Maybe you should use a file format that isn’t from the stone age, this PS4 tier 10 FPS cinematic experience really doesn’t do the animations justice.

Armour, time of day, etc. don’t really matter for this, it’s the terrible jpeg compression artefacts in the second image that are the problem.
The first image has little to no artefacts, while everything in the second screenshot is surrounded by them.

Since the beginning of last month, any screenshots I take are terribly low quality, with incredible JPG artefacts.
I’m uploading two screenshots, one was from the beginning of last month (8-6-2015) and one was taken today. Notice the incredible drop in quality.

What could be causing this? Did Arenanet change screenshot settings? I haven’t touched my graphics settings at all.

I’m going to repeat that the new dungeon token merchant is just ridiculous.
You removed 8 named NPC’s and replaced them with a generically named minimum size Asura that is not marked on the map, hidden somewhere in a corner way off the beaten path, and even dyed his armour to match the background. It’s like you don’t WANT players to find him.

I’ll explain it one more time. This thread was started 13 days ago.
This was before the patch was released.
It was already known then that the new iteration of Frost Spirit did not even come close to matching its intended function.
Yet still they decided to first break the skill and THEN undo their changes again. It makes no sense and all it achieved was making the skill GW2’s Smiter’s Boon for a few days.

Not everyone who disagrees with you is a troll. This mentality kills any discussion on these forums or in-game. I’m trying to remain civil here, but your childish behaviour is making it pretty difficult.

What are you talking about? The devs post was about a day ago (monday) and it was patched with the Tues build. Infact ther were 2 hotfixes on Tues!!!

Yesterday I tried one more match, only to be instakilled by a warrior with the Spiked Armour trait gaining retaliation which also killed me.

In one fell swoop Arenanet trivialized open world PvE content even more, destroyed the community, and tripled map load times for NO REASON AT ALL.

I like pretty much every other part of the new patch but the megaserver needs to be cancelled and sent back to the drawing board.

This is terrible. It’ll fit right in with the rest of the living story, which is also terrible. No MMO has done it before because it’s a bad idea and the backlash would be immense.

I read your theory, and the only way it could possibly be worse would be if they made Rox do the cliché “I learned that friends are more important” thing and form a little adventuring group à la Destiny’s Edge and then named it Destiny’s Child or something like that.

Nothing personal, it just sounds too fanfic-like and would not fly well in a high-quality professional environment.

Running an AMD A10-5800K @ 3.8 GHz with a GTX 660 and 8 GB RAM here, I suddenly gained ~20 FPS in pretty much every area compared to before. Great work from the crew.

Few people look like the ripped/super thin characters that devs make up.

Fewer people realize that not looking like this isn’t an inherently bad thing.

And the norn are hardly ripped, they’re bear-mode. I’ve also yet to see a truly super-thin character. Some body types are somewhat on the skinny side, like the twig body for female sylvari and certain human body types, but nothing unhealthy. Gotta say some of the proportions are off though, unless Tyria has already invented breast implants. Wouldn’t surprise me with all the weird techno crap we’ve been seeing in the LS.

I don’t see how destroying everything they promised will save GW2 though.

How about this instead: Scarlet as a DEAD guy/girl/plant. She’s a symbol for everything that’s wrong with this “living story”.

I don’t get how they could get it so right with Guild Wars Beyond and then screw up so hard in GW2.

1# She distracts you each time from her real goals, by using the Alliances.
Why the hell did the alliances help her in the first place? It doesn’t make any sense at all and there’s not a single bit of explanation to it other than Scarlet being so perfect.
2# At her first time appearing she hacked the queens robots and used them to distract you so she could work in peace once more.
First time the queen’s clockwork knights appear, and Scarlet already knows exactly how they work and how to hack them. Once again, just Scarlet being perfect.
3# The Tower another distraction and an experiment to test what happens when you mix krait and sylvari magic.
Again, how the hell did she convince the Krait and Nightmare Court to cooperate other than through being a poorly written Mary Sue that can do anything she wants?
4# In Scarlet’s back story she obtains some ’’mystic’’ knowledge and was Scarlet from that day on, in other words she discovered something that drove her mad.

