How do I not get 2’d to death every encounter?
ANet and respect in one sentence… Also, giving them money to fund SINGLEPLAYER of an MMORPG? I really don’t get how people enjoy those. There could’ve been so much more…
Problem still lies in the ANets inability to realize that this game should be an MMO. The only online interaction you get is billion people mindlessly slamming a random worldboss = no interaction whatsoever. Plus, the majority of content they put in the game IS kittenING SINGLEPLAYER STORIES.
Solo grinding is the name of the game.
End game aka more singleplayer only stuff aka grind to play what you want aka DON’T BUY
And I don’t see them making it a selectable option. No skill in the game has this ability and it’s doubtful that their infrastructure is built to handle it.

Do not test your nerves and waste your time on an Ele, it is simply not worth it.

And yeah new strength runes are OP, but new strength runes, new celestial amulet and signet of restoration buff are the things that keep Elementalist viable atm (considering Aquamancer builds). And Runes of Strength keep burst builds viable.
And another reason why I think some Elementalists seem really strong is because they still played them while they were not viable and got adapted to having the weaker class. If I look at my Team-Mates often the ppl with the most dumbed down /OP builds and classes(especially before the patch), were the ones playing the worst.
From time to time not even bothering to dodge attacks etc etc.
While Elementalist was underpowered, elementalists(the hardcore ones) had to learn their dodges, their positioning etc, cause one single mistake meant certain defeat against some builds even if they were played by totally unskilled ppl.
And the other thing is ppl didnt meet Elementalists in PvP before the patch alot, so ppl are not adapted to face an elementalist anymore (okay by now ppl should have adapted).
But considering the points above I understand very well why ppl have problems with Elementalists atm.

Protection on auras.
That is the only difference, and not a good one even. Zephyrs Boon gives much more and over-commiting on defense will cripple your killing ability completely.
It is basicly D/D that everyone rolls now. Except no Mist Form, which I don’t get.
Nothing can compare to thief in this regard.
D/D triple cantrip is the closest you can get, but I don’t think it’s that viable for roaming.
S/D|F can’t kill normal players.
Staff can’t kill normal players.

But I can’t chew how bad Gust (Lightning 3) is.
It is simply the worst skill in the game, period. CD through the roof, you will never hit anyone with it, unless they are mentally deficient (or ccd).

Getting instasliced without a nanosecond to react by 8k dmg is something you can’t dodge. That is the truth. Now go back to your thief/warrior and eat cats.

Nothing, they’re just upset that they weren’t given a great big ‘kill everyone’ button.
Do y’alls srsly want to become the next OP thing? We might just be back out of the nerfs due to D/D bunkers, we really don’t need another load of the things.
The only nerf to anything Ele was boon duration runes – but that’s pretty minor compared to the huge rune nerfs for other classes (Lyssa? Perplexity?) along with the ways the frustrating meta builds got dealt with.
Edit: oh, wait, sorry – and the exploit with FGS+teleport got fixed. What a shame, what a massive blow to skilful play.
Ele is still kitten, and in some aspects even worse than before.

We would lose the variabilty we have.
Although I’ve been thinking about it lately and a focus on two attuments at a time (firewater, airearth, any combinations of two) and making them stronger somehow would be quite nice. You wouldnt lose the entire cast and it would be up to you what you choose. Focusing only on one attument is too strict
-One of the highest damaging skills in the game (in the top 5 as I recall)

PS: …. rotations, are simple.. on every… class! :/ if we’re talking about keys pressed! engineers would be master class!

To say the least, they are the only class that requires a moderate amount of skill.
We can’t do roster shuffling in Team Arena, so lopsided matches like this can and do happen.
This likely happened because 1) rank isn’t factored into MM at all, 2) the players on the red team had an MMR near the default MMR , 3) blue team doesn’t have a very high MMR despite of having very high ranks, and/or they had been waiting in the queue long enough for their MMR range to expand enough to encompass the MMR of the red team.
We have been actively working to MM more intelligent, but those changes are not yet ready for testing. We will have more news about the MM changes as we get closer to releasing them.

Sadly I do not agree that time spent on balancing matchmaking is a time well spent. Certain classes need adjustments and if you are taking sPvP semi-seriously, you should find a full time team or at least stack with someone else (a guild prehaps)
Speaking in terms of sPvP obv, millionth thread about ele being kitten at everything (except PvE)
Scepter:
Lightning 1 – bad, have to wait 3 sec to get the max dmg, cant dodge in the meantime
Lightning 2 – decent
Lightning 3 – bad, single target, high cd
Fire 1 – longest autoatt in the game, low damage
Fire 2 – needs manual targeting, long delay cast time, good dmg
Fire 3 – very good, but since you run crit vigor its partly less effective
Earth 1 – ok, hast to be like water 1, no pre delays before shooting the rocks
Earth 2 – decent
Earth 3 – can be efficient, but mostly isnt
Water 1 – needs more damage, but overall the best autoatt on scepter (L1 is better because of the build ofc)
Water 2 – worst skill ever made
Water 3 – quite bad, needs lower cd or some kind of buff
Staff:
Lightning 1 – bad
Lightning 2 – bad
Lightning 3 – can be good, needs aoe
Lightning 4 – ok
Lightning 5 – very good
Fire 1 – mediocre to bad
Fire 2 – very hard to land, can be decent
Fire 3 – ok

b-a-d, one cc in the entire cast (minute cd), projectile shenanigens, 4 sec invul and thats all
Same story as always, every single class in this game is better at everything with every single skill. We don’t have setups, we can’t combo stuff if peeps aren’t totally stupid. Updrafts setup time is low, cant Fire 2/3/5 properly. Air 5 with focus is a pathetic excuse for a stun. Earthquake can be quite good, only for the interrupt though. We generally lack any kind of control.
Didn’t mention much about CDs in skill interpretation – generally – we have long CD on everything, trying to justify that by saying we have 4 weapon switches is riduculous, 5/6 of those spells are really weak for their CDs.
Thief is riduculous with his 5k hits by spamming 222 all day. Legit playstyle, thank you.
We cannot burst down Warriors and Necros, ever. I can go full zerk and I won’t scratch half of their HP. And yeas, they kill us in 3 hits. Legit playstyle.

Only viable way to play is Fresh Air, but you miss one spell and you’re done.
Not talking about PvE/WvW, thats a different concept entirely.
TL:DR inb4 ele needs massive buffs or others need massive nerfs. Been like this for ages, thank you for ruining my experience by forcing me to alt+f4 everytime I get owned by autoattacking scrubs that have to clue at all.

I won’t play any other class, I wanted to play Elementalist, seemed cool, appealing, but this kitten is unbearable.
