I guess I was wanting to know if there are also any new features that maybe I overlooked. I just don’t have time right now to go through 6 months of patch notes and upcoming changes.
I have been away from the game for about 6 months now. Is there any reason for me to come back?
What I’ve already done:
1) I have 12 characters at level 80
2) I have created 3 legendary weapons
3) I have ‘Dungeon Master” Title
4) Was level 50 FOTM reward level
5) Was around 20,000 Achievement Points when I left (I think)
The expansion pack does not look exciting to me. Is there any reason at all to re-invest my time in this game?
Error 404: The rest of your post not found!
My first character was a Guardian… I have played him over 1000 hours (and have every class in game).
Guardian… and never look back. They are semi-support, but have high survivability and can dish out some dps (use Zerker gear)
There are to many open ended statements that I can find. Just because I interpret something one way doesn’t mean ANET will… I’m really requesting someone take note and answer me officially so I do not get banned.
There will never be an official answer, and really there shouldn’t be. The moment the say “Yes they are fine” the next round of arguments will come as well what is “They”.. So Anet comes back “They means auto clickers”. So the arguments continue well if I use an auto clicker to auto click every node in a map this is ok since Anet said auto clickers are ok. Which clearly this is not ok.
This is why you will never get an answer, as you can see from many people in this thread that have a press and hold to open at .5 sec intervals, the same as if you double clicked at those intervals. There is no advantage compared to someone not using it, besides possible lack of wrist injuries.
You have been given an answer by your fellow forum members who have been most likely using these methods for the last 2 years with no issue. If this is not good enough for you, stop posting on the forums open a ticket with support and once they respond, with what is found in the ToS, move on. Not trying to sound mean or anything but it seems like you are just trying to start an argument.
I am not trying to start an argument. I even listed in the OP that I opened a ticket and they have apparently been ignoring the ticket.
“fellow forum members” or even “friends in game” will not amount to much if I am trying to contest a ban I got in part by using what someone said should be okay.
I have played the game for almost 2 years… I even read through the ToS in detail. The post that I linked in my OP was to open ended and vague.
I used to post to these forums but realized why I stopped … people nit pick your posts and flame you over it.
I’d suggest OP contacts support about this, I don’t want to be mean but autoclickers in any form or way are not legal.
No. You will never EVER get a clear answer. The only thing we know is that music macros are allowed everything else.. who knows. For example “Does opening bags faster than other players give you an ingameadvantage?” Yes it does because the more you open the higher the profit is (bags usually result in profit as long as you open enough).
Could a user get banned for using a higher mouse speed than another? Should a user get banned for using a gamepad or gaming board? Those could offer significant advantages over others in PVP, for example…
Does opening bags fast give you an advantage? You state yes… but again… you have your opinion and I have mine. The intent of this was to hopefully get clear and concise answers from ANET on what is legal and what is bannable.
There are to many open ended statements that I can find. Just because I interpret something one way doesn’t mean ANET will… I’m really requesting someone take note and answer me officially so I do not get banned.
When you have muscular and nerve type diseases… Once you get off work (if you’re able to work) you are not able to do much besides sit down and play a game or something. I don’t want any investments to die due to some rule that is up for interpretation.
Reminder: you can convert luck drops to exotic lucks using Artificer, greatly reducing the number of clicks required.
Don’t use an autoclicker, but feel free to set up Mouse Keys so you can press the + key to double-click instead of having to double-click on your mouse. Given that it effectively halves the number of presses, that should help considerably.
Again… Mouse Keys to use the + key to double click is technically 1 button press for 2 occurrences.
Also I know you can convert luck using Artificer… but I was just using it as an example for stacks of things that may need to be consumed (Thirst Slayer for instance?)
Please add me to the names if this is still going on.
A spear should be 1 handed, imho.
A “2-handed” spear would be more of a Pole Arm .
Pre-Note: I am inquiring due to a muscular disease I have that makes opening stacks of things (i.e. bags, etc.) or consuming stacks of things (i.e. luck, food, etc.) incredibly difficult, but I still want to play the game.
