Hey, man, i would be glad to help a new fellow ranger anytime.
- About metabattle, its a good place to get directions but you shouldn’t follow 100% the builds there. You should tweak it for your own playstyle.
- Yeah, Druids are a heavy support class. You won’t be dealing much dps when you pick its specialization.
- About specific builds for specific game modes i could give some suggestions but its my personal taste, ofc.
- About legendary/ascended items, they have the best status in game, above exotic, but ascended and legendary are the same. If you want the best status go for ascended, each piece should cost about 80~100g to craft. You only go legendary for the awesome skins, otherwise be happy with ascended.
PvP: You could go with the one its listed as meta in metabattle, its a good start point and then you can tweak and change stuffs to your own style: http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Druid_-_Bunker_Druid
You can also try out the shoutbow one, its more fun to play, make you feel like a real ranger, but requires a little more experience to pull it off: http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Druid_-_Shoutbow
WvW: for WvW there are two different kind of builds, zerg and roamer ones.
If you wish to follow your commander in zerg you can try this one but i don’t know if its optimal since i rarely play like that: http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Druid_-_Support_Healer
If you wish play as roamer, wandering around the map solo or in group, searching for small scales fights, you can go with my build, tbh i haven’t found any build that is better than that atm. Here you can find the written guide: http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Druid_-_Shout_Trooper_Roamer
But the gear choice for this updated version is more expensive and is really for the ones who already played the build for long time and are willing to spend some gold into upgrading it. As a test you can go with the older version, which is cheaper to make and still works very well. You can find the gear/build in here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGdrGNHKfa4
Fractals: Since you are asking for fractal build advices i’ll assume you haven’t done those yet and so is starting by tier 1’s. Fractals scales in difficult heavily with tiers, and up to until tier 3 you are better off with zerk builds. In tier 4 condition really shiny!
So i’d advice you go with the standard longbow / X build there and work your way up. Here you can find all the best/meta pve builds, very well explained: http://qtfy.enjin.com/ranger
Dungeons: people rarely run dungeons these days, but if you decide to you can run the same fractal build you are using, will work as well.
If you have any doubt don’t hesitate to ask, i am sure someone will quickly help you out. We have a great community here.
Dang he killed my 2 guildies xD
Yo DONEE when’s out next duel?! I’m back!
Don’t you dare get near me, okay?! Too strong for me. xD
Glad to hear you are back, man.
Cool video, man. Wouldn’t guess you had an youtube channel.
snip…
But yeah…I better go with my power Mesmer again that I can’t play. Dueling wit druid is just pain right now because of a certain zerker Warrior build that can outheal you. WvW is really a joke...snip.
only warrior? Just yesterday i fought for 20 minutes running in circles for an very annoying and pretty bad ultrabunker meditrapper with sword\shield and scepter\focus (so you can decide how bunker he was going) until i could burst him down.
Completely lack of skill should not be that rewarding, F1 , circle trap, pull, symbol, and shield bubble to push you off while healing.like a typewriter and impossible to burst down simply because it can heal better than the druid.
And chrono bunkers? with enough confusion output just walking around to kill anyone and immunities to walk thru an enemy zerg.
scrappers with tonics are also bunkerish as a nightmare. Hell even dire DDs full stealth mode can melt anybody just jumping around.
The only difference between a Druid and any other bunker build is that the druid don’t have enough burst and have to wear down enemies. People complain about the pet, but all those other classes can go full bunker still do double our dps even with the pet.
And it is not because the druid it’s just healing, that it should be fine, but it’s because the ranger base it’s in pretty bad state.
The pets needs to be a reliable source of damage or they should became our burst and utility and buff the ranger damage all across all the weapons. In any case i’m not asking for going full damage, but at least being better balanced with thw other classes.
The build can kill all these you mentioned, but that super boon tanky warrior, although it’s a pain and slow af!
I had a duel with one of these warriors and the fight lasted about 8 minutes until he finally get me down. I managed to get him below 20% hp several times but just didn’t had enough burst to kill, then he kept healing to full. We are helpless! >_<
Just for fun video, don’t take seriously.

