Making money from twitch =/= making money from selling in-game items for money. I have no clue how you reach this idea.

How many people have been perma banned for buying gold? How many have been banned for having someone run raids for them?

How should I know how many people are banned? If proof exists (hint: in this case there is), they should be punished. Your logic seems to be if other players got away with it, these guys should get a pass too.

Are you intentionally being dense? Selling raids is purely an in game gold interaction. Gold selling and what these players did was sell a service for real life money. I’d rate this worse personally because doing this type of nonsense in a pvp setting should be unacceptable.

They gained no advantage thus they did not cheat. This evidenced by the simple fact they are just flat out better than the competition. The phrase you need to use is “broke the rules” which we can all agree they did.

Please don’t bring up gold selling and punishment b/c you’d prolly lose 40% of your player base if they actually punished people for that.

Again, idk why you are so fixated on cheating. The point is they broke ToS. Buying gold isnt cheating yet you would still get a permaban. Is this some sort of attempt to downplay what they did?

Pulling numbers out of your ass isnt an argument.

The two messages given work together just fine. They are not permitted to play in ranked during seasons, but they may play anywhere else. What’s wrong with that? The rule they broke doesn’t actually ruin the game for anyone outside of a competitive environment.

Except they are playing ranked during seasons on new accounts. (And there is no “selective” dishonor, its wording is as such they they cannot pvp at all.)

You miss the point. There’s no punishment. Let’s see; get paid $400 usd to cheat in a tourney. Account gets banned. Buy a new account. You’re still $300 + USD in the black. That’s not punishment.

I’d just not bother, most of the people defending them and anet are their friends. These people dont care, they just want to play with them again.

1. They didn’t cheat. They violated the ToS yes, but didn’t cheat.
2. They weren’t banned but had existing accounts get perm dishonor
3. Let it go they were punished already

1. I don’t see how that’s relevant? Cheating is just another way of breaking ToS. ToS being broken is the issue, not how they did it. If I accept real life money for selling gold, I would be perma banned. They accepted real life money for AT rewards, please show me the difference.

2. They applied dishonor to players not accounts, why else would they have dishonored alts that had nothing to do with the issue in the first place. The devs simply lack spine because of the relationships they have with these players.

3. Getting $300+ and still being allowed to play isn’t a punishment.

Why people still crying? If you lost just get good. Val and jeffi are still crying because they lost and probably going to try to get them ban, look for excuses, so on.

I don’t even play in AT and this doesn’t make me want to either. It has more to do with integrity of the game than saltiness. Anet should just allow people to buy from gold sellers if a slap on the wrist is all you get.

People were under the impression anet actually did something to punish them. If the idea was that they could just make alts then its a toothless dishonor, shouldn’t have even bothered in the first place. GW2 pvp is already small, why should someone bother playing competitively when this is tolerated? The game mode has no integrity.

Please list all firebrand related bugs here so we can have a central location for them as demo comes to an end.

Bug. Axe 2 does not properly scale with stats. Damage in tooltip is not what is actually dealt.

Bug. Renewed Focus does not refresh tomes if virtue modifying traits in Virtues line are taken.

Qol/Bug. Stowing tome during Renewed Focus causes Renewed Focus to go on CD and tome to go on cooldown.

Bug. Renewed Justice minor trait does not refresh Tome of Justice.
edit: based on commenter below this may be working as intended.

Bug. “Stand your Ground” triggers Stalwart Speed 5 times instantaneously.

Qol/Bug. Weighty Terms does not properly clarify that mantra recovery is lowered not skill cooldown.

Bug. Mantra of Flame tool tip does not update when Weighty Terms is taken.

Qol/Bug. Smiter’s Boon and Healer’s Retribution trigger on Mantra of Solace’s initial cast. Either they should trigger every time Mantra of solace is used or on the last charge. Inconsistent with Liberator’s Vow which triggers on every charge.

It doesn’t. But at this point it is accepted that elite specs are better than core ones. DH got little mobility but was ranged. Firebrand is a melee spec that has no way to get to targets.

