Still, I think many people undervalue necros. If they are left unchecked they can completely destroy a team from range with wells if you coordinate CCs with your team. Sometimes they even become my prime target to disrupt over thieves when fighting over mid on all three maps. And no I am not just talking out of my kitten thank you very much.
Reveal needs to be extended, being able to stealth every 3 seconds to remove conditions and heal is just insane, not to mention dropping target every 3 seconds (talking p/d build) players that rock this Build and think they are leet players make me laugh. No one can target you, and you out heal any kitten conditions on you.
I don’t care about thieves burst, or mobility, but re-stealthing every 3 seconds has to go, it’s just so far away from balanced its kind of funny.
It isn’t that hard to stop them from using C&D, play the build for a little bit and you will understand how these thieves can be easily countered.

This is exactly what I said you would try to do, and no I do not play necro very often, but I do know someone who HAS played 2k+ Necro games since the start of the beta. I talk with him everyday about his feelings on the game and he loves doing his power build with wells that also has incredible sustain, as far as I know he thinks necros might be a little weak, but they are very competitive and NOT UP.
I would ask him to come post here, but he is alseep right now and doesn’t really follow the forums at all.

The best bunker guardian with awesome condition removal will crumble before me. I get a 4 second daze from my steal and switch to my pistol’s vs bunkers and burn them down by mixing blind, bleed, and high unload spike dmg while timing my daze with the stolen over the top insane daze for 4 seconds.
My question to you is how little common sense can you have to not realize when your playing something set to monkey easy mode in pvp?
Have you ever won a tournament in another game for real life cash?
Have you ever been ranked by game pro as one of the best pvpers in a game?
Have you come in .01% in the ranking system of any pvp game with over 10 million players?
Because if you have you would never embaress yourself by defending a class this overpowered.

Last time I checked noob bunkers don’t have Paragon, Magus, and Genius titles over thier head, but maybe you have a different definition of Noob than I do.
Ok lets see you kill one of these players in 10 seconds and I will believe you. You cannot expect people to believe your ridiculous claims otherwise.
Pistols are actually the best weapon in the game to collapse the defense of bunkers. Caltrops mixed with trait caltrops, plus sneak attack, vital shot and unload dmg with descent atk power and crit % and timed daze and blind= a win.
No bunker can remove conditions, survive spike dmg, and withstand well timed dazes and blinds at the same time.
Burst thieves usually kill themselves from ret, condition spec thieves have all the tools necessary to easily dispatch bunkers, sorry if you can’t figure out how to do it but it is very easy mode vs the best bunker build.
Not to mention the steal attacks you get as a thief are P-E-R-F-E-C-T-L-Y matched vs each bunker.
4 sec daze with Guardian COME ON!
Chill vs elementalist lol killing their mobility allowing you to avoid all there ground drops, churning earth etc while forcing them on the defensive with cond removal and spike dmg lol they cant handle both at the same time.
A smart Engineer actually has the best shot because your steal is the weakest vs them.
So you play P/P thief, from what I gather, which means unless you rely on your heal, or other utilities to stealth, sneak attack won’ t be used that often, which can provide quite decent pressure if you can CONTINUE to go into stealth and use it (not sure if you have another weaponset with P/D, though that setup is quite bad).
Caltrops on the other hand are not some godmode I win button. Eles can sit in them for the entire duration easily with all of their condition removal, guardians have a little more trouble but they can still remove the stacks several times with shouts or passively every 10 seconds. Engineer seems the most susceptible to caltops because of their low condition removal.
I’ d like to duel you on my ele, see if you could even touch my hp in 10 seconds.

Necro’s and ele’s were considered horribly UP 3 months yet people still played them and succeeded just as much as every other class…. Now ele’s are considered OP because of the whole D/D FOTM yet there were no major buffs to the proffesion. Don’t tell me it’s because “people learned to play the class” since many of us played them since betas.Sorry.

