[Sorry had to cut down title, too long: GoT = Glory of Tyria]

I’m surprised I haven’t seen this thought anywhere yet – But I believe that Zojja, Logan and Eir will be alright miraculously. But I think Trahearne (being a sylvari) will have gotten corrupted by Mordre and may ironically become the anti-hero in the expansion (he did dissapear in the cut scenes shortly after the sylvari started turning), dramatically leading a corrupted sylvari army against us (for added effect let’s say he will amass an army from Malyck's tree!).

Mine will be a male charr: because charr are my second favourite race as opposed to sylvari (which I have four of lol, and one of everything else). My one other charr is an engi and I love heavy armour on charr, so that’s another reason. But it won’t be a Rytlock copy, I want it to look like a snow leopard! My engi is a bengal tiger

Spoilers for The Dragons Reach Pt. 2 below!

I think I should bring back this thread in regards to what happened at the Summit meeting instance.

At the beginning, you see and can talk to Caithe after her very long & quiet absence.

After the meeting gets sabotaged by Mordremoth… She is absolutely nowhere to be seen. Which is odd considering she is probably one of the most loyal sylvari to her mother (as far as we know).

Later when you talk to Trahearne, he suggests the possibility that someone may have ‘lured’ the dragon to the meeting, because it was just so well timed. Could this have been her secret..? Or a small part of what’s to come?

Then why don’t we see them fighting each other?

If my hypothesis is correct, we see them “fight each other” in that they don’t allow their opposite dragon to over-feed on magic . Fighting is not always physical!

How does he represent prosperity? I don’t see it. And even though he is underground now, we don’t see him use earth magic. So does he really represent earth?

I didn’t quite mean prosperity (sorry it was almost 4am for me!), but when you think of flowers, they eventually bloom and it is quite a beautiful/intriguing thing. When you look at Mordremoth’s corrupted wolves for example, they are a blooming flower, basically. In that is a somewhat (very) dark beauty, no?

Also, in the CoE dungeon, the first glimpse of Mordremoth we saw was an earth skill called Teeth of Mordremoth – from Subject 6 (which we know represented each dragon). That is why he may be earth related. That and, well, plants need to be grounded to survive!

Lava can turn into crystallized rock.

Can being the key word, still represents it! Also sAdam’s idea would work well here too (Chaos/Entropy).

While I can understand the premise here, I must pose one important question: How do we know Zhaitan’s dead?

Well this theory (if correct) can tell is 1 of 2 things. Either he is in fact dead, which is why Mordremoth’s orb gained so much power over the vision (and Zhaitan’s orb was there to show he played a part in the Eternal Alchemy, rather large one) – Or he is in such an immensely weakened state that he cannot do anything about Mordremoth’s growth. Also this is why he would have been so easy to take down in the personal story, he was still being counterbalanced on top of everything else we did to him. He got too kitteny by coming out first.

I agree Malafide, but if you look at the bare traits of Mordremoth’s element, nature/earth is fundamentally growth and prosperity. I guess in Mordremoth’s own way he gives his minions those traits in corrupting them. New life, new orders under his command (for destruction, not as destruction), and they are given the structures of plants (which grow and thrive). So in his own way it works.
In terms of Primordus, look at it as if he is molten – When molten lava cools it turns into various minerals (Kralkatorrik) dependent on the environment. And vice versa.

It is very true when you look at the bare bones that the elder dragons are definitely all forces of destruction, but if you look deeper and take in the core traits of their actual elements they live on, corrupt with and are even made of – you can see how they do counter each other in these senses. For example, if two humans are attacking each other – one with a flamethrower, the other with a pressure hose – Of course they are both looking to destroy each other (and they are both humans)! But it’s how they do it, and what counters that other person’s tactics you need to really look at.

I was watching the Wooden Potatoes video just now about this subject, and when he was playing the scene with the orbs over and over in slow motion, I realized something:

Each orb that was opposite to the other was basically a ‘counter-balance’.

For example (if we are talking about dragons [could be magic types associated with them as well]):
-Bubbles (water, flowing) was opposite to Jormag (ice, solid).
-Mordremoth (life, growth) was opposite to Zhaitan (death, decay).
-Primordus (molten, bright/heat) was opposite to Kralkatorrik (minerals, dark/cool).
Maybe having 6 dragons & their elements was purposeful.

