I posted some details about how I’m having the same problem but it got deleted for some reason. After 6pm ocx my ping spikes to unplayable levels and is back to normal during NA.

OCX = 600 – 2000
NA = 350

I’m having the same issue. My ping doubles around 6pm. Huge lag spikes and in large fights it’s unplayable.

I got home early today and logged in around 4:30pm and everything was fine (I say fine, my ping was 350. It used to be 250 before hot). I had to duck out at about 5:30 for 45 mins or so and when I get back and it was over 600. I was just standing there in one of the capitals. The problem lasts later into the night than I can stay up for (past 10pm), but in the morning it’s fine again.

I’ve tried both .exe’s they have the same issue. Tried changing port to 80. Repaired the install. No dice.

I am with Telstra Bigpond Cable with the speed upgrade. This is the only game having this issue and until a few weeks ago, it was ‘fine’.

Gotta fix this or I’m gone.

A paid expansion should not only improve upon a game, but revitalise it too. Regardless of whether you personally enjoy or hate WvW after the xpac you cannot deny that the state of WvW is not better than they used to be, and in fact many people would like for the mode to be rolled back to the old stale version.

We can all speculate as to why this is and what will happen in the future but I can’t help but feel that if Anet had of done a better job, we wouldn’t be having these conversations.

5 man groups aren’t supposed to be taking keeps.

Say’s who? For three years it was totally acceptable for a small, organised group to ninja large structures. It was some of the most fun gameplay available and was very easy to counter!

See this is the part about WvW that some people just don’t seem to get. It’s about players fighting EACH OTHER over territory. The NPC’s, maps and structures should complement this concept, not over shadow it. We don’t need extra thick walls, lasers, jump pads and break bars. They just get in the way.

The old borderlands did a pretty kitten good job of this which is why the WvW community has remained so strong even though very little has changed in that time. All they had to do was give us some variety, if possible confront some of the more pressing problems (pop imbalance for example), and give the same level of incentive as other game modes.

Instead… here’s 5 silverwastes covered in pve. Enjoy!

How many quit playing WvW since new maps?

I went from wvw’ing every day, to maybe twice a week. And even then I normally log off 30 mins in. Not because I’ve quit or because I don’t want to play, but because HOT has decimated wvw. There are a lot of problems with these new maps, all of which were pointed out ad nausea before go live, but the underlying problem is that they’re just not as fun as Alpine.

Bottom line. Not as fun. Less fights. Less care factor. They might be new and shiny and pretty but at the end of the day, I would rather play in EB, the worst of the old maps, that this new one.

It sucks I love wvw. I’ll be looking for a new game for sure unless something drastic happens.

So correct me if I’m wrong but it seems like:

  • If it’s irritating or goes against the spirit of WvW (mobs everywhere, pve events dictating the map, pop up walls and cripples) we can have it
  • If it would be useful or fun (auto-loot, gliding, pve event level loot drops) we can’t have it.

I don’t like the BL map at all. It’s an obvious example of “too many cooks”, with all of the cooks being dirty pve’ers. I hope something is done soon.

Make the New BL Map Bigger

Split this map into 4 pieces.

Remove all of the PVE garbage (events, mobs and those irritating cripples, stealths, pop up walls, etc).

Tone down the elevation in most areas to allow better mobility and LOS.

Add keeps, towers, etc into these 4 pieces at appropriate locations.

Now assign three of those maps to a coloured borderland (red = fire, blue = air, green = necro\jungle whatever…) and whatever is left to EB. Or you could just leave EB seeing as it’s the only somewhat safe bet for action right now.

Now we have 4 new maps to play on with the variety we have been asking for since forever. No more mobs to ruin good fights. No more pve events dictating the course of the battle and lagging everyone out. No more running around for hours praying for human contact.

Just another suggestion to be ignored.

After testing it in the mists it seems to work like this…

Veil – triggered around the caster when they drop a veil (not when passing through)
Portal – triggered around the caster when they place both Entre and Exeunt
Time Warp – triggered within the area of effect (one time, no pulsing)
Null Field – – triggered within the area of effect (one time, no pulsing)

My expectations for how this trait would work would be, that the buff would be applied when entering/being inside a glamour field, or using a portal. For example, my allies would get the buff when running through a veil, or using a portal… you know, when they would actually need it.

Can this just be a bug too please?

…rotate the borderlands maps.

Take all that hard work you put into the tournament, and direct it to new terrain for us to play in. One map, replicated across each of the server’s borderlands… please.

