Had four separate TW guys engage me in combat first (on land and in water) and then run away when they started losing. Then I finally get a TW guy that doesn’t run and after he’s dead he groups up with me to troll me (see above) ….. as I’m congratulating him on a good fight, lol.

You can only learn and improve by your mistakes. Running will not improve skill. Stay and challenge yourself.

And nope, not wearing any of the new runes, or specced for roaming.

Whats the reason for someone to fight a 1v1 when he doesn’t have a 1v1 build at all.
I run a tanky support warrior and I don’t try to get in 1v1 because I simply can’t win it against roaming builds.

Most of our people run zerg builds.
Just saying.

Well the simplest solution it would appear is to not engage me in a fight then. If you come at me and try to kill me, I’m going to do my best to defend myself. If you come at me and try to kill me, then start losing and run away, well then that’s just silly. I realize that every server has people who do this, but I’ve come to expect a bit more from TW and the caliber of players they are reputed to have. If I’m watching one after the other after the other, all from the same guild, start running for the nearest tower or keep when they start losing (after they attack me first), well you can see how I’m starting to form an opinion. The other solution has been to call in five others if they are failing at winning. This is constructive, believe it or not, on my part, and urging you to get out there and roam a bit. If you manage to improve skill enough to do well solo fighting or even 3v1 fighting, that translates into zerg pushes too. Running away doesn’t show you where you failed to time a spell or attack properly.

We have no clue who you are. You on the other hand obviously have a fixation.

Yer not the only one who spends the better part of their night in WvW every night chasing [TW] members across the map. A lot of times it feels like when you separate an animal from their herd, they will do everything in their power to get back to that herd. Though of the 2 total SoR players that have actually stayed to fight me in the past month, hats off to you for having a pair.

I always run large scale combat builds, I always fight 1v1 battles when they occur, I win many and I lose some but I never run. I take my double down like a man.

So, Tuesday night Kelo decided to record and make his first video ever. I think the trolling is cute in the video. SF had an offense of 26 members, and a total of 34 online on the map. SG had just left the map and SoR appeared to want to dance w/us, so here we tango! The remaining 8 were running havoc and scouting spawn tower and north hills. This was the most hardcore fight that we were involved in this week. We had to bail before the fight was over, apparently BG thought it was a great idea to setup 5 trebs in NE supply camp. Razethh and I were pretty much giving each other the Good Game after the fight. He told me that they brought three teams and kept splitting on us which was extremely hard to keep up with.

In some of the parts you will notice the field movements, but from a Kelo perspective it is hard to see just how coordinated the attacks were from the SoR teams. We had spawn advantage which helped, but we were reluctant to not do a full wipe in the camp and stay mobile with at least 15 on the tag and alive. Vic was calling the primary fight, at one point he did get downed and I had to take over calling.

This fight lasted almost 15 minutes and was a non-stop kite fest mixed with, “OH GOD kitten IT THEY ARE DOING THE THING WITH THE THING AGAIN!” “RALLY RALLY RALLY BRRWRRAAAAAAAAAAAAA.” Apparently Vic likes to use the term, “drop the baby” these days, which added hilarity to the fight, because we were “dropping the baby on chokes.”

In any case, cheers to the teams on SoR for making that the fight of the week for us!

I believe now the primary issue lies in your own computer’s specs and how much you are able to handle at any given time. Better systems will see more players at once and at farther distances where as more kittenty systems will feel like the old pre-patch culling.

- Due to an overwhelming response from the community about this “Train” that “Choos” across the various WvW maps, rolling over everything in it’s path, we have decided to give a debuff to anyone bearing a “[Choo]” tag in WvW. This debuff, coupled with an increase drop rate for those that down said players, will make the players walk at half speed, attack at half the rate, and will cut down on the number of “Choo Choo’s” that can be said by their members. Also, any open field combat not using siege has a higher drop rate for precursors. Hopefully this will stabilize the WvW gameplay, community, and the official forums.

