Slower spinning drives produce less heat and drain less power. Building a desktop is completely different than buying a laptop, they are different beasts.

Better Celery than being back in the days of the Plague of Deen, when you couldn’t kill 2 bandits/centaurs/other hostiles without having half a dozen sticks of butter.

Could we somehow combine Celery with Butter? Nah screw Celery.

How have the farming nerfs affected you?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Killing Joke.4371

The farming nerfs haven’t affected me, but I will say this.

I went back to the farming spot I enjoyed doing occasionally at the Southsun event to get my underwater daily. Took a omnom berry bar and hoped to get a couple of armored scales. I stayed there until it ran out, so half an hour.

I got a single armored scale and no yellow from that. Nothing particularly exciting. If I was a farmer, I’d have largely felt it was a waste of time.

I’m sort of glad I’m not a farmer. lol

Back when Southsun was just my lonely lonely self with occasional irritating crabs I felt so homely. Y’all ruined my special place.

DO NOT just buy one of every weapon and use them until you unlock all the skills.
instead, I recommend sticking with 1 weapon for like 5 levels until you get a feel for it (this is probably 10x longer than just using it long enough to unlock the skills),

Heh I can see my previous post being misunderstood. I agree try them all until you learn them not until they are simply maxed.

There is something missing from this game and I can’t place my finger on it.. the jumping puzzles are annoying and the classes are either face rolling PVE or dieing every five minutes and I could live with all these things and be happy if the game was fun but there is something more, some fundamental element missing.

Be careful, it sounds like you are chasing the dragon, man.

Maybe it’s because I leveled an elementalist first that I feel the game is just horrible but really, it is horrible to me. It’s not engaging at all. It just feels like non-stop grinding interrupted by something interesting happening once or twice a day when you level up enough to do your story quests.

I realise this is rhetoric, but I don’t play horrible games.

I would have to run, on foot because there are no mounts

OK, GuidWars2 = [Not your game] ?

Over all, this game seems to have the potential to be a great game, but maybe because I’ve been playing games for a long time, to me, it feels like it falls flat.
It’s very pretty, but very shallow.

Some people liked only Quake3, some liked only UT, some liked both, some liked neither. Are we really that starved for games?

Hehe, I know how I dodge backwards (I use s+v), but I wanted to know how Lexy does, seeing how he/she is using s to move forward and turning around to run the other way is way too slow, mouse or no mouse.

I am currently out of country and as such can’t login though I believe there is a keybind found under movement controls called ‘About face’ or some such that you can bind to what suits you. It should spin you around.

edit I should add some class/weapon combinations have skills that allow you to fire whilst about-facing your target and some classes can be built for more endurance/dodge therefor able to simply dodge out of range more often instead of turning around. It’s a double edged sword – Turn around and you mostly can’t attack, walk backwards is slower yet you can deal damage.

Personally I hold down my right mouse button and use ‘a’ and ‘d’ as strafe controls for direction and ‘s’ for forward motion. As holding down the right mouse button basically controls the camera, most of the time I am using my mouse to determine the path of my character by moving the camera. My character is always running in a straight line and I turn the world around them to point them where they need to go.

Out of interest,

how do you move (and dodge) backwards?

With default key-binds you can double tap ‘s’. This works for all directional dodges.

I don’t know. I went by the definition Anet gave when they explained it. It means that you can get to max level and max gear in a variety of ways. For example…

You can get exotic armor and weapons by doing WvW, or by doing dungeons, or by doing world events, or even just staying in a starter zone and doing dailies (though you’d eventually have to go to Orr to get the karma exotics with it).

That’s what Anet said it means in more than one interview. Why shouldn’t I believe them?

Because that’s not true anymore. Remember, max gear is the ascended tier now.

Ascended gear is also only worth taking for one specific type of content. Completely optional content I might add. You only get ascended gear from Fractals, and you only need ascended gear for Fractals.

Oh, please.
“It means that you can get to max level and max gear in a variety of ways”. “No, ascended is not max gear, exotic is. Oh, you say ascended is actually better? Doesn’t matter, it’s optional”.

That is hypocritical.

Way to make the ‘way to literally’ point!

Oh and on that vein there are a variety of ways to make ascended items, so.. uh?

