Well.. to complete the daily as a class win, you have to actually win
This doen’t make sense at all.

I ussualy just switch class when we have high lead and probably a lot of other players do the same. So that daily is quite flawed.

I agree in my opinion gaps should also be bigger. For us who mainly play for fun it is not enjoyable getting dragged in a lot higher ranked matches.

I am playing guild wars for years now. And the best thing about guild wars was that you could quit for a few months and it did not impact your account a lot. And now when I had this break in gw2 I noticed yesterday by chance “use all your glory, materials etc. or it will get wasted”. Because of bad design thousands of mats will get wasted anyway but what if I would miss that message like many will I pressume. All the stuff players got in months of playing will be lost because they went on a break … like they did many times before …

Relevance to Guild wars 2?

While it is nice you played guild wars 1, the truth is this is not guild wars 1 and it will never be guild wars 1 for good or mostly bad.

GW1 is reason most people bought GW2 in first place, so I am not sure why you do not see any relevance, considering GW1 and GW2 are LINKED ingame. GW1 also has its playerbase even after almost 10 years so it is quite obvious they did something right. GW1 pvp player base is probably bigger at this moment than the one of GW2.

Also the slogan of Anet is play as you like …

Most of the solo queue players seem to be entering team queue alone now because it’s much more profitable. Discrimination against solo queue is starting to make it obsolete.

I doubt this will keep up when people start to realize that they have a much lower chance of winning against a team of coordinated players. I mean, there are tremendous advantages to picking the class/builds of your team composition, being able to communicate over TS/Mumble/Vent, as well as playing with people that you have played with before.

While this is true you rarely encounter teams. And sometimes they are just a bunch of friends so they are basicaly random.

And as I said a few days before when you go random in soloQ everyone is cranky because of ranks which is not the case in teamQ so I am also one of those who rather join solo teamQ than soloQ.

Is there any sportsmanship in PvP at all?

I have noticed the worst players trash talk most. And for some reason their sentences always start with “OMG”

I explain this for myself like this: if they blame someone else for the loss of the team, then nobody will notice they’re bad players. So they just pick up a victim, usually a necro or thief and start to harass them. However, what makes me more mad is the silent approval of the others. If someone start to harass a teammate please tell him to kitten. Don’t be silent and grateful he hasn’t picked you.

I have to agree with you. But the reason noone says anything is because most of us actually prefer playing the game than whining on chat so I just report them if they bashing someone too much.

Besides they have much more experience in being idiots so they are OP and you will lose when trying to communicate with them.

Try team arenas instead of solo. I find games much more casual in there. Also chat is normal mostly normal talk and rewards are better.

In soloQ people care about their ranking and there is a lot of rage for that. In Team pvp people who care about rating have their teams so you will be teamed with people who do not really care about theirs.

I agree with you on Anet making this competition. They should not implement such a leaderboard in the first place. New players can not compete and old ones have to grind every living thing and daily.

People complaining here should learn one thing games are meant to be plaid for fun. So unless you are making money with this leaderboard chasing it is your fault you are wasting your time\life doing something you do not like.

Most players who play for fun like having as many options for dailies as possible because they do not want to slay 50 crabs in the fractals just to stay on some leaderboard but they would rather do the daily by playing as they want to.

Limiting points gained ? Some people play on weekends or during holidays they will not get many points during other period but will do many more dailies during this time.

You made a competition yourself with these leaderboards which are only representation of how many spare time you have to waste.

Skyfarm, bday bug, hot join neting more glory than spvp, getting more points for playing game wrong (8 people caping a point), dps classes getting more glory than bunkers.

That is what you get when you release a game during development and fix it now and then.

1 Day to fix a bug which gives players 10 000% bigger gain ? It should be fixed in 5 mins with rollback. If you plaid for 1 hour that day you got as much as playing for 100 hours.

And even now they say thing will take months to change. Face it all of us who did PvP since beta without exploiting will probably get nothing for it.

PvE and PvP should not be split in the first place that is why I like the changes.

1. It is not true you can see who is good player by their armor. That worked in the first month after release or so. So even if some PvE player comes with awesome armor in pvp noone will think he is pro unless he will have “champion *” title or known pvp name.

The statement that this will destroy the pvp community is also wrong. In GW1 top PvP and PvE players had same armors and weapons and its PvP community is far better than that of GW2.

2. This will probably bring more PvE players to pvp which will result in shorter Q times.

3. Removal/replacing of ranks is a good thing. They go up very slow and the whole system was destroyed by exploits. They are not even by far representation of skill.

4. The fact that this might take months is bad because this should be already done at release of the game.

Anet Developer should says if it is banable or not instead of leaving people wondering about it.

