Population is low on my server

Well not zero – I was exaggerating. But is it just me or does it seem like no one plays this game anymore? LA is dead. WvW is dead. All the highly populated areas feel like ghost towns…

Like any other game, it’s no fun when no one’s playing.

The game has been dying at an extremely fast pace, Anet has not stuck to their promises and released mechanics into the game that were never supposed to be there, causing people that didn’t like these changes to leave and with the hype from the game gone they are not able to increase the population as noone can trust Anets ability to deliver compelling content.

“3. We are missing engame challenges, raids AND the grind for better loot.
Yes yes, I/we know. GW2 is a mmo where endgame gear stats are capped for all, and easy to get to. Its all about finding better looking gear, and stand out in the crowd..
- That is just fine, if Arenanet want GW2 to loose players all the time from boredom.”

This x3,000, this is the biggest problem with the game hands down, it ruined the entire game and made it no fun and the most boring MMO to date. Fix it please.

this game is not dead.

go on blacktide EU and see what i mean. i see more people running around then in WOW.

Lol kinda funny they say this game is dead.
sometimes there like around 10 people at one event..

The game IS dying, can’t argue that, and you can’t just source one server and say the game is fine lol. Play outside your server and you will see what the OP is talking about.
And the only way your seeing more people on GW2 is if you were to compare a low pop wow server to a high pop Gw2 server, several million more people play wow lol….

I think players have to look forward and not back when evaluating your gaming experience. WoW is not a genre, it and its clones are just one way to do multi player in an MMO.

I always have hated instanced content it, it feels like I spend more time trying to find a group or waiting for other players to finally get ready to run it. The waiting to have fun and the lack of spontaneity is the downfall of the organised instanced group content and trinity mechanic.

GW2 tries to do it a bit different and offer a more spontaneous experience with it’s scaling group content peppered throughout the world.

Although these encounters take less of a coordinated effort and little communication on the part of the players the combat in GW2 offers a much more visceral and intuitive experience between players.

Fear not however, by the looks of things more instanced content appears to be on the way with dungeons like the Fractals being added to the end game.

What remains to be seen is if both an open world group dynamic event system and an instanced endgame can remain viable long term.

Irrelivent WoW was not mentioned nor was WoW the inventor of endgame content and large groups…

Isn't it interesting?

I’ve read this forum now for some time and seen a lot of complaints, demands rage quitting etc.
Yet when the devs do something good and actually show they listen to players, there’s very little thanks for it.
For eg: I’ve seen people ask for Anet to add Rare Items bank slot, show some form of map completion, fix various bugs, etc and they did.
In the last update many good things were done including the above, which shows they DO listen and take note of what we say, yet there’s hardly any posts that acknowledge their efforts and say thank you.
Well I for one would like to say thanks Anet for listening to us and for great improvements you are making to the game.
Keep up the good work and Merry Christmas to you all!

Once again lol, they get a paycheck. Our thanks to them is taking our hard earned money and purchasing the game, an enjoyable game for $60 is expected… Furthermore these threads occur daily so they get plenty of thanks.

This thread needs deleting, if you say something bad about the game it gets removed, leaving these threads up is sickening to see hipocracy, you have to take the good with the bad, now remove please just like my countless posts about the clear problems with game you still have yet to address.

“It sucks when people do not realize the hard work you’ve put into a game”
This game is a product and the positive reinforcement is the paycheck they receive. It’s nothing more if you want to thank them do it in your own time, but a lot of people feel the game was poorly made and this is a slap in the face to them.

Foolish that you guys are crying about gear treadmills and grinding in an MMORPG. I mean how stupid can you be to buy into something like “horizontal progression”, it’s the same as NO progression. So stop crying and HOPE for vertical progression or enjoy your game dying at it’s current rate.

It’s the rate of progression that your worried about, not progression in itself, it should be assumed that if you quit playing GW2 for a year your going to have some work to do to get caught up, if not then why in the world would you even come back to begin with????