Needs to change:
Remove cast time on tomes
Fix trait-tome interaction related bugs
Adjust Renewed Focus so we can stow tome while using RF
Adjust Healing power ratios on Resolve Tome
Smiter’s Boon should work on third cast of Solace, not initial cast

Would like to see change:
Axe 3 pull work more consistently. If you change directions mid animation it misses.
edit: It seems I was misunderstanding how this skill works. Currently it just pulls things in front of you. I was under the impression it required a target.
Mantra immob trait and Slow trait seem out of place. (Some mantras are ally-aimed so immob is useless. Firebrand does not bring a ton of CC so slow seems weak compared to other 2 traits)
Liberator’s Vow becomes current Stalwart Speed. (currently Vow is only viable with mantra heal)
Stalwart Speed becomes “Gain 25% MS while wielding 1H weap, Axe 2 applies quickness”
Mantra’s either become PBAoE or larger cones.

Thanks for the comments everyone but I have a question:

Does anyone else agree or disagree with the 2nd point made in my post?
About how very high DPS changes not only the meta but how the game is played?

Its a bit early to get a good idea on the meta. HoT beta felt much more absurd for what its worth. A lot of “extremely OP damage” talk can be attributed to lack of experience with and against the classes. DH was considered broken in beta but when full game came out it became clear at higher end play that it was outclassed.

Yeah holomancer really is fine im not complaining about the tanky side compared to scrapper all i’m saying is i would really like some more stab on it.
Maybe a trait when your reach the next heat stage u get stab or something a like.
Scrapper has more block/evade to counter to the lack holo does not.

And holo does more burst than scrapper. I’m not sure what justifies the stab.

@slayersixx to add to that, trying to weapon swap out of tome while in RF cancels RF AND puts tome on cd. F2 heals for less than most classes can auto you for even with healing power.

I cant say I entirely agree with this perspective. I’ve had ok success with firebrand in pvp.

Mantras are gonna be pve only but I can live with that.
Tomes just need cast time removed or lowered.
f2 should scale a bit better with healing power
Mantra trait and Slow trait seem out of place

Wishlist(this stuff may be OP or needs testing):
Axe 1 attack range increase (150-200)
Axe 3 pull is longer (750-900) especially if they are going to keep it as it is currently where you can miss if the change directions mid animation.
Liberator’s Vow becomes current Stalwart Speed
Stalwart speed becomes something like "You move 25% faster while wielding axe (or 1H weaps) and axe 2 gets quickness.
Trait that gives 1 stab when entering a tome.

To be honest its mostly fine, just remove cast time on them.
Give resolve tome better healing power scaling
Fix all bugs from traits and RF
Allow us to stow tome while using RF so we can get the recharge and not cancel RF.

The cone problem needs to addressed along with mantras by either making them PBAOE or increasing cone size.

edit: i dont care much for the pages into initiative idea.

Firebrand axe 3 also works in an odd manner, you have to be facing the target to cast it but once you do, change directions mid animation, it will track with the way you are facing and “miss”.

I take back what I said about tomes they feel EXCEPTIONALLY weak. I thought the virtue tome would act like a 2nd full heal like cele form does for druid and the courage tome would provide more defense but the cast times and weak pay off , make them insta kill fodder in pvp.

the trait that reduces the cooldown of mantras does not reduce the cooldown (it just adds the immob)

I believe it reduces charge recovery time not the full recharge time of the mantra

Initial feelings:

Axe skills feel pretty good
-Axe 1 has a 2nd “free” hit that gives another chance to proc bleed if traited
-Axe 2 really needs a boon, it just feels wrong to walk over a symbol and get no benefit from it. We need to get something out of it because in pvp noone is going to sit in it for an extended period of time
-I wish Axe 3 animation was cleaner. An actual pull of some sort instead of a magical axe.

Mantras, overall not a fan of cones. Especially on healing/defensive mantras, keep it on offensive ones if you must.