A small detail I may add is that each time an orb lights up, there was a (magic-representing?) line that flashed from it to the center, and when the orb opposite lit up another line went from it to the center creating a joined line, possibly intentionally showing a connection.

Best part? This hypothesis would get rid of the issue of Zhaitan’s death ‘not influencing the cinematic’ because of the following: perhaps the entire orb scene is showing that, since Zhaitan died, Mordremoth has no counter-balance/element/magic to keep him from over feeding on magic – therefore he is gaining much more power than Zhaitan had ever gained (or any other dragon currently), since he -was- being counterbalanced himself by Mordremoth. Maybe this is where the scene shows the effect of Zhaitan being dead, hence the fact why Mordremoth’s orb takes the center stage and infects the whole system quickly, over all the other orbs (and Tyria if that’s what you think the center represents).

Caithe's Secret?

in Lore

Posted by: Johnny Boi.4980

Johnny Boi.4980

The Caithe on the Zeph. ship is a good hypothesis, but the new Twilight Arbor path had been released quite a while before the Zephyrite crash. And Scarlet seems to be talking in past tense when she tells Caithe she knows what she “did”. Doesn’t this pose an issue?

Also Shiren your first idea about her possibly killing Malyck is actually a really good theory, never thought of that!

On the part of wanting to kill Snaff or Glint, I don’t think she did that. I agree with Shiren that I don’t really see a motive. Besides, she is the only one that wanted the team to get back together in the game, and she stuck to it. She may have acted a bit careless (? can’t find the right word, she didn’t give much thought to what had just happened) at the end of the book after what happened to Snaff, saying they need to keep going, but that is just who she generally is. On point, resilient and driven. Cappi’s point would be the only one I could see happening with this aspect of the story.

Honestly I think her secret is either about Malyck, or something related to the Nightmare Court.

Caithe's Secret?

in Lore

Johnny Boi.4980

Intrigued by the living story currently, I decided to go through the Wiki and look at all past Scarlet-related events to see things we may not know, and looking at the Aetherpath for Twilight Arbor, it is very obvious Caithe has a -large- secret that we don’t know about, and that Caithe doesn’t want the world to know about either.

Dialogue from the dungeon:

-
Caithe: “I met Scarlet in the Grove, before she went on her academic pilgrimage. I was not overly impressed.”
Caithe: “Now she’s sent me a direct challenge. She claims to know things…things I wouldn’t want the world to know.” *
Caithe: "It doesn’t matter what she has on me, or thinks she has. I just want to find out how she’s acquiring these “secrets.”"
——
Scarlet Briar Hologram: “Ooh, is that Caithe sneaking around my facility? It must be—no one else could have gotten this far before being detected.”
Scarlet Briar Hologram: “You got my invitation! I was afraid you’d be all aloof and distant. You know, like you want people to think you are.”
Scarlet Briar Hologram: “But I know better. I know you. How nasty you fight, how you think…what you did. And what you did is soooo nasty.”
——
Scarlet Briar Hologram: “Ooh, and I just realized: I know something about you even Faolain doesn’t know.” *
Scarlet Briar Hologram: "Does that mean we’re dating? Should I start calling you “dearheart?”"
——
Scarlet Briar: “I’ll give the Nightmare Court your regards, Caithe. And won’t they love to hear about your little indiscretion?”
Scarlet Briar: “I knew you’d want to see the heart of my new facility, Caithe. So tell me: how do you like it?”
Scarlet Briar: “What do you think the Pale tree will say when she finds out what you did? Or does she already know?” *
——
Scarlet Briar: “I know a secret, I know a secret… Caithe’s secret, in fact. And soon, so will everybody else.”
Scarlet Briar: “Such lovely, juicy secrets, Caithe. It’s just not fair to keep them all to yourself.”
——
Scarlet Briar Hologram: “You found me? Good for you, Caithe! Not that it’ll do you any good. My secrets are still safe. Yours, however…”
-

On top of all that, it says this again on Caithe’s wiki page directly: "Caithe was invited to the Twilight Arbor by Scarlet Briar, who had struck up an alliance with the Nightmare Court. Scarlet claimed to have learned of some “nasty” indiscretion of Caithe’s that not even Faolain knew about, and threatened to reveal it to the world."