This is getting ridiculous. It seems like 9 times out of 10 I join a spvp match to find the players “dueling”. it’s getting to the point that I can’t play the game the way it was meant to be. Either give them a proper place to duel or do something to fix this. Maybe put in some sort of penalty for this. I really don’t know what can be done to fix this other than giving dueling its own proper place. But something has got to give on this, I’m utterly frustrated with pvp atm largely due to this.
Don’ t press Play Now, just manually pick a server that is at least 75% full, and look problem is solved!!
Necros can plague stomp, see this happen quite a bit in paid tournaments, some might think it wastes an elite, but people time warp all the time to get stomps so why not plague to achieve something similar? Also it slows rezzing by adding poison to the downed person, pretty neat trick for necros, only downside is the high cooldown.
If you have another proc sigil, such as one that procs on critical, this will conflict and only one will work at a time.
I disagree, games are way more boring without thieves or mesmers, what is point in playing if you never have to watch your back or man up for a tough fight?
For reference, I do have a thief and mesmer, but main ele with 1000+ games and 75% of my overall playtime.
Guardian if you want an easy time, Ele if you want to challenge yourself.
I actually run a power build because I find condition spam very boring. What I dont understand is dagger offhand I have tried it in power builds…. its not optimal, seems like a pick to look cool nothing more.
Warhorn or focus adds more imo. When im running a more glassy build I tend to warhorn offhand for lockdown burst combos, balanced I got with focus. I just dont see dagger offhands benefits in a power build vs the other two options.
Weakness is really good for standing toe to toe with other melees and the blind + condition removal is also invaluable.
Is there any way to craft more snowman and present finishers, like rank ones?
You can get them in free tournament chests from what I have seen. Drop rate is pretty bad though.
Well a thief can still get a full combo rotation off without chill doing anything. It has little affect on a decent thief as they will stealth and move away if the first combo does not kill a target anyway.
It has little affect on a burst glass thief but does slow down a balanced or condition based thief.
Quite a large effect I would say, barely being able to move will significantly reduce their dps (heartseeker can be strafed away from), and it is much easier to kill them when they are busy being sitting ducks.

Destroy the enemy towers, get to their “crystal of power” destroy it and win.

I dont understand why they dont just post it? Make a resumé of it, link the video, or audio and post it with a name like “Upcoming changes for SPvP”?
Imagine the rage if they posted they were thinking about buffing engis with this one change, and then they couldn’ t add it to the next patch. Making promises will just make the community more disconnected.
As it is now, it feels like they make a few class balances and maybe adding or changing a little on the current game mode. This make players feel like that Arenanet are happy with this one game mode, which a big part of the SPvP players dislike. And if you stay long enough, the game will slightly get better balanced every patch. Which means if you are pretty unhappy with the current state, you will either drop SPvP or completely drop the game if you wanted the game for its SPvP. Its feels a little like standby, its there but yet nothing big is happening. And with so many complains something big has to happend. Im not saying to get rid of this game mode, but maybe add another one?
They have already stated their list of priorities for the upcoming patches next year, a few things include matchmaking, a ladder system, and custom arenas.

Exactly, it will not affect how most thieves function right now. You still don’t understand how this combo works but that’s fine.
You are saying that leaving stealth should cancel out the backstab animation, which is quite ludicrous in my opinion. As long as the thief starts the cast in stealth, the ability should still go off, it is not like backstab can be spammed and as long as you are moving around and not standing still like an idiot you can avoid the next burst (of course you need a stun breaker if they use basilisk venom but that is fair).

You guys are seriously asking for this while they are all probably not working and with their families for the holidays? You could have more patience than this.
You do not need a macro to press 1 > F1…… People have been doing this for ages with C&D into Backstab. The only problem I see is the trait which gives Steal so much damage. That should have been nerfed, not C&D.
It does work vertically the same as other blinks, it just requires more finese to pull off than most.
Guardian is the best for 2v1, my team has a guardian with so many blocks, and 30 points in the tree where the 25 point trait gives you might when you block, so when noobs blindly attack him through blocks he gets free 10-25 stacks of might while takinkittenage, whips out the Greatsword and wrecks. He is impossible to kill 1v1 unless you go shatter mesmer to rip all his boons, and even then it is a challenge.
Wait no staff are you kidding me? That is the best weapon for mesmer in my opinion, in sPvP of course.

Im just curious how many people would be interested in a hard core game-type , essentially the same as we have now but with no down state, and remove the calls like trebuchet incoming.
Yes, eliminate the UI too, and the score indicator at the top, then make base hp 5000. Super ultra hardcore mode with no casuals allowed is definetly what this game needs.
For leveling I love using both, then speccing for mind wrack damage, you get plenty of AOE and if you play it right the mobs will never be able to touch you, and if they get close you can always blink away, knock them all back, or tank with chaos field and chaos armour.
The problem is all these necros instantly saying builds like this are not viable instead of learning to use them. This is how we fall into the necros are only condi turret spammers with no other options.
My friend does a D/D power build with necro sometimes, he always rages when thieves and warriors tunnel vision him though, how do you get away or survive without plague or flesh golem CC?
Really? Randomly change the selected target when you make a clone? I play mesmer in PvP and admit this would be broken, you can already stealth to drop target with decoy, and the downstate is fine too, it can be countered, but you can dodge the first stomp and delay them even if they use stability.
I didn’t take any chests from PvE and couldn’t get the PvP one either, it said I already had it but it is no where to be found in my inventory.
How does one tell the difference between a highly skilled thief and a button masher?
If you need to ask this question you might not be much better than the latter.
I remember reading here that skirmisher was bugged on that map so it will never be rewarded properly.