You get enough maps and you can start rotating them every few weeks. I’ll even meet you half way and let you put dumb scarlet in there somewhere. If you must add achievements, knock yourselves out, but I think this would go a long way to making wvw more fun and less toxic.

From what I’ve read here, winning is only achieved by zerging, coverage, lack of skill, cheating, buying guilds, double teaming, using open field siege and getting transfers.

I can’t speak for the op, but that’s not how I see this topic. I think the point isnt to stop working on wvw, or ignore the problems with regular wvw play, but to redirect the minscule amount of effort that they employ to make these seasons to improving those things.

I 100% agree.

Not only do they prove nothing, but they make WvW even more toxic. They create q’s, they break up servers with transfers, and they bring out the absolute worst in everyone.

Now sprinkle a dash of Megaserver into the mix and you get a lovely stew of hate and trolling where ever you go.

The engineer isn’t week in the sense that there’s no way to play effectively, it’s just that in order to do so you have to work 10 times harder than any class and push the boundaries or go outside of the game design to do it.

For example, I’m sure that the amount of might stacking we can do in combat isn’t intended by the devs, and if it was I doubt they’d implement such a clunky way to do it. The problem is that without it our damage is non effectual and the remaining builds we have go down the toilet.

I love the fact that this is a hard class to play and is the only reason I stick with it, but the continual tweaks and adjustments without any new alternatives being added is starting to grind my gears.

I don’t think any rational Engineer would claim that 100 nades was playing the class as intended and shouldn’t have been nerfed. The difference is… show me a rational Thief who thinks the damage they’re able to deliver with little to no skill deserves to be nerfed as well.

I think the only way to consider this skill OP is to take it in the context that everything goes your way.

You’re spec’d and geared a certain way, you never miss a toss elixer, you never miss your key grenades, your opponent never dodges or cleanses the nasty stuff, you’re in the right sort of fight for it to work… You have to be an octupus to keep this all up. Who else has to work this hard to be considered a threat?

Now there might be some of us who find themselves in this perfect situation more often that others, but I hardly think you can claim something is op because those people are doing well. Frankly those people will do better than the curve regardless of spec or class.

Besides, what is HGH anyway? It’s just might stacking. In WVW I was seeing 25 might stacks well before using HGH. It would be a mistake to nerf HGH if what they’re actually concerned about the impact Might has.

I could care less what they do frankly. I play this class BECAUSE it’s a clunky, disorganized mess. I just would like for sensible, measured decisions would be made for change.

What was the problem with the previous way it worked? It was better than it is now.

The missing line in the patch notes should have not read, “All kits will now behave like the med kit, because it was accidentally a better system.”

How it this customizable? Customizable would indicate I could configure the types of dailies I do to match my play style… not that I now have the option to kill 40 pve mobs in one zone, and or 40 in another.

Oh… and I don’t run dungeons. Sorry, I don’t like them. Why do I still need to do that for my monthly? Or salvage a bunch of stuff for that matter.

Why are the changes to this game becoming more and more frustrating.

For me, I have never played an MMO that got it so right at launch. There are absolutely problems that need fixing and things that should be improved, but overall ANet did a great job.

This is why the latest patch is concerning to me.

Drastically changing major parts of your game, especially multiple parts in the same patch, is a mistake. Even if the system works the way you want it to (and history tells us this is unlikely), there is no guarantee that it will appeal to your players. In fact you can almost guarantee that it will create issues for players who previously had none. Players like me.

The complete redesign of dailies for example. Not only do they not work as intended due to bugs, but they now require more focus to complete. I wouldn’t have cared to be honest, but then you also made them more important than ever now that Ascended gear is attached. I don’t want to spend time thinking about dailies, but now I kind of have to. I now have a problem that previously I didn’t have.

The new changes to culling is another example. I know that some people are getting better results because of this, which is great, but I for one now have a problem I previously didn’t have. Culling is waaaaaay worse than it ever was for me, and every single person I’ve played with since patch. The game is kinda broken for me now, where as before, whilst not perfect, it was playable.

I know that not everybody will agree with me, and that’s fine. In fact it’s kind of what this post is about. When you make sweeping changes like this you are almost definitely going to divide opinions and create problems where previously there were none.

Here’s a fun exercise. Think about how many times you can remember a major patch that resolved a serious game issue without completely breaking something else and infuriating some of the player base.

Now think about how many times a major game patch has broken a game, driven away players, or ended up killing it…

Without being too long winded I guess what I’m trying to say is, please don’t chase me away. I love this game and will continue to play it for a long time, unless you turn it into a game I don’t like.