Wrong, those patch notes are fake! Only Aggression commanders have a increased precursor drop rate. Maybe that was nerfed too? Who knows….? Regardless It sure would be nice to see [Choo] on a map for once.

P.S. Why do you guys never come play with SF ): It’s been over a week since I seen any Choo on a map I was on.

I don’t know what all the complaining is about. Did BG win last week? Rejoice children! The long cold night of the JQ is OVER! Now that JQ has been beaten, they will implode. Just like HoD, ET, SoS and the other server with the guy that did ventriliquism on the island. The plane boss, the plane!

But seriously, kids, this week is not exactly a fair fight. BG spotted us a big lead resting up for the patch and the week that follows the patch. This week is almost a throw away. Patch mid week, come on. One set of rules half the week, another set of rules the second half.

Look on the very bright side of things. Dedicated players will not be worth MORE than zerglings. Servers like SoR will have a better chance to compete. BG and JQ have a lot of half-in half-out WvW players who won’t spend a lot of time getting ranked up. Smart servers will be able to create specialists for different situations, or even heroes of great reknown that can strike fear in the hearts of other players with their shiny tag alone!

When does the patch go live?

It’s ok though Blackgate never got to be rank 1, they may have won a week match but they still didn’t obtain the throne. It’s like winning a round in a best of 3 Street Fighter game. Blackgate still has some work to do if they want to obtain the throne of NA Tier 1.

Looks like BG is waiting anxiously for Kaineng to get up to T1. Hurry up Kaineng! And hi to my friends from SOS.. I’m missing my fellow SOSers.

with the current NA coverage we have, i don’t think we could put a balanced fight in T1. see attachement…

With the way tier one is atm, I don’t think any servers can put up a balanced fight there. The combination of most of the core SoS guilds (former top server) and the strength of Blackgate (at the time of merging, it was the fourth best server and was on it’s way to third) seems to be on par with JQ atm (no idea how much of this is some guilds haven’t finished transferring and JQ or BG guilds pulling longer shifts, the natural strength of these two servers won’t be clear for another couple of weeks). It took the merging of two of the strongest servers in the game to compete with the population and coverage of JQ after the transfers, that’s how unhealthy tier one is. Unless there are mass transfers somewhere (and given how quickly it happened to BG from SoS, it’s possible this will happen sooner than we think) tier one is a two server match. If I had to guess, either SoR or JQ could be the next to fall. Even if JQ wins this week, how long before people burn out causing their numbers and coverage to drop before they are no longer first every week? If BG is strong enough, it could damage JQ morale enough to send them to tier two or below. All it takes is for a few fair weather guilds to jump ship before the snowball effect begins, when players and guilds spend too much time in tier one, they seem to think it’s somehow different from other tiers (it’s not, the coverage and numbers are the only difference). Just hope your server doesn’t go tier one, or if it does, it’s a short trip. Without transfers you can’t compete with the stacked servers and the longer you spend there, the more inflated egos become and the more damage it does to your server. As soon as you can’t feed the egos, it all goes south.

I don’t think Kaineng wants to go tier one. It’s a shame SoS, before all the bandwagon guilds poached the remaining core WvW guilds, didn’t get to fight Kaineng. I think tier two would have been really competitive with SoS and their former oceanic and SEA strength, it’s something I think is missing for Kaineng in tier two. At the moment I don’t think there is a strong Oceanic/SEA presence in tier two for Kaineng to fight (most of those guilds are in tier one on either JQ or BG, SoR has a few too). If Kaineng went tier one, I think they’d be automatic third place.

JQ Player here! Hold just a minute…

Things have been in a bit of consolidation mode as of late it seems. Isle of Janthir going to Fort Aspenwood , Stormbluff Isles going to both Kaineng and Jade Quarry, and now Sea of Sorrows going to Blackgate. As current Tier 1 stands things between JQ and BG are really quite good. Coverage is near even as far as anyone can tell and this week it has basically been a fight of who wants it more. JQ overall as far as I have seen during my playtime which is NA Prime no one really has been playing any more than we normally do, maybe some of us are being a little more serious than usual but extended marathon WvW sessions? Not from where I am sitting.