I have tried searching on exact information about the use of “Turbo Clickers” “Autoclicker” or “Registry Editing”.
-Turbo Clickers (or Repeaters): Mouse functionality that allows holding of the button to repeat the mouse click (similar to holding a key on your keyboard)
-Autoclickers (3rd party programs): Programming your mouse to repeat clicking where your mouse currently is until manually disabled.
-Registry Editing (or use of Mouse Keys): Using RegEdit to modify a specific keyboard key to function like a left click (can also be done through Mouse Keys).
I found a posting here that states “4.You cannot program an “auto-clicker” macro that, for instance, opens chests while you play elsewhere”
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Policy-3rd-Party-Programs-Multi-Boxing-Macros/first#post1532762
From my interpretation of this it reads that I cannot use any of the programs above if it allows me to play elsewhere (such as run a dungeon or do some crafting, etc.)
However, I feel it is opened ended to the fact that autoclicker functionality is allowed if it is used in the appropriate context and not used to play the game for you like a “bot”.
I have sent in a support ticket and tried to PM some GM’s and staff… However, I haven’t gotten a response so I hope this post will gather the attention of someone with information as I do not want to be banned for anything!

‘You guys said you’re sick of getting rings as rewards from FotM. Well, you won’t be getting any rings now. You’re welcome!’
- ANet
I lol’ed on this one. (Mostly because I have 20ish rings in my bank not including the ones that I’ve sold.)
Anyways… does anyone know if this is fixed?
I understand all your guys comments… maybe “Fractal Master” wasn’t the proper term @Purple Miku.7032
However, 50,000 runs calculated 2 ways:
-4 Fractals each run would add up to 12,500 FOTMs completed. This takes roughly 1 hour to complete. that is 12,500 hours of play time to achieve!!!
-There are 5 reward tiers (i.e. 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50) If you ran each of those every day it would take 10,000 days to complete this title. The equivalent of over 27 years.
Yes… I know the fractal reset irk’ed some people… but oh well… They improved fractals with the new system (I got bumped down and I still enjoy them)
I just wanted to express that if people are able to get titles for something as simple as killing a Legendary boss in SilverWastes… then why can’t we have some FOTM titles?!
I’ve went with tons of names on my pets … I keep renaming them… but this is current
Bear – Cuddles
Brown Bear – Smokey the Bear
Cat – Im With Stupid
I think this is a great idea. I would love to see some FOTM inspired titles.
For instance:
Achieve Personal Reward Level 10 – Fractals Master
Achieve Personal Reward Level 20 – Veteran Fractals Master
Achieve Personal Reward Level 30 – Elite Fractals Master
Achieve Personal Reward Level 40 – Champion Fractals Master
Achieve Personal Reward Level 50 – Legendary Fractals Master
Complete 1000 Fractals – Fractals Frequenter
Unlock All Fractals Skins – One Man Armory
It’s a cool idea. Unfortunately, I don’t have any tips for you as far as making it legitimate. I’ve thought about doing something like this myself before and I got tangled up in thinking about the legitimacy part myself.
That’s the hassle… With so many scams and choice words people in the world. It’s hard to trust anyone now adays.
As a matter of fact someone was calling out selling Charged Lodestones in LA for TP price minus 15% for TP fees to give a discount. The guy got me for 90 gold :< then ignored me and “Guested” servers. That’s back in the day of guesting.
Why Lodius?:
I already have Meteorlogicus. I just want to help out someone who may not ever save enough to build their own Legendary weapon. Also, you stand to make a nice chunk of change from this. Let’s not forget that tidbit.
Okay… perhaps you didn’t see… I can sell this on the TP for 2100 right now or list it to sell current lowest at 2,700.
I will raffle this off after getting 2,000 tickets sold (i.e. 2000 gold). Even after the 15% TP fees… I could make more selling this outright to someone. I was really just trying to do something nice for the community.
(edited by Lodius.5392)
So I just made Flameseeker Prophecies. I thought about Raffling this off for 1 gold each ticket.
