I don’t know how else to describe it. I checked my ping, it was somewhere between 50 to 70 on average, and the current ping was 70.

I clicked my skills and had I had around 3 queued up to execute, but none of them execute only until after around two or three seconds.

Is this a bug, or feature?

Hi,

There seems to be an influx of a terrible amount of everything for all classes, to the point where the elementalist became a tank and the warrior became some sort of weird necromancer or burn guard. I think now the necromancer reaper spec let it become a knight? No, I think it was maybe the guardian because it heals people. Wait, doesn’t that job belong to the elementalist or revenant? I thought the elementalist was the backline. Did the revenant take my job?

What is going on? Then we have to deal with a buttload of CC and condi, and there simply isn’t enough stun breaks. Good luck with condi, because that kitten skips armor.

to clarify, I have no issue with balance, just the fact that symbolically you are fudging all classes into a melting pot of potato bland salad so that in 2 more years every class will wield every weapon(except war) and have all the same weapon skills an all the same traits and all the same faces, and all the same places, and all the same spaces, and all the same races, and all the same kids, and nobody knows who the father is.

You got killed CC and conditions all the time without be able to fight or improve, and then you chose to come on the forum to cry and ask to nerf what you’re unable to kill.

Just a L2P issue, nothing more.
Make more practice and have fun.

I really love the “nerf condi” and “nerf CC” threads <3

I don’t see the reason why I’d want to improve in this game.

I love those people who put “L2P” to complete their non-existent argument <3

If you don’t want to improve enough to be able to play in the current state of the game, why should you ask to nerf everything?

I told you to learn and make practice, not to play for two years every day for 8 hours.
At the start is hard in every game to learn the game mechanic and how to fight the different enemies you can face.

In 2 or 3 weeks you can learn more or less everything about this game, every build and how to fight them. You can learn how to move, rotate, disengage, how to play your class, your build and how to face your different opponents.
Everyone at the start feel weak and like everything is gonna kill him in two seconds, but after a little practice you’ll learn everything you need to play and have fun.

There’s different posts in the forum that can help you to know the Rotation, the Maps Mechanic and you can find different good builds for every class.

Do you like a class but don’t know how to fight another one? Or you feel weak against CC or Conditions? Ask on the class forum for help, comeone will tell you what to do.

That game is All about Knowledge. Know your enemy and you’ll be able to fight him (unless for some rock-paper-scissor builds).

About the “Powercreep”, we all wanted a faster game where we’re able to kill someone in lesser than 5 minutes. Also kill someone was not so much of advantage because time to be near to kill another enemy the first dead was already there ready to fight…
I like this meta. Is fast, funny, you can make focus and play with your teammates to kill someone fast enough to grant you an advantage.

There’s CC and Conditions and them both can compete to kill you.
Some builds focus on condition damage to kill you and they totally can do that. You have to face two different source of damage and be ready to fight them both in a teamfight. But there’s also classes and builds that grant you a way to kill them easy (play with/near an ele and you will never fear a condition build anymore).
About the CC, there’s builds that focus to CC the enemy all the time while your allies kill him easy. It’s a choice. Also there’s classes with a lot of CC and others with few CC.
Keep with you a Stability source or two and you’ll be ok.

You have only to play, try and improve. If you don’t want to do that there’s no reason to come here and ask to nerf everything only because you don’t want to learn few basic rules.

Thank you for elaborating. I dislike the comments that simply say “L2P”.

I should also state the left out fact that I am talking about group fights.

I keep stability with me, and since I play warrior I have an abundant source of it. But, when there are simply too much things going on in the center, I can’t apply my “knowledge” when there’s so many things going on. I know, I get out of the center and then come back in again. But surprise: there’s a second wave of massive cc and cd. It’s a never ending cycle. That’s why I don’t want every class to have AoE ccs, stacks on stacks of condition in < 5 seconds and then another wave <5. Having classes that play like their intended game mode is great, like thief for example.