Yes right now there are 2 true T1 servers and that pretty much is going to cause a reverse situation from a few months ago (everyone remember the HoD, JQ, SBI, ET issue of 4 Tier 1 servers and one always being stuck in T2 and facerolling it all week?). We still have 1 server being the odd man out but this time they are in T1 and pretty much the third wheel. No matter who goes into T1 right now be it FA, Kain, or TC they will fall the same fate as SoR or worse.

Really the only thing that would balance out T1 into a real 3 way fight is for two of the current T2 servers to merge together. Pretty much either FA or SoR need to merge with Kaineng (or Kaineng with one of them) as that would be the only way for them to even come close to the 24/7 coverage of current BG and JQ.

EU does have stronger guilds to fight than NA. Although the recent loss of KAZ hurts quite a bit.

You can’t really claim that since you have yet to really fight all of the guilds on NA as you have for EU. Just like I can’t say NA guilds are better than EU guilds since I have not fought all of the EU guilds. Though please feel free to come back to NA T1 sometime and not be on JQ ;-)

You should set yer alarm clock and wake up for a few minutes during the week very early in the morning (exact times may vary) and check EB as more often than not we will have rolled the entire map.

The REAL issue with T1 is that I spent 5 hours last night rolling with numerous guilds on numerous maps destroying every JQ zerg with only 1 wipe (due to culling that isn’t 100% fixed yet). We took everything we attacked and wiped every enemy. I get back home from work, and we’re down 50k. The REAL issue with T1 and all of WvW is that it hardly lacks skill if you have the coverage.

Orly? First off where were you playing? Cause it couldn’t have been the same Tier 1 match that I am playing in. I was in WvW all day and night yesterday and not on a single map did JQ ever lose their 3rd so I am not sure who you were dominating and taking locations from.

WvW is not about open field battles, it is not about wiping zergs. WvW is about holding locations as long as possible to maintain a high PPT and having the highest score at the end of the week.

Still so much talk about Red Guard, so tell me again how much PPT have they ever contributed to their server? WvW has been and forever will be about the score at the end of the week. This thread being about the most powerful guild in WvW means who actually brings the most PPT at the end of the week to the server they are on.

PRX has a very long track record of taking points and keeping them. EMP as well has a great track record of holding locations against the odds and maintaining a good PPT on their map. SF on JQ, War Machine on Kaineng, RET on FA, TW on SoR, PiNK on TC, FoE on SoS(now BG), and HB on BG. These guilds do what it takes to maintain their server’s holdings and fight for the best possible outcome at the end of the week.

My guild has a thing we like to call “non-value added fights” where if something we are doing will have really no effect on the flow of the map or a negative one then we don’t engage in it or we just give up and move on to a more “value added” location/fight.

WvW is about the PPT when you are online and playing, that is what the game mode revolves around. Trying to put in “non-value added” things like GvG and some open field encounters as important in WvW is just silly.

I personally never have a problem with Confusion or really any conditions period, but that’s probably cause I am playing a condi-removal Staff Ele and my groups rarely ever have more than a single stack of anything for more than a second or two.

Portal right now is within the realm of reasonable, but saying that it is not a required tool on the field just shows how little you actually know about WvW.

It’s ok, Mesmer already has the most overpowered and game breaking skills in WvW. ANet obviously has no intentions of ever bringing the class back in line with the others.

Confusion is easily dealt with, just need people to run a little support with condition removal, not hard just everyone wants to do LEET DEEPZ.

What is a problem:
- Time Warp effects siege in WvW.
- Portal even post nerf is still required on the field to be even remotely effective compared to a team without a Mesmer running it.
- Veil can stealth an ENTIRE SERVER with absolutely no internal cooldown or “revealed” debuff like with other forms of stealth.