I would guess they do not say anything simply because they do not like it but will not do anything about it and are preventing many more from doing it out of fear for ban.

But the real problem is bad desing and speed of fixes which allowed people getting so many points in hot join in the first place.

Because of rerolls and small player base it would be hard yes.

I think the biggest problem PvP has at the moment is that one game takes you about 20 mins and if you on top of that lose of course it is annoying.

In gw1 a bad match took you about 2 mins and you started a new one.

sPvP would need a miracle yes but I would not hold my breath for it. The last great pvp balance patch did not do much.

So unless Anet realized pvp will slowly die without a lot of attention then this patch will be nothing special.

This is BS. The reason the people at the top have lower win ‘s is because they aren’t actually the very best players in solo q. ATM the leaderboards are young and so there are bad players there who were lucky enough to get good teams over the 4-5 games they played. Sample size will gradually lower these people to their appropriate rating which can usually be seen by their win %. Having a win % of around 70 without syncing is more or less possible for the very best players running the very best builds. An elite warrior or spirit ranger could easily do this, as those classes are so versatile.

What you fail to realise is that when player A with 70% and player B 70% inevitably compete they will drop each others ratio until it approaches 50% the more games they play with each other.
Ratios like 70% and higher simply meant that the “top” players of old leaderboard DID NOT compete with each other

This is too simplistic.

I just find it funny how people who perform with high win s get called noobs on the forums. We are all so bad and obviously random forum user #1 only doesnt have a 70 win % and is not rated in the top 10 because of the system. It is hilarious. I have been solo queuing since way before solo q came out – against proper team before solo q was around, You learn how to carry and how to fight. I suck at team q because I dont understand compositions or team work as well and teamspeak distracts me, but in solo q you can carry pretty hard if you get good enough.

This is not about how good you are at this game but a mathematical thing. Higher MMR you have lower MMR your teammates will have.

And that whole carrying thing everyone is boasting about is a joke. GW2 does not have a class that is so OP that it can do miracles on its own. If you have 4 team members who will lose every duel you will lose.

I haven’t played the game in a long time because I know the PvP scene will take another 12 months to develop into something substancial.

I saw that the leaderboards were being reset so I played two games of solo queue. I win twice and all of a sudden I’m #1 on the leaderboard. As of today I’ve been knocked down to #2. The leaderboards are still a joke and to be honest I can’t even tell if they’ve done anything.

Hehe I found the reset funny also. I must admit it was fun playing in a bit lower skill enviroment since rewards are the same anyway eventhough it makes you rage now and then.

Normaly when you see a 3vs1 fight it is no brainer but in one match a condition warrior acctualy downed whole point with longbow xD and he was very new to the whole pvp it seemed.

So yeah a nice change also new players will learn to play faster this way than only by playing with other new players.

Yeah and capricorn has canon I did not mention it since it does not provide points but now when I think of it neither does skyhammer canon so yeah every map has something it seems.

11 is a very small sample you need to take a sample 1000 games or something in that area. Bigger the sample more accurate the calculation.

I am not sure about that. Considering how matchmaking works now 70 seems high if you are playing actively.
I think if matchmaking worked as it should everyone would be arround 50% wins but some would be playing in higher league and rest in lower league.

This if for soloQ in teamQ it is diffrent story.

GW1 had the same thing chill/cripple chill had like 66% reduction and cripple about 33% if that is the case in gw2 also than I think it is cool.
Removing poison damage could be nice though since it already reduces heal by 33% I think.

This is not about PvE only WvW only and PvP only people. Game fails when it comes to casuals who want to play all parts of the game.

And we want the game to be connected somehow. Total split of game modes was just a bad decision.

This looks like EU solo queue only much like my team. My bad MMR made me ragequit solo queues altogether because no matter how good I am or how amazing and faceroll my build is I can’t carry 4 rank 10’s who just bought the game and thought “hey we know nothing about this game… let’s solo queue.” As far as team queues go I normally play with my WvW guildies and I know they’re not the most experienced when it comes to sitting on points but we seem to faceroll every team we come across except for teams with players that have 5k+ wins who obviously win due to their experience and knowledge of mechanics.
E.g.: second game we played last night one of my guildies got kicked out of Guild Wars after queue popped and couldn’t get back in for about an hour but we still won the 4v5 match. (I’ll link screenshot when I get on my PC.)

5k wins+ wow where did you find that guy I would guess it being NA, i do not recognize any name.

The problem is in rewards. You could get more glory and faster in hot join than in turnament for most of the time.
Now they equalized it kind of.
When turnaments will yield better rewards than hot joins thing will sort out for themselves.