Any chance of a similar PvP build to test out?
When i spvp with it, i run Diviner’s amulet.
I miss GS; but sword/WH is > GS. STILL – preference sure. One thing – I love the direction you took this; but I will say the pre-patch shout trooper was A LOT less expensive to run. It was actually very appealing because of that and how fun/successful it was. This plays differently too with the boon style and weap changes. I still think the soldier version is good in this meta, but you really thought this through it’s almost a new type of build tbh it imo drastically changes the previous shout trooper.
Basically; I am poor and cannot get all these new stats and sigils :P But do you still think your older build maybe w/ a few adjustments is viable this meta? Maybe a poorman’s shout trooper :P
yeah, man, the build’s old version is still great and more of a budget option also. The new version is just an upgrade, but not mandatory ofc.
Heya, can I get your opinions on this build? Its similar, but slightly different stats (I started to appreciate the fried golden dumplings).
Its a little less Boon duration based, but added more damage. Stuck the capacitation on my LB only for chasing
Thanks
Celestia
Seems a pretty solid build. I just don’t see the reason in running sigil of rage in staff since you don’t have high boon duration. Instead i’d put it on longbow so you can proc quickness rapid fire every 30 sec.
Made a quick Build calc. Swapped a few gear pieces of Donees build. This seems much more appealing to me since you will reach around 80% crit chance instead of 60% while only sacrifying 3k health. Like Donee said – play whatever you want, but this one seems more effective in theory. Also: More Crit = More might
It seems a more offensive approach to the build and its ofc looking good. Whatever suit your playstyle.
I notice a lot of mix and match with the gear (mainly Maurader) and accessories. I suppose I could play around with stats when I get home from work…but could this build be mirrored using gear with Minstrel prefix?
Sure, you can swap some pieces for minstrel, specially the wanderer’s one. Swap pieces until you feel comfortable with the status you wanna play.
Condi all the way!
hi Donee, I am glad you came up with this original build. Instead of sword/wh, do you think GS also a viable option for burst/utility/cc?
Yeah, man. Any weapon set is viable, either gs, longbow, dagger or axe off hand.
Sometimes i also swap weapons depending on situations, i just release the build with sword/warhorn because its what i think its the most effective nowsday.
If i had to rank it with current WvW state, i’d say: Sword/Wh > Longbow(but tons of reflect) > Greatsword > Sword/axe > Sword/Dagger.
Hey donee I have a challenge for you! Make a good sb druid/ranger that’s decent all around fights (wvw roaming/pvp/1v1s). I’ve tried to make one but i can’t seem to make one that’s okay (has decent cleanse and mobility yet does enough pressure)
Just a humble request, I’m hoping that wizzo dude dusts off his asruan ranger for the ability buffs
Hey, buddy. I’ve made a quick build in calculator but i don’t know if it will work. Its taken the shout trooper build as base but i think it will have a great result.
You’ll have 100% boon duration to stack might, regeneration and protection, also some good condition duration 30%ish. High health and armor, the armor is really high which i don’t like much since at 3000 you start to not get much of it, but that is what gave me the best health/condition duration ratio.
I think it will work but need to be tested. All trailblazers can be swapped into dire if you don’t have them.
just play condition and rub on others classes face that you have higher dps, but elementalists, ofc!
I dedicate that clip to this thread and I truly feel for all the poor humiliated rangers in the world (not really).
And that is the reason i don’t play Longbow in WvW anymore. Everyone has reflect nowsday.
I really hope it does not get nerfed, in PvP you have to run glass (for the boon duration anyways) it’s strong but I wouldn’t say it’s as strong as menders or any other meta build in PvP. (What makes it so strong in wvw is you can build for survivability and still maintain the high quickness uptime)
Regardless it’s a fun bursty build
Thanks. xD
Just came back to the game after year and a bit away, and I have to say this build makes me very tempted to finally buy HoT
Can see a few changes I’d make to suit myself better, but it does look a lot of fun, mostly because of the Quickness up time lol.
The quickness up time will definitely be nerfed unfortunately. People already complaining about it in PvP.
People complain on everything, that is why meta keeps changing non-stop. But if they nerf it will be pvp/wvw only, i guess. THey can’t nerf quickness even more in pve.

