Good idea Azraelle, why not just kill all the PVE players, making them take longer to do jumping puzzles, making them stay in WvW longer.

I agree with Coldin, a simple wave, get the puzzle done, and those ‘PVE’ players can just go back to PVE or join your zerg. Don’t complain about PVE’s in WvW if you just kill them and not allow them to do what they came to do and get out quick.

They haven’t mastered the art of running away like other “WvW Players.” This makes them all too delicious. Besides, the Obsidian Sanctum is a map of its own now, the PvEers in the JP aren’t taking up any queue spots so the amount of time they spend there doesn’t equal a handi-cap for the server, it equals more fun for moi!

All the smart @rse responders are very neatly managing to not comprehend that the OP is not complaining about the kiddy griefers in the JP’s, he even says good luck to them if thats what they want to do. The complaint is that the JP’s amount to 4 out of the 19 available thingys to do if u want the golden yak or whatever the crap reward is for doing the WvW season achievement.

So, how has the first matchup of season 1 been? I started queuing at reset last friday and I am fairly confident that map will be popping for me shortly.

Also – my calculations (on the 30 PPT post) were based on relics providing 3 points per spike with 3 relics. This may not be the case.

What type of time frame are your calculations pertaining to? Assuming you get 3 points per stomp, 30 points would only be 10 stomps which is not very much in a roaming atmosphere. Also what time zone and what server? For me roaming in say EU vs NA would have very different results.

To be fair, if he is a mainly WvW player on a fairly busy server then 10 mins of PVE could then incur a lengthy queue to get back to what he actually enjoys doing.

If anyone seriously wants the ascended crap then just man up and PVE for it, otherwise do what most others are doing and just ignore ascended. Its silly to do WvW only then complain about ascended mats, its like only doing JP’s then complain at not getting dungeon tokens.

Honestly if you just want to have a relaxing time and explore the world without dying- go Ranger.
The are easy to pick up and they are the best solo explorer class bar none- they are also almost indestructible.
I adore my Ranger and I do world completion on her even though I have 70% on my Mesmer- It is just so much more fun on a Ranger

He did say ‘maybe do some PVP after’ tho so Ranger would not be the ideal class for that.

Decide which you would prefer to do more for an evening, grind in game currency by farming in game or get a bar job do that each evening and buy gems with the pay.

Either route will get u the gold for your cultural armour tho only one of the routes will give u a reasonable chance of getting laid also.

The game was very alt friendly at first I think to the extent that quite a few people (well me at least) became far more invested in their alts than maybe they normally would. It was my main turn off from the game when (as a mainly WvW player) WXP abilities were introduced (effectively open ended character progression) and it made me lose the spring in my step I used to have when playing…then ascended weapons pretty much chopped my feet off. Now I just login every now and again and dont really do much.

Ruins – should give some WXP at least with a internal cool down to prevent spam capping with an enemy but allow legit capping(running from 1 area to the next and FULLY raising the bar) to benefit from some WXP equal to a sentry or so.

I think it is extremely important to keep WXP and PPT out of the ruins, no interest in zergs in there.

AP hunters ‘having’ to go ruins for daily will being both PPT and WXP to the ruins as they get ganked

this is exactly why i care. it takes too long to get for a no hardcore wvw player. take a leveler achievement for instance its similar to this one. in leveler you dont need 2 levels so why you need 2 lvls in this one?

To get the daily achievements reward you dont need to do this one at all just do the ones that are quickest/suit your playstyle the best.

If you are an achievement point kitten then this one is a layup for you as you can just buy the WXP ranks with laurels and badges when you dont have time to farm them.

I am pretty certain that a progression rate of 20 levels per month in a trait line that has 900+ levels would not satisfy even the cutest cuddliest carebear.

To be fair, there is no way that Devon Carver can be as out of touch or incompetent as the disparity between what he says and what he delivers suggest. I can only think that he does very much want what he says to happen but ends up being forced to take whatever he can get then takes a deep breath and ‘sells’ it to the community.

Newbie commanders will attract the newbie players.

Part of your job as a server to be competitive is to help train and guide the newer players.

Nothing should change on minimum requirement except maybe increase the price since gold is now easier to get.

However I would be in favor of commanders being able to “nominate” each other for bigger and better titles.

Originally my idea was change commander to “General” and all General tag purchases come with a 1-time consumable that if you are in a squad and use it, it gives a “vote” to the General whose squad you are in.

