I agree, or at least make town clothes like they were in Guild Wars 1. You could wear them over your armor, and still be able to fight in them.
I agree. It’s just a pity that NC Soft/ArenaNet are too concerned about milking as much money out of the cash shop, then actually putting in content that we the players, really want.
To me this amounts to a blatant bait and switch. Example, I was going to purchase the witch outfit, only to find it was for town chothes only, giving you gay RP powers… Meh, PASS!
Anyway, Elder Scrolls Online releases next year, so I guess I’m going there, as I don’t see the 12 inch kitten that NC Soft/ArenaNet has for the cash shop, going away any time soon.
After playing Neverwinter Online, which DOES use this “Combat Mode” style of play, I far and away prefer that to what GW2 currently offers. Can we get some type of option, to allow the game to run in this manner?
If a simple mod can make the game run just like Neverwinter Online, then surely the developers can come up with SOMETHING!
Probably never going to happen, but one can wish…
Well I too wish this does happen. After playing Neverwinter Online, which DOES use this “Combat Mode” style of play, I far and away prefer that to what GW2 currently offers.

Pretty crap to say your a paying customer yet have to pay further to keep using your purchase as you upgrade your armour.
I purchased the Primeval armour at launch. Its been sat in my bank since that day. I’ll use it one day when I find armour worth using it on.
That’s why I would love to see an “armor wardrobe” introduced, similar to the Festival Hat Maker from GW1, where you can unlock appearances by showing the NPC an armor set you’re currently wearing (and it must be the complete set, not merely one piece of the set). After being unlocked, you can freely apply the unlocked skin to any armor set you’re currently wearing, although the NPC will charge you a Transmutation Stone(s) each time you apply a new skin.
These ideas are good, however I would like to see what was implemented with Lord of the Rings Online, with their appearance tab.
For those who did not play LotRO, you had one tab for your armour, and a second tab for your appearance. Anything in the appearance tab, for a given location, will overlay what you see in game. So if you had a helmet in your appearance tab, you would see that helmet, rather than the one you have equipped in your armour tab, for its stats.
All ArenaNet would need to is to have; Armour Tab, Appearance Tab, Town Clothes Tab.
Armour and Town Clothes would work as they do now. The Appearance Tab will allow you to place armour in various locations, that would show in game, over what you had equipped in the corresponding Armour tab. If you do not want your armour to be changed, you simply clear whatever was slotted in the respective slot, in the Appearance Tab.
With this LotRO system, you would simply equip your gem purchased vanity armour in your Appearance slot, and you will never have to worry about updating your armour again with Transmutation Stones… then again, this would lessen the need for Transmutation Stones, so I would expect you would need to pay gems to open up your Appearance slot, for each character, otherwise it would never get implemented.

Wow, so you are all Guys In Real Life??
Cool, I’m a real life guy too. Glad to meet you all!

This is the Axe/Axe – Rifle build I am using.