You should buy it, its worthy.
Incapacitation is a good sigil, I’ve used it on my Druid (Zerk) and also Guardian. I was actually expecting it to be nerfed a while back.
OP – Solid build (not that I’m an expert, but it looks solid
). Good video, fun. Tasteful music.
Thanks.
Already 45% of my is commanders stats and I use a mix of zerk and muarder so I decided to your your sigil of rage ideas and holy smokes I feel like I’m cheating it’s pretty op. Even tried a variation in PvP that used the seekers amulet.
What peeps aren’t realizing that when you can abuse quickness like that your celestial form skill 4 heals for so much even with out healing power simply because it cycles throw really quickly. Plus your CA form spikes up too. Having an easy time against everything cept burn guards and Condi traiblaizers warriors.
Seriously though this build is quite powerful
Exactly! You get so much stronger with quickness on top of those 25 might stacks. Your CA skills are executed faster, healing faster, attacking faster.
I tried out something similar the day they buffed WH but I just couldn’t get into it.
It works great when people are willing to fight but I spend so much of my time chasing after people that it doesn’t work for me. I would rock the kitten out of this build if they would just re work sword 2 into forward or directional leaps.
Great video.
Thanks.
I feel you. When people just doesn’t want fight me i pop those 25 sec quickness and start to attack with staff. Usually they burn all theirs cds trying to escape or just turn back and fight me because their hp is going down really fast.
But yeah, if a thief or warrior decides to run there is nothing you can do about.
Nice original build you got there. Using HOT stats is always a good thing since you get more stat points in total. Personally I would prefer Evasive Purity since you get rid of annoying cover conditions and poison but your choice makes sense with this build.
I’m pretty sure that you can kill everybody who wears offensive stat combos ( kitten stunbreak-heal warriors might take some time ). Since I tried out a lot recently with druid I’m pretty sure you will have trouble killing tankier builds. Maybe equipping more offensive stats could help and sigill of doom to cripple enemy heals.
For outnumbered fights this setup is fine except if you deal with boon corruption – but let’s face it, Reaper is just pathetic in WvW.
The recent Warhorn buffs are ok, but I hate the fact that the birds destealth you. I would still go with GS. Or honestly I would not equip melee weapons at all since they are underwhelming compared to every other class with melee options( but thats just my opinion).
Maybe I will try out your build but I will probably go back to my rampager-cele-hybrid crap since it kittens on nearly every class in 1v1.
Keep it up!
Thanks, mate.
I can kill tanky builds just okay, since if they are tanky they don’t have a great dmg output, so i’ll pretty sure outlive them.
But warriors are a different beast these days. They can get up to 3~4k armor with +25k hp, nearly 3k power and high crit chance/dmg in theirs “tanky” build, on top of that tons of boon sustain and crazy heals on stunbreak. Tbh only builds who can actually win that are condi builds, otherwise it will end up in a draw or the fight resetting.
On that topic, i just lost to a tanky warrior in this build, i guess, yesterday. I think it was the first defeat to a warrior i had using this updated version of build. Usually i win most of fights or then we just give up and accept the draw.
About the weapon choice, yeah people are welcome to change their weapons since they don’t need to copy the entire build and use, you just gotta use what you are comfortable with. But i still believe in a fair comparison, sword/wh is stronger than gs, because the gs burst is so unreliable and hard to land.
Anyways, thank you very much for the comment, man. I like to talk about build, choices and stuff.
ewww, 23k hp for roaming?
Dump marauders for berskers or something. That’s just shameful.
oh wait, I take that back, you kite people to death so dmg isn’t too important I see. Disreguard my post.
Yeah i like high health for roaming because i always get into trouble and in JQ 1v1’s always turn into 1 v many, also high hp make your life easier when dealing against condition bombs.
The quickness uptime make up for the the low crit dmg %, together with the nearly permanent 25 might stacks.
On a note, people doesn’t need specific follow the build’s choice, its just an idea, they can play with status for a more offensive approach or even a more tankier with full soldier/knight, idk.
Stop making kiddies Cry…Too stronk Donee =D
(waves from Ochit/Kalo)
I am pretty sure its the opposite, right? You made me cry on thief today in spvp, kay?!
I switched teams next match to run with rather than against you =D I was testing another build idea this morning, didn’t mean to kitten in your cheerios lol
Ah ic. I was running the glorious and only build worthy playing sword/dagger on my thief. I just enjoy that so much.
How do you think a shout/survival hybrid would fare (dual ranged options)
I understand that the boons are better on the wh and there is 2 forms of stealth with sword/wh vs. LB only having one. Still good condi cleanse and despite the vine surge removing immob, its the hard CC’s I come across a lot so I replaced Guard with Lightning Reflexes. If CA coodlown wasn’t touched I wouldn’t care so much.
Please let me know what you think? (I swap between Entangle and SotP pending on what I go up against)
I also realize that the stealth from LB isn’t as realiable, however 1500 range is too much to ignore and where I can get a good 10k+ rapid fire burst, I can’t swap.
Although the defensive part of Wilderness survival is def welcoming to Druid right now.
Please look/help my build senpai
You have a pretty solid build there, man. Living the life on zerkstyle!
You have more condition cleanse than my build due to Wilderness Knowledge, pretty solid.
The only change i’d make there is the sigil of incapacitation. I really don’t see a reason to have those since you are running both ranged weapons, so you won’t have any issue hitting your targets and is not like they can runaway from you on longbow since you can trigger ancient seeds anytime you want once they are on the run. I’d swap those sigil for air or blood, tbh.Longbow is a great weapon, i use it sometimes also. My only beef with it is that its a projectile weapon and everyone run reflects in WvW and i don’t know why.
Keep up the good roaming, man.
Heya and thanks for taking a look at it (im the dude who commented on your YT vid about going staff/lb and asked for your opinion there but ist easier for me to ask here, lol).
I chose that sigil do to other druids/zerkers and anything that stealth that have more mobility than I to help keep their speed down so I can stay ranged as much as possible as I do best at range. I was thinking endurance instead for the protection on dodge, however if someone does run (as lots of people do, especially those durned teefs, I want to be able to slow them down so I can catch up and kill em (where I don’t have sword to go ballerina to catch up).
I personally hate dueling druids (prior to this build) as it always ended up in a stale mate and I wanted to be able to 1 up them. I don’t know many good druids to spar against tho so I don’t have much practice. I see other classes more in WvW.
Ah ic, so you do have a purpose behind the incapacitation sigil. So keep it on, for sure.
Strange, i run mostly into druids and mesmers nowsday.I see lots of them as well. Usually get 3 out or 4 wins with them. Hopefully some day I can run into ya and learn from a druid that I know is better than me so I can fight ya and learn. Druid isn’t in the best place but I will be darned if I let mine die.

