Everyone will have some “Def” Ring or something from FotM so just put it in and you ain’t no one shot no moe :P … then just dodge to midrange, and kite kite kite

Phase 1:

Mobs: Kill TEH MOBS!

Phase 2:

1 Golem / Mini-Laser

Stay on the Stones/Cases whatever… or use them to jump over the “mini-laser”!

Kill the Golem!

Tip:
1) Dodge does NOT work!
2) Invulnerabilities / Stability does work, both is best ofc.
3) Group should stay together
4) Before killing the Mob make sure everyone lives!

Phase 3)

2 Golems / Maxlaser and Minlaser

in this Pase the Group needs to kite the Golems, and move with the Lasers, …

Tip:
you can use Invulnerability/Stability as a Oh kitten Button!

SOOOO!

Just did it with a pretty “decent” group to say nice:

The Boss is pretty easy, after a few tries you can manage to see through his mechanic!

1. Phase:

Boss has the Shield, the Group need to stay in the “Electro” Fields, which are made by the Champion!

Tip:
1) The Boss “targets” the one standing farest to her when she uses her Shadowstep!!!
2) The Bombs which the champion shoots are one fire bomb and one electro, each after another… so it’s quite easy to see when he will shoot the electro field!

A tactic would be:
Range kites her, has her main aggro, a “second tank” is someone who stands farest away from her to get all the Shadowsteps!

The Group stays between the boss and the Shadowsteptank!

For the 2nd Phase people need to run carefully!

Tips:

1) Don’t run carelessly into more bombs
2) A field takes less dmg than the impact of the bomb
3) You can stay in the near of the fields, where the bombs WERE before, its easier to manage to see where the next bombs will be or not…

@Anet: The instance is nice, and so are the bosses! DO NOT nerf them pls!

I had 2 Builds which got pretty screwed up!

One 30/0/30/0/10 – High Dmg/High Surviability Axe/Axe – Axe/Shield which is now not possible anymore as it was,

One 10/30/20/0/10 High Dmg Mega Burst Hammer / Sword-Shied, which also got destroyed …

but well… i found a new Build to toy with,… it’s also fun

Other game formats, like Conquest offer additional roles such as area control, both defensive (bunker builds) and offensive (trap rangers, necros), mobility vs static, etc. In general, any format that favors balling up and entire team is bad.”

The same can be said for conquest. Conquest created bunkers, then burst. TDM would support a dynamic for balanced builds. Conquest requires someone to stand in one place: how fun is that? Admittedly, mobility disparities could be a factor in TDM, but they are even more so in conquest, where people are expected to run from point to point, always having an incentive to disengage from battle.

“Balance is put under a microscope in Team Deathmatch. Because of limited roles and playstyles and the relatively short time in which most matches are decided, balance between professions is crucial. In an RPG where skill variety and profession identity is important, it’s near impossible to achieve this. On the other hand, the conquest format reduces the burden of balancing by providing alternative strategic decisions to overcome some profession imbalances. Balance still matters, but it doesn’t need to be as tight as for Team Deathmatch.”

Balance should be under a microscope. You still have 1v1 scenarios in conquest, and when one class’s build completely trumps any possible build of another, it feels like paper, scissors, rock. Balance is fairness, and I don’t really see any excuse or medium for less fairness.

“Team Deathmatch isn’t fun to watch. To an observer that doesn’t know a lot about the game, it just looks like a huge ball of particle effects and then someone dies. To be a good e-sport, someone with basic understanding needs to be able to observe progress or quickly make sense of what actions accomplish. When you have a score and a node control list, it’s clear who is winning. Also, Conquest tends to avoid a full 5v5 and often has encounters ranging from 2 to 6 players, which are much easier to follow.”

The same can be said for conquest. Who cares about the non-existent observers at this point? I think being saddled with esport expectations is the main factor that has killed PvP up to this point via this ‘conquest only’ stance, which has facilitated crap balancing few people can stand.