It’s by no means great on the damage or crit chance, but Berserker’s Power and Heightened Focus compensates for that. Also Sharpened Axes feed into your adrenalin generation, which quickly boosts Berserker’s Power and Heightened Focus to max power, which then helps the Axe Mastery generate crit damage spikes.
The shouts help with healing and boons, with the Empowered trait benefiting from the shout boons, which buffs your power.
In all, a safe tanky build with lots of health, with boosts in power and boon duration.
Was it crazy and did you give him your number?
That all depends… did he call you, maybe?
I’ve running a fire/water glyph build. It’s primarily built for PvE, so I know that’s my first problem, but what suggestions does the Ele community at large, have for a build that at least gives me a snowflake in hell’s chance of survival.
Now it’s…
- Thack, from a surprise stealth attack.
- I mist form, to get some distance, but of course the invaders pursue me.
- Mist form ends, my kitten is prepared and I engage my kitten face, as the invaders begin the gang gank, usually in groups of 3 to 5 giggly teenage, kitten players.
When my female Ele shouts… “Feeling Hot!”… when swapping to fire, I think she’s suffering menopause, with her hot flashes. :P
Players can use a cast fishing net (CFN) to catch resources, rather than the common rod & reel style, used in other games.
Gameplay
- Random shoreline areas, within the game world, will at random times of the day/night cycle, will display a fishing encounter zone (FEZ).
- Fishing encounters start with a splashing animation. This animation will last for a random period of time, after which the splashing will stop, and restart in a nearby location within the fishing encounter zone.
- The may be anywhere from 1 to a random number, up to a limit, of splashing animations within a FEZ.
- A player can equip and cast their CFN, which is a ground (water surface) targetable skill, to catch the fish. When a CFN cast skill is activated, players place the ground targeting cursor circle over one, or as many splashing animations as they can fit within the targeting circle as they can. Once they click/activate the cast power, they will catch a fish or resource, depending on the quality of the CFN. Multiple animations within the targeting circle, will yield separate results, so players can receive multiple outcomes.
Player fishing skill
- Players will use CFN, as an weapon hot bar equippable item.
- When equipped, the players weapon hot bar will swap to show in slot 1, the ground targetable power, cast. Other 4 slots are blank.
- When clicking/activating slot 1, a ground targeting circle appears, of varying size depending on the quality of the CFN.
- When the power is triggered, players will receive items, depending on the quality of the net.
- Better quality nets have larger targeting circles, to allow for multiple catches, and yield better quality fish/resources.
- Players can use booster items, to gain a boon, that helps in fishing. Either in quality of items yielded, or increase size of their CFN targeting circle.
Cast Fishing Net.
- CFN’s can be bought at a speciality NPC, or crafted by a tailor.

ArenaNet is doing all it can to spot evil botters, within Guild Wars 2. However I’ve discovered a few tips on how to spot them, so you can report it and clean the game up for everyone.
If you see a group of 2 to 4 characters who…
- Are all of the same class. Typically rangers and guardians.
- Who all appear of the same default colour scheme.
- Who all are equipped with starting/low level weapons and equipment, of the same type.
- Who all run a repeated lap around the zone, in a tight group.
- Who all attack the same target, at the same time.
- Who all use the same tight sequence of attacks. Usually the auto attack “1” skill, with some type of AoE attack.
…chances are you are looking at what is commonly known as a “bot swarm”.
In which event you are 99% safe in reporting them for botting, since it’s mostly likely a program, or at the very least some poor underpaid Asian dude, two/three/quad boxing the entire group at once.
- [Moderator edit] content against the CoC removed
Finally, if you have any handy hints on how to spot a botter. Leave them here! My list is by no means complete or fool-proof. So the more knowledge we can gather here, the better we all will be in spotting and reporting bots.