We are still in a good place. Whenever you think we are in a bad place, remember of all necros’s nerf since day 1. lol
We can setup some duels for practice if you feel like doing it. Are in against JQ ? Msg me in-game whenever, better than we flood this post.I was facing JQ last week but all I found was zergs.
With the build, do you think that the sigil I chose is a good enough reason to keep it or do you think that endurance or another one is better suited for the set up?
Was also debating this…closer to yours but a bit different:
Aw, missed by 1 week.
Honestly if it was me running that build, i’d still swap the incapacitation over something else. Probably air or blood.
Regards the build, i think the survival one is stronger since you are running with 0 boon duration.I usually use blood and air. I may just use something for now and see if I need more DPS or healing. Thanks for your input and I will look ya up. (may have met ya in Auric Basin and already have ya in my list lol).
Cool. Send me a msg whenever you feel like.

Do you have a link to the build? We don’t want to see you killing random idiots we want your ideas.
My bad, i forgot to make a gw2skills link for it. Also in the video now has a (skip to build) button that will go lead you directly there.
Here is the build calc link: https://goo.gl/FkYaA4
So condi ranger for fractals rather than Druid?
Condi druid is also better than Zerk Druid for fractals. I play either condi ranger or druid in fractals depending on group setup i get.
It’s with great pleasure that i come here today to present you the new version of the shout trooper build for druids in wvw roaming. I’ve been test it for a month now and after the patch its still holds with some buffs to warhorn, that are very welcome, btw.
Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3rrj4qyDVA

Viper is way better for fractals on ranger. I played both already.
Lynnie thanks!
Shout Trooper is my fav build in WvW; and even open world PvE as support. One may argue with SotP nerf it’s LESS useful, but I disagree. I still love my shouts. But it maybe needs tweaking look forward to your changes!
No worries! The updated version can already be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3rrj4qyDVA
Tomorrow i’ll be updating the written guide on metabattle as well.
Shout Trooper is and always will be the way, boys!
OBS.: Going to be updating the build post-patch this weekend.