All this talk about Red Guard. Never had the chance to fight them and would REALLY love to get the chance as I have very high confidence in being able to beat them on their terms.

However Red Guard is a completely worthless guild as for as I can tell, when they came to my server Jade Quarry all they did was take up valuable WvW slots they do nothing for the PPT and in general I would rather have PuGs on my map than them.

As far as best guild/server I wonder who would win between Vizunah Square and Jade Quarry right now I bet it would be an awesome week of WvW. Both server have been T1 forever.

Zerg vs Zerg is the best part of WvW. In current day Tier1 it has in many cases become more of a Guild vs Guild. Zerg 1 mostly of one guild and some randoms vs Zerg 2 mostly of another guild and some randoms. May the best and most organized team win. 30-40 vs 30-40 when both sides are organized and running special builds and class synergies for large scale combat make WvW what it is now. It’s amazing and I really would love to see a Structured version of this put into the game. We can call it GvG even, I think this was done in another game before but I can’t be sure.

Yes lets nerf the only source of condition damage Mesmer have. Seriously though if yer getting kitten by confusion then DONT ATTACK! Cleanse yourself or start using a skill/heal that does then go back to attacking. That or you know don’t fight a mesmer and someone else alone.

I actually enjoy being greatly outnumbered by jq and pushing them back. Feels more epic. Last night we held onto wood haven forever with 15 ppl in our bl against 30 and then another jq zerg joined in. We where like “how many people do you need!?” It was so much fun pushing them away and pulling back. I’m just glad they can be disorganized outside eb otherwise it would have ended real fast! Just wish Anet would reward holding on vs overwhelming odds in the future.

I could very much see ANet lowering the map cap to 70-80. Also to those questioning the OP’s information you do know who that is right? None of the issues all off us are reporting right now have been the case weeks ago before the Jan 28th update. I been playing in Tier 1 for a long time and the queues have NEVER been like this before. Something is wrong with the systems, I really hope they take the time to look into it instead of just scoffing at us and saying we should pay to transfer to a underpopulated server…

Everyone voting that it is worse I guarantee are running this game on sub-par systems. This new culling system is a vast improvement and for those of us playing this game on higher end systems have very little issue with culling at all. Then again people complaining about not being able to see their allies over not being able to see their enemies are just bad at this game anyway.

Been seeing this as well on Jade Quarry, we will have a queue on map yet only really be able to find around 40 people. Where the hell are the only 50 or so? Why is there a 30min-1hour Queue yet so few people on the map. I have looked everywhere and I can’t find any large number of PvE players roaming around or people in the Jumping Puzzle. It just doesn’t add up, there must be something wrong with the system.

As someone with a really good computer, culling is next to non-existent for me in most situations and when I do have some it is when there are over 100+ players all in the same small area. The culling change is great and I hope ANet doesn’t revert it again. If you are having more problems now then before it is cause your computer is trash, the new system requires more resources on the player’s end which is fine cause my computer was not getting stressed by GW2 to begin with. It is about time ANet stopping programming for the lowest common denominator.

You do know that this recent patch was a PvE Patch with minor updates to WvW. The MAJOR WvW patch is scheduled for Feb, which is next month so just hold on.

Then what do you suggest, we go back to fighting against a massive perma-invisible army that only renders after you are all dead? How is that even remotely better? At least as it stands now both sides can see who they are fighting. Again, seeing your enemy is more important than seeing your allies.

Considering that Anet has said they don’t like zerging and are looking for ways to reduce it, it seems silly that culling is now hurting smaller groups instead of the zergs. Hopefully Anet can find a mutually beneficial solution, at lest until they make zerging obsolete (if that’s even possible).

I don’t see what the problem is, when you are in a smaller group fighting other smaller groups there is no culling at all. There is only culling when you come up against a 40+ player zerg ball, and at that point you are all going to normally get steamrolled anyway.

Please, do something about downed state.

