If anything adding gliding will make the maps even more hated than they already are.
The devs would have better luck starting from scratch.
For something that probably took up to 2 years to develop I just find that really sad!
With the changes they have made its makes an interesting and different map to fight in, on rotation. I honestly don’t think you have given it a chance after the changes. To throw it all away and be stuck with the same 4 year old maps for maybe another 2 would just be really sad.
(So true I said it twice!)
It’s hard to feel bad for a company that blindly goes into creating a product but doesn’t listen at all to its customers. Worse than that not only did they not listen but they continued not to listen for almost 6 months after release.
People whine about leaked patch notes like it’s some kind of insider trading that needs the SEC to investigate. No, it’s not. Everyone saw the leaked notes. Everyone had the same chance to take advantage of that information. If your server didn’t that’s your problem, not Anet’s and most certainly not the players on other servers.
People saw the notes before they were even leaked though.
Uh… ok?
Did that sound better in your head before it reached the forums? Because I don’t think I understand what you’re saying. The pairings were leaked but they were leaked before they were leaked?
I really wish people would stop whining. We wanted the old bl’s back and we got them. We wanted stability changes and we got them. We wanted something to be done about the lack of players in wvw and we got it. We’re going to get a change to how scoring is done because we want it.

I’m really not sure what people expect at this point?
I agree. This is beta people. A.Net is using us to figure out what to do by looking at reams of data.
Round 3.5 years late though……
I agree but that’s a whole different discussion. Shoulda, coulda, woulda, hindsight 20/20 and all that good stuff.

Quality of Life improvements did not win the vote, so we have no immediate plans to work on something like this. Also, while it might not seem like it, this problem is non-trivial to solve cleanly.
We didn’t need this feature added in the first place, just give us an option to turn it off or just turn it off. It came with HoT and you guys already have tweaked it once when guilds were abusing it by claiming several items on and off.
Tyler, if you get some time, go watch some of my past streams on twitch (in my signature) and look at how large that is with my screen resolution. It takes up so much of my viewing space for no reason and I have no option to move it or turn it off. I know I am not the only one with this issue, but it is really hurting my game play.
It’s not even blocking the view, and no, we are not gonna watch your stream pvd ing doors and ganking players. You and the other 4 that wanted alpine back got this problem.
The vast majority of people wanted alpine back. I believe Anet said an “overwhelming number” of players wanted it back. But keep believing it was just 4 or whatever other arbitrary number you want to come up with. Doesn’t make it true but go ahead and believe what you like.
And to keep things on track, yes the notifications do block the view and are annoying. Which again the vast majority of people seem to agree on. Maybe even an “overwhelming number” but even if not overwhelming certainly more than 4.
There are other things that needs to be adressed, not a small text on the to top of your screen. If its so annoying why dont you remove all the ui since it clutter your view so much. Theres a keybind for that you know.
Yes! Absolutely! The ENTIRE UI needs to be addressed. But that’s likely to never happen so why concern ourselves with it?

This isn’t a quality of life issue. It’s a common sense issue that should have never made it into the game to begin with. At the very least it should have come with the ability to disable it. How this kind of garbage makes it past the drawing board is beyond me.
Not seeing orange swords on alpine bl with 40+ fighting. Multiple maps. Definitely popping in ebg though.
Definitely worth trying out for a few days.
I am very excited for the nostalgia bubbles to burst when people realize how boring Alpine is to play on again.
So much this. Remember all th whines for new maps? Apparently others don’t remember them at all….
So much NOT this. A lot of people wanted new maps that were NOT like eotm and had less pve than alpine did. Then they gave us more pve in a map that was a lot like eotm. And that was only the beginning of the problems people had with desert bls. No one asked that the new map be filled with gimmicks, but that is what we got. So people legitimately complained because it was pretty much the opposite of what had been requested over the past 2.5-3 years.
