Yea, the seasons would be cool. But why change something that is already good?
its called improvement and it can always be done to make a game better.
if you look at improvements from release to now there is basically absolutely nothing done to it and it is basically end game content in a sense.
the other thing with a large open world is while a few people may enjoy senseless running around and spamming out their skills, there are a lot of different players with different playstyles wanting to be able to do something useful in the world in their own way, and catering to as many people as possible should be a priority in a such a large enviroment.
its not just my opinion either is feedback i got from a lot of friends and some other random players when i asked them.
so myself and a group of friends, tried to get back into open world pvp again and heres the problem, im going to sum up the entire system.
attack a castle, defend a castle, attack a castle, defend a castle, omg a yak! escourt the yak, attak a castle, defend a castle….etc…
this is the line i hear the most from people playing the game.
would it be so difficult to add more variety to the game, maybe have tribes on the map that if you are in a area long enough they get angry and attack you, maybe you can give them supplies to get their support in defense or assault.
when a whole map is taken because its the graveyard shift, something should happen!
in the entire time that gw2 has been around now, i find it shocking that virtually nothing has happened in that system.
please lets get some more going.
on another point to add, every kitten world is having the same season! it would go a long way to change up the seasons, maybe 1 of the servers is winter another is spring, summer, autumn, those worlds and there maps need far more love then they currently have.
would love to hear from arenanet as to what there plans are regarding open world and how they think improving it should be done as well as if they have any plans to do it and if they are content with the system as it currently is, is it everything you hoped and dreamed it would be?
So ive come back to the game after a few month break and am disappointed in the lack of variety especially in pvp, new maps were added, great but its the same game modes over and over and over again, any chance of getting more variety?
the possibilities are endless, maybe something where you have to complete 5 objectives or defend/assault, anything at this point would be nicer then triple king of the hill, which is basically what 95% of pvp is atm. games been out long enough now that we should have more variety.
so heres hoping for some progress arenanet.
havnt played the game in awhile but with the new content im back, noticed some good stuff like previews for items in the auction house however, i was eyeing out the new dye pack that costs gems BUT there is no way to preview the colors you are going to get in that pack and is really not worth it to spend money on something you dont know what your getting.
so please extend the preview ability to packs like that where they are special colors and not random colors.