Anybody got a hot tip, as to which zone has the most raw candy corn nodes?
I’m currently roaming around Kessex Hills and Queensdale, and while finding the odd node here an there, I would like to find more sugary mining grounds.
From the sounds of things, on this thread, I think a more intelligent use of my money would be to purchase lottery tickets, instead of gems for BL keys, to open chests for Halloween items. At least my odds of winning would be far greater.
I GUESS WE, ARE ALL GONNA BECOME A MESMER. You guys mest up there ArenaNet.
So I guess we should rename the game Mesmer Wars 2. :P
This is what I’m going to use.
PvE Farming Glyph Build
http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mcsc9cz0MohvMMobvMGG0x0okcRzaq
Basically I use the elementals as my disposable tanks, and bounce between Fire (attack) and Water (healing) while staying at range.
Water traits are speced for extra healing and conditional removal upon regeneration.
Fire traits are for extra punch.
Air traits are for faster glyphs and extra buffs.
I know I will get spanked outside of Care Bare PvE. If I want to go sPvP or WvWvW, I’ve got a warrior and thief for that.
I have a hyena called “Giggles”.
Also saw a “Charr in boots” once.
Since we have Arcane, which is meant to be a “colourless” form of magic, why not have a fifth attunement which gives us total flexibility over the elements. Selecting Arcane as your attunement will allow you to.
1. Choose from any of the four elements for a particular slot.
Each weapon slot would have the drop down top border arrow, like the utility slots. When you click on that arrow, the 4 elemental attacks, for that slot, of that weapon, appear. From there you can choose any 1 of those weapons slot attacks, for that slot. This way you can mix it up, with different elemental attacks, but still adhere to the current array of powers.
2. Elemental Attunement.
Arcane gives you Vigor.
3. Evasive Arcana.
Arcane gives you Arcane Wave at the end of your dodge roll.
4. Elemental Surge.
Arcane skills cause Confusion for 2 seconds.
5. Glyph of Elemental Power.
Arcane skills cause Confusion for 4 seconds.
6. Glyph of Lesser Elementals.
Psychic Elemental: Deals damage and stuns. (Looks like a small transparent, glowing purple brain, with energy tendrils.)
7. Glyph of Renewal.
Arcane glyph will revive an ally, and give them Ageis boon for 3 seconds.
8. Glyph of Storms.
Arcane: Eather storm.
9. Glyph of Elementals.
Psychic Elemental: Deals damage and confuses.(Looks like a huge transparent, glowing purple brain, with energy tendrils.)
The suggestion above is provided for entertainment value only, and is in no way intended to be include in the game. Haters gonna hate, after all.
(edited by Lurch.4793)
I would just be happy, to have the weapon toggle/swap button cycle through the attunable elements, with the equipped weapon. That way you don’t waste a key bind, and not have to keep reaching for your function keys.
Such as…
Attune to Fire, press weapon swap, Attune to Water, press weapon swap, Attune to Air, press weapon swap, Attune to Earth, press weapon swap, Back to fire again, etc.
Well from what I’ve seen from other MMO suggestion posts, we will all get what we all don’t want.
As for me, I like the Skritt. Reminds me of the Ratonga, from EQ2.
1. Allow players to reorder their weapon ability buttons how they wish. When a new weapon is equipped, the linked ability buttons are added occupying empty buttons, left to right.
2. To compensate for this freedom, make weapon unlocks take 10 times longer.
You mean wedding, right? For a moment there, I thought the video would be about gardening. :P
Can we have more hood like head peices, in both light and medium armour, using the Anonymity Hood model?
From what I have seen the Anonymity Hood you get when starting out as a thief, is the ONLY hood you get in game with that model. I would very much like more head gear like this.

I’ve seen someone call their dog, “Chinese take out”.
Can we have some kittenty body suits, with stockings, like WoW’s Mageweave armour?
A favourite among night elven theves.
Yes, I have to agree with this. With all the tricks in play now, for free travel to capital cities, why not just get real and put in a “Hearth Point”. A special way point just outside of each respective cities bank, that is free to travel to.
Let the players take the server back, from the bots!
I have seen this done in WvWvW, with guilds putting up videos of them specifically targeting bots in battlegrounds, but I would like to see this extended into the PvE environment.
Rather than just report the bot, I feel a system below would allow players police their server for bots.
1. Players flag a character as a bot.
- When you see an avatar you feel is a bot, you flag it as normal.
- However after a preset number of reports (3 for example), the bot is up for “elimination”.
2. Bot given a chance to respond.
- When the avatar is flagged for “bot elimination”, an automated whisper is sent to the bot via chat.
- The name of the account sending the whisper is randomised, so that bot scripters can’t write code to automate a response.
- The whisper will ask the player to whisper back a code given to them, which also is randomised.
- If the code is whispered back, all previous reports are dropped and the player can proceed as normal.
3. Bot is found, unleash the Gamers of War!
- If the bot fails to respond to the whisper within a period of time (i.e. 60 seconds), then the avatar is flagged as a bot.
- When flagged the bot is flagged for PvP, regardless of where they are. Players can attack the bot on sight (their name goes red), and the name and location of the avatar is messaged to all players on that map. For fairness the bot is allowed to fight back on any player that attacks them, but the attacking players are not flagged for PvP to any other player, just the bot. In essence, this turns the bot into a named mob.
- As an incentive to kill the bot, players will be rewarded with loot, just as you would get from a Veteran/Champion mob.
- A system alert is sent to the GM pool, alerting them to the bot and that they have been flagged.
- Also, when the bot avatar is flagged, they will be sent a system message to that effect. The only a GM request to be unflagged, will allow the bot flag to be turned off.
Before the haters go on about players abusing this system, remember:
- It takes multiple people reporting, before a bot is flagged. So a single person can’t grief other players into flagged bots, it will take a group of players to do this.
- The prospective bot is given a chance to respond, so that if an entire guild started griefing other players, the victims could prove their human-ness, and avoid the flag.
- GM’s will be alerted to any bot flagging, so they can step in and rectify any false positives as necessary.

