Havoc's Heir Airship Improvement

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Khorthall.1682

Hello!

I am referring to the Airship you go to when using the Captain’s Airship Pass that takes you to one of the lounges. Something I think should happen what with the new lounges and how well they have improved..

This Airship should be upgraded to the much larger Pact Airships! You know, the one used to kill (SPOILERS!) Zhaitan?

This would give much more room and more things Anet could add that would make this a better lounge! I also think this should be moved somewhere else instead of over Vigil Keep! This is Ellen Kiel’s Airship correct? So why not move it over Lion’s Arch? I think that’d be a much better view!

Thank you!

Since the new Siren’s Landing Map, I’ve been getting a lot more books and journals to read through in my inventory like Risen Research, Rose’s Journal, Parables of the Gods and I still have the old ones like Marjory’s Journal and Scarlet Briar’s Journal.

Could we have a place in our home instance where we can put our books into so they are all in one big place? Or some kind of magic tome that holds all of what we gathered into one?

Big thanks Anet!

Any word on a Calendar system being implemented ingame?

For example, Guild Calendars where we can schedule events, raids, pvp weekends along with seasonal releases from Arenanet such as Wintersday/Hallow’s Eve/Queen’s Jubilee?

Would like to see if anything related to this is ‘on the table’!

I was there when the game first came out and thus I witnessed how these zones were used for Living World Season 1. Yet now that we have come to re-playable content and knowing Season 1 will not be available as that, wouldn’t it be better to open these two instances up to the public?

I’d recommend opening them up, no longer to be instanced, and just add a Heart in each one. Gives new leveling players something cool to see and maybe put in some dialogue about the places that involve what happened during Season 1.

Thank you!

Can someone explained to me why blocked players can still do this?

I think it is ‘E’ for just a couple of reasons. He knows about Caudecus(?) who was apart of the White Mantle. My guess was he himself was apart of the White Mantle but only for terms of being a spy.. perhaps as apart of the Order of Whispers or on his own.

I mean, remember when he helped defend Aurene and Marjory came saying how he seemed ‘familiar’ and wanted to stick by him? Because she met him before.. when he was behind her during her investigation of the murdered young boy.

I think Marjory is familiar because she just sensed his ‘aura’ so to speak, being a Necromancer and all.

What confuses me is how can such a person absorb the power of a Bloodstone.. is it some sort of ancestor of a powerful hero long past? Is there any lore speculated about people who can absorb vast amounts of power? Perhaps from GW1?

My thoughts was that it is ‘E’ and he is hiding as a False Lazarus so to direct what White Mantle following him against the Elder Dragons and perhaps make them more of an ally to Tyria rather than an enemy. What’s causing the White Mantle to put a bad name for themselves is Caudacus, thus he wants him dead.

A Guild Calendar!

Khorthall.1682

So as the title says, any chance that there might be a small side project for a Guild Calendar of sorts?

It could be something pretty basic that could help with a number of things…

For one, I am someone who enjoys Roleplaying on this game along with PvE! Planning out RP Events is something many enjoy be it with their friends, guild or to meet new people. This is done on the GW2 RP Website’s calendar but I would like it if there was a way to put it up on our very own calendar in-game instead of having your guild go check a website.

Speaking of Events, how about stuff in general within the game? Perhaps it could be used to plan a day and time for a get-together for the Raid, Dungeon or Fractals. Perhaps there is an assigned day for the Guild Missions.

It’s also valuable for Anet to let us know about Special Events like the Lunar New Year or upcoming Holidays for when they begin to where they end. Things like the PvP weekends where we get the Mists Boon.

Finally, this may be going a bit further, but what if we could use the Calendar to check World Boss Timers? Perhaps there is a setting that informs us of when the Shatterer or Claw of Jormag spawns. Even the new HoT Maps could be involved, for when Nightfall happens in Verdant Brink, how much longer until Octovine, Chak Garent and even the battle of Dragon Stand.

Could be a cool addition I think to inform the guild on weekly events as well as inform us of what is going on in the game. It’d be almost like a way to involve Customized Player Events with the World Boss Timers.

We got Shatterer! How about Triple Trouble?

Khorthall.1682

I understand that the difficulty of the World Boss is pleasing, I did use to raid back in WoW and I enjoyed it myself, what I just don’t enjoy is that -that- is raiding where you know you have veteran players and people who know what to do. It’s just hard in this scenario because you don’t know the players and can get unlucky that no one listens or coordinates or knows what to do which is why it’s good to have those Organized guilds help out such as TTS or EVOS (Right?) but even then you have hundreds wanting to be with them cause they know it will succeed which gives the chance you are not in their maps and stuck on one with say the Exact amount of people you need but NO Coordination.

I’ll keep on trying though, the hours apart between each TT is what bothers me because it really limits me of how many times I can do it each day.

Thanks for the feedback all! I can see that the Wurm fight itself doesn’t need to be changed just moreso … learning it easier and coordinating as well as being on the right map.