yeah i found them, its in 1 WvW which im guessing no thouht went into picking server match ups cause for days at any time we are outmanned and own nothing, only like 3 points left, i might have to migrate servers just to complete it T__T
honestly suprised they didnt add a map completion feature on the map itself.
Would be nice to have a visual display of some sort on each area of the map showing your completion in that zone, if you missed a single POI good luck finding it, and teleporting still costs a ton, way way too much.
like in my case im actually certain i cleared all the areas, i was meticulous about it, then stopped for a while when they bugged the skill points near orr.
came back and finished orr, which i had calculated would finish the map for me, only to find im missing points and i have no idea where or why. and its highly annoying.
most anti climatic fight ive ever had, the whole way through the game as a sylvari, its basically trahearnes story, then on the last mission hes not there and you just hurled into a dungeon, the build up to get to zaitan felt lacking but whatever.
fighting zhaitan, omg this massive dragon!, so we stood on the ship while he clung to a tower while for 5-10 mins we all sat comfy on our cannons spamming skill 2, i actually went and made some hot chocolate while everyone spammed away cause nothing else happens, he sits there under fire, maybe hes afraid of heights?
0 interesting mechanics for the main boss fight, kill him go back to town, i assume trahearne spent his time organizing the confetti which is why he couldnt join us and he did a kitten good job with the confetti.
all in all very very, most boring boss battle ever, never felt like it was “my story” it was “trahearnes story” and a dungeon with a dungeon boss who never moves while you like "you dog i heard you like me shooting you with cannons….so imma just sit here and hit you with cannons.
least its over and done with now, i couldnt care less for the story of this game. theres more interesting things to discover in the world then actually saving it.
Event was awesome, servers still need some work though, first time i connected the delay was around 3-4 mins no joke, was completely unplayable and friends couldnt get into my overflow.
got dced from the game. got back into a different overflow with another friend though and it was fine. however not sure if this was intended but the pirates way point was gone, which made excessively annoying to die because you had to spawn on the opposite side of the island and run the entire continent back.
while i enjoyed the event, more variety in monsters would have been nice, was proclaimed to have a new area with new monsters, there was 1 new monster and he came in different sizes, thats about it. by mid way through the event about 30-40% of our army were just afking in the back.
so overall, fun event, needs more variety, servers need to be better still for large events, loot was great but i kinda feel since it was a once off event, giving everyone who completed it something unique to commemorate it would have been a nice touch instead of just normal exotics.
Second time im making this thread, last one i made as in beta, and since beta this skill has been broken.
besides the fact that it doesnt actually revive downed players.
its still a terrible skill, it has a extremely long cd, cast time is also very long, which for something only working on a downed state player is just a joke.
preferably like to see this skill fixed and modified, or at least just fixed, would have thought it would be done sometime from beta to now.
i have a feeling a lot of ppl threw away there stuff because quite frankly it was a joke.
i cannot fathom the reason anet didnt like mentioned before make everything in the chests halloween themed, that is what it sounded like when they made the announcement. given that it gives the same rubbish as before it just feels broken.
for ppl who keep complaining that people are whining, you really should try look at the bigger picture which is what most of the people are saying instead of just deciding what you think people are complaining about.
most of us are not complaining that we didnt get something, we are complaining about the way it was handled which is beyond shocking for any company if i was in charge of it id be hurling myself out a building or telling people i was drunk when i came up with the idea.
and anyway anet said they are looking at changing it so lets just see what they come up with, im very curious to see quite honestly
im interested to see how this is going to work since what you get from those chests were things like gathering tools, boosters and tonics or other garbage you can pick up for nothing, so if we could trade the tools for example why not just buy some from a vendor and say kitten i got these in a chest.
and given the amount you get, i wonder how ripped off the conversions will be, like i opened 20+ chests and have 30ish tonics, how many tonics would be needed to get something. this idea while im grateful is being looked at seems like it needs to be well thought out this time.
and given the last screw up im a little more cynical this time around, understandably.
Not all casuals , working folk , etc agree with the gimme now gimme all crowd.

like its been said and ppl keep missing the point, the chance drops are the problem.
and ANET as much as i like them, messed up massively on this one.
the players who spend alot of money and basically are paying salaries and server costs, feel cheated and rightly so when its possible to through so much money at something for absolutely nothing, those players then say “enough is enough” im not spending money on the game anymore. and honestly im at that point already unless they make a change and so are a few friends of mine. so there already i know for a fact they have lost a income source.
now my friends and i aside ive seen other players saying that as well, so when you add up the numbers, they basically just killed off a large amount of money and their own reputation.
when those people stop paying, who is paying for staff and servers? progressively the game will reach a point where you might as well just pack it up.
obviously that would still be a long long way away but you can see where it leads.
i dont think this is OP unless i can beat down zhaitan with my mad king skills.
this is a silly side event thing that is actually easy to get even without the mad king skills.
in all honesty it was a let down for me as well, its kinda overly complicated. i already finished alot of it, but i had a friend who had already done it drag us over to each point where the ghosts were.
when i did it earlier in the day it wasnt fun and i left the game within 20mins of trying.
just wasnt fun.