My best guess why Anet would only allow one game mode since beta: conquest is the best idea they can come up with for e-sports. That’s where the biggest pvp money is at, so not only will they not abandon it, but they won’t even allow anything else. At this point, the player base is so small they’re probably even more scared to introduce any other mode in fear of dividing the PvP community away from the prospect of big profits, yet I would argue a lot of money was made off of straight sales from hyping a good PvP game, and a lot more could be made just from having one.

We do have other game modes in currently, but they are in the towns and no one seems to play them at all. It’s like people don’t even realize the mini-games are even there

As for GW2, I love the endgame …. I played 300+ hours on all my chars, and i am still 72! So many things to see, so many enemies to kill,… so many Adventures lie ahead…

So you made clear that WoW endgame is not for you, but at least you went through a checklist of things to do and why you didn’t like them. However, you absolutely failed to explain why GW2 is better. “So many things to see, so many enemies to kill”… Almost every MMO out there has an exploration aspect. Almost every MMO has champions/bosses to kill. That includes WoW. Can you outline the endgame mechanics of GW2 in the same way you outlined WoW’s, AND why they’re better?

I enjoyed the comfort I had with the heart-quests and DEs, and the RPG Flair! … I mean, Stuff happens dude,…. these Mobs are not waiting and picking their noses …. I am so into my char when i chop them heads off ….!! I enjoyed every kitten fight …

No offense, but you sound like Anet’s PR team. Mobs are largely still waiting and picking their noses, unless there is a DE going on, in which case they appear out of thin air, bumrush nearby player, get killed, and dissappear.

I cannot explain, but for me the actual “playing” of GW2 is better …..
Fightig a Mob is just more fun here …than in any (ok Tera asida) other Game
Doing a Quest feels just different…
Winning a Fight in PvP is more rewarding, cause you know it was a fair fight, without gear 2 win …

In a dungeon you get more “interconnection” with your mates, you can interact way better

I don’t need to reroll to do another “role” — I can change my playstyle right away, during questing…

I don’t know man, I just feel so free here, just playing and having fun!

As for the Challange: Yes, some of the Bosses in the Exp Dungeons, are quite “tricky” but doable,… but most of them are very easy!

But I think “harder” content will come,… I hope at least!

So I read a lot of “complaints” about that endgame stuff… and that GW2 has none, ….

Let’s compare to other Games … like for example WoW, which I can compare best, because I played it 4 Years!

So in WoW “so called” Endgame was standing in Orgrimmar (or… I don’t know where the allis gathered) and doing what?

Endgame was basically Raiding the same 7 to 8 Bosses for the Billionth Time — hoping for Item X, Y or Z to drop, … and farming these Valor (or something, I already forgot) Marks until CAP! It takes about 4-5 Hours to do that,…

As for Raiding… How long did you honestly enjoy a Raid? 3-4 Weeks?
After these 4 (ok let’s say 4) Weeks it was just a burden, …. and a long wait until “next” Content Patch…

Ok as for filling that Valor Cap, you needed HC Dungeon (same lame dungeons you already done like a quadrilion times) OR the LFR (which dumbed down the “excitement” for the raid even more than it already was)

….and further?
Dailys? B* Please, if you were raiding you were getting better Items on the first Run,… doing 10000000000000 Dailys was not only boring but useless as well…

Crafting? Really? I don’t even call crafting endgame, because it’s just not!

Most People I knew spent their time in WoW chatting, or leveling an Alt, a little Raid here and there, but I was mostly the “chatting” which holded us…

As for GW2, I love the endgame …. I played 300+ hours on all my chars, and i am still 72! So many things to see, so many enemies to kill,… so many Adventures lie ahead…

And yes, I enjoy the little moments, like doing quite annoing mobs, when suddenly another guy steps in, we -silently- agree to play together, and have some epic moments,….