Khorthall.1682

I must just be very unlucky then with this boss for the past few weeks, I tried at each wurm but if the new number is 30 then I don’t see why many maps practically give up if their taxi-map gets full, I see about 50-60 or so it’s good to know we have enough and could taxi in more if needed. I’ve just seen the wurm fights where it seems 50 seems most needed unless there’s just a portion that don’t know what to do with it.

Again, I must just be unlucky. Perhaps I just need to find these communities who do these organized runs, so far I’ve only known of TTS and had a hard time getting into those maps.

Would be nice if the LFG had a ‘World Boss’ section for the Prime Bosses. And I only brought up Tequatl and Karka Queen because they were counted as being the Main World Bosses right? At least I thought so but I’m only going by the Guild Challenge as you can only do those bosses specifically.

I’ll just keep on trying then!

I will do my best to keep this simple!

With the Heart of Thorns Bosses and now with the new Shatterer, I see Anet has done remarkably on large World Boss battles! This brings me to one that I think needs to be IMMEDIATELY changed!

The Evolved Jungle Wurm! Please hear me out..

It involves practically a FULL MAP of people, at least 50 for each of the THREE Wurm Bosses. Before HoT and Living World 2 content, this was probably the most difficult boss and I think it’s time for it to be changed. My reasons are as follows.

Too Many People – I think the people needed should be reduced, I’ve seen countless wait practically an hour to keep their spot on what hopes to be the Organized map in case it gets full. The fact you need so many people that it fills a map is quite insane for a boss like this. Take Dragon Stand. Three lanes, multiple events, bosses, big epic boss in the end, the entire map is made for that which leads me to the TOP reason!

Difficulty – How is it that anyone can join something like the Vinewrath in Silverwastes, Octovine in Auric, Dragon Stand, etc… and after a few tries, you know what to do to a point where you are not dependent on a guild.

I bring up Guild because for example, TTS, has organized maps for Triple Trouble, but even then they can’t do -every single map- that opens nor -every single time- the event comes to spawn. So if you become unlucky enough to not get into their full map, it’s basically hopeless now.. even when I’ve seen the ‘left out’ map have about +50 people waiting at the start.. but still can’t do it.

Shouldn’t this be a tad easier? Tequatl and Karka Queen have been mastered but ever since Triple Trouble was released, it’s still so difficult because it’s not just the boss but now getting into a full map and following a guild’s schedule.

Take this scenario for example. You wait an hour until the event begins. All who showed up were lucky enough to get Taxi’d to a ‘full map’ which leaves you and about 30-50 others in your situation. You decide to wait next time only to find out it’s not on the guild’s schedule thus there is no organization. Not to mention next time is HOURS away due to it being a prime boss like Teq or Karka Queen.

I think since we’ve reached Heart of Thorns, this boss should be just ‘slightly’ reduced to be more doable for people who put in their time waiting and hoping.

Hero Panel - Equipment Menu Suggestion

Khorthall.1682

Hello, throughout my time playing Gw2 I have come across many things that now sit in my bank because, I don’t want to destroy them but I also don’t want them sitting in my inventory all the time as I go around Tyria.

I’d like to suggest an addition to the Equipment Menu (Wardrobe, Outfits, Dyes, Etc) and have it named Miscellaneous or what other title suits it. This could have sections to hold items, for example…

Toys – Pirate Sword, Frying Pan, Scepter of Thorn, Etc. A place for all of the Costume Brawl Toys to be.

Instruments – Musical Frame Drum, Musical Lute, Etc. A place for the Musical Instruments to be.

Tonics – With the large quantity of tonics, this could be an option to place only the Endless tonics as they are quite rare to come by or those given as a reward like the Infinite Watchknight Tonic.

Traveling – Sonic Tunneling Tool, Magic Carpet, Etc. Things that give us a different style to travel are placed here.

Other – Birthday Blaster, Flames of Kryta, Zephyr Sanctum Model, Scarlet Briar’s Journal, Hot Air Balloon Souvenir, Etc. These are items that do not have a category, items that are for fun that have been rewarded throughout the time of the game.

This could prove nicely as a section of the Equipment Menu. It could be fun for the players who only need to go to this section and maybe double-click on the icon and have it used right then as if it was in their inventory, or maybe just get a copy of it in their inventory. I find it’d be an improvement for people who want to use these but don’t want to fill up their bags with every single one.

I hope this could be added to the game sometime. Feedback is appreciated.

You have challenged us as we’ve struck down power hungry villains, massive beasts and titanic dragon champions. We’ve fought against Molten alliances, ground shaking Marionettes and devastating assaults against Lion’s Arch!

Now is the time to prove our legend as we fight further into the depths of a new enemy! New minions that shall trample what we’ve learned, to show who is ready and who is not, to test who will stand their ground and who will run away!

Return the Mighty Mordrem! Let their hammers turn the ground to rubble, their arrows pierce through our armor like feathers while their wild corrupted beasts shred every limb of our form!