You seem to say they will, I say they won’t be able to.Only speaking for myself here, but i certainly won’t be buying any keys ever again from the gem store after today (during any event or otherwise) – not unless Anet do something to make up for things.
and that is the moral of the story that we have all been saying, while they rake in money for the event, they have effectively killed off a large portion of players who wanted to spend money on their work.
now those people wont be so inclined to spend money again for fear of being ripped off again.
going forward this was a terrible, terrible business move by ANET.
alienate the paying players, your reputation as company is massively important as well, and likely those players will get tired of the game at a faster rate and move their money else where, should a competitor game show up, they will have a great chance to steal players and money as there reputation would be in better care.
from what i see in the forum and what ive spend on the game unlocking chests. its just been really poorly executed. game is not F2P its a B2P game first off (one annoying thing there was people who spent extra money getting the upgraded edition for perks that expired but so be it, then they made a normal copy upgradable with gems, which at the time ended making it cheapers to upgrade then spend real money, terrible business decision that.
now with the chance chests as they are, it seems more people are annoyed then not and more ppl feel ripped off, so instead of running with chance and pissing off 90% of the players, it would have been better to increase the odds or add different yet themed content into the chests so it doesnt just feel like its bugged.
since the effect of this is more likely to encourage players who spend money to not spend anymore, gambling is one thing, but keeping paying players happy is also another.
all in all i think was poorly thought out and executed by ANet which is a pity i thought they were doing some good work deserving of lots of people spending money on the game. unfortunately my opinion is being swayed now towards spending my gaming money each month on something else.
difference here being that its not a lottery where people have to be against the amount of players in the game, but rather a % chance which apparently seems so low its probably easier to win the lotto then get anything in game.
at least since they are boasting the chests, one might think that in each chest you would get something more “halloween like” even if its not the weapons skins, then at least you feel like your part of the holiday event. but no they left it with all the regular
account bound rubbish that no one wants anyway.
opened over 20 chests now with nothing to show, massively not impressed since i just purchased the $50 gem pack to get the other mad king costume and hood. always liked and wanted to spend money on the game because i enjoy it and think the staff deserve it for their work, however im done with it now, not gonna spend anymore money on this game, its fine to have chance based stuff, but keys are hard to come by and cost a ton when you consider the chance you probably gonna need 100 of them for 1 item, 125 gems a key, 12500 gems anyone?
+1, a lot of skills are bugged and few are just broken outright.
risk reward on eles is a massive joke, takes longer time in combat with someone who cant handle dmg to be able to put out what a monkey can do in 2 secs by rolling their head on the keyboard.
conditions i think need a relook at. aside from bleed, fire is a joke, you cant stack intensity and a lot of skills and traits give you the chance to inflict fire which just renews the stack and doesnt contribute to more dmg at all.
why even make this thread again, arena net already explained why they wont add them, and im happy they wont, want mounts go play WoW.
theres really no need for them in GW2.

i dont mind the high cost as long as the quality it there.
T3 Sylvari gear i dont have a problem with, T2 is ok, and T1 im hoping is a mistake because it looks identical to the low level gear you pick up from mobs and its design is asura and very mechanical looking. same goes for the T1 Weapons.
I do have a problem with the T3 63k karma Sylvari weapons though, if thye wanted to make something look old and dead and least increase the thickness so it doesnt look like im running around with a twig. theres very little detail that could have been added to them.
As an incentive for completing 100% of the world (since you now effectively seen everything) why not when you receive that last mail saying congratulations for doing that, you get a card or something that gives you say 50% of travel costs to each waypoint.
for me at least it seems a better way to keep players going back and forth through this amazing world to see it, atm tbh if i have to go somewhere ill press autorun on my keyboard aim up and alt tab out, its more annoying then actually enjoying the scenery and i think thats something that should be avoided if possible.

i havnt fully explored the necro profession but i rerolled from a ele to a necro for pvp and it was infinitely easier to kill and not be killed with a necro then it was with a ele.
i think theres a quite a few changes needing to be made to professions, the condition dmg i think needs work on the necro but i also think other classes need a lot more looking at first.
they never posted daily, they did tons of patching, like insane amounts without saying anything, only recently as in 3 patch notes did they put them up.
i dont think it needs a buff, also the idea of it being “elite” i think, is probably not a good idea, theres tons of other races/classes who’s elite skills are elite in name only, just think of it as an extra normal skill and its fine.
honestly id prefer the free transfers stops now as well.
writing in caps for the title makes the thread less credible so well played.
basically i know a lot of people have been changing servers to collect skill points in which there are a ton of broken ones in desolation server.
3 days ago….really now.
tbh i dont think we need patch notes each day thats a bit silly.
even if theres a daily patch, summarize all the notable changes in maybe a weekly patch note.
Badges of Honor need to be rewarded for more than JUST damage/kills