Just take one second to try your best and comprehend the situation, I’m sorry anet confused you all with their manifesto, It’s an MMORPG there will be progression of some sort don’t know why they would state differently.

This, boys and girls, is what a WoW player looks like. Someone who has never experienced gameplay beyond chasing bigger numbers from month to month. The idea of Guild Wars 1, where the stats introduced in 2005 were the same max stats in 2012 and yet the game remained successful is absolute voodoo to this type of player.

This complete lack of ability to comprehend a game type outside of the WoW mold is exactly why so many clones exist, and why this game is trying to join in on it. It’s sad, but true, that most MMO players honestly believe the above quoted statement

“Guild Wars 1, where the stats introduced in 2005 were the same max stats in 2012 and yet the game *remained successful” Thats why we needed a GW2 rite? The game was not successfull for the past few years whatsoever, this one is already on the fast track to failing (check any site that has a population ticker) WoW on the other hand has remained popular because they engage users and keep them playing unlike this game where you get your legendary and your done. Thanks for your input, even though it’s completely wrong. This game is not a good MMORPG no matter how you look at it.

Just the fact that you think GW1 was wildly popular when they released this shows how foolish you are, no company would make a product to compete with a current one if it was doing well lol, it was not received well by the western audience hence why you have GW2…….

This game is awesome!

I wonder about the psychology of people who hang around posting on forums of games they don’t like, sniping at anybody who expresses a positive opinion.

Don’t you people ever think ‘Hmm, doing literally anything else with my life right now would be more productive than this’? Don’t you have jobs? Family? Hobbies? Anything at all going on in your life?

Pretty sure it’s just people that were kitten about spending $60 to get what they thought would be an MMORPG, and instead got whatever this game is trying to be. And the only time I come to these forums is when I’m bored at work, I just think it’s funny because Anet hasen’t actually solved a single problem with the game since it’s release they have only managed to kitten more people off.

you are all incredible, all of you kittening and whining about how to or not to get the gear, NONE OF YOU actually think you have nothing to do with it after you get it, that’s the real issue of this game.

110% correct, anet took the end out endgame because the current players won’t allow there to be any, this is partially anets fault with the manifesto. Have fun getting your one gear set and doing NOTHING with it, the game never changes levels aren’t needed you do the same thing you do at level 1 at level 80.

Yes go use a third party website for a feature that should be in a AAA game title but still isn’t despite them taking a drastically dungeon focused approach. No one else finds this to be a problem?

They did originally say (explorable) dungeons would be the hardest content in the game designed for a group of coordinated players, aka not PuGs. If you keep that in mind, it explains why dungeons can seem PuG unfriendly (no grouping system, instances tied to the leader).

I get it, instead of making the content hard, just make it hard to find a group, makes peeerfect sense.

I get the feeling (but correct me if I am wrong) that you run into a lot of hackers/exploiters :P

CoD had similar exploits though (like being able to get under the floor) and that was a console game that got fixed. So when I am sure these things will get fixed soon enough!

Exactly lol, it got fixed, and I’m sure within a reasonable time frame, many games that I play have had hacking and exploiting issues it’s just what happens now a days. The fact that Anet can’t do anything to stop it is the problem.

Holy hells, do we play the same CoD? Some days I cannot find a decent game without the wallhackers and the auto-aimers. It’s quite the opposite of a hack free game.

Just because they are better than you doesen’t mean they are hacking lol, I get called hax all day on CoD by people like you. Now if your playing CoD 2 or something that clearly is no longer supported or moderated then your just being foolish to compare the two.

I can also find proof that the world will end in 11 days on google. The fact that you find hacks for GW2 via google doesn’t mean they actually work, or still work.

The guardian you saw can just as well be rendering issues. In jumping puzzles I sometimes see other players fall off and then suddenly “teleport” back to where they were.