We’ve been ready Arenanet! We stand atop the corpse of the Shatterer, the Claw, Tequatl and even Zhaitan! You know this! Now give us something that will eat us alive!

Take away the nerf from the NPC enemies!!!

More to Lion's Arch?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Khorthall.1682

So I was traveling through the new Lion’s Arch and I began to notice that buildings were still being constructed basically high up around the Commodore’s Quarter.

With the Guild Initiative Headquarters and Aerodome closed off, no doubt the doors to them will open with the coming expansion, I was curious if we were to see more additions to the city? I for one want Dragon Bash to come back!

And being on this topic, I would LOVE for the other racial cities to get some of that love! Perhaps all the construction and festival games in Divinity’s Reach finally open up for us, I’ve been dying to know what’s in that huge tent right of the Plaza of Dwayna WP.

How about that Black Citadel? We have the Queen’s Gauntlet in Divinity’s Reach, how about that Coliseum becomes something too? Teams/Solo duking it out with giant beasts or with each other, maybe even call it Meatoberfest only inside the Black Citadel? Open it up with some of that Bar Brawl activity we were teased about awhile back.

I know everyone is already begging for Polymock in Rata Sum and seeing as the SAB is still there, what more would it need? Besides for SAB to come back, sooner or later. But as for a big seasonal thing, I can already see the Rata Sum Air Races! Inventors of different airships showing there stuff to help both entertain and improve designs for the Pact fleet!

The Grove has all sorts of opportunities, perhaps a Harvest festival? Or maybe a new activity related to Plants vs Zombies? Only it’s Sylvari against Risen? Then again Zhaitan is dead….

That leaves Norn, probably the easy of them so far with their Kegbrawl going on. But what about the season? A Great Hunt? A Brew festival related to Octoberfest? An event crossed with World’s Strongest Man and Winter Olympics? Sled Racing, Keg Tossing, Ice Sculpting, the possibilities are endless.

The group event requiring to kill the Champion Mordrem Thrasher in the Iron Marches near Scourgejaw’s Vault is currently bugged.

The Champion will spawn and patrol his area without attacking or interacting at all when being attacked. He will take damage but just continue to patrol his route like nothing was attacking him until he either dies or his event timer runs out.

I currently would like him to interact to drop those vials we must drink so I can get my achievement.

And I apologize to all the players who are mad I made this post, taking away their free Champion kill lol!

I’ll be this person.

For whoever voted they won’t get pre-purchase, someone new who has never played most likely did.

The price has been announced people, it won’t be reduced because those who did pre-purchase would need some form of money back. It’s too much of a mess to deal with.

Most Arenanet will do is giving something in their game, like a character slot or something.

Either way, that’s Anets price, you’re all free to go take your money elsewhere, be it a $60 game with a monthly subscription or one that you’d buy that will go free to play months later, it’s been happening a lot with recent MMORPG’s.

Guild Wars 2 is still here and if they continue to pursue with content like they did with Dry Top and Silverwastes, Permanent content every few weeks for free? That makes up the $50 you paid for. It’s not only about what content we are getting with the expansion, but also the content we are getting after.

I remember a post by Arenanet long ago that all the existing dungeons will receive revamps/overhauls, I have noticed the change with the final bosses in Ascalonian Catacombs, was this just specific dungeons or has there been changes that I have not noticed so far?

Then again I hear that conditions are not affected by armor, so Vitality (Soldiers) would be better yes? Hmm.

Khorthall.1682

Now before we start, I’ve been playing the game since beta and have had my share of WvW, PvP and PvE. I’ve mained a Guardian most time and have watched the community grow through PvE with dungeons, events and general play.

Before the endless responses of “Zerk this, Zerk that, Go ZerkZerkZerk” that I have read on countless of other threads involving Toughness, back in 2013 even, I really just want people to reply to this with BOTH OF US knowing about Zerk.

Think of it this way, I have full ascended Zerk armor and I would still like to ask the question.

Is there a difference with how much Toughness a character can have? Could all out toughness that leads to high armor go from being 2-shotted to actually taking multiple hits from the > PvE < content?

Now I do know the fine line of ‘Survival’ and ‘Damage’ and how the two are quite similar. But this is where I view > PvE < content. If I wanted to be a high Damager, I’d of gone a Warrior. For example, if I am in a dungeon, my main goal is not about MY damage but my allies. I want to keep them alive with decent damage of my own. So if I want to keep them alive longer, I want to be tough and not die in 2 shots which seem to happen to me often, but I do enjoy giving a lot of boons + might out.

Please read closely before anyone mentions about the game centralizing on Damage being the best defense, skilled dodges, blocks, and blinds only matter as well as saying ‘Go Zerk or Go Home’. I just want to better understand this from people who actually have an answer and know about toughness by their own experiences.