Solace- decent heal, the cool down needs to be shortened a bit. Mesmers can stealth/port away after they use their mantra heal. We remain sitting ducks.

Potent Haste – really strong mantra but mainly for pve. Quickness is good in pvp as well but you cannot afford to waste slots on a utility that just gives buffs.

Flame Rush – quite good, gives consistent burns. Probably still not good enough for pvp as its a unreliable cone attack that gives no defense.

Echo of Truth – Not sure what this is supposed to do. The damage on it is pretty low, gives no defense, and not quite an offensive skill either. I think this was intended to give cover boons for burn guard but seems unnecessary now that we have access to so many burns. Almost like a utility offensive skill, may see some play if it can neutralize players in a 1v1? (probably not but maybe)

Opening Passage: Regen is a really weak boon, I dont think this skill can beat out contemplation. Especially since regen is easily overwritten and weak without healing power whereas contemplation can be traited for an instant heal as well. Perhaps consider adding another defensive boon like resistance or protection to it. It doesn’t even come close to smite conditions power now that I think about it.

Portant of Freedom (Elite) – AoE stun break is strong but idk why this was made when stand your ground exists. If it sees any play it may be WvW. The third charge is not very strong on this skill either. Going with a bell theme, maybe something like a strong daze/stun nearby foes on third use.

Traits – Only really have an issue with one atm

Weighty Terms- immob is awkward on healing mantras (These ones should not be cones) You want to aim them at allies but immob does nothing there. Also needs text clarification that charge recovery is shortened not the actual recharge of the mantra

Tomes: These feel really nice once you are in them but there are too many gates on its power.
Cast time on tome, Page limit, Tome recharge time, Skill recharge time, Skill cast time. The biggest change I would make here is to remove the cast time on tomes. Tomes having a cast time really makes them feel clunky to me. I think the only reason it was added was because they chose to give tomes quickness when we entered them.
I’d rather have the quickness removed when we enter than have a cast time to enter the tome. If the issue is counterplay then make a symbol really obvious above our heads about what tome we entered.

I realize a lot of what I am comparing it to is current skills and Anet may not want to just give us better versions but the utility/power/defense of the skills, even if different, needs to be comparable to what already exists or these skills will never see play.

Anyway, hopefully I’ll be able to play some more and refine some of this over the weekend.

edit: Wild idea on tomes, remove the cast time completely but make us do something gain pages over time, skills can be gates via number of pages requires to use the skill or simply increase the cooldown on stronger tome skills accordingly.

Why not wait for the weekend to make sure? Then give feedback if it truly is awful. The idea that they are conal does not in and of itself make them terrible. If, for example, I have to face the direction I want to use the cone, then that makes it far worse.

The main thing Hot has shown me is how reliant guardian as a class is on its virtues. If core guardian is ever going to compete with the elites the virtue CD on them needs to go down

f1 20 sec- 10/15 sec
f2 30 sec – 15/20 sec
f3 45 sec – 20/25 sec

The active of the core guardian virtues is simply too weak as they currently stand.

The main worry I have with firebrand is similar, the skills are gated so you can only used 5-8 of them. The skills themselves have cooldowns. And on top of that the tomes have long cooldowns. The triple combo of this leads me to believe we will be locked into Renewed Focus as usual.

That ‘worst type’ of burn guard took me to Plat 2 top 250 on my first sPvP season. Sounds more like a L2P issue on your part.

And it also seems like you know nothing about Guardian and are simply spouting off

I’m glad you got that far, but that doesn’t mean its remotely good. Since about the third pvp season there has been a significant drop off in higher end players since rewards kept sucking. The fact you only got to plat 2 and are still in top 250 speaks volumes.

You are aware that the dragonhunter has 2 traits that sunergies with f1 burn right? applying vulnerability AND cripple everytime f1 triggers. Maybe you should go read up on guard before you comment on this forum.

It’s spelled synergies and running pure glass traits like that should lead to guardian being the first one focused and dying every teamfight. I don’t even like DH on burn guard but if you do run it, it should still be hunter’s determination and hunter’s fortification that should be ran. The cripple and vuln are irrelevant compared to what those other traits give you in survivability.