I think pressure panels should be renamed and just shatter at random with no notice and stay like that for 3 secs or something. That way you could use them at your advantage if able but only in that short interval removing lame builds who exploit it

And close the cannon room now it is only one big spam in there.

I think that will be great if done right. PvP WvW and PvE should not be seperate since it is all the same game. But at the moment only thing in PvP you get for PvE are laurels.

They care about money which comes from PvE because people buy gems for clothes, minies, costumes, finishers … PvP does not care about that much and they do not care about pvp.

Have you not seen the assassin/ogre/skyhammer canon/8bit mushroom cloud/phoenix/phalanx etc etc finisher/armor models being used? All that came from the gem store. Pvper’s will spend some money when money they desire is presented to them. Problem, there is not much you can actually offer them outside of said weapon/armor/finisher animations.

I have seen them a lot in WvW yes … and now you have to finnish downed foes in PvE where they are probably used also. In pvp I see Rabbit, Dolyak, Wolf, Tiger, Bear, Shark etc … besides the finnishers you listed drop from chests in pvp with limited use.

Both ideas are great. I am also in favor of being able to choose normalized characters.
You can see a huge norn guardian using hammer skill 4 from moon but same is not true at all for tiny asuras.

To blaim DEVs is pointless. They are just workers who do what bosses tell them to do.
The company has to get more employees for pvp to work or assign more people to develop pvp but I already said why that probably will not happen.

Yeah. I don’t get why guardian is rated so high on these lists here. The only guardians I get in my solo queues are full dps and they seem to die in every single 1v1 against whatever class. I’ve seen a bunker guardian twice in my last 60 matches or so.

It amazes me how few bunker guards there are considering how good they are at winning games. I think people just get caught up in thinking that they win games by racking up high personal kills instead of capturing and holding points.

It is just in human nature. In football people care who scores goals not who prevents them.

We had a spirit watch map and a player was just just trolling arround jumping in circles arround point without doing anything for whole or most match. Whether it was ours theirs or someone fighting on it.

AFK and disconects happen especialy with long quee times. But jumping in circles near a point and just trolling the team is a whole other thing.

For Solo Queue, that’s exactly how it works. Try to win that match with PUGs. They’d all have to be very terrible guardians for you to even have a chance….or you’d have to have all necromancers. I feel like all necromancers team counters all guardian team with all those conditions. Regardless, both situations are exceedingly unlikely and thus outside the realm of applicability of the calculation.

That is just one situation from your list. 5 Warrios vs 5 Necros i would bet on warriors also. You can not just make up something that is wrong in 50% of matches and call it good.

And 5 bunker guards winning aggainst 5 hambows yeah they really would have to be terrible.

I think it is fine as it is. I play a Guardian and giving thief this ability would just give him ability to recover in peace for 3 seconds and fight for 7 secons etc … or just use as much stealth as possible if they could decap/cap until 50% and then even if they die they can still keep point contested for 10 seconds atleast.

If Guardian uses his elite and becomes invulnerable for 3 secs the point also gets decaped and stealth is some form of invulnerability.

It also makes players think more they can not just mass hide the whole team because point will become decaped but with this in 4vs4 fight they could just hide for a bit recover and restart if the fight wasnt looking good.

Workaround:

Change character after match is over and before it starts. Duration timer is paused when switching to another character.

You can use multiple glorybooster in a row up to 9-10 i think for 9-10hrs of duration.

Ah cool I didnt know that they stack still stacking them up for 10 hours and go play some pve seems like a waist

I agree with you sPvP could use less spam… But as i see it legendaries won’t be that common. I was thinking of combining seasonal ranks(if that will ever be reality) with titles and legendary armor. Leaderboard ranks are so random…

But would you really only want a colored line on your armor and a title instead of a legendary weapon, armor, titles and achievment points ?

I did not agree only with who should and should not have access to Legendary things the rest is good. I would like to see it done like in PvE if you were like top 3 you would have Legendary icon arround your head when someone clicks you hehe.

I disagre with some of your post. I think legendary weapons are far more suited for hot join than for spvp.

I think spvp could use less spam not more.

Turneys should give titles based on leaderboards or bronze, silver, gold linings somewhere on player or something similar. GW1 had capes which showed you are among top + titles.

I am having a lot of problems with pvp glory boosters lately. And i guess other players can relate to them.

They are good for hot join since you use it before joining then play some games and be done with it.

But in turnaments with 10 min waiting time you waste half of it. Maybe you could change them so that they loose duration only during playing games ?

If time would accumulate when using more than one booster would be nice also.

I do not think it is fake information. A few days ago someone linked shard ingame during turnament and it had exchange for legendary information on it.