This topic is soo dumb. You need to get better at double downing people. Downed State adds another layer of complexity to PvP in this game which is awesome and something that needs to stay in a non-trinity MMORPG.

yeah now you just can’t tell if the pugs are still with you or whether they have run off, they keep blinking in and out. The trial was heavily criticized when it was trialed several weeks back and now that its back its just as annoying.
To follow a commander now I have to constantly watch my mini-map because s/he keep disappearing and reappearing in the zerg, I never know if I missed a call to WP or its just culling.
Went to garrison the other day, no one there but myself, needed to make some superior siege, realized I hadn’t gotten mats out of the bank for it, went looking for the golem banker and he wasn’t there. Walked around lords room for 90 seconds until culling decided to make him appear.

I am well aware that things like this are happening, but in PvP being able to see your enemy is vastly more important than being able to see your allies. One is trying to kill you the other is not (usually >.>). As to the commander thing, that is actually not an issue, the blue commander icon will show over the players head even while they are invisible due to culling so you should never have a problem following a commander.

I really hope ANet doesn’t yet again listen to the rabble and revert culling back to the travesty it was before. WvW in this game is soo vastly better than it has been since launch. I am begging everyone at ANet to not listen to complainers like these who will never be happy with anything and just leave it the way it is till you are able to fix it completely.

The entire guild of Strike Force (Jade Quarry) loves culling the way it is right now, please don’t re-ruin WvW for us.

None of you here must play in Tier 1 or even Tier 2? The culling system now is vastly better than anything they have had period. When my team of 40+ is fighting against another team of 60+ I can give a kitten about seeing my own team, we all know where we are and the commander tag is visible even when culled so we know where to be even if our entire zerg is culled. What is important is that no longer am I fighting against a giant army of nothing but now I can actually see a good portion if not all of the enemy players which is soo incredibly important in any sort of PvP situation that nothing else should ever come before it.

This culling system is amazing and WvW is playable again. I look forward to the day when it can be removed completely but as it stands now this current system is 1000x better than the crap we had before. Now we can actually strategy and move troops in the field instead of just swing and nothing and pray that you get numbers.

ANet I just have to put a voice of positive feedback on your current state of culling since Jan 28th. No matter what anyone says WvW has finally become playable for me and my guild. For the first time ever we can actually see the enemies we are fighting!

From those of us fighting in NA Tier 1, thank you ANet and please please please don’t revert culling back to the way it was again!!!!

SBI is not dead!!!! SBI is not dead!!!!

Every server in this game has been getting hit in WvW numbers. People quitting GW2 people quitting WvW participation. Attrition is hitting all servers not just SBI. However people are over reacting due to War Machine taking our Oceanic presence away and while that will severely damage our score at the end of the week it does not at all effect the other time slots that we have been kicking the kitten of since this game came out.

I firmly believe that going into Tier 2 for a week or two will do wonders for SBI as a whole. Getting to fight 2 new servers we have NEVER faced before is going to be great! New guilds to fight new zergs to steamroll over and new players to stomp. It has been a very long time since I have seen something other than Jade Quarry, Sea of Sorrows, or Blackgate Invader/Defender. It will be a very well needed breath of fresh air.

To everyone else on SBI, GET OUT THERE AND FIGHT. This may be the last week for a little while that we get to do dirty things to SoS and JQ. And when the match ends this week and we do end up green in Tier 2 it will be time to prove ourselves as still relevant in the grand scheme of WvW, no mercy and no taking it easy. I plan on going 110% all week first week of Tier 2!

If yer looking for serious open field PvP domination then no other server will deliver on that better than SBI.

Hoschi, nailed it pretty kitten hard.

Amity, everytime I hear a SoS commander talk about “working on tactics” which they seem to say a lot in the forums (both here and GW2Guru) the only thing I ever can picture in my head is everytime said zergs just roll over and die each and every time I see them while running with the [SF] team.

Jedahs, careful it’s not a good idea to give away server secrets in the open like that, even jokingly