-
From the sounds of it, perhaps the Pale Tree may know as well (since her & Caithe are close), and she just might be keeping it from us too. Caithe may have delved too deep into something – being herself – and discovered a truth quite dire or life-changing. She may be keeping it from us for the better, or the worse. But I have a feeling it will be revealed soon seeing as we are probably going to speak to the Pale Tree herself (and may see Caithe) next LS update.

Does anyone have any ideas what this “secret” may be (based on -everything- else that is currently going on)? What is so important about it & how will it change things?

Johnny Boi.4980

As a reader of the book (Edge of Destiny) and an avid player of the game, I really miss Destiny’s Edge.

Each member felt like an actual companion, and they all had very interesting backgrounds. I also loved the way certain members would interact together, and their story as a whole of being broken and returning as one again. But what bothers me is that right after you bring them back together & all is well, you haven’t seen them for 2 years + ( if you started near release ). I -hope- that since, when you finish your personal story, they talk about the other elder dragons, that perhaps they will make a return ( along with the pact, it would be nice to see some characters we evolved with from our selected order, because that would be awesome to expand upon as well. I want to feel more in-touch with the order I chose, get deeper into its background, get more involved – especially being such a high rank in it ) to aid us in the future, but I am not sure since we have a ‘new destiny’s edge’ feeling group in the living story ( which I /personally/ prefer much less than the original group :c ). I’d like to add that I also felt like a much more important part of the original group, and that I was contributing a lot and interacting with everyone, which was really nice – With the new group, I feel like I’ve been kicked to the sidelines and am here just to watch the ride rather than get on the ride with everyone else. I feel that if we are done with the original Destiny’s Edge, that the ending for them would be -way- too premature. Especially since it felt like we were just getting to the juicy part ( of not only the whole GW2 story, but also each members’ personal story and how they’ve evolved through time with you )! So, where do you stand on this?

I don’t understand the mentality of people wanting to turn this game into another WoW clone.

If GW2 is “so bad” and “WoW’s endgame is very much so superior to GW2’s”, what are you even doing here? Play WoW or the numerous WoW clones. Its like not liking a orange for not being more like apple… If you want an apple, dont eat an orange.

This game was specifically advertised to deliver something other than the WoW clone box “have nothing new for months and years on end” expansions. Believe it or not there are a majority of players that do not come to these forums that may enjoy GW2 for it has promised to deliver, something different then the close minded reskined holy trinity.

There are plenty of holy trinity games out there for you. Not so many games that can offer the experience GW2 offers for many players. Say no to WoW cloning.

I really /love/ this idea, but agree with BrotherBelial that it should be regularly individual. BUT I think you should still have the option to possibly invite large groups over to perhaps make it a part-time meeting hall or party-place or whatnot. And hopefully it could include great perks like a personal crafting hall, TP, bank, multiple merchant types or a mystic forge!

Also, maybe it could be a place to show what your character has done and who they are to show off (which the personal home instance sadly kind of failed to do). Maybe an achievement trophy room. Maybe various old artifacts you found scattered around Tyria could be used to decorate. Maybe trophies from hard bosses you killed could be hung on walls. Or perhaps you could even do things like allow refugees from the streets in and dedicate a housing place to them on the island, or maybe you’d want to invite a large group of nobles over to live there and keep a sophisticated party going in the main lobby. The possibilities are really endless.

Possibility of a new playable race?

Would just like to throw this old GW2 Tengu concept art in there for you all. They really do have a lot of potential and uniqueness if you put your mind to it. Think of all the species of birds there are, and then add on differences between males and females. Then fine details like colours or plumage thickness or talons/horns – even to beak shapes or really anything.

And even though we don’t see them like this in-game (yet?), it can easily be fixed lore-wise.

Also keep in mind they have an entire chunk of undiscovered (to us) land that would be perfect for a home city, and low level starting areas. As well as some characteristics that other playable races don’t have (but not saying they’re all good!).

As for largos, they too have /a lot/ of potential (maybe even more). Of course they’d all stay slightly similar with traits like blue toned skin or masks, but the same could be said for all the playable races (sylvari all plants, asura all small, charr all furry).