i wish there was a more structured way of getting them atm its so random, like you could go be awesome, build all the siege, get most dmg and kill a dragon just about anything you do, and receive 0 badges.
its a little disheartening.
WvW isnt really competitive tbh, i could understand sPvP but WvW tends to be more lets go zerg and spam.
i dont have an issue with it being in for month achieve

so does just about anything, MMO doesnt automatically = playing with friends.
i agree with the reasoning of avoiding pubstomping, if you want to play more casual in a competitive match, trust me, if you could queue like your asking, you would be here complaining about balance and being pubstomped, which is far worse for raging.
if you really want to relax, play with friends in WvW.
sPvP IS competitive so even if your semi competitive, just use tournament.
unless ofc your just looking for a reason to pubstomp in which case my hats off to arena net for the current system.
i got like 25 keys maybe more, they arnt super easy to get but they arnt bad, although i might have got a few from exploration.
however if the keys are going to be so rare to get, you need to increase the reward and remove the soulbound nature of the items, honestly the items for the most part are junk and soulbound.
atm id say its worthless in game, kinda think of it as a light gimmick nothing more.
Haha, yes. The FOV seems low and I was noticing how claustrophobic I was feeling playing today.
agreed, i actually cant play as long as i used to during beta, not sure why they ever changed the camera. return it to how it was in beta. i feel sick playing after awhile, makes me feel crushed in a small world vs being able to experiance the large scenic vistas.
another thing mentioned was in puzzles and caves, its so annoying, sometimes the camera randomly sticks to a wall you get close to and it wont let go and you cant see what your doing.
i sent in a bunch of tickets and got feedback even telling me when they were backlogged and everything got sorted out fine.
i dont think its worth the amount of effort you need on the class, having to switch over 4 attunements landing every dmg skill still does less dmg then another class that presses 2-3 skills.
yeah but its expensive for a preview. karma is easy enough to come by but when its spent id like to get something decent.
its the crit dmg though, if i put all my traits into air, which basically means im getting higher crit chance and dmg, why is the dmg from the crit the same as the base dmg on the fire? should the crit dmg not be higher then the base dmg?
another thing i noticed was say i put all into fire, il crit maybe 60% of the time, if i put all my points into air, ill crit about 61% of the time, basically it feels like there isnt much of a improvement in the air traits.

ive been increasingly thinking about this but why is it that there are so many karma merchants all selling the same 4 items, like garlic or basil, stuff like that i forget then names but can we get some more variety from them?
why those 4 ingredients always?
whats the thinking behind it?
why was the decision to make those specifically karma?
this is skill is bad in a number of ways but id like some opinions.
1. this skill fails so many times, i think its mainly a issue with terrain, unless you are very close and on perfectly level terrain, this skill 90% of the time will play the cast animation and do nothing.
2. the attunements dont work, water supposedly revives a ally fully, i always revive with +1000 life not full life.
earth revives 3 allies, ive only seen in res 1 target, the one im targeting.
air is supposed to teleport them to you, ive never seen this work, at best i might get them to revive.
fire im not sure, sometimes i just die and only once i was rezed when a ally downed but i think it might have been his rally.
3. it ONLY revives downed players, which is fine, but the cast timer is so unbelievably long that who cares, because your target is probably already dead then or in WvW they will be impaled long before you finish the channel time.
long channel time is fine if it gets the dead back up but for a simple revive its far to long making it very impractical even without the problem of the attunements not working.
fire hits a larger group and does more dmg then the chain effect from auto attacks as well as a high chance to cast burning, so fire it better for groups.
runaways are stopped better by other attunements, earth, water. or fire just kills them quicker. there are no slows in air, only 1 stun which has to be lined up correctly and which may require you to push them into the field edge to trigger which pushes them closer to their team and further from you.
interrupts are better on other attunements as well, the only stun air has is not a guaranteed one, you need to combo for it, since you are not stunned inside the lightning field, only if you try pass through the edges which means you need to use your knock away skill, which also gives them a chance to escape since you will mostly be pushing them away from you.
i like killing tornado users, theres no dmg reduction in that form and they have to be close to you so roll on in and kill them in a few hits since its a caster in close range.
not sure if ppl forgot that, it looks more impressive the it actually is. maybe having a passive in that form that has % chance to reflect % dmg would be a nice addition. atm your a easy target.
dont do story quests for gold, thats not the way to get it, tell your friends they are wrong.
secondly which story quest are you doing at what level?

