The change to long queue times went out last night, so this is the result of that. The search range is clearly expanding too much, so we’ll reconfigure it to be a tighter search again.

We’re sorry to hear you had a bad experience. You are automatically leveled up to 80, and the level up rewards that appear are just a byproduct of this- you do not actually have to open each chest.

Hi, everybody!
Thank you in advance for your participation in this exciting WvW event.
As a reminder, the client is available to download now, but you will not have access to login until July 9th at 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time (UTC-7).
Welcome to the Jungle Desert!!!
Please try queuing again. It should be fixed now.
The Champion achievements are progressed by participating in rated matches. Ranked and Unranked are both rated matches, just like solo and team arenas were. This is by design.
Thanks for the reports, everyone.
We’re aware of the issue and are currently working on a solution. Your patience is appreciated, and we’ll hopefully have another update for you soon.
Just wanted to pop in and say thanks again to vE for taking me under their wing. It’s been a challenge syncing up, given that I am at work during their prime hours, but I’ve really enjoyed what time I have been able to spend with them. So far it’s been non-stop action, with incredible organization and intensely gratifying fights. These epic battles are truly my favorite part of WvW.
Looking forward to the weekend, when I can really throw down!
We will be removing the timer after death before killed players are worth XP in WvW.
is that only for xp or also for loot?
If a player is worth XP, they will also be worth loot. This also affects rallying, sigil stacks, on-kill procs, etc.
We will be removing the timer after death before killed players are worth XP in WvW.
What is the reason for that mechanic?
The purpose of this mechanic has always been to mitigate spawn camping, kill trading, and as an added benefit, it also discourages botting.
The threshold of time before a player is worth WXP (and now also XP/Loot) has not changed, and is low enough that it is almost always the case that a player’s death will award WXP and loot in the time it takes for them to run from a portal keep to a nearby objective.
I agree that there could be better visibility on this, and I will bring that feedback to the team discussion, as well.
It has been the case for a while now that players who very recently respawned are not worth any WXP. To bring other systems in-line with this, players who are not worth any WXP are now also not worth any loot or XP. We are aware that this also affects sigil stacks, and are evaluating whether we want to treat the stacks the same way: only when a player is worth WXP/XP and loot, can stacks be gained from killing them.
As an update- we’ve resolved the issue with the Golems doing massive damage to gates in today’s patch, and we’ve got a fix for the damage multiplier issue (affecting players) going out on Monday.
Basically removing the achievement requirement during a tournament is an experimental step we took to reduce the incentive for achievement grinding. We want people to play WvW, and not focus too heavily on satisfying achievement requirements.
If we find that players prefer having numerous things to check off a list, then we would certainly take that feedback into account and consider it for future tournaments.
Hey everyone!
Thank you all for stepping up to volunteer for this program. I am pleased to announce that I have been taken in by an EU guild on Kodash. I’m excited to embark on my new WvW journey, and experiencing the Fall Tournament in my new home, with Visceral Effect.
I’d like to give a big thanks to the vE guild for adopting me. I’m thrilled to have an opportunity to participate in the tournament from an EU guild’s perspective. I will miss my guilds on NSP (and I’ll try to hop back over from time to time to say hello while EU is sleeping), but I very much look forward to the feedback and experiences we will all share through this initiative. Together, we’ll make a better WvW!
Much wuv,