I enjoyed that one jump-quest, as much as I would enjoy a kitten Firstkill for a Boss, if not even more!

I enjoyed the little details hidden in the awesome made maps…

Beyond PvP -which differs from game to game- mostly PVE Content in all the standard mmos are the same … same XYZ-Marks farms,….
Just here you don’t need it,… Here you do it for the looks,… or just simply don’t!
This Game has a lot of Endgame to offer, if you keep your eyes opened! It offers a lot for people who still enjoy
games because of gameplay!

@ ANET: Please don’t get discouraged! I love this style, keep on with your plans!

WoW was my first, … loved it,… until the endgame hit hard and destroyed anything what had to do with “RPG” in my mind…

Everything went from exploring, fighting big kitt dragons, getting “Epic” Loot …. to Grind that kitting Raidboss, after the “Firstkill” it’s just a numb Grindfest, the “Hate-Breeded” Community made it much worse….

I guess if I would have started GW2 i still would live in my happy RPG Bubble, where questing isn’t just a boring task to do until I am 80, but a little “Adventure” on every corner…

I guess, I would care more about “Killing that kitten Dragon just to see if I can” instead of “Gief EPIXXXX PLX!!!!!11”

I guess I would be amazed by the “Multiplayer” Experience I had!

And I guess I would search for the “Save” Button, for a lot of time … since I came from Oldschool Games like Baldur’s Gate, Planescape Torment and Icewind Dale…

Hm, Heartseeker had a nerf? Anyways, ok, that maybe not …

I don’t know about that backstab, … I play a “non-glass cannon” Double Dagger Build, and I don’t rely so much on that skill…

If someone would play condition daggers, 3 is the skill to go, which remains unnerfed,…

If someone would play -let’s just say- a “bunker” thief (:D) than he cannot expect to kill anything, anyway…

yes, i agree… completly … just, that a double axe glasscannon warr should do about the same burst / dps as a double dagger thief ….

yet other classes can get as much as 25 stacks of might. thats why im wondering if us being able to stack might is really an issue.

i do think assassins signet could be an issue tho.

either way im sure anet will just nerf the base damage of backstab

I think nerfing base damage of backstab and heartseeker, a little, would solve the problem without touching “other builds” ….

@ Wolfe: I didn’t wanted to sound so “agressive”, was written fast, during work!
Just …, any class which is build around “DPS” should do about the same amout of dmg… and should also fall at about the same amount of incoming dmg

Seeing how you can also build “Def”, as well as other Builds such as “Support”, diversion of the classes should not be “Roles” but “Playstyles” (since classes are pretty different to play)…

So if you build your “Def” Build with thief, it should last as long as a def-build guardian,….

Else IF a class performs better, why not use that class …. I for one, already swiched to thief when playing tPvP with my mates … i was a dps Warrior before, but thiefs just perform better in tournaments …..

Our elementarist already thinks about switching to guardian, …

No, not an overall DMG Nerf, that would be insane, and I don’t want Thief to never be played again!

I think they need to rework stealth, so you’re instantly out…
I think also they need to make the “debuff” after stealth longer (like 5sek)…

@ Wolfe: Don’t missunderstand me, … I took Hammer as an Example for DMG per Skill!

Hammer might be not the “DPS” Tree, but it does have the hardest Hiting “Single” Moves, that means “biggest” Krit per Hit (hope i can make myself understandable)

So ok, even with Greatsword you cannot press 1 and Hit like 6-8 k Krits (EDIT here)! Not even with Axes (which is in fact the MOST Dps Weapon)

And you don’t need to tell me that how I should play my warrior, this was just an example of pure dps… Ofc I take “Def” Skills for War, but funny fact, as a “Glasscannon” Thief I don’t need “Def” Skills… I do have 2 Stealths, and the “Get over here!”-Skorpion Wire … Heck i don’t even use the Ultimate as often as it would be possible, because …. no need!

