200w psu peak, not actual which is 130-150w.
Your system was never meant to have a gpu card added. It was only meant to use the onboard only.
Very little improvement will happen in your system by adding a weak gpu to an already bad and old system.

I read your post and adding your systems specs will help. Dont matter if it worked before, what happens now is important. A 64bit OS needs 4GB+ ram to fully use the system. Less than that 32bit is what you want to use.

Video card is dying
PSU is having issue not giving correct power and dying
Drivers are having conflicts
Maybe the cable is causing a bad connection. DVI or VGA?
if he has a router, he really dont need a software firewall.
Why not use a different program that would not cause issues, or one that is better than AVG.
You can even use windows own firewall and AV software, that does work.
I had a fx 4100 with a gtx 560 and was getting the same fps as my fx6100 and gtx 670 mine as well get my 600$ back for the hardware
A FX-6100 is no better than FX-4100. There is not an upgrade. They are basically the same cpu.
You really need to learn what is going on with your system.

Like I said, dont matter if you have 6 cores. You need to understand how cpu works. GW2 dont use all 6 cores, only 1. With the FX-6100, single core applications, perform badly, compared to Intel and previous generation.
Also your network speed + type of HDD used plays a factor too.
Win8 is also new and not fully supported in drivers or games yet. Still needs more tweaks to work out the bugs.
your gpu is fine. Its the FX-6100 is the issue. Performs badly when it comes to single thread applications, when games are cpu bound. Which GW2 is.
Just cause you have 6 cores dont mean anything, when games are not even using it.
only thing good about the FX-6100 is nothing, which is still under performing compared to the Phenom II 965, at the same cost.
Only thing you can do is upgrade to Intel or get a 965. other option is to try to OC your CPU as much as you can, to help to maintain a more steady pace in games. But be sure to have air flow in case + a good cpu cooler.
A GTX 550 Ti from a GTS 450 is not a upgrade of much. Can you take back the card and get at least a GTX 660 Ti or better.

Using a lower res, you will use more CPU usage. Try to overclock to help. Also, your video card with only 512mb is a problem.
There is not enough to handle the higher textures and details.
GTX460, still old and better cards out there. Now that depends on how much you bought it for and which version, if the SE or 768mb version, then not a good card.
You will want to OC the 2570k, as GW2 is more cpu bound, but you need a good cooler and proper airflow.
The rest of your system will be also a factor, including ram, HDD, Resolution and network.
20-30secs with your ssd is much slower. I load under 10secs on a Crucial M4 on a Intel Sata3. Due to your Sata2 ports, you gim-ped your SSD read speeds, to a point.
Now you say you have a 25Mbps down and 256Kbps up connection. The up speed is just too slow. 256Kbps is max, but most times you will only see half that.
That will affect on how data you will send back to servers, which shows why you have same load times from the HDD to SSD.
Also I would do a fresh install of GW2, instead of coping over.
MasterK, that case is garbage. No room for longer graphic cards. Very cramped. Top mount PSU. Airflow is just bad. 80mm fan.

Auto attack is on kits, not all skills. When you hover over the skill it will tell you can set it auto attack.

The 500GB HDD you have is a Green, which is for storage. Slow performance for an OS with games, use it for backup, saving files.

You cant say that GW2 will run very well. There is not tests for it. For all we know, it will be the same as the previous FX.
At the high res, your system will be having issues trying to keep up. The GTS250 even OC, is not going to do anything.
The performance from it is not capable of doing what it can.
dacooli.6712 you cannot compare boardlands 2 to GW2. Different game. You need to look at what is causing the issue in your system.
Also your network can cause lower fps if you cannot properly relay info from your system to anet, or receive the info from anet to you.
You need to start and find solutions to help or dont post.

That test means nothing. All it does is show the clock speeds passed. Not on how well it can handle.
Upgrading to a GTX560 will be an improvement, and help keep some of the load of the cpu on a 1680×1050 (not 1400×1050)
Now if you can OC your CPU, it will help maintain your fps slightly better.

your system as a whole is lacking. GTS 250 512mb video card, wont handle the higher texture or rendering. Not gonna get much from an older Athlon core.

An new system would get you to play GW2, and other games. It is all part of PC Gaming.
So, explain why I got fps issues with gtx 680 SC edition + i5 2500k clocked to 4.2? The game is poor optimized, thats it, especially for high end cards.

Not true, then every person would be having issues. Game runs fine on my system, friends system. If you are having problems, something is wrong on yours from the sound of it. Either hardware or software conflicts. Anything is possible, which can be fixed.
Different games uses different coding. You’re are fine in one game, don’t mean you’ll be fine in another. Games cant tailor to everyone systems, as we all install different software, but can have similar hardware.