And yes, I do admit, I just want to see Toughness not being so pointless.. because if it is, why hasn’t Arenanet done anything with it?

Activities, Will we be seeing a change?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Khorthall.1682

Khorthall.1682

Going to try my best to express my ideas and keep this simple.

The activities in game, IE Kegbrawl, Southsun Survival, ETC, have always been fun for me but I do feel like they have been ‘pushed into the corner’ where as now there is only one of the activities available a day that rotate with each other. You now have to speak to an NPC in Lion’s Arch to join for it and also know which activity is available.

I would like to know if not only are we getting new activities added to the list but if any side work is being developed not only to have access to all games at the same time but the rewards and perhaps additions to them.

Rewards like a unique miniature of the three floating crystals from Sanctum Sprint. A finisher that shows arrows raining down on an enemy corpse from Southsun Survival. A tonic that transforms you into a keg that rolls around leaking ale from Kegbrawl.

Perhaps a new currency you get as a reward from all the activities that you can use to exchange for new items or even turning them in for the Queen’s Gauntlet tickets, Candy Corn, Dragon Bash Candy, Wintersday items, etc etc.

Activities REQUIRE a change as not only are they something fun to do in the community, much like mini-games, but there is no option to do them with your friends/guildmates as well, you are thrown in with random people.

I propose that all activities should have their own NPC around the world, much like how Kegbrawl is in Hoelbrak, so should Southsun Survival be in Southsun and Sanctum Sprint remain in Lion’s Arch (Maybe add a Zephyrite with a flying kite ship above him for effect).

Finally, I am still waiting for more activities to be added as was planned. I speak of the Polymock in Rata Sum, the Shooting Range in Divinity’s Reach, Bar Brawl in Black Citadel, and I was thinking of a Plant vs Risen (Plant vs Zombies spin-off) in the Grove so to balance out each race with their own fun activity.

I hope something like this is in the works! I know we do have an expansion on the way, so I agree all focus should go into that, this is something to just add into the fun with stuff to do in game.

Being a Roleplayer in the game, I like to take in any lore I can get with talking to NPC’s, doing any available events just for that extra detail of the area and never bother skipping through the story.

The books based around the Guild Wars 2 universe is something that just brings me deeper into the story and lore and I was curious if you, my fellow readers/players and Arenanet, could let me know on any teasers to more upcoming novels? Which is only a few days from Gw2 becoming its 2nd year since launch!

So what do you guys think Anet has planned for us? They mentioned after Dragon’s Reach Part 2, they are taking a break from the Living World.

I think this is because they want to do something special for its anniversary!

Please! Please! Please!

I would like to know what Anet’s plans are involving the Dragon Bash content that we very much enjoyed last year! I had very much fun with the Dragon Ball activity, it’s one of my top favorites along with walking through Lion’s Arch and spotting a giant hologram of a dragon in the sky!

I thought Dragon Bash was like the holiday for summer for Guild Wars 2, or was it more like a celebration involving the content that came right after?

I would very much like to see Dragon Bash return to Tyria! YES! I know that Lion’s Arch has been destroyed, but we have five other cities that no doubt could of taken over to host it. Perhaps that’s how it should be? With every year, a new city hosts Dragon Bash, introducing new decorations made by the races and new events inside their cities!

I for one was convinced that Dragon Bash was going to be hosted by the Zephyrites this year! LOL!

Anyway, I had to put this out there.

Any word if there will be a Dragon Bash this year Anet?

What could make a Guardian a -GUARDIAN-

in Guardian

Posted by: Khorthall.1682

Khorthall.1682

I actually started leveling a warrior when I saw just how awesome their Offensive support skills are. For instance, where a Guardian gives toughness to nearby allies, a Warrior gives -power-! Now -that’s- cool.. I wish Guardians did something else besides toughness, as you’re not so tough when condition damage ignores your armor.

The BEST one I saw so far for a warrior was called Phalanx Strength!

Phalanx Strength – When you grant yourself might, grant it to nearby allies as well. A range of 600, and so far.. I don’t see a cooldown. This is AMAZING support…

Guardians actually have something like this, and in my opinion the skill in general is PERFECT for a guardian.. we have Communal Defenses.

Communal Defenses – Grant Aegis to allies when you block an attack. A range of 360 with a 20 second cooldown. Great skill right? Until you see the range of it.. why is it so low? Our “Retreat” shout gives allies an Aegis at a range of 600, so shouldn’t this skill provide 600 range as well to make it like a double-save? It’s a Grandmaster skill for goodness sake, it should act like it to work with “Retreat” or Virtue of Courage!

I agree with the cooldown though, judging by how much block abilities we do have, but that range.. ouch.

Moving on, I am actually quite confused why Guardians even have the trait Battle Presence which basically causes our allies to gain our Virtue of Resolve. To put it simply, they gain regeneration at a range of 600… but, we already give our allies regeneration with symbols, Virtue of Resolve activation, and “Hold the Line!”