The lag is nothing new for wvw, especially in the upper tiers. No doubt people can remember how bad the lag could get across the map when there was a 3-way garri fight going on in the old BLs when there was a decent population. You had time to make dinner, and walk the dog waiting for a skill to fire off.
Really not much you can do about it if you want to play wvw. Now that the population has started getting back to where it belongs you’re going to have to contend with it until they figure out a way to fix it.
Some details of the two options would be nice. How else can people have an educated opinion?
Assuming it is a duel in a well defined/known duelling location I leave them alone. If they’re duelling some where that is not known for duelling I may jump in just depends.
It’s not going to be scrapped. It’s going to rotate in and out with Alpine. They are not doing away with it.
At least that is the last I read about it.
I think the key is that the increased population makes it much more enjoyable but when that dips down again I don’t think it’s going to be any different than before.
“gliding, JUST LIKE PVE. "
That’s pretty much a complete turn off for me. shrug
No. This is nothing new. If someone gets dc’d they wait to get back in just like anyone else. Doesn’t matter who they are or what their role is in WvW.
slimike.1693 let count how many complains vs how many ppl love this patch , ( there are MORE complains ) also did you waited 1 to 2 hours ? will you be happy waiting 2 hour per day from now on ? if you say yes u don’t mind , transfer to my server lol ,
I will give u a week in my server waiting for 1 or hours to get in wvw , then you will be posting complain lol
if you wanna use the word majority , if there was a majority of you ? why do I see more complain then ppl posting they love this patch ?
also majority of us , who work , got family
and just wanna spend an hour or so in the game to relax
for the people who want to fight in high population servers , let they pay to transfer
that is best its a win win for everyoneYou saying that there are more complaints than satisfied players is not true. Most people are very happy about this update. The reason you see more complaints on the forum is because people that have complaints are more likely to make posts than people without complaints.
The number of people who give feedback on a forum is not a reliable metric in determining the number of people who are satisfied or unsatisfied with something. It just means that not everyone takes the time to go and voice their opinion on a forum. For any number of reasons. Any forum, any product.
lol BDO is more of a game then GW2 was to start with GW2 there is no skill, no time needed and no sense of worth. Only reason you like guild wars is cause they give you the best gear. Have fun with your new update glad to see them still trying to make it a place for the plebs to run back to after other game devs dont hold there hand.
If you get your sense of worth from a game then… I don’t know… I feel bad for you.
QW2 lol this dedgame. just give it up already and come play BDO….. ohh right you already are :P #PSAfromGundamJesus
I had fun for about a week on BDO. It is terrible. Sloppy. Unimaginative. A grindfest in the truest sense of the word.
Make a trait for certain classes that exposes players who are invis via the water when they get within a X distance. Between 900 and 1200 would give people some time to react while not entirely negating the cloaking mechanic. Something with an upkeep cost that is running constantly if traited.
The point of a beta test is for feedback. No one is QQing we are pointing out concerns and potential issues. Exactly what a beta test is designed for.
I wanted to hop in the thread and thank everyone for all of the feedback so far! It has been really helpful!
I also wanted to remind everyone that Potions of WvW Reward will be added once the beta is complete. They will work the same as Potions of PvP Reward in that they will drop from dailies and progress WvW Reward Tracks. Just something to keep in mind that will be coming in the future.
Is there a reason not to add them now? At the end of the beta is there a chance you’ll zero out the existing reward progress and take away what has already been given?
Queues : I think this topic deserves consideration outside of the normal pros and cons. A reasonable queue is fine but sitting in 30 – 120 minute queues to get into WvW like happened during the seasons is not sustainable. Especially if it becomes the norm. And no EotM is not a satisfactory answer to the problem. If it counted towards your score or had some measurable impact on it then sure but as it stands it’s about as valuable to WvW scoring as a Silver Waste run.