NOTE: This has not started yet
I wanted to post for a few reasons.
1) Ensure this is not against terms of service.
2) Get your guys ideas on how to make this a success
3) Ways for me to prove this is legitimate.
Current ideas for Legitimacy proof:
1) Post picture of the Flameseeker Prophecies in my Personnel Bank.
2) Update the spreadsheet on a daily basis with user names and ticket #s. Posting that spreadsheet so everyone can see it.
3) Record the actual drawing of the randomly generated #
4) The database will be within Microsoft Excel and will use the formula =randbetween(X,Y). This way there is no biased on the number selected because I am using an Excel formula.
5) My details. I am 29, married, with 2 kids… while age isn’t indicative of trustworthiness… it still might help to know I’m not a young kid behind a computer.
Ideas for Rules:
1) Tickets cost 1 gold each
2) Drawing will be held on the Friday after the total of minimum 2,000 tickets have been sold. (The current sell now price is listed at 2,100 on TP or list price at 2,700… so this idea isn’t for extra profit for me)
Why Lodius?:
I already have Meteorlogicus. I just want to help out someone who may not ever save enough to build their own Legendary weapon.
A tad to far? lol… that’s what this game is all about… have you ever seen anyone with the “Yak Slapper” title?
It’s kill 1 million Dolyak’s in WvW or something… yeah…..
The new farm it is!
So… at lunch I sunk 150 gold into precursor gambling… The Chosen is at 560g … so I thought I could short cut it and just try for it in the Forge…
Wow, I really left to come back to work in a sad mood :/
I save and save then get the urge to roll…. GAH This isn’t the first time either.
I have to admit… I am on an okay server… last week we came in second place after a hard fought last day with GOM.
This week, we have been put against 2 other worlds that with their combined score will not even be more than ours ATM.
I recommend Gates of Madness… at least from my experience last week ^^.
I play on Sanctum of Rall and we were winning on Thursday night by 7,000 points. GoM decided to own everything on Friday in every map and had the numbers to do it and wound up beating us by 40,000 points or so.
Mine would be “The Conquering Slayer of all things Opposing Tyria”
-Force everyone’s starting weapon to be a stick (melee) and a rock (ranged).
-Time gate everything! Only 1 level allowed per day! Max 10 Gold per day!
-Have the conversion rate of gold to gems set at 1:1 ratio. 1 Gold buys 1 Gem!!!
I use my Abyss dye in about every color scheme on every character.
I would use it… 40g is easy enough to make later
My favorite red dye is “Lava”
No, this just gives the “elite players” just something else to restrict parties for.
I can see the LFG panel now.
“COE P1, zerk, 80s, elites only”
I am sorry for you dungeon sellers… but this has been a very welcomed change to people like me. There have been times when the dungeon owner went afk, outright left the party, or even logged out and we couldn’t kick him to continue.
Oh wow… I can’t name my pet until a certain level? They gate something so trivial? That’s just silly. Jeez, I thought that might have been a bug or something, but okay.
Thanks guys.
Naming your pet is to much to learn for your first 100 hours of playing on a ranger!!! … everybody knows that..
What could you honestly be depositing so much of in your bank that you need the feature of double clicking?
Sooooo….. Do the damage of a Berserker while getting the protection of PVT gear?!
A canon that never dies!
How about… collect 250 of each type of tiered bone crafting material… From Bone Fragment to Ancient Bone.
Have it be called “Bone Collector”
And you get a free mini bone dog or something.
Possible, of course it’s possible, everything is possible… just as I could program an app that would make my computer go slower the closer I’m to a project deadline at work, or one to use my cell phone GPS to consume battery twice as fast when it detects I’m on the street away from any charger.
Possible, but I’d honestly say highly unlikely… what would be Anet’s motivation to do that?… to make positive posters even more positive and negative ones even more negative? What would they even gain from that?.
The “gain” is that it would be to negatively sway or subliminally influence the player to quit. So if only positive players remain then the game will soar on the “popularity poll”.