There are too many doom and gloom posts on here and they outweigh any positive posts quite heavily. Yes I am bitter but what is wrong with wanting a more constructive place to theorycraft or discuss the game rather than complain about the new thing that needs nerfing.
The Hide in Shadows is a better heal for the P/D thief. What if you fight a competent opponent who knows how to avoid your C/Ds? Trust me I have played P/D plenty in sPvP so when I see enemy thieves doing P/D builds on my thief or an alt, it is quite easy to counter and when you do that they have no real source of damage. HiS gives you a reliable way to get off sneak attacks when low on ini as well.

I fail to see how sPvP is dying, I can log on every day, see loads of full servers in the sPvP browser, get instant queues in free tourneys, (plenty of new players there I might add) under 10 minute queues if I want to do a paid tourney, and see many new players coming over from PvE in the mists to ask noobie questions every day.
I appreciate the vocal forum members we have advocating changes as soon as possible, and I won’ t disagree with them as I too would like to see many new features implemented, but I’ m going to say I would prefer a SOLID cornerstone of a game which gradually builds into the masterpiece which we can all say we were a part of since the start.
Sure there are plenty of problems now, (glaring ones which many of you know and I won’ t reiterate) but I would rather Arena Net take their time to make sure everything is polished and works well instead of throwing together a bunch of crap which ends up going horribly. Yes there are bugs and new bugs with every patch, but no one could name a game out there without bugs (and the game breaking ones are fixed in a few days).
All I know is this game is not going to disappear so as long as there are people like me who care about it and can bear through the baby phases as it develops, it will become great.

Stun breakers do work on the control abilities you mentioned at the start of the thread, you just have to wait until you hit the ground until you are able to use them.

You should not have to wait any amount of time before hitting a stunbreaker. Would it be fair if you have to wait Every time a warrior Frenzy->HB’d you? Or a thief BV->CnD->Steal->BS’d you?
No, It wouldnt. So why is it fair for KD/KB/Pull/Launch?
A thief can’t knock you in the air like a guardian can though, and a warrior can’t do it if he is planning to HB you.

Every class has access to Stability in some way. Sure some classes need to sacrifice more to access it, but that is why every class is so different.
Stability, Dodge roll, Blind, Traits which reflect the CC ( I know at least a few classes have this), Use stun breaker when you hit the ground, CC the enemy first, there are plenty of ways to counter it, it’s definetly not OP.
I’m talking about the 1-second insta-kills before I even realize there is anyone around me. And the ability to solo a Lord + 4 guards via abusing aggro mechanics. And the ability to abuse the culling issue.
The only thieves I can respect and enjoy playing with are ones who aren’t built around stealth most of the time. But since I can’t divine which players these are, I’ll be fine with not playing with any thieves.
They aren’t 1 second insta kills and even if they are, If you have a reaction time slower than one second (we can round it to 600ms assuming you have high ping of about 200ms multiplied by 2 to account for sending the data and receiving it).
Stun breakers are mandatory in this game, not just against thief, if you don’t take at least one and know when to use it and when to save it, you will die to burst in this game.
As far as the lord goes, there is a notification when your base is under attack, so it is quite simple to send someone to counter the thief from killing the lord before they even start attacking him, ignoring it is not the right decision.

Everybody seems to be so excited about the change to the 30 point might trait in fire, the thing is you can already maintain 25 stacks of might as Scepter Dagger after two rotations, while using the sigil of Superior Battle, I do it all the time, I don’t know how it would work out since I do it with the extra blast finisher from Evasive Arcana in earth, but I might do some testing to see how many ways there are to maintain 25 stacks of might.
The funny thing is you don’t need to farm unless you want the rank, in which case, enjoy your cheese greater helm, other of use will just play to have fun.
Agree with this here, gave up the farming part for the sake of farming around level 40, much easier to play to have fun and not worry about the levels. The cosmetic gear doesn’t really matter either, and if you really want the most exclusive, you have to do paids, but there is no rank requirement for those either, and you can get paid tokens even if you lose the first round.