Pros -
1) Population increase for now. Though when the shininess wears off I have a feeling a lot of the people who came back for wvw will be leaving. Hopefully not but time will tell
2) Less dead time overall. It’s nice to be able to jump in and have things to do (eg find groups to run with and groups to fight)
Cons -
1) Lower tier communities destroyed. To me that’s not an issue but to a lot of people it is. WvW was really the last thing left to hang a server identity on and now it is gone for the guesting servers.
2) Anet poorly prepared servers and didn’t allow time to coordinate. Short term issue but annoying. They could have simply forbidden server transfers and told everyone the matchings ahead of time.
3) Blobs. Finding smaller scale fights (10-15) is going to be more rare. Particularly during prime time.
4) It doesn’t address the actual issues with population on servers and what has caused the slow but steady bleed off of WvW players over the past couple of years. Stagnant matchups, poor rewards (getting better), poor ingame performance (lag, disconnects, etc)
heres a tip, no queue involved
dont worry its not PvP, PvP have queues too you knowits WvW
EotM does NOT belong in any discussion about WvW. It does not impact WvW in any way shape or form.
Some servers (TC, BG, YB, etc) have looong queues because of the short sighted stacking that many guilds have done. Now the merger / reset has started and they are reaping their rewards… multi-hour queues.
It’s your own fault for not seeing the consequences of your actions. And on top of that, you helped ruin the experience for people who didn’t ask for you to transfer.
Have fun in your pvqueue.
It’s not the players job to regulate and control the populations. That’s Anet’s job. Population has been an issue for a long, long time. It was Anet’s job to fix it. To stop transfers, to force transfers, to shutdown servers, to merge servers. Whatever. But instead they sat back and collected the money while everything went downhill. They had all the metrics and could have easily seen the numbers of people moving to and from each server and stepped in when it became clear that things were out of hand. But they elected to take the transfer fees and act like nothing was wrong.
If you still insist on blaming the players then the lower tier servers are every bit as much to blame as the higher tiers. They are reaping what they sowed by not fostering a healthy and competitive wvw community. Which led many guilds to leave and seek the kind of wvw they wanted at the higher tiers.
If you stack a server and follow the biggest herd of course you are going to be in a queue. It’s not ANET’s job to hold your hand and tell you the facts of life. They have been trying to manage server pops but the zerg guilds keep gaming the system. Now those same zerg guilds sit in a queue and cry about it.
BG is the biggest zerg server, therefore they have the longest queues. You can’t have it both ways. If you want to fight and not be in a long queue then don’t join a zerg server or follow them when they decide to get cute and stack somewhere else.
They’ve been trying to manage server populations? Since when? A month or so ago? What about the past 1.5 to 2 years when it became very apparent to everyone that there was a problem? The server population issue wasn’t a new thing that suddenly happened that Anet jumped right on fixing. No, it’s been around for a very long time. And do you know how they tried to manage the issue?
…
That’s right, by doing absolutely nothing until recently. And somehow that constitutes “trying to manage the server pops” I’m very confused how you can possibly reach that conclusion. Enlighten me?
People move from the lower tiered dead/dying servers so that they can actually do something in wvw aside from a couple hours on reset and maybe some on Saturday night. Imagine if Anet had actually managed the server populations from the beginning and had kept the populations healthy across all the tiers. Imagine if they had made it so the guilds and players who wanted to focus on wvw could do so day in and day out instead of 6.5 days of pvd and 0.5 day of actual wvw. You know wvw where you’re actually fighting other players, defending against other players, breaking through other players defenses to take their stuff.
Imagine if they had been responsive to the simple things from the beginning like -
- better rewards
- rewards for scouting
- not putting DBL in after getting so much negative feedback
- reverting the stability changes once it became clear so many people didn’t like them.
- not having a 3rd season after the first two were so disastrous
- implementing and actually supporting GvGs
The list is pretty extensive of things that would have helped the wvw population. Little things that they chose to ignore which led to a lot of people leaving. Sure they’re doing something about things now but that’s in no way shape or form the same as “been trying to manage server pops” from the beginning.