This is irrellivent, we’re past arguing the fact that they exist lol, they are there and you can see them at any point during the day or on youtube or on google. This isn’t a conspiracy theory and they are there and working and Anet is not doing enough to stop them.

Here is a list of working hacks, from a quick google. Anet if you can’t stop blatant hacking like this you have no business making a game. I’m in complete aww when I quit I was expecting this to be taken care of in a week, I come back to watch a guardian teleporting around the map hitting creeps through terrain at infinate range. Your developement team should be beyond embarrassed.

The list.
- God Mode (infinite health)
- Magic Find Hack
- Invisibility
- Cool Down Hack
- Wallhack (noclip)
- Speedhack
- Flying Hack
- Teleport Hack
- Auto Looting

Goodbye everyone, and good luck, the Anet team does not have the skills needed to make this game work, time to devote my time to something else.

Where is everyone?

Lack of Change and Improvements - Ailing GW2

Khemizt.5104

There is no way to improve this game. If they add new bosses they can’t add new loot because people would cry about a treadmill, and they can’t add more challenging bosses (just different mechanics) because there is no gear progression, the community ruined this game and Anets failed marketing doomed them. Anet now realizes this mistake and tried to fix it and the community went nuts, there is nothing to do now but let GW2 die out.

There is no way to keep this game fresh and fun without progression there is no progression without the treadmill, once you guys figure this out then Anet can get on with fixing gw2

Everything has been broken for over a week now I am going to cry. Is this how you treat PvE players??

The botters have just moved to another method using hacks to transport where they are going instead of running in trains, nothing has changed other than the long line of botters, this wasn’t done by anet it was done by the botting company to lower bans of their users. Just because you can no longer see the problem doesn’t mean its not there.

Love how you bash other games, but the real truth of the matter is that botter/exploiting here is far worse than in wow or most other MMO’s, on anets server there are people using real hacks, not just bots, people no cliping etc it’s a very sad thing to see that anet cannot stop live hacks from working on their server.

There is no other way to make a MMO other than using the treadmill. Theres no progression without a treadmill… How do you guys not see that, how can sitting in the same gear since you turned level 80, and downing bosses that don’t vary in toughness be fun!?

Not really. Over 7 years, Guild Wars 1 had zero power creep.

And thats why the game was only popular for a few months, they are trying to stop that from happening to this game.

GW1 was insanely popular for several YEARS. Heck, people STILL log in to play it to this day which means the servers are still running… so there’s money coming from somewhere.

The term insanely popular would not describe the game in the NA market, it had a huge following and dwindled away a few months after launch. You were left with koreans and the few die hards.

I know it’s been a hard concept to grasp for this community so let me explain, without the use of treadmills your game will continue to die at it’s current pace, Anets marketing team see’s this change and is doing something to fix it and a team of people, much smarter than you, decided this was the best way of making the game more appealing to other players, and to keep it’s current player base relatively stable.

Having played numerous MMO’s I eventually identified the one characteristic which drove me away from all of them. The gear treadmill. A gear treadmill is a linear design concept where every time new content is released, new gear is added with higher stats, effectively making all previous acquired gear obsolete (As well as your previous time & effort).

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/linsey-murdock-unveils-new-high-end-ascended-gear/

“This is just the beginning. In November, we’re only adding the first level of Infusions and Ascended Rings and Back slots, so that leaves us a lot of room to build upon these levels of Item progression in future content.

As we release more new end game content in the future, you’ll see more Infusions and Ascended item types being added to the game. Eventually, you’ll be able to kit yourself out with a full set of Ascended gear and high end Infusions to help give you the edge in end game content."

Perhaps I am misinterpreting your meaning but what I am reading as a customer is:

“We are going to continue to add better gear with addition of every content update rendering your previous gear void & oh yeah, your friends who haven’t logged on in a few months they will no longer be able to do content with you because they are not ascended.”

Now if I am not mistaken in GW2’s mission statement/manifesto was it not stated that GW2 would “NOT” be a gear treadmill based MMO?