The general statement could be made that, negatively motivated people will most likely not be buying gems. Therefore, non-gem buyers are no longer a benefit to ANET. Why would ANET care to keep them around and influence others to not buy gems or negatively impact the community (keeping it from growing and developing new players).
Ok, since you are a developer lets talk same language.
Let suppose a few situations:
1 – the algorithm is updated on the run, every time a RNG function is called to consult the drop base a select is made on the forum posts made by the account where the content of the post is positive.
That consult would be REALLY slow, consult in a DB using partial texts is very consuming and not plausible at all.2 – A DB job/query runs daily or even weekly updating a table, giving a weight in the account RNG based in the former posts of said account.
While it would be a bit more plausible by the develop side, such query would take ages to finish and even if that query was made in parts it would be too outdated almost all the time.3 – There is a trigger on the forum post that update a table in the DB to change a weight in the RNG function for your account.
This would be the best of the scenarios, but still it assume an insanely high demand of the DB and would make the forum very slow. Also, all those scenarios are only even possible assuming that the RNG function reads an information linked to your account, and if that was actually made, the DB workload would be too high, the RNG function need to be called w/o a too specific DB select, only information like time, account name, position in game, AP and so on, those infos are acquired w/o a DB consult.
Do you see a way where your theory could be actually made?
EDIT: Also in a secure way, cookies and client side stored information can be easily “hacked”
1. The “mystery number” does not have to be dynamic, but can be mass uploaded once a day. The number is a factor applied to an account (similar to MF) without actually being visible to the player.
2. That type of query would not take ages to finish, unless of course you are programming out of an MS Excel database (or perhaps chisel and stone). There are other options of databases that function quite fast.
3. I think you are not understanding the full picture of what I am conveying. The “hidden database” is linked to the forums directly. The database only has to contain user name and “mystery rate”. For all staff that give a +1 or -1 it IS dynamic into the database, but the database is only weekly into the game.
I’m not saying that’s how it is, but why people say it’s technically impossible?
It’s not technically impossible. It’s just extremely implausible. Also, as someone already mentioned, a combination of mechanism that punishes negative comments with hiding said mechanics from public knowledge would be just plain stupid. The only reason such a thing might have been implemented is to influence forum opinions. Well, it’s hard to bribe/threaten people if they are unaware of the bribe/threat.
So, basically, the OP’s idea is that Anet decided to complicate their rng system by hundredfold for no gain at all.
(there are also other reasons why it’s ridiculous, but i don’t really want to repeat them for the nth time – it’s not like its the first rng conspiracy thread here).
It’s not about the tin foil hat wearing theory. It’s the fact at how easily RNG can be manipulated without community knowledge.
People are making claims that it is impossible to develop a formula to take into account a “mystery number” based on staff feedback. However, it is not…
As some have said… “Magic Find” is a revealed stat that directly effects the RNG factor to sway in your favor. It would not be that difficult to have a +1 and -1 button beside each user’s name in the forums (that is only available to staff). This number feeds the database that updates all users once a day (not dynamically) and it will directly correlate to the RNG algorithm.
It’s not impossible or improbable it is simple coding.
Well there are no hearts to complete in Cursed Shore, Malchor’s Leap, or Straits of Devastation…
Jumping Puzzles are fun to do once… you get the +10 AP for them. However, doing them more than that is not… their rewards are kind of terrible for the investment/skill involved.
AP hunting… there are different zones (not all zones) that have some nook or cranny to explore to get some quick +10 AP or so.
n/p. My main is a Guardian with over 700 hours on him alone.
Guardian’s are fun. FYI… get a Greatsword ASAP!
It is hands down the best weapon for Guardian (imho).
Yes this is viable… and the different boons they apply would stack with each other.
I’ve gone through phases in which I’ve been highly critical of the game, and phases where I’ve been very supportive. In both phases, I’ve tried to be fair. My drop luck is, however, generally well below claims I’ve seen on these forums. As far as drops in other games go, my GW2 drop luck has remained dismally bad.