5# She is not overconfident but clever, she fought us once and had her kitten handed to her, so she is not stupid enough to fight us again hench why she flee.
Whenever we fight her we kick her kitten and then she goes LOL I WAS JUST PLAYING LATER TATER as if nothing happened. It makes the fights feel pointless and stupid, very much like Scarlet’s entire character.
6# She is a fan of destruction and chaos, and she wish to find her purpose in the world with it.
Sounds like the stupid excuse every THAT GUY uses to ruin the story with his Chaotic Neutral character in every single tabletop campaign. WELL HE JUST LIKES CHAOS SO THAT’S WHY HE RANDOMLY KILLED THE KING WE JUST HELPED.

Scarlet’s character is inexcusable and nearly driving me to uninstall the game and demand a refund. I paid for the quality I learned to expect from GW1 Arenanet, but GW2 Arenanet has become lazy, bland, and greedy.

I’ve seen better characters than Scarlet on the bloody Star Wars Holiday Special. If she were an evil, manipulative, and intelligent villain with actual motivation behind her actions, I could stand her. But right now, she’s just randomly being evil because it’s random and evil. This is Bioware tier writing, and I’m not talking about the old Bioware that made Baldur’s Gate.

First of all you need to realize that nobody likes Scarlet because she’s poorly written, annoying, and doesn’t make sense in the established story.

Secondly, the battle for Ascalon you see in that fractal isn’t the Searing, it’s the siege of Ascalon that happened right before the Foefire. The disturbance at the end that requires you to be extracted to safety is the Foefire itself.

So you’re double Mass Effecting us.

First: NOTHING FROM GW1 MATTERED EVERYTHING WAS WRONG ENJOY YOUR SCARLET SUE

I want Arenanet’s old team back. The writing wasn’t exactly amazing and innovative, but it was good enough for a fantasy RPG and very much enjoyable.
GW2’s story is just extremely unclear and uninspired. Going for the full George Lucas retcon tour doesn’t help it a single bit.
Less of your average tween fanfiction writing, more consistent lore, please. And kill Scarlet off as soon as possible. She’s an abomination unto the lore (Seriously, graduated from ALL THREE Colleges while Asura generally belong to one? I’m calling shenanigans.) like Rox is an abomination unto charr aesthetics.

It’d be doable if you could actually interrupt the plunderers, but once they start their “Take treasure” or “Deliver treasure” animations, you could pull them from the Cliffs to Lion’s Arch and they’ll still continue as if nothing happened.

The game draws inspiration from the crab guild challenge but plays a bit differently. There’s achievements, titles, and prizes for participants and winners.

I’m just wondering, WHY do you keep doing this?

One of the complaints that people have with the game is that there isn’t much to do at level 80 except repeating dungeons and fractals. Some mini-games and new dungeons would allow for more variation, yet every time you add something to the world, it’s TEMPORARY. What’s the logic behind this?

The story didn’t feel alive at all, the main characters were extremely uninteresting “special snowflakes” (seriously, the Pickheart and AND THEN HE WAS EIR’S SON parts made me cringe), and most of the content was really boring and even frustrating while leveling alts. I sure loved being banned from the radius of fire of any periscope because they take half your health in a single hit at level 2-10.

After GW1, I expected MUCH, MUCH better, both story and gameplay wise. I’m just wondering what happened to the Arenanet I once knew.

Zounds! You are correct! But that was also foreseen by the designer who fixed the White Raven, so expect that to be fixed as well next patch!

While we’re on the subject of pet stats: Bonus stats from Beastmastery or traits do not appear on the pet out of combat. I’m not sure if this means if the pet has less vitality/armour if it is the first one to get hit, but it’s confusing in any case.

Gw2 will have been released for one year in August. Looking at the laundry list of things to do, I don’t expect any MAJOR future improvements for Ranger before August. I’d be willing to guess 2014 for them to be in better shape with a healthier pet AI and that’s being optimistic. Anet is overly cautious with change and class balance, to the point it’s hindering their credibility.

They weren’t overly cautious when they nerfed every single ranger weapon and trait line during the betas even before the full selection of professions was available.
They Smiter’s Boon’d the entire profession in an incomplete balance environment and never once admitted that it wasn’t the right thing to do.
Just like Paragons in GW1, really. I’m still waiting for that rework. Waiting for more than 5 years now.