They do it so that they can call a mediocre third person shooter an RPG and sell a lot of copies to teenage boys.
Yes… teenage boys with visions of naked blue ladies! I’m surprised the Smurf movies weren’t more popular.
That said, if they could make weapons that grant stats to kits, they may as well just fix the ones we already have.
That’s true. All they need to is give us our pistol/rifle/shield stats to our kits, but I got bitten by the creation bug and thought of a few interesting weapon ideas for things an engineer would have.
The Chem Tank is my favourite, especially after watching “Breaking Bad”. Wandering around the battlefield, smacking mobs with the butt end of your chemical tank, taking a huff every now and then.
(edited by Lurch.4793)
It is well known that engineers do not get their equipped pistol/rifle/shield bonuses applied to their kit weapons.
So rather than just rant about having these bonuses carry over. How about ArenaNet makes a few new Main Hand equippable items that have their bonuses carry over, but operate as impromptu weapons in their own right.
These are just ideas, so don’t get all uptight about them if you don’t agree. Haters gonna hate, after all.
Chem Tank (2H Weapon)
A heavy chemical storage tank, used to carry a variety of liquids for kits, such as the Elixir gun and Flamethrower. Its heavy weight makes it a useful impromptu weapon.
Tank Thump – Smack the target with the side of your tank. (Range: 130, Damage)
Chem Cloud – Open the tank vent, and create a cloud of vapor that poisons to all nearby targets. Remember to hold your breath first! (Range: 200, PBAoE, DoT, Poison)
Coolant Spray - Release the coolant overflow of your tank, chilling all foes in front of you. (Range: 400, Damage, Cone, chilled)
Take a Whiff – Take a sniff from your tank vent, and gain a random boon.
Huffing Cloud 9 - Expel a healing cloud of medicinal agents, providing healing to all nearby allies. (Range: 200, PBAoE, Vigor, Regeneration)
Tool Box (2H Weapon)
A large metal box, heavy with stored tools for a variety of kit, makes for a mighty blunt trauma weapon.
Box Bash – Swing your tool box against your target. (Range: 130, Damage)
Box Push – Thrust your tool box forward, pushing back your foe. (Range: 130, Damage, Knock back)
Box Pummel - Overhead swing of your tool box, to daze your target. (Range: 130, Damage, Daze)
Lid Shield - Open your box in front of you, to block the next attack. Counter with an attack if you are in melee range, by snapping the box shut while thrusting the box at your target. (Range: 130, Block, Damage counter strike)
Spill Tools – Spill your tools around you, making it difficult for nearby foes to move (Range: 200 PBAoE, Immobilize)
Utility Satchel (2H Weapon)
Heavy canvas and leather bag useful for carrying around bomb parts, grenades and other chemical compounds.
Satchel Smash - Swing your satchel at your foe. (Range: 130, Damage)
Satchel Uppercut - Upward swing your satchel at your opponents head, to daze the foe (Range: 130, Damage, Daze)
Satchel Whirlwind - Spin in place, whirling your satchel around you, damaging all nearby foes. You can move while spinning. (Range: 1200, Damage, Combo Finisher: Whirl)
Satchel Surprise - Grab a handful of random chemicals from your satchel, to throw up a chemical cloud in front of you (Range: 400, Cone, Random Condition)
Bonus Sandwich - Find a long forgotten foodstuff, stuffed at the bottom of your satchel, for an instant health boost. (Range: Self, Healing, Vigor, Regeneration)

