situational.

Ranger – great for spamming castle walls/pressure & single target high dmg
Guardians/Warriors – without these the range dps would die
Elementalist – versatile, good AOE control and pressuring fortifications
Necro/Mesmer – CC/debuffing (these 2 im not 100% sure)

basically every class has a need, it depends on what you want to do

far as i remember WvW is not designed to be balanced, you want balance you go sPvP.
its also not that you didnt have enough players because that happens at different times on ALL servers, if i connect in the morning i get, like you would have, a massive buff i think its actually called “outmanned” which gives some hefty buffing to you server.

when we have alot of ppl online we tend to get a push when ppl are co-ordinated but during certain times its quiet and we get pushed, like most battles there is never a time when you are always at your best, which is why the battles last for so long vs a match based system.

and its not really in the control of the devs to have foresight over how many ppl wake up and go WvW vs doing PvE.

tbh it just sounds like you got beat and need to complain.
but bear in mind ever server has times where they are thinking omg this is unfair as well.

again if you want PvP with proper structure go sPvP. WvW is a sporatic uncontrolled enviroment with which to wage war, be it fair or not, because life and real wars are not always fair.

How can avoid PvP in the Mists? This is not a troll thread.

0_o you want protection in a battleground…..riiiight

so heres how it works, there are areas that have good farming, whether it be resources or mobs, keep an eye out for enemies and you WILL be safe.

farm resources when in the safety of your own armies.

those places have good resources because of the risk/reward, if it was a cakewalk there would be a problem.

atm id say its super easy to get the explore and resources, ive already finished all but one battleground, and the last ones about 70% complete.

like the others said as well, you got your wording wrong, which is dangerous on the internet man lol, Mist is structured PVP, what your doing is not Mist or PvP its WvW or battlegrounds, big difference.

How do you 100% Eternal Battlegrounds?

ive already completed it.

1.rally people to places you need and take them
2. sneak into enemy bases…and run like hell when your found
3. go on during quiet times like early morning before people wake up.
4. do it over a couple of days/weeks, the battlefield always changes, use that.

btw its worth doing, if i recall right, of all the battlegrounds this one has the best rewards.

i wouldnt call it a waste of money, they are prettykittencheap as well to get and transmutes are super easy to get as well.

no problems with the current system.
if they implemented a costume that let you reuse it say 25 times and increased the price by 10 times, would that be better or would ppl then complain about the price.

your kidding right? i feel ripped off because i bought the deluxe edition with real money and then noticed in game i could have bought it with gems which is massively cheaper then buying it IRL, tbh that i think is a bit of a problem but whatever.

the current gem to gold ratio is ridiculously cheap.
level up some more, get more money for selling higher level items and doing dynamic events and it will be super easy to get.
atm its been around 1 gold for 400 gems.

could have bought that upgrade a few times already without farming for money.

i think they are a tad too hard or at least the dmg to yourself is too much and so it becomes more annoying then enjoyable.

the amount of times you die and you have to repair your armour, is insane, having maybe cheaper repair rate in a dungeon or even a free full repair when you leave would be nice, because atm i dont want to run dungeons because the cost of repairs far outweighs the risk reward of it.

other then that i like the difficulty of it being harder then most.
but i like i said, atm its a thin line of being more annoying then enjoyable and some slight tweaking to it would be appreciated. preferably something without nerfing the difficulty.

Well, you don’t need any of the dungeon gear technically… it’s only prestige. By allowing the tokens to be traded you remove some of that prestige because the work the player put in (or didn’t) is more questionable. When you see someone with Orrian armor, you know what they had to do for it.

also its a social game like you said, so be social and get a party together and do the dungeon.
i strongly disagree with making them trade able and i highly doubt Anet will make this change.

getting things you didnt earn i think is trash, and it would just make it so that the strongest players farm tokens all day and control the market with those.

this was a issue i wanted to bring up now that the forums are completely back.

according to the preview (and im told the preview is a bit broken atm, it doesnt display any effects of the weapons)

the T1 sylvari weapons are crafted by low level asura, its look identical to the low level weapons i picked up when i started playing. (i dont believe cultural should be attained by random low level drops in the world, especially not mechanical looking ones for sylvari)

T2 these look good, not complaints at all, they are very much alive, green looking plants.

T3 for 63k karma, i get a very thin looking branch with a few dead vines over it, no leaves, flora, nothing, they do not look impressive and culturally they lead me to feel that the sylvari are a dead or dying race which im sure is not supposed to be the point.

the guys that did the armour sets, my hats off to you the T3 armour looks so good, but it feels like the weapons, you ran out of time and took a shortcut.

would be nice to know if theres more to it because the preview is a bit broken or if theres anything better going to be implemented. atm i feel like i made the wrong decision playing this race when the cultural weapons look like they do.

opinions on this with regards to WvW & PvP?

fire is without doubt the strongest attunement for dealing with PvE, even if you fully spec into air fire still does more in PvE, bit wierd but ok.

in WvW i tend to use air more, its “supposed” to be high dmg single target attunement although personally i find the air attunement for single target dmg to be quite subpar dmg wise in comparison to the fire one.
it still feels like fire does more dmg even when theres no a single trait specced into it.

whats everyones feeling on those 2 attunements for dmg in WvW.