And don’t tell me that I as a Warrior need to Push 1 CD! …

Letz take the “OP” 100B Warrior Build, which is not Op – as experienced players will know -
I need to Bullcharge, Frenzy and 100B to get some Dmg done… and therefore I need 2/3 Utilities…

Anyways, even with Frenzy and Offhand Axe Whirl I don’t do the DMG that the Thief does when stealing the whirl from the warriors … just sayn, i destroyed 3 people with that kitt yesterday, …. —this i don’t know, why i could use it twice inbetween a few seconds --

Honest: I don’t even care if they get nerfed or not… For my Warrior, Thief ain’t SUCH a problem at all… I can eat their Burst, and kill them afterwards with less than 10% HP,… but when playing as mage, engineer or nekro it’s hell on earth!

Keg Brawl is PvP! You get PvP Points and stuff …

I’m all in for 2v2 / 3v3 Deathmatch Arena!

Most things had been said, as CTF, Team Deathmatch, KotH, …

Something like Murderball (Rift) would also be nice, …

And for GvG Fights… something like a “small” WvW would be nice,… something like every Team has a Tower (like in WvW with walls and stuff), first who takes over the enemy Tower wins …

Actually it’s done wrong,…. No Heals for 5 (Engi) and Thiefs (Cost all stamina + no stamina regen for a while) is WAAAAAY better!

Yeah Quickness has to be 1) nerfed 2) redone or 3) taken out!

It’s unfair if you don’t have it, not because of DMG (meh, maybe but it’s not THAT important)

MORE Unfair is the Finishing with Quickness…. you can’t do anything! If you don’t have it you are way behind your Opponents!

And the fact that warr gets 50% more DMG while others gain ONLY 5 “no heals” during that time,…

Does not make sence that warriors who should be in the Frontline, get the DUMBEST Drawback for them….

For me as Engineer … i don’t care about the “no heals” stuff,… lolrange anyone?

For a warrior i can just pop it when i Bullcharged someone, else i get stomped!

Funny how Thiefs try to deny their “OPness”

1) Thief Dmg is to strong! NO class makes more than 3k hits (crits)… Rouge Standard in a “NON MAX DPS BUILD” is 4-5k
2) Thiefs no Utility for the Group? Yeah tell this to my Mass Stealth!
3) What was that about “Stealth should not be all the time” … yeah

Ok, maybe I am a god, i don’t know, but I don’t think it’s legit that I just create a thief, pop in some traits … than go in tPvP and get the Silver Chest with Top-Player in 2/3 Games … me without even knowing all the skills … I just Stealth>and PoP-PoP 2,2,2,2,2 > Win!

Honestly that’s what I did first time with thief, now that I can play him “better” I never lost one 1v1 —> if you 5>1>2>5>1>2 … still good enough against also “beefier” builds

Anet should lower Prices for Gems, … I mean 10€ for ~800 Diamonds … which is not even 8 Gold …

for 100 Diamonds you get about 27 Silver … last when I checked!

so sick of getting to 2nd or 3rd round and only 4 showing up. or even the 1st round somehow starting with only 4. Please add like a 1 hour lockout that only counts down while you are logged in to avoid people who queue then log off.

And goes both ways, facing a team with only 4 is just as lame.

Totally Agree, nothing more annoying than losing 4v5 because some noobscrub wants to farm copper-chests!

For 8v8 Hotjoin there is no need for measurements against leavers!

If you play elementalist, expect to be stomped stealthed or not.

If you down your enemy too, the elementarist will win downed battle 100% — unless it’s a Warrior!

Btw: You can counter ANY (“unfair”) stomp with Battlerezz!

our own internal testing teams and alpha test groups learned to beat them using a combination of player skill, synchronous builds, strong use of cross-profession combos, use of cooking/consumable buffs (these make a huge difference!) and well formed player tactics.

’nuff said!

As for endgame:
Did you do ALL explorables yet?