How to make my first staff? (Mesmer)

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Killing Joke.4371

Killing Joke.4371

At the lower levels I always just buy a white coloured staff from a weapons merchant. All towns have them. Make sure you buy one that is off your level.

My advise for a new player is to buy all possible weapons for your profession (for the one handed weapons that say either hand get two) and use them to unlock your skills for all weapons.

This is good advice, especially for a new player. You will be recommended certain weapons to use from other players no doubt, and some are easier/better at certain types of play but trying them all out will help you learn the classes abilities.

How to setup keyboard?

There are probably people better equipped to answer this, though I will tell you my basics minus some fancy mouse buttons i have.

Firstly hold down right mouse button at almost all times, this allows you to camera navigate with the mouse and changes wasd into strafe instead of turn.

Secondly using this method you can use your left hand to punch in skill commands using the number keys above your movement controls, though maybe that just works for me.

Thirdly bind q and e and any other keys close to your movement keys (c, r, x etc) to important skill slots (I’d use skills 7, 8, 9 or 0 as they are hardest to hit using this method, or even heal as its very important)

Fourthly I use middle mouse button as heal, though this depends on your mouse, some have sticky buttons, mine is very responsive. In any case don’t forget about it as an easy to use button you can bind.

These are some simple ideas I hope they help.

I guess what you’re looking for and what I agree with is that people take things way too literally, which is why we end up with systems (such as legal) that are riddled with asterisks to the point of obfuscation. A certain amount of rationality is understood, I hope, with such statements.

Then again irrationality is way more exciting.

Your kidding? Wasn’t DayZ standalone supposed to be released like 9 months ago? Is it still one of the most hacked games in existence? That game was seriously awesome, but hackers completely ruined the experience.

And yet in my gaming circles it’s still head-and-shoulders in front of the competition in regards to excitement. You sound like the Counter-strike beta 4-5 naysayers.

To the OP: I read your doomsday post as more about business sense than a specific gripe on a gameplay element, as such I will only say I choose to have faith in the foresight of the people that developed battlenet and a truly fantastic mmo than the foresight of somebody I know nothing about. Though this may certainly change, it won’t because you ‘created any doubt’. What do you you expect to come from this post? Why don’t you send Anet an email? Are they your target? Or is it for ‘HAH TOLD YOU SO’ rights?

If you think exploration, story, combat depth, challenge and community content are, by your own words, <Stuff you don’t need to enjoy the game>, then by all means, enlighten us and show what is needed to enjoy a game.

Well thats personal. The way I see gaming is there is a provided system of which you ‘game’. I happen to enjoy the system provided, as such I game it. The same reason I choose real lifestyles. I’m not trying to be combative yet I can’t understand raging against this machine. I guess my late-night advice would be find a system you enjoy and use it’s specific abilities to your enjoyment. Perhaps the market isn’t as saturated as I first thought or perhaps it’s a personal attachment to the lore of guildwars, something I can understand, though something I think you have to relieve in this age of computer games. It is business and physics.

Killing Joke.4371

You only ever have to grind for aesthetics in this game, getting a full set of exo gear and jewelry is easy and does not need to be grinded for.

Wrong.

First, <Stuff you don’t need to enjoy the game>

I can drive to the shops just fine in my 1995 ford telstar. I can even have fun doing it if I so choose. Hanson’s CD ‘Middle of nowhere’ and a ‘fully sic’ sub-woofer ftw.

Give me a Ferrari from birth and I won’t comprehend it’s value. Make the Ferrari completely un-obtainable and I’ll resent it’s existence.

It’s a fine line they walk. You can disagree with their line, perhaps find somebodies you agree with. There are many options, it’s a saturated market.

The only other thing I need, personally, is a non-car analogy. I’m thinking skittles, any input wold be gratefully appreciated.

Questions about backpack skins

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Killing Joke.4371

Killing Joke.4371

The actual skin is tradable and as such can be purchased from the TP. Once applied to an item it will become soul-bound however, though this still means you can transmute it onto a white item to make it account-bound.

Keep in mind if you plan on only having one skin to share between several characters you will lose the initial back piece you transmute from each time you move it as well as the transmutation stone. Those costs will add up.