Dat ram… I can’t even be mad about it.
Thanks for the report. We’re investigating this now.
Thanks for the report! We’ve identified the issue and are working on a fix.
We feel it’s important to offer players the chance to adjust their world ability point selections at the start of a tournament, but I understand how it can be tedious to have to spend those points again across all characters. Being able to reallocate points at any time, in a manner similar to our trait system, is feedback that I will definitely bring to the team, for future consideration.
Thanks!
With the release of Feature Pack 2 on September 9th, WvW players who reach rank 10,000 will be able to continue earning WXP and rank-up chests.
Traditionally WXP points have always been reset with the start of a new tournament. I don’t think this will be any different this time around.
Aye. World Ability Points will be reset at the start of the Fall Tournament.
Will we be split in half (meaning top 12 and bottom 12) or will there be the usual 6/9/9 split?
The announcement suggests that there will be places 1-12, implying that there will be 12 servers per “league,” which is more consistent with the Swiss-style tournament model.
I know I am not the only one looking for an official answer to this question.
The league structure from the past 2 tournaments will remain for EU and NA.
• EU has 3 leagues, 9 teams each.
• NA has 3 leagues; gold contains 6 teams, silver and bronze each have 9.
The Fall Tournament announcement references places 1-12 to account for the introduction of WvW tournaments in China, which will have a slightly different league structure.
WvW Tournament tickets do not expire. You can combine tickets earned in the upcoming fall tournament with tickets saved from past tournaments.
Good news, everyone!
With the release of Feature Pack 2 on September 9th, players who had earned the WvW Season 1 Meta achievement and had not yet received their Season 1 rewards will be able to speak to the Battle Historian in any World vs. World map to collect what is owed to them.
Apologies for the delay, and many thanks for your patience. <3
Cheers!
Here’s exactly how Association worked for this latest tournament, and why it can have the effects some of you are seeing .
For WvW Spring Tournament 2014, this is how Association scoring worked:
- Load into a WvW map for the first time that day: Gain 1 Association score for your current home world.
- Complete any achievement that contributes to the WvW Spring Tournament 2014 meta achievement: Gain 2 Association score for your current home world.
Your main Associated shard is then the one with the highest score within the current datacenter. That last part is the caveat that’s preventing some tournament rewards from being issued. Or in some cases “wrong” rewards (working as intended, but not desired, and certainly not clear). In other cases, if a player transferred mid-tournament and has Associations in both datacenters, their rewards will be bound to the most-Associated shard within the datacenter when they talk to the Battle Historian to get the new tournament tickets. This is the intended behavior for this tournament, but has been confounded by issues with Association getting locked-in prematurely.
Some rewards were incorrectly granted too early. When rewards are given, your most-associated world is locked-in at that moment. This applies even if you change datacenters. Your Association scores can still change, but your one true Association for that tournament is still the one from which you received rewards. With the fix that went out on June 17th, that lock was reset, resetting your most-Associated world to whichever one has the highest score in your current datacenter, until talking to the Historian and getting the rewards locks/locked it in again.
If you are in this situation, please submit a ticket to Customer Support. They will assist you in transferring to collect your Tournament rewards.
Thank you.
You should be able to transfer back to a NA server and speak to the Battle Historian there to retrieve your rewards.
Thank you for the update however this does not address the issue of players who have obtained the wrong place achievement. Am I correct?
Rewards will be redistributed based on the final standings at the conclusion of the Tournament. Your placement will be corrected, as defined by your World Association.
Hi all,
We understand the frustration over having to wait to receive your rewards, and we appreciate your patience. The issue was very complex, and we needed to take the appropriate amount of time to sort it all out, and ensure a proper solution. We anticipate being able to provide another update with an ETA for the fix, soon.
Thank you.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We’re working on a fix.
We have identified the issue and are working on a solution to distribute the proper tournament chests to all who should have earned them. We appreciate your patience while we work to resolve this.
Thank you.
This was an intended change, but was mistakenly left out of the release notes.
The Tournament Rewards will be available on the Battle Historian NPC, located in all of the portal keeps, as of June 3rd.
If you purchase the Mistforged version, you will also unlock the Hero’s version.
Mistforged Hero’s weapons can either be purchased directly for tournament tickets or crafted in the Mystic Forge with:
- 1 Hero’s Weapon (100 tournament tickets)
- 1 Gift of Heroes (200 tournament tickets)
- 4 Bottles of Elonian Wine
- 10 Piles of Crystalline Dust
To clarify, we had planned for the cost of Gift of Heroes to be a combination of tickets and badges, but the item will now only cost tickets. Tournament tickets will not expire.
The Hero’s and Mistforged Hero’s Weapons will be Rare and Exotic, respectively, and will have a variety of stat combinations to select from. You could also just use them as skins if there is another weapon you prefer to rock (ya know, for stats n’ stuff).
If two worlds tie, both will receive the better reward.
For example, if there are two worlds tied for 1st place, both will receive 1st place rewards. Then the next world would receive 3rd place, and so on.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. There does, indeed, appear to be an issue with the Applied Fortitude Buff and Scaling. We’re investigating.
Thanks for this well thought out post!
It is our goal to ensure that WvW matchups are not only competitive, but also engaging and fun. Variety is essential.
Constructive criticism like this helps us to improve, and we look forward to bringing you the best possible version of WvW Tournaments in the future.