Shouldn’t Battle Presence become more like.. oh, I’m only throwing this out there but why not have nearby allies gain ALL THREE of the virtues? Sure, they get that Resolve, but now they burn enemies with every 4 hits and they gain an Aegis every 30-40 seconds? It’s not like they can activate them.. in a way, we just give more support if they are near us. Shouldn’t that be a Guardian? If you’re around a Guardian, then that person performs things that -GUARD- you.

On my final note, I will bring up Power of the Virtuous which basically increases our damage by 1% for each boon we have. This is my problem… Warriors have the same thing can it’s called Empowered.

Power of the Virtuous for Guardians requires 5 trait points in the Virtues tree.

Empowered for the Warriors requires 2 trait points in the Tactics tree.

Now of course this may seem unfair… but for one, Guardians do have ways to grant themselves more boons then Warriors. However, both of those tree lines improve Boon Duration. So if a Guardian who spent 5 points in Virtues to get that trait is partnered with a Warrior who only spent 2 points, and due to the Guardian gaining his boons which he also grants his allies, thus being the Warrior.. they are gaining the same increase in damage, but now the warrior is doing more damage with those 3 extra trait points.

So far, my only opinion on this would be to simply make Power of the Virtuous for Guardians give +2% dmg per boon -OR- give +1% dmg AND +1% dmg reduction.

Add your input to this idea.

That’s all I got for now guys, thank you for reading and I do hope, as fellow Guardians, to get plenty of advice, criticism, and even your own ideas to see if these improvements would really make the Guardian into a -GUARDIAN-.

So far from what I’ve seen, the Spirit Weapons are lacking… it’s quite surprising as well because we have so many traits that improve spirit weapons. I tried them all out, and in all honesty there isn’t really anything that has to be done trait-wise.

I’m sure a lot of Guardian players may know what I mean when I said giving Spirit weapons health killed off their usefulness… but here’s an idea.

Spirit Weapons – When summoned, each type of a Spirit weapon performs not only as an extra hit on your enemy, but also support to your allies. The Greatsword offers a set amount of power to nearby allies. The Hammer gives allies a chance on hit to knock down said enemy. The Shield grants stability to nearby allies. The Bow gives allies a chance to heal on hit. These are passive skills that are added to our existing spirit weapons and their abilities.

I also think more spirit weapons can be added…

Spirit Axes – Summon duel spirit axes that perform a whirling attack and can interact with AoE and passively gives nearby allies crit chance.

Spirit Staff – Summon a staff that grants random boons (Might, Protection, Regeneration) to your allies.

Let’s not forget an Elite Skill for a Spirit Weapon..

Spirit Tome – Summon a Tome that rains down brief yet devastating blue fire around your enemies. Players that interact with the tome are granted a brief boon that causes their attacks to burn their enemy.

Add your input on this idea.

What could make a Guardian a -GUARDIAN-

With my time of playing a Guardian since Guild Wars 2 beta, I’ve come to see the changes and builds that many of my fellow guardians use. I am no Guardian expert, but I do like to think I know how to play the class.. yet I have come to the conclusion that the Guardians are just not in a good spot -yet- but with mere improvements, they can really shine in one of the prime areas known as Support.

Damage is EVERYTHING in this game. Moreso in the end, people always go berserker as dodging, blinding, blocking, and other things from abilities are better than taking a direct hit based on the armor you are wearing and the healing you need to keep up with it.

The armor you are wearing does not matter most times.. and from what I’ve seen, the healing power with a Guardian needs a bit of work. But that’s just my opinion.. there are a LOT of Guardians, and I’m sure some of you would already be disagreeing with me which is understandable, like I said I’m not a professional.

I am coming into this post just to spread a few ideas with the Guardian that could not only make it good at Defensive Support, but Support in general.

Norn Animal Transformations

So I’ve been wondering this, along with a bunch of my fellow roleplayers.

The Norn can shapeshift into hulking werebeasts due to the blessing of that said great Spirit. There have been moments where out in the game, you aid a Shaman at a spirit’s shrine who transforms you into an actual wolf or snow leopard to hunt prey and hunt with the pack.

So.. can any Norn transform into an actual animal and NOT a werewolf/werebear/etc without the aid of tonics, shamans, or spirits? Can a Norn actually transform into a Bear or is he limited to just the Werebear?

What else could be done? What if everyone failed… well, this probably will NOT happen.. but this is ONLY an example. Say you are in Frostgorge Sound and everyone has gotten killed by the Claw of Jormag (Due to his new mechanics). Would we just have to start over on events? Well, they could be on a set timer as they already are on now, but what about the zone? What if because the Claw of Jormag was totally undefeated, a HUGE blizzard now takes up the ENTIRE zone of Frostgorge Sound! This causes the Dragon to fly around, spitting down the large chunks of ice spawning Icebrood that are practically attacking almost ALL of the settlements! This can go on until we do the events to take back the settlements and bring the Dragon down again until we kill it!