They could make different wing models (I find them more like fins tbh), with different designs. Then different mask options, and of course great hair choices like these pictures show: http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mejnw0TfBa1rtdsh3o1_500.jpg , http://31.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mejnxx7Gyc1rtdsh3o1_500.jpg . Maybe even adding different glow patterns to their skin maybe, similar to sylvari body types customization phase.

Then of course the final touches which add to it, like all the small details since they are humanoid (facial structure, body part sizes, etc.)

Add onto this that they’d sure as heck have amazing looking racial armour (plus awesome racial skills), and a great story line with currently MANY possibilities since their lore is so greatly unknown (but the good things is we do know they have a ‘homeland’ city under the water as well as characteristics unlike any other playable race). This would also be a huge chance to improve upon on underwater game play overall.

-To me, the largos are the best off at becoming a playable race. Then tengu.-

But when it comes to Kodan, though, I agree with Equinox that it would be very hard to do much with differentiating them from other all Kodan characters. I can’t think of more than battle scars, warpaint or bloodstains, really. Which isn’t exactly enough.

Also, adding a home city would be hard as all of the area around there is higher levels, and they already seem to resemble other races personality wise.

Just came up with this idea off the top of my head, but maybe there could be different large instances of the same map (so all of Tyria that we have accessible) and maybe ANet could create 2 or 3 clones of it, in which you can choose which one to enter upon selecting your character. One being pre living story, so for personal story and new players, then one for season 1 where it remains as it did at the end of its LS – and another for season 2 (then 3, 4 and so on)? That way large scale changes could be made to each story map w/o effecting the newer players. As well as players in each season map could potentially re-live iconic parts of that specific living story event, for each of the seasons’ maps. And maybe (or maybe not, depends) there could be restrictions. i.e. Finish personal story before entering season 1 world or whatnot.

Keep in mind veterans could go back in maps to help newer players, or play casually & explore or RP or etc. with friends. Or even just go back to re-live a favourite moment from one of the last seasons.

@Konig

I’d say for Mordremoth: Slightly more than hinted – as Colin specifically called it the ‘Jungle Dragon’, and mentions the Maguuma Jungle itself.

But for Kralkatorrik, that is right. Though the GW2 Wiki does say it ‘still has a presence in the area’. Also stating that it’s now another force preventing all (but the OoW) from getting to Cantha. So I think its probably still in the desert somewhere (whether it be Elona or far south-eastern Tyria)!

Primordus is really an unknown though. I believe around the Deldrimor area though, due to dwarven capitol & relics being quite powerful and magic-filled, there – And maybe even to help its army to finally advance past the stone dwarves, if he is ready to surface (pure speculation there, though)?

As for DSD, true. I don’t expect he will be the easiest dragon to find! Though true, he is most likely in a south-western part of the Unending Ocean as the karka, krait (etc.) how been driven out from those parts.

Lastly, agreed, Jormag is up there somewhere in the northern reaches of the Shiverpeaks!

Elder Dragons Secretly on Map?

I paid very close attention to the map today and looked around, realizing that I saw what seemed like hints of the Elder Dragons’ locations. For all of these screenshots, pay attention to how the quality in those certain areas becomes higher and how there are different aspects to it as from other spots near it (colour difference, dis figuration, etc.).

I will start with the most noticeable ones:

First – Mordremoth (before you look at the screenshot, try to take a good look around the Maguuma Wastes area to see if you spot what I did)
Unedited: http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/3839/yqwz.jpg
Edited: http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/5648/2trb.jpg
Notice how the textures seem to become a higher rez, aswell as that specific areas colour and formation standing out more than anywhere around it? And just the fact that spot seems a lot like a dragons head.

Next, Primordus – Look around the Deldrimor Front area for this one.
Unedited: http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/9314/ayb1.jpg
Edited: http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/3493/fyws.jpg
Now this one isn’t as detailed, in terms of textures, as Mordremoth – But the outline of a dragons head is definitely more prominent & visible here.

Now, Kralkatorrik. This one is definately much harder to see, but look around the Crystal Desert area.
Unedited: http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/4863/wlq2.jpg
Edited: http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/6493/va81.jpg
This one is, as I’ve said, extremely hard to see – But when you look closely, again we have the land colour and deformations that happen to oddly shape half a dragons face. But – It being half in Tyria, half out, may mean that Kral. is perhaps in Elona w/ Palawa Joko or may be even half in Tyria, and half in Elona.