It’s a bleep’n competitive game mode!!! It’s not up to the Dev’s to make teams and sort players. The heck with that crud right there!!! We’re not Anet’s puppet and let’s see them try a stunt like this with sPvP. Sure, let’s see Anet say to ESL player from team A, now has to be on team B. Team C you now have to play with 4. Team D, our favorite, you get to play with 6. The answer to that kind of unethical bunk in a competitive game mode is to say “The heck with it”.
Take a deep breath and try again. You got very worked up and I have no idea what you were trying to say other than you disagree.
Anet’s puppet? Try it with sPvP? Unethical bunk?
Explain.

Most if not all of our guilds are willing to share builds, resources and even open recruitment for people in ET if they wish to join and play with a BG guild.
So finally someone says what we are all thinking, this is why T1/T2 servers will not speak out against this, they gain with this change exactly what they have been looking for and paying for, for so many years… Why should they have to pay to attract guilds and people… Anet will just do it for them…
When people read forums, what everyone needs to know, those who think there is nothing wrong, things are going good, Why would they ever post? Only the minority, people with issues with how it is going or being done will post. That is why I am here, I am not sure yet if I am in the minority and honestly if I am, so be it. I will get used to it. But, before you go off and start trying to turn this back on me, we have been merged for less then 24 hours and now have 4 forum pages and will be on #5 within a couple hours. Have you ever seen a forum gain 5 pages in one day about how dead WvW is?
Tier 1 and 2 servers don’t have any trouble attracting guilds. Most of the time the guilds get in contact with their community wvw leaders and ask for assistance with a transfer. The servers have no need to sit on the corner begging people to come to them.
Who spent just a “few minutes in queue”?
Regardless queues of 50+ on all the bls and over 150 on eb combined with the later reset times is an issue. I waited for 2.5 hours and went from 146 down to 99ish before having to log out. Yes, queues are normal but not that large that late.
Then go play EOTM while you wait, i rather there is a queue then to log on and there is no one to play with.
A queue of 20-30 minutes sure. Even up to an hour on reset night is acceptable. But 2.5+ hours is excessive. Reset queues are understandable and healthy but not to the point of stopping people from being able to play within a reasonable amount of time. What if the same queues are happening during the week? Would you be happy to see that? If you were waiting in the queue would you be happy?
People have been asking for this since the game came out. I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you.
Didn’t I read somewhere that the devs said it was going to take a lot of work (2-3 months worth) before alpine was going to be ready to be back in rotation due to changes on the backend due to HoT?
Guys IT IS TOO SOON to have any opinion on the issue.
Give it a few weeks. Everyone wanted to do WvW and see the changes. Ofc we will see ques.
But that is great! That means we still have a vast amount of ppl interested in WvW.
I would be more worried if there wasn’t queue times yesterday.
Now please, settle down a bit and let things normalize before you come up with an opinion.
People keep talking about waiting for things to settle out and normalize before voicing any opinion but that’s silly. You should give feedback immediately (good or bad) so that the people who can make the changes can at least start thinking about what they could do differently both in the long and the short term.
then that is how it should be, and you should be moving your guilds to the bottom of the board.
The reason a lot of us moved off of the lower tiered servers is because those servers made it very clear to any and all guilds/players that were wvw focused that we had no place there as part of the larger “community”. Especially if we had a desire to be competitive and win the matchups. Servers like BG, JQ, TC, YB, etc are the servers that welcomed the people who wanted to win and play on a more competitive level.
So unless those lower tier servers have a change of heart and want to be competitive and want to climb the ladders or stay in the top tiers why would we want to move back down and deal with all that frustration? Why would we want to hear how our “elitist” attitudes (aka competitive attitudes) aren’t welcome?
Excuse me. This topic is not about you cry babies. This topic is about thanking anet for making wvw lively again. So excuse yourself. Go cry somewhere else.
Once again, KUDOS ANET!!!!!!!!!
No, not kudos anet. Rather, nice try anet but it needs a good amount of tweaking before it will be a workable solution.