Silv is right.

i would say though the best way to learn is to hop into a private arena with a few good players & fight each other, & give feedback. 1v1s are incredibly important in mechanical play, & are the best practice for learning how to deal with CC & condi.

back when i used to coach people on pvp in my old guild this is the method we used. i’ve turned free kills into average players, & seen massive improvements. its how i learnt to deal with clone death mesmer back when that existed. took almost a week of 1v1s with my pal, but i went from thinking it was OP & impossible to fight to having a fair chance against him (he is an incredibly good mesmer, so fair chance is all i can hope for lol).

my favourite method is to get the the person who’s learning to fight good players on builds/classes they have an issue fighting while you spectate them. this allows you to see all of the moves both players make & you can give really effective feedback after each 1v1.

honestly i would recommend anyone who wants to get good to fight some more experienced players to 1v1 with a chat about it on discord. it’s really the best way to improve mechanical skill, which i would argue should be focused on before you start really worrying about rotation theory.

if you can’t manage that quite yet, i would recommend watching these: https://youtu.be/pEV96odAFcg
Jebro, & Nick both give excellent commentary on these 1v1s. there are a lot of interesting matchups & plays displayed. there’s a lot to learn.

=====

but yeah, ultimately it’s up to you if you want to learn this game. it’s very understandable considering its current health if you don’t want to. but dude, your balance suggestions are coming from a very inexperienced perspective. they are not going to get a lot of respect.

personally i’ve chosen to play the occasional game of Gunflame, or Xzibit Guardian & go with BDO as my main game. i have a lot more fun there, & the devs rock (imo lol ofc its imo). i’m very excited to hunt gaint sea monsters from the deck of a flying airship while looking deeply swaggy.

imo gw2 is not worth getting into as a new player currently. pvp is falling apart, & i doubt PoF will cause any meaningful change.

I like that they’ve buffed core skills. Now, I can play power warrior without having to keep berserker as a necessary part. I play warrior mainly, and I do dodge and pay attention to what is going on. But, when there’s a flurry of god knows what in the center, I get cc’d to smitherines. If this game was a 1 vs 1 heavy pvp style, then no. There aren’t that many ccs and cd isn’t too much of a problem.

I wanted to invest time in this game, but now I don’t find that I like: 1. The community, and 2. The “your class can be anything you want

I like build diversity, but I don’t like it when they take out what it means to be your chosen class. Whatever Anet chose the class to be like.

Which one do you prefer?

I prefer stronghold because it’s not so much a clusterkitten than its counterpart.

People who continuously complain about the game mode, simply don’t understand the strategies involved. It’s why players Zerg in two’s or threes because they literally don’t know how or when to rotate to other points.

Lol that is a joke. You can have 3 great players but with just 2 random pugs or even 1 bad pug tossed on your team and it’s over. Conq can’t be competitive by it’s game play style. There is no way to make it competitive even if you make a rules list for rotation, that’s just your opinion.

5 Years in and still each game requires a teef to do running. Once you get to where a single class is required for a map. By means of nothing else but running around with bow #5. That is not skill no matter how hard you try to say it is, and being a huge part of it takes away the competitive nature of the game where you fight not run.

It’s never been a rotation issue it has been a map style issue. With the Correct TDM maps like gw1. pvp wouldn’t be this sad state that it’s in.

Oh man do I miss GW1’s random arena. The classes felt like their intended class.

I prefer stronghold because it’s not so much a clusterkitten than its counterpart.

Fight as a Zerg and the best Zerg will win almost everytime. It’s why the first TDM Courtyard wasn’t as popular even though I loved it. Except with Conquest, zerging only gets you so far.

People who continuously complain about the game mode, simply don’t understand the strategies involved. It’s why players Zerg in two’s or threes because they literally don’t know how or when to rotate to other points.

If you want something strategic and competitive, stick with Unranked Conquest and manage your class in 1v1 dueling servers until you’re good enough for Ranked. If you want something new with little to no progressive goals, go Stronghold.

Add seasonal 2v2 queues Anet!

What are these strategies? Any link to read them?

I wouldn’t call Stronghold a game mode with “little to no progressive goals”, but just a different game mode that prioritizes its own type of tactics. Defense for example: I can kill their npcs, ambush other players attacking, defend the stockpiles in the middle courtyard, steal mist essence or support allies taking it, or heal the lord.

I like it because it’s not all about who has the best meta build for this or that season, but it focuses on what you can do in the game. It doesn’t feel like a linear game mode like conquest; there’s more ways to help the team rather than having the best build.

I can’t do anything but speculate because find any lore on the elite specializations. Marjory seemed to be the first Reaper, but thankfully it hasn’t been confirmed. Braham recently looks like the first Dragonhunter, but still it hasn’t been confirmed. If all of the sudden Rytlock barges in out of literally nowhere with a new profession and being the first of its kind, it would lead me to believe that Anet is going to go down this unfortunate path.