So in a way, this gives 2 series of multiple events. Winning the Big Boss or Failing the Big Boss. This changes the environment (Which Anet likes but on a bigger scale) which gives us a NEW kind of interaction in the map. And that is only ONE map. Could this give us the motivation to return to the other maps? Do we really want Blizzards roaming all along the Shiverpeaks? Or firestorms causing balls of fire to rain down in Ascalon? Or giant rainstorms that flood the settlements in Maguuma? Or Pirate ships roaming the waters of Kryta, sending out pirates to attack and burn villages and settlements?

I would like to hear all your thoughts. Would this bring back the balance of Damage/Support/Control being useful and needing each other? Could this create a better play-style and new strategy in WvWvW? Could this bring back the play in Maps and create a new Dynamic Outcome for us?

You decide… This is Our Story.

This lead me to another ‘phase’ of the idea.. what if players involved in doing all of these events are given a big end bonus? It’s not rated on the damage output they do, but the INVOLVEMENT. We all know of the Bronze/Silver/Gold reward you get when completing an event yes? Well, what if you got +10 gold rewards for all of the events involved with the Meta? Wouldn’t that give you not only the bonus chest at the end, but a big fat handful of rewards for practically being there and helping 100% of the time?

What if someone just got the simple Bronze metals for only 2/10 of the events but fought the big end Boss? Sure, he gets the chest.. he didn’t help as much, but hey.. he didn’t get as much of a big bonus reward as you did!

Wouldn’t this create more involvement in events? What if Arenanet gave an event for practically -all- of the Champions in the maps? Sure, players would have to do the events, but what if those events were all linked towards the Big End Boss who gives practically the same loot as the Dragons do but.. well, just a bit smaller because let’s face it, they are NOT Dragons.

Sure, we’d still have the Champion Train.. but we also have given Event involvement, a huge bonus to players who gave their 100% time to the event, and also a cool new Boss with new mechanics!

This is my SECOND idea…

Simply put, we all see a bunch of Champion Trains in every map. What they do is quite as simple as it sounds.. they gather up and run around the map like a train killing Champions for the loot.

Nothing wrong with this.. but.. it has created a slight problem. Champions exist in all zones, including beginner zones. Thus beginner players have come to believe that this is the way Guild wars 2 is played. What can change? Not a whole lot.. but.. this is an idea.

Every Map has a series of many many events. Some have Meta-Events. One of my favorite Meta-Events to this very day are the ones involving Orr. Specifically, the Gates of Arah. Why? I love that we as players are given a choice to do a series of events that when successful unlocks new mechanics and bonuses towards the Meta-Event.

What if it was like this for all the Maps? I’m not saying put a Gate of Arah in each map, but to allow all maps to have a prime Meta-Event that is affected by previous events. But wait, we already have those don’t we? Harathi Highlands? Diessa Plateau? Cursed Shore? Well.. yes we do, but they still don’t seem to bring the desire for players to do them compared to something like the Shatterer, Claw of Jormag, or the infamous Tequatl.

What can be done? A few things.. one… better rewards. A huge Champion should be given to each map, not just a handful. And every bonus Champion should have his own kind of mechanics that of course is in dire need of the different Stat Threshold Players then just a huge Zerg of Zerkers. ( I’m talking for example how a Tougher on a turret firing at Tequatl would take less damage, or a “Healer” would have the turret ability cooldowns reduced. )

Khorthall.1682

Now I’m sure there are HUNDREDS of ideas that can be thought up, but they need to stay into Damage/Support/Control. Support and Control need to be seen as useful as Damage can be. But with new mechanics, it can not only change how damage is treated but also how a player can become all 3 roles in his own style of playing.

What if bosses in Dungeons didn’t just have increased health, but had such mechanics where complete Zerker damage just couldn’t keep up? But if they had a Condition Damager Threshold Necromancer that unlocked the bonus where every condition on an enemy increases the damage against him by 1% per condition? Or that a Healing Power Threshold Necromancer not only has the base of more healing, but has unlocked the bonus of treating his allies with a Lifesteal aura, giving his allies a Lifesteal attack every kittens?

It’s the different combinations that could be put in, not to mention a series of Tiers per combination. These are only example numbers..

Tier One = 2,000+ Stat

Tier Two = 2,500+ Stat

Tier Three = 3,000+ Stat.

This leads to where combination Thresholds can be made. This also leads to a question a friend told me… “What about Celestial Players?”

Well, Celestial was quite tricky. Would they have ALL Powers but be only locked on Tier 1 because they couldn’t get any higher with their thresholds? Would the have their own base bonus of say 20% cooldown reduction on all weapon skills or abilities? Would they not be grant a bonus?

I’m not too sure on it, after all.. I only thought up this idea today. But I told you only ONE of my ideas. One of Two…

What if an entire line of Toughers hop on all of the Siege equipment, causing domes to protect them from all projectiles? Well, this could be changed where specific Siege equipment will give a dome bonus and that is ONLY projectiles. AoE can still damage it, along with Melee. Perhaps a Condition Damage Threshold creates a Catapult, his threshold unlocks it wherever the catapult hits creates a damaging AoE? Again, it’s about Strategy.