WVW and , bosses CAN be tougher, and they can be fun, you just need to counter them with skill instead of stats

Sure, then whats the point of killing that boss if he drops the same gear you are wearing!? That’s the problem with the game and what they are fixing, leaving the game without a treadmill would leave in the boring static state that it’s in now.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/linsey-murdock-unveils-new-high-end-ascended-gear/

There is no other way to make a MMO other than using the treadmill. Theres no progression without a treadmill… How do you guys not see that, how can sitting in the same gear since you turned level 80, and downing bosses that don’t vary in toughness be fun!?

“A well thought-out “endgame”

Thats your answer look no further, the game was rushed the endgame was unfinished thousands upon thousands of people left the game because there was nothing to do after full exotics that took only a week to obtain, which resulted in the mess they are having now. The endgame was not thought out and they let botting run rampant, now they are playing catch-up to fix it before everyone is gone.

it doesn’t matter what other games you have played, this is not those games

give the new content a try and see how it works

its ok to express your concerns or fears, but to outright say you have been betrayed, or scammed, or that you are quitting because of this, is simply idiotic

PLAY the content, THEN give feedback

right now everyone is taking speculation as fact, without even giving the ideas and content a chance

FROM THE GOLDEN RULES OF GUILD WARS 2:

Take risks
“Let’s try it.” You hope to hear that phrase at the end of a meeting, especially if that meeting was contentious, or if the idea discussed is new and radical.
Imagine a playground full of kids playing. At its best, playing is making mistakes in a safe environment and learning from those mistakes in a way that encourages growth. Trying out new ideas or making drastic changes is the way we as designers get to play with the game. It’s where we slip and fall, scrape our knees, and otherwise monkey around on the jungle gym. While we don’t try out every idea, we use our collective experience to get a sense for what has promise—what we should follow down the rabbit hole. We look at where our ideas break, how they break, and why they break. "

The game was terrible on release and still is now, “it doesn’t matter what other games you have played, this is not those games”. Clearly, the MMO’s I play are fun unlike this mess of a game, $60 for a week of boredom! I’ll never buy an MMO on release thanks to this company!

Game Already Dying?

Fresh Meat is required, and it will come after the new Halloween patch.

Really? Which are the new features that they will release after the patch?
Also, Fresh Meat as you called it, wont come after a new patch, if anything, the people that already quit, will come back to see the changes and then quit again.

The game is obviously dying. My character is all maxed, exotic, runes, etc., he even looks the way I always wanted, all that after 2 months. The only thing that I don’t have is a Legendary, which honestly, it’s not worth to spend the time for.

Also, I don’t think that adding new stuff will change anything at all, the result will be the same, a desolated game soon. Why? Because the mechanics of the game makes it boring after a while, I wont spend more hours just to make my character look a lil different than before, there’s no real reward.

At least you got 2 good months out of the game, I was finished in just under a month huge waste of $60.

Yes the game is dying at very fast pace, and for good reason this endgame in my opinion is the very worst offered at the launch of an mmo, the entire endgame is this, spend a week getting full exotics, make a legendary weapon, done.

There is no progression there is no ladders, there is nothing to do but waste your time, there is no fulfillment in playing after the aforementioned.

For all you forcing players away by telling them to go back to wow, you are ruining your own game because the odds are they will do exactly that, for many this game is an escape from wow but in it’s current state it will not keep players entertained for long. Just some food for thought.

Can somebody block this thread, makes me sad bunny reading this.

For the second time please don’t troll my threads!

It’s a troll thread, why not troll it? Wanna know the answer to your question? if you don’t like the game, don’t play it. No need to post about it, just quit and move on.

Threads dead bro, Thanks for your input. To reiterate:

“Bassically what I’ve gathered from all the people that is defending the games current state is that it was made for casual players and has nothing to offer the hardcore gamers (the players that will keep this game alive), thanks for the info going to buy MoP today.”