How do you feel about the state of sPvP?

in PvP

MiGFiD.1760

I think what the PvP community wants often overwhelms the PvP devs causing them to spend less and less time actively engaging PvP topics with a positive mental attitude. The forums itself gets cluttered with many threads discussing the same things over and over and no one really feels like chiming into topics that can better experiences (even if they don’t completely agree with it). Majority of the devs and players have personal, selfish, agendas with PvP and usually do not want to support any efforts to make PvP more welcoming.

Sure, you can entice PvE players to get their gear in PvP…but how does that help them stay? What kittenes them off when they are in PvP? What can be done to help PvP situations that don’t make sense to them?

I don’t entirely miss the days without Elite Specs but it seems like no one wants to bother trying to bridge the gap between Core and Elite in anyway possible. Everything requires work and apparently it’s out of everyone’s pay grade.

I agree with your first paragraph about the amount of confusion and perhaps lack of vision or direction the game mode has. Trying to bring balance with the core skills I think by now is impossible. How else would you sell your expansion to the people who play PvP right? Playing without the expansions is shooting yourself in both feet.

I’ve read your post, and here’s what I think of it:

As much as I want to play without elite specializations, dividing the player base would cause game timers to increase. I think instead of dividing core and specializations, there should be more skills that can be used to keep up with what HoT brought in. If there were a larger player base for PvP, then I would support the division between the two.

I would sit down and write more about what I think can be done to change, but as you said, there’s too many people wanting too many different things from PvP. Everyone’s talking, but no one is heard.

I guess Guild Wars 2 really is a PvE game, heart & soul.

Spears as Land Based Weapon?

in Living World

Posted by: MiGFiD.1760

MiGFiD.1760

The problem with adding new weapon types is that it’ll forever increase the workload. Future black lion sets for example would need to include spears.

The trick with elite specializations is that they can actually give you the same weapons over and over. They couldn’t do that forever however without amassing complaints.

What an NPC uses doesn’t mean anything. The watchknights have been using halberds for several years now. Spears were however added to GW1 with Elona, which has been hinted to be the target of the next expansion. If that turns out to be the case, it’s now or never.

I hope that Elona will bring back the Sunspears and expand on Palawa Joko… Out of the trilogy, I enjoyed Nightfall’s story more. I just hope if they do bring spears in to the game, it’s not just a Paragon’s javelin.

If they didn’t increase the workload, we’d just end up with the same thing over and over again. That would get boring really fast. I think HoT was just a way to increase weapon diversity by recycling weapons, and adding in new skills. I don’t think there’s any way but to add more weapons in the game like the great axe, polearms, etc…)

But PVP on the other hand… not sure how they’re gonna dodge that bullet.

Using Spears on Land

I’ll throw my 5 cent of a brainstorm in this idea:
Warrior Elite Specialization: Knight
Spearskills
Skill 1 – Impale: Standard attack deals damage and cause vulnerability.
Skill 2 – Lancing strike: Deals massive damage and cause vulnerability.
Skill 3 – Phalanx volley: Attack 5 times and gain 2 seconds of Might for each attack.
Skill 4 – Defender: Gain protection and retaliation for 3 seconds.
Skill 5 – Present Spear: Channel for 5 seconds, Gain 1 stack of stability for 5 seconds, block one attack. If an attack was blocked, attacker takes damage.
Vows: The warrior gain vow skills. Each vow has a passive effect and cannot be activated. (all vows have Range 900 and affect Up to 5 targets, including the knight himself)

  • Healing Vow of Valour: The Knight regain X HP every 15-X second. X= the amount of allies within the vows range.
  • Vow of Purity: The knight loose X condition every 15-X second. X = The amount of allies within the vows range.
  • Vow of Stability: Every 13 – X seconds, The knight gain 2 stacks of stability for 5 seconds. X = the amount of allies within range.
  • Vow of Death: If the knight is downed, enemies within range takes X damage for every ally within range.
  • Vow of Life: The knight revive Downed allies 5% faster for each ally within range. If the kngiht is not in combat, Dead allies are revived 50% faster, for each ally, that is not in combat, within range.
  • Elite Vow of Order: Elite The knight gain 10 toughness, 10 vitality and 10 Concentration, for each ally within range.
Class mechanic: Vow of Knightood When the Knights adrenaline is full, the knights healing power is increased by 100 for each ally in range.

Guardian Elite Specialization: Paragon
Spearskills
Skill 1 – Barbed spear: Standard attack that cause 1 stack of bleeding for 2 seconds.
Skill 2 – Blazing spear: Attack that cause 3 stacks of burning for 2 seconds.
Skill 3 – Symbol of Flames: A symbol that cause burning to enemies, puls 5 times over 5 seconds.
I do not agree that the spear should be limited to a shield combo only, since this was never the case in GW1.
Chants: Chants are cast instantly and can be cast simultaneously with other skills. They affect up to 5 allies within range. The allies gain a status effect which, when a trigger occur, does Something.