I think in general, Guild Wars 2 is a trickle game. Stuff trickles in, but fairly regularly. I get enough stuff to salvage for silk. Silk isn’t exciting but I need it. And it sells okay. But yeah, it’s not a precusor.
Because you can get anything in any zone, for the most part anyway, the trickle system makes sense, only from an economic point of view.
Anet doesn’t want to make Orr so amazingly profitable that everyone stays there. By trickling stuff in, it means you can play everywhere. If everyone got obviously better results in one place, everyone would go to that place.
If they made the game more profitable across the board, inflation would cause everything to spiral out of control. People think there’s inflation in this game. I’m assuming they’ve never played a game with real inflation.
That is relatively under control because you can’t get good drops everywhere. It certainly makes the game less “exciting”.
I’m not complaining of inflation… I have played games with unbelievable inflation. (looking at you DC Universe). It wasn’t uncommon to see things priced at millions of dollars each.
My concern is potential behind hidden code that appears to play a part in this games drops/etc.
Now this is plausible.
A code that for example limits 10 dusks a day and after that no matter or what it won’t drop, is ok, but a code that is updated by if you are making compliments on the forums is plain ridiculous.
Commented based changes? Could be ridiculous… but take into account the “infraction system” They currently have an “infraction system” in the forums with no way of seeing what you are currently at.
Conspiracy? Yes, I do think there statistically should be more precursors in the game now than a year ago… but when you search the precursors you see the supply is always around 10-40
I’m sure there are plenty of ways that base RNG on a community as a whole instead of just an individual.
New Collection → Unlock every precursor in the game!
Reward → 1 free common dye
My personal advice and experience is that groups are actually better at 20+ then they are at 10 – 19 range.
Reason? People think they can get by with no AR or only 5 AR at this range. They are also still learning what they are doing.
My advice? Get enough AR to run 20+ and never look back.
Back to the initial programming of the game… It’s not a basis of “how much good you can give a player” but " how much good you can give a company"
A programmer is not invested in the player as much as himself.
Take for instance, people paid on commission for how much they sale. They are not paid on how happy their customer is, but on how happy their boss/company is with them.
So as a company I would pay someone lots of money to develop a code that would keep precursors at a rate which kept them in high demand (supply vs demand). If the programmer could code it so that no more than X amount of dusks would be out at a time would ensure the price would force people to buy gems to convert to gold.
Thus, the programmer “made his dues” by developing a good algorithm to keep supply low and demand high.
Just like casinos never cheat people.
Or carnivals don’t have games that are “unwinnable”
Or by Carnies that lie to your face…. I did exactly what one said to do to win his game… then he made up some ridiculous excuse as to why I didn’t win.
I have been a game programmer and know just how easy it would be to do things behind the scenes to influence algorithms.
Where something as simple as a Customer Service person could use a hidden “+1” or “-1” system behind the scenes that triggers a increase/decrease of .01 (or something) to the internal algorithm.
Simply, a * b = c
a – original algorithm
b – sway of votes
c – standard RNG score
So I was curious if anyone else has an experience to share.
However, I have posted to these forums for a while. I started a post a couple months ago that was very praising of ANET and the GW2 game as a whole.
I ran FOTM the next day after posting that and got an exotic drop in every boss chest, some good drops from Tequatl (including 2 different Ascended Weapon chests), several open world exotics, and quite a bit of other good things to boot.
Then on the flip side a day after the 9/9 patch came out I made 2 different very negative posts towards ANET / GW2 and their current direction. I then began to see terrible drops (mostly garbage) I have gotten at most 3 rares from Tequatl and I opened 50 champion bags last night with only 1 good drop in them.
Do you think it is possible that based on positive / negative feedback or “infraction points” we get +’ed or -’ed the RNG to sway in our favor or against us? (based on staff discretion or something).
I know this sounds very “Conspiracy Theory” type stuff… but I think nothing is coincidence.
Meh… call me slightly disgruntled. No intentions of offending the 9/11 victims/families.
