Alone, Decimate Defenses takes too long to build proper crit chance; I only get it from RS auto. That’s why I prefer Sinister over Carrion here. But in group settings, then for sure I’d get carrion instead; perma 25 vuln is pretty much a given ! And group settings with warrior and herald will provide so many might as ZudetGambeous said that Chilling Victory will not be needed anyway. Also SR adept can be changed to Speed of Shadows instead for the same reason, same goes for Strength sigil.

Errr … i think decimate defenses is a better choice in that slot. If you pick Unyielding blast, that is 2 vulnerability stacks every shroud attack, which means its only 6.5 seconds for 25 vulnerability stacks, about the same time to stack your burns.
And new contents won’t be the bursty kind of fight, as Dev said. Idk just personal preference, ofc.

Necros will still have a place as roamer. Don’t overthink it, just enjoy the game and your class.

I have made a selection of the best 1v1s/duels i had across the BWEs. The closest ones or more exciting … you get the idea.

I was using traps close to same way, though for me adding in wall of deflection was the thing that good trap build work even better. This made alot people either engage in melee and get trap “bombed” or disengage, since longbow putting out pressure and they expected traps.
Also on skyhammer did you ever place dragon mav over one those breaking “windows” on the floor? For me that meant free kill everytime :P (record was 3 people dropping to they doom with 1 dragon mav)

Honestly after playing around with longbow and traps. I am having hard time with normal guardian in spvp

Yeah, i am pretty successful in rankeds with my rabid condi necro, although i don’t think terror is a good choice right now. 1 second fear = 1 terror dmg tick is not worthy, imo.
You can just get MoC for a lower cd heal, corrupt boon and CPC vs ranged teams.
Or PoC for extra boon corruptions against boon oriented teams.

I don’t think it will fit the spite line theme, more power oriented, tho. But would be a nice change and it would be much appreciated. Would make my reaper build even stronger.

Had some time to record the reaper in WvW. All the footage was recorded in an hour or two so you might see some enemies twice. Overall its a lot better compared to regular power necro. You can stick your targets now and have so much chill acces. Also, chilling nova is another proc! More procs = more kills = more rage = more fun C:<

Hollts I play only Power necro after I tought Condi Necro at its peak a year ago roughly became to easy in 1v1. I do love Power Necro and can kill most I come across 1v1 tho the fact is if I were Condi I could just do it faster. I think Condi Necro has its hard counters aswell: DS Eles as ppl mentioned but just make the Staff Sinister and thats not an issue… but yea I still cant Condi like Donee but doubt many can.

Power necro as a Solo Roamer has issues tho, its consider a easy lockdown target… Hollts jukes aside its weak to this and after 3y playing it lack the sustain of say a Condi nec. The biggest issue of all as Power Necro is we cant really shake the enemy yet we dont want them up close, this is something the Reaper will turn completly upside down: The Reaper and the Greatsword is suited for a Power Necro that wants the enemy up close and thrives on it & the disengage or kite issue isnt really gonna be there then.

Intensity stacking Condis made it very hard to Solo Roam on Power builds, was alot better before Burn,Poison,Confusion changes

Just like some people here are saying, condition necro is strong (also in my opinion) however we can be countered heavily by some classes and sometimes some builds in general (don’t worry too much about it as it does happen).

It also mostly depends on the way you play against your opponents.

In most case scenario necromancer (same as every class tbh) can match up to most or possibly all classes when it comes to roaming, since you’ll never know what type of opponents you’ll be matched up against (sometimes you might do since most people play meta) therefore you need to just prep yourself on how you may counter that opponent/opponents.

If you’re unfortunate enough to encounter a good/decent ele who’s running diamond skin (specially if they are celestial) then that’s just unfortunate; the best choice is just try to escape.

Some Mesmer builds (anti-condition) and most thief builds (those who run SA) can be quite tricky to go up against during roaming due to the fact that they can reset a fight against you with their access to invisibility and decent to good condi cleanse.

Warriors you’ll rarely see them roaming around with brawler’s recovery, signet of stamina, superior sigil of cleansing, cleansing ire, berserker stance with stun build e.g hammer and mace + shield, and -40% condition duration food with hoelbrak -20% condi duration. (The only time you might see this is if you’re doing 1v1 and he wants to heavily counter you). Most of the time you just have to kite them around, corrupt the right boons then you can win.

In 1v1 duels scenario (DON’T WORRY TOO MUCH ABOUT IT!!!) since people would always try to counter your build no matter what. Skill can be involved but if two players who are equally skilled go up against each other but one has a build that heavily counters you in general then most of the time you will lose (specially if you make one mistake).

Condi Necro for roaming isn’t bad at all, but Power Necro is lifeeee!!! I always go back to it fast after playing condi Necro. Seems Ppl are getting smarter and bringing more condi mitigation by way of traits, gear, util, and lemongrass. I always bring a lot when roaming and usually hope when I find an enemy they’re using condi(unless maybe it’s Done).

I suffer enough when people run -40% condi duration food.

Condi is a great choice for roaming like people said, but facing a zerg as any condi build is pretty much like bashing your face into a wall. Or fighting D/D ele.

I don’t have any trouble vs D/D ele, unless they are diamond skin. Then i have to rely on luck and pray for them to be bad at health management so i can get them lower than 90% hp.

I thought reaper couldn’t get any better, but turns out in BWE3 it just did. I think i got more experience with it and with my new build. So i put together a video with my best fights on that weekend. Hope you enjoy and thanks for watching.

An approximation based on what I was seeing without any condition duration increase in spvp.

After actually calculating it properly it would flip between 13-14 while doing nothing but sustaining it (ie just using the reaper auto attacks). Which is still some fairly nasty damage from just the burn, with no outside modifiers basically sitting at 4250 burn damage per second on the low end (no might or vulnerability applied), and a little over 7k per second once everything is running.

This is all of course without factoring in the power based damage from the autos which with the hybrid stats would actually be fairly significant especially at max might.

And how many other conditions can you keep up while in this burning rotation? Because if we only keep the burn itself we would still be weaker than others classes.

Smoke field will not work. We’ll lose one of the best if not the best damaging field plus devs wouldn’t give necros the ability to stealth. Just not gonna happen.

Was basically running this over the weekend (minus the ascended gear). Self sustains about 16-17 stacks of burning while in shroud and as long as it’kittenting at least 2 targets that aren’t hitting me can sustain shroud on it’s own. Shroud autos maintain 25 stacks of might and vulnerability fairly easily on top of it to keep both power and condition damage high.

I don’t see you stacking 17 burn on that build. Maybe i am missing something? Would you mind explain it better, from where come your burns? Because i’d enjoy run dungeons in a condition build, which i have ascended armor, instead of zerker.

Only way i find to escape on my necro is being lucky and trick my enemies by using spectral walk.
On reaper it is much better. RS#2 really give you the “mobility” you were lacking before. I escaped more fights in thsi BWE3 than i have escaped in this year playing necro.

From what i’ve seen about this first raid boss, necros are not necessary and can be easily replaced. I wish the others bosses have mechanics that make necros really wanted.
Like a consistent boon removal. We can have that every 5 sec with RS#2.

Only thing i would change from my experience in this BWE3 is RS#2. Sometimes it doesn’t work as intended, specially if the ground is not leveled. Like a hill/ramp or something.