As for Zhaitan, I have not seen him on the map yet (if you do in some way, please post a picture!) But I do see a random doodle which happens to represent a risen, just east of Arah: http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/3046/6hsp.jpg

Also for Jormag, I cannot make out a definitive dragon, but there are a couple potential (but unlikely) candidates. This either means he is farther north than what we see on the map, or I am missing his hidden picture.

Lastly, Bubbles, is neither on the map – as I had expected, though. He is most likely farther out into the unending ocean, perhaps at conflict with the Largos at Tethyos, or some leftover Krait and Quaggan – expanding his army/power/influence.

So, what do you think? All of the visible dragon faces are in the right areas, and happen to pop-out more than other spots in those specific parts of Tyria! If you happen to find hidden meanings on the map, please feel free to post them!

Weapons of choice: Lute (2h), Sword (mh only), Warhorn, Shield, Dagger (mh only) [?] {also the lute would be a new weapon, because with expansions come new wepaons right? :p}
General gist/ miscellaneous: They are magical musicians that use their wonderful music to enhance the abilities of their allies while depriving their enemys’. Thier class specific function would be to pull out a harp (somewhat like a deathshroud form except they are go into a musical state) and F1 – F4 are 4 different strings each with a different sound and when played in a certain order, they can do totally different effects. Example, A, C, D, B would give quickness to allies and stun to foes. Where as B, A, D, C would create a wave of music notes to AoE hit all enemies within a certain radius of you

open to debates on this idea lol

Commending

Hey

So, I realize the fact that the game has reporting. Otherwise acknowledging that a certain person has done so & so wrong (not saying this is a bad thing), but how about beaing able to ‘report’ someone for being helpful or a good person? Basically you’d just rihgt click their name like anything else and click ‘Commend’ and then a window would show up with some different commend options (like for being a good leader, or agood teacher, or being giving person, etc.) and a little box you write why.

And when you open the hero window you see how many of ever commend you have (and so can other people). I just think it’d be a nice little feature to add so new players would be able to see if per say they needed a little lesson on how to do so & so, so they find someone with a higher teacher commendation, and feel nice asking them about that stuff. Like?

My suggestion is that it should just make a little tingle sound while it’s moving, or when a skill is casted. Yup c:

Ok, I JUST got the pact avenger greatsowrd, love it!! Only problem is, the gear on it doesn’t spin!

It shows it does in the preview window, and in the Hero screen.. But it doesn’t in in the world. It’s one of the reasons I got it.. ._.

I’m sure you all know this place: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Wizard%27s_Tower

Awesome, right?!

Well, when I first saw it, after about an hour of trying to find out how to get in it. But I finally found out I couldn’t .. :x

Well while I was trying to find out, I researched it and read about the lore. What interested me is how much could be done with it! Apparently everyone who enters, never comes back. Also, rumors are it was/is a home of various magical tomes and artifacts.

So, maybe for story mode, the owner of the castle actually used every one of the visitors as ‘fuel’ for the sacred artifacts? And for explorer, some major rooms have more magic stored in them than can be handled, and they become living artifacts, and need to be put down or else they will blow up and destrooy Kryta!

That’s just my idea :p But what’s yours? Should this be a dungeon? If so, what would the storyline be?

P.S. I’m not expecting this anytime soon, jsut for future expansions :x

Waypoint Pass?

Weeelll, I just got this idea off the top of my head, so bear with me please!

Waypoint pass.

I was thinking that this would be a great idea.. A waypoint pass! It would be like in real life, getting a bus pass. It’s a special asuran ticket, giving you free waypoint access all across Tyria! You will buy once, either for 1 day (cheapest), a week, or a month (most expensive). I guess from gem shop? Either way, once bought and activated, it will be soul (maybe account) bound, and give you free way point travel for how ever long it lasts.

Constructive criticism welcomed!

P.S. It would be worth it, save you some money, and stop the ongoing arguments about waypoints being too expensive.

Well.. Map completion is an achievement, meaning that your character traveled through ALL parts of Tyria – and the mists. It shows you’ve been every where and everywhere! So I think it should be there, personally.