Sure, may not be because of gear … but y’know… it’s fun!

Dunno, but for me it’s more fun to do stuff because of “being fun to play” rather than having to do it to grind Gear, which I need to farm further Gear, which … you guess it, is used to farm further Gear… which… ok, … i think you get it !

I’m lvl 52, and I feel epic!

It’s hard and exhausting to play “good” here, you have to watch out every minute, there ain’t no “BrainAFK Dungeon Runs”

I find it quite epic, to fight against that boss, Dodging his crap, Blocking his other crap, Keeping him off my other -less beefy- Mates!

It feels quite epic, being confronted with a situation you have to think first of what and how you do… try, fail, try, fail, try, success

Dungeons are hard but at the same time fun as hell!

yeah totally agree… but the system is actually best in 5v5 …

and i think balance is good around 2v2 and 3v3 also …since in Tournamens you don’t have so many 5v5 fights, since you have to split the group sometimes!

8v8 sucks … 5v5 Tourneys Rule, but you need to have a good team for this!

I think it would be nice to have more options … like in a Shooter where you can set some things… this would make a great experience!

Killing Thiefs: — Look out … its 1-2 sec stealth, you can “presume” where they will go, since you look where they are facing,… it will be like ~5 meters in front, you can even start to finish them when they are still in stealth, if they are near you!

Mesmers: Look for the “Guild” Tag, Clone does not have one …. lolz

My simple answer: no it doesn’t.

My longer answer: small scale PvP, aka “arena”, breeds “optimal team setups”, leaving some trait specs and even classes out of the activity. Why? Simple… a game with 8 different classes and even more different trait specializations is NOT meant to be played 2vs2 or 3vs3. The arenas negatively affected WoW by leading to class equalization and down dumbing in order to try to make them all viable for that activity.
So a big “NO” to arenas here – they will affect the whole game negatively.

You sir, have a good point here, BUT I always have to say the Game is also not balanced around 8v8 Games!

It reaches the best balance in 5v5! It’s made around Tournament Modes, and a player can feel this, if you play 8v8 or 5v5 it’s a HUGE difference!

For example in 8v8 it’s MUCH easier to play a ZomgDPS Build which may be considered OP

So if you have 3v3 or 2v2’s with the same rewards as in 8v8 it does not matter MORE than Tournaments, then it’s just a matter of players choice, WHAT they will play, and people still can play the 8v8 Builds … in 8v8!

No, please, Arenanet. No arenas. Even Blizzard admitted (but then tried to backtrack on) the fact that introducing them in WoW was a mistake. It creates all kinds of balance problems. Don’t want it, don’t need it.

OMG! Could you people please stop bragging about this, with ONLY the Argument “Oh but even Blizzard admitted it was bad!” ….

What kind of Argument is this? Blizzard are a bunch of fools! They implemented a great Idea just into a wrong System!!!

With NO Gear Grind, NO “Gear2Win”, NO Stupid ArenaTeams, NO Healers, NO “ZOMG” Burst (if you can play), it is a good thing!

In WoW it was THE PvP Endgame… It does not have to be here ,… it can just be as valuable as doing 8v8s …. just for other types of players!

Me for one I love Tournaments, and I hate 8v8 … just sucks sometimes to fight 2v4 or so .. I would like to have competitve 2v2 or 3v3 … If it’s not necessary (like it was in WoW — Best gear you got from Arenas) …. ANYONE who doesn’t like it, SHALL not play it,… Whats the Problem?

Hi,

I <3 the Norn Keg Brawl, I played it at low lvl in Hoelbrak, but I keep forgeting about it, cause I really don’t have time to hang around in Hoelbrak all the time!

I – and I guess many other PvP-Players – spend a lot of their time in the PvP Area, so I think, since Keg Brawl is a PvP Game where you get PvP Boni, you could implement it in the PvP Area, … I think it would get a bigger popularity, which it deserves, since it’s a great thing!