Lingering into PvE, what could change about it? How could this change Dungeons or Champ-Trains? Very little.. unless new mechanics and Environment mechanics become involved. Every time I play the game, I run around and see an item laying on the ground that I can pick up and use. Whether this is a boulder or feathers, it grants me something new. Well, what if more of these items showed up and grants you new abilities based on your Profession AND your Threshold? What if an Elementalist picks up a boulder and his Stat Threshold causes it to do a Knockdown AoE? What if a Guardian picking up feathers with a Healing Power Threshold grants mass swiftness to his allies?

Imagine a dungeon with a new series of environment items and mechanics. Where a Tougher Guardian has unlocked a 3,000+ Toughness threshold, sure he’d be tough.. but then we still have the question. How can this make him as useful compared to a Damage Guardian? Players love seeing those high numbers, but Anet doesn’t want to turn the Damage/Support/Control tree in a Tank/Heal/DPS tree.

What can a Tougher Guardian do in damage that a Damage Guardian can do but to not treat him as doing damage greater than the role of a Damage Guardian? Well, perhaps his toughness threshold, for being so high, gives him a chance that when hit he grants his allies Aegis? Or if every one of his boons also increases damage output by 2%? Or when hit, the enemies around him become immobilized for 5 seconds?

Many of these ideas I’ve seen from the Traits, I know. But I didn’t spend the whole day thinking of ideas. I am merely seeing this as a way to build Variety, especially in WvWvW.

What if these Stat Thresholds affected more? Like the Siege Equipment we use? Let’s look into it.

Say a Zerker hops on a Ballistae. He his the Precision Threshold, and this makes it where the bolts he fires can go much farther.

But if a Tougher (Toughness Threshold) hops on a ballistae, is creates a dome around him and the ballistae that doesn’t allow projectiles to hit them.

What about a Vits (Vitality Threshold)? This could make the Ballistae gain 3x as much health.

Now this wouldn’t be Profession based! It would just be based on Statistic Threshold. This could also introduce a series of new siege weapons and mechanics. Let me guys show you an example of a WvWvW battle that could happen…

A mass of Zerkers head for a Tower Keep with only 10 defenders. A Vitality Threshold defender creates an arrow cart increasing its Hp and now firing down on the Zerg. A Condition Power Defender creates an arrow cart, firing down on the zerg with a 50% chance to create a random condition on its enemies (Threshold Bonus).

The Toughness Threshold defender hops on the Oil Cauldron, creating the Protection dome and laying waist to those at the gates. The Zerker Zerg is not looking good, luckily some Healing Threshold players on their team arrived with Two golems. Because of their Healing Power Threshold, each of their Golem’s attacks also causes an AoE cleanse to help with the Conditions.

A Condition Power player who is attacking the fort sets up a Ballistae and hops on. His CP threshold has unlocked it to where the Ballistae bolts do 2x more dmg to Siege. He can’t hit the cauldron because of the Tougher, but he takes out the Arrow carts.

As you can see, it narrows down the battle to where more Tactic and a variety of Stats is involved to get the upper-hand. But what if this happens..

We have Statistics with our characters. Power, Precision, Toughness, all of that. From my own opinion, the Toughness and Healing tree has not become as useful as they should, or as we witness in other games. BUT! Is that really a problem? If Toughness worked as your character taking less damage from a hit. Or if Healing made your healing spells twice as powerful. Then Arenanet would of brought back the Tank/Heal/DPS tree. What could they change?

What if every Stat that once it reached a specific threshold, it granted the character something? What if, this threshold not only affected your character, but the mechanics and the environment around them?

I will mainly list examples…

A Guardian in full Knight’s Gear plays as an Altruistic Healer, he does a lot of shouts and gives a lot of boons. This is how his Trait-build is setup. What if there is a threshold he hit, where having 2,000+ Toughness has unlocked a bonus for his set profession. This bonus could be that his boons now last 50% longer? Or that his Boons give his fellow allies a 1% damage increase per boon? These are only examples.

But what if instead of Toughness, he hit 2,000+ Vitality? Well then, because he is a Guardian, he has gained an ability where Critical strikes against him are reduced by 30%?

What about 2,000+ Healing power? His weapon skills are now reduced by 20%?

What about 2,000+ condition damage? His burning condition now also causes vulnerability on the target? Again, these are only examples.

I know what you’re thinking, some of these could almost be like having an extra 10 points in your trait-build right? Well, the mechanics can always change, they can even be completely new and interact with the environment. But as I got to thinking about this, it lead me to an idea involving WvWvW…

Hello everyone, I’ve been a player for Guild Wars 2 since Beta. I’ve played the aspect of the game a lot, always falling down to my favorite PvE and WvWvW.