  • Healing Chant of Restoration: For 3 seconds, the next time an ally would take damage, he gain 1 second of a status that convert damage all incoming damage into health.
  • Chant of Fire: For 3 seconds, the next time an ally attacks, the attack cause 5 stacks of burning for 2 seconds.
  • Chant of Fury: For 3 seconds, the next time an ally attacks, the attack grant them 5 seconds of furry.
  • Chant of Power: For 3 seconds, allies gain might with every attack for the next 5 attacks.
  • Chant of Speed: For 3 seconds, if allies are in combat they gain 5 seconds of super speed and Vigor.
  • Elite Chant of Nullification: For 3 seconds, if an ally is affected by a condition, it gain 5 seconds of resistance and stability.
*Class mechanic: The Paragon gain regeneration for 1 second, every time an ally is affected by a chant or shout.

kitten , that’s pretty solid

It would be really cool if there were a new profession that utilized spears outside of water combat. Not like GW1’s paragon where you throw javelins, but an actual usage for it. Some ideas could be like:

1. Another elite spec for the warrior that allows one to use spears
1.1 This elite spec would be used more for power rather than condition damage
1.2 Focuses on defending
1.3 “Weak” in non team settings
1.4 close range, but since it’s a spear you can have a bit more distance.
1.5 two handed

2. Another elite spec for guardian, where they use it like a javelin. Much akin to GW1’s paragon.
2.1 focuses more on condition damage
2.2 Spear is mid range projectile, almost like a short bow.
2.3 one handed, can wield only a shield.
2.4 no traps.
2.5 definitely no traps.

Were you guys trying to define the classes based off of the elite specs? Throwing the baby out with the bathwater? Matchmaking is OKAY I guess. You will win like 10 games in a row then lose the same amount or if not more soon after.

Will you change your design again or will you keep giving nukes to every class?

Revenants

MiGFiD.1760

Well Rytlock becoming a Revenant basically caused a “wave” across the Mists. Inside the Mists, all of what we can assume is the source of Space/Time is housed there (since we can see battles that already happened, and things that may happen). So him opening the ‘box’ (or whatever it was) that caused him to gain his powers basically hit across the entire Mists, giving more and more the power of Revenants. He was the first in all of existence to gain the power, and it spread to the rest of existence.

Ah, so it’s like changing the past while in the future?

Revenants

MiGFiD.1760

I’m really not sure how this class fits in with the lore. I’m not even sure we should be the “commander” or anything while being a Revenant. If I remember correctly, Rytlock was the first. The first appearance of the Revenant took place after the events of the fall of Zhaitan, meaning that there is no way that we could become a Revenant before becoming the “commander”.

I can kind of see this class being a merge between Guild Wars Faction’s classes: ritualist and assassin. I think that the revenant should have been a specialization of whatever you call a mix of ritualist and assassin, instead of the Herald.

Is there a reason why Anet implemented this?

I’ve gotta say, I don’t think GW2’s PvP is good compared to the competition. It does feel very messy. I play SMITE (a PvP focused game) and in my honest opinion, that game is a much better PvP game than GW2.

It’s very disappointing because I used to play GW1 back in the day and I loved the PvP in that. I do think it’s because Anet are trying to do to many things. They’re kinda all over the place, being a jack of all trades instead of being a master of one.

I’m a GW1 player too. I used to roll dervish and warrior in PvP and I remember it as being fairly decent. The classes seemed a lot more defined back then.

Anyone else feel like most of the effort went into things like WvW and PvE? I’ve been reading on forums from 2012 to now. People have since then been complaining about design problems, balance issues, matchmaking issues, the works. I see some things got better, but not much.

I really want to like PvP, I even bought HoT (I played since 2014 2015ish) to have a fair advantage.

I’m having the same problem just for sPvP. Any other game mode is fine. Is there a fix for this issue?

I know uploading videos causes ping increases but that’s expected. Even when I’m not uploading it can randomly spike to ludicrous amounts.

I’ll exit and run an ipconfig /FlushDNS in elevated command prompt but that’s usually just very temporary.

Hmm, for some reason the new build fixed it. Thanks for the input though

I think that the leaving penalties should be greater to deter rage quitters. Suffer with us.