Even dome shield 5 KB can be setted to criple players …..

So a burn guard should spec heavy light and run shield over a focus or torch just to cripple? I’m done here.

A.) There was a 2000+ upvote post on reddit, so not just a handful of people on the forums

B.) they ALSO nerfed the Speed of Shadows trait to remove the shroud recharge reduction so that also applies to your post.

burn guard can apply a lot of vuln and cripple as well.

literally wut? burn guard has no cripple sources from their skills or traits so the only way this is possible is from a sigil. Their only source of vunlerability is f1 if traited to do that which is completely awful and chains of light on scepter which applies 3 stacks.

This is why noone takes the forums seriously.

First of all, if you look at the damage its not even a nerf at all
Secondly, we do not know if tome of justice has a pvp version and we only see the pve one in the tool tip
Third, the specs aren’t released. People have found conflicting concepts in other traits/skills that may need to be polished a bit.

1. Increase loyalty pip. 1 -> 2

2. Keep outnumbered pip at 2

3. Increase base reward for winning skirmish 1,2,3 -> 2,3,4

4. The first skirmish you play in per day gives additional 3 pips once only (must remain in a wvw map until skirmish ends and have t3 map participation) [Scouts can gain map participation through commander at lower rate] Each event in wvw has an associated impact score which would contribute to participation.
T3 requires 600 impact score
Player Kill – 10
Guards/yaks – 50
Supply Camps – 100
Towers – 150
Keeps – 200
Participation decay begins after 10 min.

5. You must complete a WvW event or kill another player within 10 min or decay of -1 per minute begins on pips. (Scouts exempted or given longer timer)

Ktraining at its core is a human nature problem not a game problem. People just want rewards not to enjoy an experience. Not sure how ANET is supposed to fix that mentality. With new rewards outnumbered sides still get pips and there should be less outnumbered people with release of rewards. So with even numbers its up to the players to actually want to fight vs ktrain.

I disagree. Putting discussions on the sociological aspects of humanity aside… My experience with this, as well as a lot of players I’ve come to run with in WvW, is that people firstly enjoyed WvW for the experience (talking about pre-merged WvW here). Sure, people wanted some better rewards and other things that helped them feel proud about accomplishments involved within that experience. And for them to fix some really old bugs. To sum it up, we were enjoying ourselves purely out of the experience and were just asking for more of Anet’s attention to the game mode. Unfortunately, Anet took this as “Let’s decimate all that made this game mode fun and just give them shiny stuff!”

Shiny things are great, but we all know it only lasts for a small amount of time. What are they going to do, just poop out a new shiny thing all the time just to keep the influx of players? While ignoring the fact that so many of their older players have quit, for many reasons that they willfully have brushed off?

What this update tells me is that they simply want to continue in the route of giving people new stuff to play with long enough just so they can bring out another shiny thing as soon those people get bored. Like we’re tiny skritts with ADD. Of course, if you’re a new player, that may not be the case, as there’s a ton of things in the game that you’re still learning/experiencing, etc. I don’t think they’re interested in keeping players, more than they just want new players flooding in. And I get it, they’re a business, as many would like to point out. But from what I’ve seen, a good business knows how to balance keeping their old timers content while still attracting new comers. But from what I’ve also seen, Anet struggles with balance. So… Good luck and have fun with the continuation of ktrains. I will continue to miss the old wvw, for despite its lack of rewards and abundance of bugs, I still found myself logging in everyday and playing for hours for the mere fun of it.

So you think removing all rewards will somehow revive the game mode? I’m confused and certainly disagree with that conclusion.

Ktraining at its core is a human nature problem not a game problem. People just want rewards not to enjoy an experience. Not sure how ANET is supposed to fix that mentality. With new rewards outnumbered sides still get pips and there should be less outnumbered people with release of rewards. So with even numbers its up to the players to actually want to fight vs ktrain.