I’ve come across some ideas.

After my time hunting down events with the occasional “Where’s the train” always popping up in map chat. After my time seeking dungeon runs that always involve skipping over content, bosses, and loot. After my time when I realize that people have revolved around the fact that ‘Zerker’ is always the way to go.

This is ONE idea.

We as players enjoy variety in the roles of Guild Wars 2. We no longer have a trinity, we now have 3 new roles.

Damage. Support. Control.

The Damage role has been seen as the all-mighty role above the others to a point where Damage has become the Support and the Control.

Support and Control are valuable, we are glad that practically all of our professions can do each role. Yet, for example, a Support Guardian will never out-damage a Damage Guardian. Yet wouldn’t this fall in the tree of Tank/DPS/Heal? Anet wanted something different. What we as players want is to see the Support and Control tree as useful as the Damage tree. But that serves up the million dollar question doesn’kitten

-What Mechanics can Arenanet add in order to stop everyone from always going into absolute Damage and instead find an equal role in Support and Control?-

Well.. what options can there be? I’m sure there’s a thousand ideas that can be thought up.. but this is mine.

Guardian Shield Improvements - PLEASE READ

Okay! I know right now that the shield for Guardian is bad.. BUT! I think I found some FAIR improvements Anet can do. I would LOVE feedback from my fellow Guardians to see if these improvements are both reasonable and would make you actually use the Shield.

Shield of Judgement – Create a shielding wave in front of you that damages foes and gives protection to yourself and up to five allies. Cooldown = 30 Seconds

IMPROVEMENT – The Damage should be increased by 30% and the shielding wave gives Might, Regeneration, AND Protection to your allies.

Shield of Absorption – Create a Dome around you that pushes foes back and absorbs projectiles. Detonate the Dome to heal nearby allies. Cooldown = 40 seconds

IMPROVEMENT – The time on the dome should be increased from 4 seconds to 8 seconds giving your allies time to get inside of it. Detonating the Dome grants allies inside it Aegis AND/OR heals them.

That’s all folks! Please give me feedback!

Achievements can go a long way, then again I might be leading more towards events over Achievements. I have some examples below…

Guild Achievements – This is going to become a Guild focused game isn’kitten Why not add some Guild Achievements that reward you with points and in turn rewards your Guild with influence?

Dungeon Achievements This could work like the ones we already have, but with a lot more that start at the beginning of every dungeon you do. They could be random as well! Like Killing every boss rewards you with a Dungeon achievement along with extra token bonus loot?

Home Instance Achievements – I suppose this lingers more into your Personal story.. but why not turn your Home instance into more of a base, AS THE WAY IT SHOULD BE, with say a portal to the Order you chose to join? This could not only offer customization to your Home instance with Vigil/Priory/Whispers flags, banners, and NPC’s roaming about your home, but also provide you to interact with some that give you special Event tasks that reward you with Order Achievements?

Order Achievements could also give you this random bag that gives you coin and say a new currency for the Orders? I mean, if they plan to improve on the Orders and their rewards, why buy their weapons/armor with gold when you can just introduce a new currency like Vigil Badges or something?

I might of missed this.. people wanting an expansion, comparing to WoW, etc etc..

Well, let’s do a bit of math. WoW came out with an expansion pack in 2 years? You had to pay them $15 a month.. so, $30 for 2 = $180 a year per player?

Let’s see, Gw2 has been out for about a year and a half, all the Living Story updates and content and we pay.. .. Oh yeah. We don’t pay. No monthly subscription.

So, if you’d rather pay $180 to WoW to wait 2 years for an expansion, go on ahead.

I’d rather play a game for free without having to pay for any expansions and keep taking in the 2 week content. The year Living Story came out, was it seriously that bad?

Underground Molten Alliance facilities?
Southsun Cove?
Bazaar of the Four Winds?
Dragon Bash?
Queen’s Jubilee?
New Tequatl fight?
Tower of Nightmares?

I mean, I’m sure there is more and I know most of those were temporary, but they were all free. Seriously, FREE.

And now with the start of 2014, giving Anet a holiday break.. what are we getting?

We got 2 new World Bosses, one is permanent, the other is temporary.
Next we are getting a new PERMANENT WvWvW Map..

Hate on Arenanet all you want, least they aren’t charging you for content, instead they are giving us some fun fill-in content to enjoy until a big project is released. Anet did state they are working on big projects.

Just enjoy the game, honestly the more you complain about wanting an expansion just shows that you have bored yourself to death of what the game has to offer and have driven yourself to a state of craving more… AKA, you play way too kitten much. Plenty to do in life then play a game all day.

Random thought #3.

Thinking back on the bloodstone in Arah… didn’t you have to fight that thing? It was somehow alive? I’m not too sure on the lore of Arah path 4. But.. a living bloodstone with some sort of chaotic essence trapped within it? Who knows, could be fragments of some kind of nightmare.