And why are you here again? Shouldnt you be refreshing sieges before cloudfart and dk come and take our stuffs? *rolleyes
Since I can not recall a time that I have ever refreshed siege in nearly 4 years of playing you’ve clearly mistaken me for someone else.
As to why I’m still here, because -
- I can be.
- It annoys you.
- I’d hate to have Anet think that your opinion on the change is the prevailing one.
- It’s Saturday and I don’t have to work for a few more hours
Take your pick.
Who is “cloudfart” and who is “dk”?
Edit : you’re → your

Had a 50 min Q. But hey i just put something on to watch since i knew it was going to be a long q. And when my q pop i still have a good time.
Really? U guys cant find anything to fill in your time while q’ing? What are you 6? Lol. Grow up
Your point?
Why is it always the us ladder complaining btw?
Because the NA servers haven’t one exclusive timezone to play?
On EU most maps are dead after 0400 (4 am) and people get online earliest at 0800 again. On NA servers you have a 24 hour queue because of EU, NA/SA, SEA and OCX players.
That would mean on EU the playerbase is concentrating on a smaller time frame and US would distribute it’s playerbase on the whole day.
Isn’t it more about that you activly rigged the ladder and stacked on a few worlds?
How exactly do you propose that the US “distribute its player base”? There’s a limited number of hours in the day for everyone and an even more limited number of hours to play video games.

Well it looked good on paper but if you can’t figure out a way to fix these queues then I’m afraid all the good will you’ve created with this most recent patch is going to fly right out the door.
One word Bois.. CROWFALL… Bois.
About a year+ off in its own right.
You guys want to hear about what going to happen but when your faces with the really of what your asking for and the time to make it work this is how you guys react i can see why they give no info most of the time. Read just read how you guys react to any new things and ask your self why dont they add new things in.
They just got done telling us they’ve been working on it for a year. What kind of reaction do you expect when someone tells you’ve they’ve been doing something for a year and then comes along and tells you it isn’t ready? Think about that for a moment. A year is a LONG TIME to be working on something and have nothing to show for it.
Anet want Esport , guys. Deal with it : (
They don’t seem to have much luck with that either.
They cant be serious.. right?
How can they work for OVER a year at the overhaul and still need so much time after HoT to finish it?! Cant they see WvW gamemode is slipping out of their hands?
My god… I dont understand Anets thoughtprocess at all. Are they really that understaffed?!
My guess is that when they saw the reaction to the new WvW maps that came with HoT it was back to the drawing board and whatever progress they made over the last year has at least partially been scrapped.
Isn’t it just amazing how a post with “Screw you, Anet” within the title can exist unchanged for over one day? They aren’t even reading the posts on the WvW forum. xD
Past couple of weeks have been holidays for most people. I’m guessing that starting this next week we’ll see a lot of infractions given out, posts removed, etc. Essentially it will be back to the status quo.
These changes are (mostly) great but they don’t address the primary problems that are brought about due to population imbalance. I’m also doubtful that they will address the problem of the overall lack of wvw population. So hopefully the unannounced changes will do something about those issues. Because if you can’t entice people to come and play the game mode there’s not much point.
One night raiding in the BLs
Has anyone else seen a gaming company destroy their product so quickly with one single move? After that disaster, what did they do to recover/rebuild? Did they succeed?
One thing a lot of people have asked for is a reversion back to the old BL. But do companies ever do something that so highlights their failure — even if the benefits are great?
Perhaps Anet can learn something from the experiences of others?
Learning something would require admitting a mistake and thus far I’ve seen no indication they’re willing to do that.
The “I’m going to take all my toys and go home” approach to fixing problems rarely works and is… well… childish. WvW needs work but no sense in killing the entire game mode while they work it out.
But the question becomes are they doing more damage than good to the wvw player population while trying to work it out? Are the other aspects of the game enough to tide people over while we wait for wvw to be “fixed” (whatever that means)?
