draw. This was when he was still in DH though he could of gotten a lot better.
We’ve already accepted the 5v5.