Also – I heared – there should be 3 Minigames, but I only found KegBrawl, so I think it would be nice to also have tham in one place !

if you play well together as a team you can win in tournament matches … just a matter of tactics and teamplay….

on the PuG games, whatever, they are just PuG games, but it would be nice to play up to 2/3 guildies in a team without being shuffled into different teams!

Maybe 2 kinds of servers, one PuG one with 2-3 Premades?

do NOT remove downed state …. it’s a tactical point of surviving and teamplay!

You need to rezz people … they need to rezz you, thats the point! That is WAY MORE important than hitting on an enemy! It’s a tactical decision how to use your knockdowns, and stuff … wether to use shields …

Maybe a decent rework would be nice, but yeah mostly a good thing!

I am also against switching teams and fighting against my Guildmate, if I don’t want to… ok one point 8v8zergfest is also “not how it’s meant to be” …

Every class has a ranged attack.

How would you suggest AN rectify the ranged vs melee problem?

Not every Class performs best (for PvP) in Range! The Options are restricted for some classes … ranged classes with control would out CC the melee ones without so many “anti” ccs … and when you are on the “Mage” you don’t do enough dmg to kill him, and you will die sooner or later…

Your Idea is the same as Resilence in WoW .. which is fail in design, but was needed to balance between Raid DPS and PvP DPS …

If everyone went into arena and were all level 80’s… no difference between true 80’s and level ups… had the exact same gear… had the exact same build… had the exact same class… then I would vote for it.

Mesmer X versus Mesmer X… you have the same traits, gear, talents… et al… the only difference between you is how well you know how to play your class. No Guardian versus Mesmer… We aren’t testing class versus class… we are testing player versus player.

Odds are, no one would want this, because in the end, they want to be in a situation where they have the advantage… that is what arena is all about… kitten stroking at it’s worst.

You want WoW arena, the door is over there…. clearly it’s not all that if you’re looking for it in another game, now is it?

I cannot understand where the problem lies? You need to build your class in an “most optimal way” to succeed in PvP … you need to have a strategy….

If your build is bad, that’s part of the game … you deserve to die if a well build char is fighting against you!

As said, the WORST Problems of WoW Arena were Healers, thus Heal-Debuff (MS), also Gear > Skill, and also the Keyboard-Lessons you needed to take to use all you stuff properly….

other Problems were LOS being kitteny, also the proportion of CC to NO CC … like Rouge 10000000 Stuns, Warr 1 Stun … for example …

also in WoW you had 1 Stunbreaker every 2 min, here you have plenty of …. so no Trololo PermaStun > Burst > Dead!

The Plattform is WAAAAY better made for Arena than WoW … WoW Arena didn’t work because of WOW not because of ARENA!

GW2 Arena could be quite the stuff! —- And, you don’t even need to change rewards … Free Tournaments and 8v8 are also the same in rewards … so why not!?!?!?!

The sad part is that the PvP in this game is lacking in it’s current state.

And this is why exactly?!

PvP is quite balanced, if you fail, it’s YOUR FAULT (@all)

  • Bad Build
  • Bad Timing
  • Bad Overall Look
  • Bad Decisions

Arena (aside from WoW Style with Gear2Win) is a quite amusing and challanging! I played WoW Arena, at first I was a scrub, afterwards I could make use of the “tricks” I learned in PvE and other stuff….
Arena … simply a Deathmatch against 2 other enemies is just Amazing, better than Zergfest 4v1 like in normal 8v8 …
2v2 or 3v3 — both would work here well,… since you don’t have dedicated healers and Uberpwner Gear it’s going to work very well!

So, yeah I'll say it. Any working DPS meter mods out?

DPS meter is not bad, it’s a good tool for optimizing one’s spec, one’s playstyle, the group as a whole …. but the community starts to worship it like it was the holy book…. therefore I’m against it … at least in GW2, where there is (almost) no need for this