As you gain votes your title and icon progresses

5 votes = commander
10 votes = veteran commander
25 votes = legendary commander

**Possible twist to this – those with votes to their tag CAN if they choose give their votes to other commanders – when in their squad you can click a button that gives 1 of your votes to them.

just some of my thoughts.

Unfortunately that idea is just screaming ‘exploit me’, bottom line is that people get to know who the ‘decent’ commanders are for their playstyle and servers with a decent community more or less police the commander situation.

It is a contradition to say on one hand anyone running with a zerg can make hundreds of rank points in a few weeks, but the person leading the zerg can’t expect to make many rank points.

The contradiction is that “being an effective commander” and “leading a zerg through PvD cycles” are not the same thing. at all.

I did alot of that too… and i belive that yes 400rank is a good filter. If you like wvw and want to command, why not reach that rank to command?

Instead we have new commanders of low ranks or almost experienced, we will get solid ground commanders.

WvW rank is accumulated fastest by zergballs that PVD. So maybe when u say ‘good commande’ you mean the best guy to follow to grind out your WXP ranks as quickly as possible? If so, then you deserve the troll tag that takes you all off a cliff.

I do wonder why some players are so anti the GvG player community. As far as I can make out, the only reasons to have an issue with GvG are as follows:-

1) Thoughtlessness (ie a Guild being stupid enough to arrange a GvG in its own BL)
1i) Thoughtlessness, doing a GvG on reset night on a server that actually gives a crap about PPT.
2) High handed manner (ie ‘Get off this map you random scrubs we are doing GvG here and its much more important than your pathetic PPT play you worms’) genuinely never experienced anything like that ever happening (prob because I am on an EU server) tho I do recall thinking RG were mostly a bunch of kittens when they passed through my server on their grand tour.

That’s about all I can think of reasons for people to be anti GvG crowd that could lie at the blame of GvG players

So assuming that most GvG players do not do any of the above I guess I have to look at what could be the reasons by the anti GvG players themselves. As I am not anti GvG I may need a hand here…

1.) Possibly they are part of the pug blobs and upset about being wiped by much smaller organised Guild groups so they (not unreasonably) assume these are the guys that are also regularly doing GvG. So its a possible spite/payback thing?
2.) I do not see a credible PPT argument against GvG unless the Guilds in question are doing 1 or 1.i above and then surely its a discussion rather than scorched earth policy on the activity?

That’s all I got unless anyone else can come up with credible reasons.

You would do better using reverse psychology and telling them to make it a worse place as they seem to do the opposite of whatever is suggested on forums when they even acknowledge what is typed by the vocal minority.

People invest a lot of their spare time in a game and become quite proprietry about it. I think even the most blatant fanboi (with a modicum of understanding of OW PVP) would agree that Anet have made some very ‘interesting’ choices with regard to WvW since launch.

Also, generally people do not like being told they cannot do something the way they have been doing it, especially when the explanation is ‘because you can’t.

At the moment any player that has a job/school/semi social life who wants to remain competetive gearwise in ow pvp is more or less having to do PVE bosses temples etc to get the matsin a reasonable time frame.

All of the above has actually been good for me because its made the game lose its appeal for me and I have taken the opportunity to finally DL Skyrim and check it out. After all, if I am going to do PVE then I might as well do it in a decent game that is specialised for it whilst at the same time getting myself back up to speed with Elder Scrolls lore.

Sometimes math really is that simple.

Unfortunately, maths involving a constantly moving variable (due to pts on stomp) gets tricky.

WXP_Base in my example would be whatever you normally get (be it 50 wxp on a stomp or 10 if he’s died earlier). I generalized it since I have no idea how GW2 does its scoring math.

Example #1: You kill another player from World 1. World 1 has 150,000 points while your kittenty world only has 80,000 points. Lets assume you would have gotten 60 WXP points normally. Now you’d get 113 WXP points instead.

Example #2: The player above kill you instead. He would normally have gotten 60 WXP points from you. Now he only get 32 WXP points instead.

So really, its not tricky at all. Its the simplest form of multiplier math. The closer the points of the two worlds are, the closer to 1 the multiplier is.

yes sure but what I mean is that the current score is constantly changing due to pts on stomp, so all I can forsee is them managing to create additional bloody lag from the calculation if by some miracle they actually took this excellent suggestion on board.