no offence you might be a good ele but you cant complain about there balance when your saying you miss half of your skills, just think about that for a second.
i dont think eles are super UP or OP, i think they need a few tweaks (especially in air staff attunement but thats another discussion)
they require more micro then other classes with very little to show for it compared to others and im saying this because i hit 99% of my skills, eles have enough slows and stuns to make sure the dmg skills land, and if you cant land it then thats your problem. fighting players who know how to play and losing doesnt make you a good player, and fighting people who dont know how to play and winning doesnt make you a good player. thats what you just said…
my problem is the numbers.
I don’t know if you’re a gem buyer or a gold -> gem trader, but when you open black lion chests, you get tonics that will turn you into an animal or creature or something thats not a normal Player character. I’ve had great success using these (especially the owl) to traverse places in WvW without being attacked, as most people just think, “oh look, a birdy” and don’t really read the name plate.
i would have killed you in a heartbeat, how bad does a player have to be to walk past a owl with the name plate “invader” on it 0_0

This only happens when balance is poor.
In a proper 1v1v1 battle, no one team should ever dominate the entire map, which is to say, 1 team should not be able to totally win a 2v1 situation, crushing both opposing teams at the same time.
well i got mine when the server was very active, i just avoided there armies and while they were preoccupied fighting i would sneak in and run like hell to get the points, its not that hard if you keep vigilant and look for ways to do it.
most ppl just want a easy walk in with no pressure and take it approach which is too easy.
I think the idea is T3 weapons look older, think ancient/elder wood instead instead of soft/green wood (T2).
Also weapons aren’t race bound, you can go buy human/charr/norn cultural weapons if you want.
if it was supposed to look older, and just fyi im using the staff. make the weapons look a bit thicker, like they have been around for a long time vs a thin little twig that grew over night. for the pricing and level of the weapon its a massive let down to say the least.
i could get say ebonhawk gear but i wanted to keep with the lore of the sylvari i wanted to get the amazing t3 armour and then the staff that would go with it, but if you look at armour T3 and the weapon, they dont even match its like the art guys had to discussions about keeping the style, and made completely different pieces that dont even match each other.
so no continuity =(
@trollingfornoobs, i see the blue edge of the sword, that doesnt appear in the preview, its not bad, but does it have any visual effects on it as well?
if theres extra bits on the staff that would be nice but i dont want to spend 63k karma buying something just to see if it looks right.
ive tried the other weapons but so far im enjoying staff more.
im aware the crit rate is higher on lightning, but heres the thing, i specced for fire and then for air, and tbh i got higher dmg and very close crit rates on fire compared to air, i dont feel that speccing for air gives that much of a advantage in terms of dmg or crit rate, which it supposedly is supposed to do.
fire atm tends crit just as often as air and its base dmg and crit dmg range from same dmg as air to more dmg, not sure if its just broken or whats the issue, im trying to figure it out.
@ loic. yeah its my fave attument as well and i would love for it to be viable and maybe that my problem, im looking for ways to justify using it, i was happy when they said it was single target high dmg but it really isnt, atm it feels very lacking.
im hoping it gets a buff or retweaked or something.
but if thats not the case, thought id just ask some players in case i was missing something.

sounds more like whining to me, i didnt chose my server because of WvW i chose the one that my friends play on. and if we all move off of that server for another empty one then the that one becomes the empty one with ppl saying come back we are empty.