Sorry Hasteo, but is the best you are going to get. Are you running 1920×1080? Higher res need more gpu power to get higher settings.
The 7770 is a low-mid end card, with a poor performance 8150. Lower FPS.
If you want to help get more, you will need to upgrade your gpu to at least a GTX670/680, AMD 7950/7970
OC 3.95 is not much, you need to get much higher to at least 4.6Ghz.
Mr. Kalec, what was i trying to prove according to you? i wrote that my AMD Phenom II Dual Core 560 with two cores unlocked (B60 after the unlock) on stock 3.3 Ghz with a HD4870 card runs this game on highest settings with Shaders turned on Ultra. at 1280×1040. (HD4870=5770=6770 and is bit faster than 7770) can and will let GW2 run at 35-55 fps.
and yes i am using 212 CM cooler. and it doesnt matter as this chip Unlocked cant run faster than 3.9Ghz without shutting one core. so basicaly what i have is an AMD QC that can run Stable up to 3.8 on Air with the 212.

honestly i dont know about the 41xx, i am not going to buy one to test it. but what i understood is that they will deliver more or less the same.
as for the guy who bought it. 6850 is not going to block him. and he can oc the GPU to get 6870 performance. if his system can run the game up to 25 fps during the fps drops, he wont notice the drops. (what the eye sees as fps drop lag is under 24fps and not 30 fps as stated everywhere. just go to the cinema and tell me you see fps drops there).
that AMD i have was a 80-90$ Cpu. The mobo 100$ more. 4 GB of DDR3 Ram. and the Card there is 4 years old. my point is that it is playable on high settings. in that configuration.
FX41xx with 6850 should be a better combo than the one i have. so yes he should be able to play it.

i am sorry your 2500-3000$ machine isnt delivering X10 times the fps a 250-300$ combo delivers while its still playable. (as long as his minimun fps will stay above 24-30) and he will be able to swap and upgrade his cpu.
Simon De Borovsk I think you are missing the point here. You said the benchmark proved it. It is already incorrect test. Low res with a much higher end card. Which the best case scenario, as already mentioned.
The Fx4100 does not perform well in single or dual threaded games. Quad thread games can be ok, but compared to previous counter part X4 965, it is below it.
The i3 3220 can keep up with or even best the FX4100.
Comparing movies to games is very different. 24fps movies and 24fps games acts very differently.
What is the point in buying a system, when you have to upgrade quickly. Why run minimum 24-30fps, and have it dip even lower under heavy situations.
That makes no sense.
As for my system, never paid that much. Wasn’t built for gaming, that was a side step for work. I do get 50-60fps constant in open world, and do dip to about 45fps in WvW.
My system is not important here, as I know it looks great while playing with all the details GW2 has to show.
Moz & Simon De Borovsk you didnt prove nothing. He’s not running a 7950, nor at 1280×1024. So 41fps he wont see. You have stock cooling at 4.8Ghz, I really doubt your temps are even low or even truthful.
But clock speeds are not always good. The architecture of the cpu is more important. You dont need an expensive cooler either. CM 212 $30 will handle i5 2500k easily.
Too bad you can change your system, would be a smart way to go.
It looks like your settings are really low. Your gpu could be having issue correctly displaying the details.
Show your in game settings and list your specs with driver version?
if in game settings didn’t change, then other possible is the resolution not set correctly?
maybe you dont have the correct or proper drivers from AMD?
Is your friends cpu same as yours, stock or OC?
Have you checked during game play to see if the GTX 570 is being down clocked. Some cards do that for some unknown reasons at times.
You can use MSI Afterburner while game.
I would return it. The clock speed means nothing on the FX. Even at 4.4Ghz OC, it is a small gain. 16GB ram will do nothing for gaming. SSD will help with loading and maintaining fps.
If your video card is not up there, you wont see the performance.
Your video card is not capable to run in GW2 @ 1920×1080 max. GT 610 $45 card. Even at low, the FX-6100 will have issue with the game, with the GT 610.
Suggest upgrading to Win 7 64bit and make sure you have 4GB ram.
Also upgrading to a good gpu will help, which might need a new power supply.

If your having a slideshow effect, something in your hardware is causing this.
Not every software can work on every system. 2 people can have the identical system, one will work the other issues. its on how your system was configured.
Game not broken. See no issues atm, except broken events. Not in the graphical area.
Best is to overclock your cpu to at least 3-3.2ghz. You’ll need a good heatsink and proper airflow.
That system is just not good. The FX-4100 is garbage, when compared to the X4 965. Core for core, it cannot compete. Not to mention the bad power supply that come with it.
That CyberpowerPC can get you maybe med at 45fps, low at 60fps.
Once you start getting more action, fps will drop.
In my sig, 50-60fps constant highest settings. Drops when heavy action on screen to about 35-45fps average.