Any roamer, especially power based would be using CA to get the invis + super speed and the condi clear and stun break from the druid line… The heals are just icing on the cake. It is literally the reason I even consider the Druid trait line that extra active survivability is much needed and ancient seeds is really good with bow / gs , my main weapon.
It looks like celestial druid might have taken a hit ? Maybe , not sure.
Exactly! the ones who suffered with this change in WvW are the zerg druids who actually use CA to heal the party.
Imo, staff always was better than LB since everyone runs some sort of reflect in WvW. It get to the point i get annoyed and just leave my LB in bank.
That’s the thing, you won’t be able to sustain that 0 HP now. Base heals got nerfed by 30-50%, I wouldn’t call that ‘fine’.
I mean, with 0HP, why run druid? Condi clear is nice I guess, but can already do that a bunch of different ways with Ranger, same with stealth. Ancient seeds is decent but not the best elite out there. The rest of the druid traits are….meh.
Heals that got nerfed are in CA. So my CA regenaration will be the same, taking the same time to fill up. I barely use the heals in CA as roamer. If i take my time to heal in CA i get more damage than heals, unless i am fighting someone with no gap closer or no ranged weapon. Most thing i use in CA is #3 > #5.
Right, so why take druid at all? You’d be better off with almost anything else if you are using CA only for a condi clear / quick stealth.
Which is pretty much what anet wants. Druid isn’t supposed to replace the core ranger, just augment it. The annoying part is core ranger is so bad everyone thinks they have to run druid even if its not doing anything for them.
From roaming perspective you want druid for some extra heals, stealth, condition cleanse and staff. And there are still pretty good ranger builds out there.
Ofc i’d be happy with some buffs still, but just saying.
Back the double bow wvw/spvp meta? used to hate fight against that build.

so question im poundering about after this patch
what to do gear wise for my druid for fractals condi or power based for fractals
idk whats best for that scene
any can give some advice
thx in advance
I run as condi and i am satisfied. Its enterily up to you. both will do just fine.
We are going to be fine. As solo roamer and 0 healing power i usually took 12~15 sec to fill up CA on a 1v1 and about 9~10 sec to fill in outnumbered fights. So its almost the same.
It really is the same
Exactly. It affected the most people who used to run high healing power for roaming, which i find unnecessary or zerg druids, those ones got really wrecked, because 5 seconds in a GvG means a lot.

Thanks for watching, guys.
Just please don’t make Druid unplayable without healing power stats, if then you’ll be killing build diversity. We need heals + damage to fill up C. Avatar and i really don’t want play a healer in WvW/Spvp. Don’t force me go into old ranger because you know, we all bought the expansion, right? I want play the “new” stuffs.
We’ll still have our place as DPS/support if they don’t touch our dps. We can push our group dps further with spirits/gotl/GoE. With changes on healing we aren’t the ones who gonna suffer, but the viper necro is, since their dps is only good when they have tons of minions alive.
I don’t think we will get any pve nerf since we have our own place in META with heals, and if we decide to play as DPS we are not one of the top dps professions, but we do decent while buff our entire party. Honestly i think we should get some pve buff instead, if not, shall remain the same.
Seems like i was bugged. Had to unselect and then select again my pets(smokescale and bristleback). Now its working just fine.
It is currently working for me in WvW. Testing it as im typing this.
God kitten it! So just my character is bugged? I already tried deactivate beastmastery line, re-choose the trait and it doesn’t work. Not showing on screen(green numbers) nor chat log(healing).
Edit: I just asked a friend to log in his druid and test it in WvW. At first he had the same issue but after 30 seconds or so the trait kicked in and started to work.
I’ll give it a try again later.

Works just fine on my end. Pet is healed for 125hp/sec with healing (green) numbers popping on-screen.
After seeing your comment i went out test some more. I just confirmed the bug.
Natural healing is working fine in PvE and SPvP, but its NOT working in WvW.
I don’t know how should i proceed to get this to dev’s knowledge?
Hey, guys. I was theorycrafting this weekend and i noticed natural healing is not working properly? At least not for me.
The 125 heal/sec is not popping. I recorded some footage and watched it frame by frame.
Anyone knows what is going on or its just me?
I really don’t see a reason for this trait get nerfed. It has a decent cooldown now, 10 seconds and we don’t have a reliable CC source to proc it on cooldown. Maybe longbow #4, but i don’t see a reason.
And its the only worthy pick GM trait in druid line. If they nerf it, better buff something else like Lingering Light. I could imagine uses for that if buffed, maybe applying weakness instead or along with blind.