Flamethrower Kit – Pilot Burner (1H Weapon)
Front barrel assembly of the Flamethrower, that can fire a small burst of flame, to be a limited weapon in its own right.
Barrel Brand – Thrust the searing hot tip, if the burner barrel, against the enemy. (Range: 130)
Flame Spike – Flare the pilot light, into a thrusting flame. (Range: 130, Burning)
Pyro Spray – Fan the pilot light in front of you, burning everybody nearby (Range: 200, Cone)
Elixir Gun – Chem Tank (1H Weapon)
A heavy chemical storage tank, used to carry a variety of liquids for the Elixir gun. It’s heavy weight makes it a useful impromptu weapon.
Tank Thump – Smack the target with the side of your tank. (Range: 130)
Chem Cloud – Open the tank vent, and create a cloud of vapor that causes damage to all nearby targets (Range: 200, PBAoE)
Take a Whiff – Take a sniff from your tank vent, and gain a random boon.
Grenade Kit – Grenade Bandoleer (1H Weapon)
A heavy leather belt, used to carry grenades, also makes for a handy whip type weapon.
Belt Whip – Whip the heavy grenade belt, against your target (Range: 200)
Buckle Snap – Slap the buckle of your belt against your foe, pushing them back (Range: 200, Knockback)
Loop Trip – Trip your foe, by looping your belt around their feet. (Range: 130, Immobilize)
Tool Kit – Tool Box (1H Weapon)
A large metal box, heavy with stored tools, makes for a mighty blunt trauma weapon.
Box Bash – Swing your tool box against your target. (Range: 130)
Box Push – Thrust your box forward, pushing back your foe. (Range: 130, Knockback)
Spill Tools – Spill your tools around you, making it difficult for nearby foes to move (Range: 200 PBAoE, Immobilize)
Bomb Kit – Blast Powder Horn (1H Weapon)
A large power horn, used to hold the explosive powered used in the bomb kit.
Horn Hit – Thump your foe with your power horn. (Range: 130)
Powder Puff – Blow toxic power from your horn, against foes in front of you (Range: 200, cone, poison)
Flash Over – Light a small amount of power from your horn burning and blinding foes around you (Range: 200, blind, burn)
These impromptu weapons will have their bonuses tailored to their respective kits, but who’s bonuses will carry over to whatever kit is employed.
I used to buy 450gems for 1g12s. Now 450gems costs me ~1g90s. OP is herp ddeerrpp.
So prices for gems are not going to go down unless people start selling gems for gold??
I’m afraid they will just continue to go up and up and up then…
… and as we get more typical MMO gamers joining GW2 (you know the kind, unemployed, twenty something, basement dwelling forum trolls, whom have nothing better to do than farm gold 24/7), expect there to be large amounts of disposable gold floating around, which will be converted to gems, for those nice Black Lion trinkets of awesomesauce.
So the price of Gems will keep rising, until it is simply impossible to farm enough gold to buy 1 gem.
If you want the price to drop, encourage more Guild Wars 2 gamers to get a IRL job.
With Windows 8 shaping up to be a bit of a shocker, Metro interface chiefly to blame, this may become a necessity!
I agree with all of that. Even though it may seem redundant, the functionality is part and parcel of MMO pop-culture, and as such should have been included.
If this has not been suggested before, can get have an Alliance Chat system implemented. It will hopefully resolve problems such as this:
Make-guild-chat-visible-even-for-unrepresented-guilds
Alliance Chat is simply a channel, that your guild and all other guilds within the alliance, can see and respond to. It’s simply a higher level channel, a guild of guilds chat.