please keep the discussion on the 2 attunements vs constant switching, in fights i do switch attunements quite regularly but if you had a “main” line, whats the results using fire vs air. thanks.

being 3rd most popular class doesnt exactly make them strong or weak.
i think theres no many of them not because or OP or UP reasons but because its a standard class that many players resonate with as well as a class that has a lot of variety.

currently the most popular class is the warrior, which is considered to be the more OP class.

they are slightly underpowered imo and that seems to be the general consensus.
if there was going to be a OP class, i think its swaying to warriors atm.

i think theres lots of ele’s because they are fun to play, and the ability to switch attunements gives them a good variety.

personally id like to see a small buff or tweak to them though.

you can buy gems with in game currency and tbh i was suprised how stupidly cheap it is, even the upgrade to digital deluxe is gems and its so cheap, i feel bad for actually buying it with real money when its actually cheaper in game, that i think is bad but whatever.

i dont have a problem with chara slots, cheap to get more and easy.
wow has also been running for many more years and is subscription vs a game thats just been released and doesnt have a subscription.

No Mounts + Contested Waypoints = Bad Idea

i think its good theres no mounts, even still, im level 80.
while mounts are nice, they arnt needed in this game.

and its nice the waypoints get contested, you have to fight for the zone your in for them instead of it babyfeeding you throughout the game.

So I have to spent even more money to buy more gems to buy transmutation stones so I can keep my armor set. Is that what you are telling me?

transmutation stones are easily aquired in game by exploration. i currently have over 50 without using gems to buy them.
the price of gems using in game currency is also really cheap, cheaper then spending real money which im not wild about but there it is.
so using transmutation stones to keep changing the look i think is more then fine, the gems you use to buy that gear is still cheaper then most of the gear in this game.

sorry i just read this but the problem is that you didnt equip ANY vitality gear and you dont have enough hp……i dont think i even want to answer this.

if you want more hp, equip the more tanky gear thats used in every game on the planet, if you want more dmg or mag find then you need to trade something for that.

it used to be further out then i think they broke it during patches, atm after awhile it gets really sickening, its far too close and when your doing jumping puzzles it annoying at best.

i assume it will be fixed hopefully soon, since it was better in the past and in beta.

every class can be built in every way, so any class can be a healer.
ive got a ele and it heals pretty well. guardians are also really good.

i love the combat but reluctantly have to agree with OP, in the middle of a lot of fights, i suddenly notice ive lost my target and have to retab for it. its not super annoying me atm but it does happen a lot.

i just dont want to waste 63k karma buying the T3 culture staff for sylvari, and the sparkles might be amazing but that staff in the preview looks like it will break in 1 min, its so small/thin and so dead, in a way it doesnt feel close the lore of the sylvari at a T3 level, aside that its made of wood. no leaves, no floral =( if the sparkles are blue, then ill say its bad design, but i dont know that yet.

side note, the T3 norn weapons i picked up one that looks like it at around level 50-60 lol, that should never happen imo.

2. situational siege is amazing,

i had a evening where it was hrs of back and forth over 1 bridge, so i managed to get up a arrow, ballista and treb on our side, all i can say was it was amazing.

3. if you dont want to pay for siege, EB has the jumping puzzle that always gives a few blueprints.

0_0 they need to fix the previews then, spending 63k karma for a weapons is a bit much to just see if it looks different lol. but good to know, hopefully thats fixed soon.

i do agree with some other stuff and friends and i were complaining a bit yesterday, there is a lot of gear thats high level and looks like your level 1 starting gear, which is just terrible.
sylvari T1 is atrocious, it looks like low level gear you pick up and it looks nothing, plant like at all, for culture weapons to look like it came from the asura on a sylvari, if thats intentional, then i have to worry about some of the games designs.

hoping for a lot of changes on looks of gear because atm its just plain bad, and i got the same feedback from all races gear.

@Miotas, yeah i think ill go looking there tonight thanks for the heads up.

hey guys, does anyone know where some really good looking weapons are?

im playing sylvari, got to 80 so now wanna start making my character look really good, the T3 armour for sylvari culture is good i like it, but the weapons, are a ridiculously massive let down, the staff is a thin stick with dead vines wrapped around it, its like a tree in winter and would be a nice T1 item but for T3 with about 63k karma, i cant believe it was added as it is.

what else is available for ele?

Elementalist Skills not working

There are 2 skills they i dont think work as intended.

1. Glyph of renewal
2. Lightning Flash

the first skill doesnt revive dead only downed, which is fine however the channel time is extremely long for only a downed player state. onto the skill itself, i found that when in air it wont revive 9/10 times and when it does it doesnt teleport the player to you. in earth form it says it revives 3 players, again ive only been able to get 1 person up, and in water form i can res 1person and heal them for 1000 life not full life like the tool tip says.
another thing maybe effecting it, is all res modes seem to fail more if your not on perfectly flat terrain with your target.

Second skill, the teleport, seems to only work on flat terrain, i had hoped it would be similar to the engineers jump skill but with longer cd, teleport doesnt work on raised terrain or on jumping puzzles to move to even the smallest place, not sure if thats intended but against the engi jump its far inferior.

when you try teleport to a raised piece of land, the lightning bolt graphic goes off, the skill goes on cd and you dont move or move a little forward, normally to the edge of a ledge.
