I second this! IT would really help a lot of smaller guilds work together!
However, there should be a maximum amount of players in all alliances system, so that the large guilds don’t just ally with each other, but have an incentive to add some smaller guilds into their numbers…. Something like Maximum players in a guild = 400, maximum in a guild alliance (total with all alliances combined) = 600…and it wouldn’t matter how you get that number 1 more 200 person guild, or 1 100 person and 4 more 25 person guilds, etc etc.

Why do you need to delete him? Just add another character and play that one now.
Is it now against the code of conduct to be AFK? I accidentally left my character AFK in the new area the other night after my computer suddenly rebooted for updates…I spent a very nervous twenty minutes prior to being able to log back in worried I might be suspended again….I was told I was given “one time leniency” after my suspension…and know for a fact that I had done nothing more than being AFK in drytop….is it just being AFK in drytop that was the issue? I don’t know what I can and cannot do anymore since it doesn’t talk about being AFK in the code of conduct or the user agreement. I do love the game, and have bought a lot of gems, but now it makes me not want to buy anymore gems if I could be banned for my next offense….when I did nothing more than be AFK.
It is not now against the code of conduct, it has always been against the code of conduct. You repeatedly claim to “just” have been afk and having done “nothing more than” being afk while this is not true. You had your healing skill on auto combined with a position which granted you an ingame benefit from standing there and healing yourself.
Also it obviously has not been only a few minutes but extended periods of time which brings us to the point where you are getting punished. The term ArenaNet uses for this is “extended unattended gameplay”.
The amount of gems you bought or will buy does not matter. Also why would you be afraid of “getting banned for the next offense”? Do you plan to do this again? Just don’t put your heal on auto and don’t stand around gaining benefits when you “go afk” and you won’t have a problem (just like everyone else who happens to not get banned for being afk).
PS: Your character will not keep standing around in the game after your PC crashed and the game is not running. The character disappears from the game within a minute, which is clearly not an “extended period of time” and therefore this is not an issue.
I’ve read the “rules of conduct” as well as the “User agreement”. It does not mention “Unattended extended gameplay” Could you please link were you found that? It does mention botting and using of third part programs…but nothing about AFK even for extended periods of time. And what is extended? I was standing during the non-dust storm events and then doing the dust storm events (so 45 minutes of AFK)? Is that “extended?” Where is this defined? I had recieved a phone call last night while standing in Silverwastes, I walked away from my computer for about 30 minutes…is that “extended” I was working with 3 other commanders and had my tag on for the red fort so people would gather there. We were all taking a break anyways…was that now a bannable offense? I recieved 2 chests during that time (I don’t know how, I was on my guardian at the time…which doesn’t have a pet…I expected to time-out…but didn’t for some reason)…should I have been banned for that?…because that was my first thought when I came back to my computer “ooh crap, I left my character AFK! I could have been banned for life!”
I honestly just want a straight answer? Is it being AFK for hours? what is the metric? Or should I be afraid every time I accidentally leave myself logged in these days? Because honestly, since I have never cheated on a game or used any 3rd party program, I never used to worry about this before…or with any other game prior to this….now I do…and it has greatly decreased my enjoyment of the game.
I have never, ever been suspended from any game in the past for just playing the game (whether AFK or not)….no 3rd party programs, no botting, nothing but the game itself and in-game abilities. (you mention putting your healing skill on auto as being a bad thing….then why is it an in-game ability you can turn on?)
It took me a little over 3 days to get a response. And when you do, they will not tell you why you were suspended, but if it was in error, they will re-instate the account.
Map and Location: Dry Top, between Flatland Wastes [&BHIHAAA=] and Prosperity Waypoint.
World (aka server): Megaserver
Date and time of day, plus timezone: all day, all nightUsually it is rangers with autohealing. Their pets autodefend their owners. But i seen also engi and minion-necr there.
I just cleaned up about 25 players afk macroing in NA and EU, we’ll keep a watch on this area. Thanks.
I am actually now scared to play or ever leave my computer without logging off entirely for fear since I was one of the players suspended the night that Chris posted this. I run no macro’s, I run no third party programs. I used to leave my ranger with my auto-attack set to my healing spring (CTRL + right click) while I was away from my computer (switching it back to the #1 skill when dust storm hits) (returning to play whenever the dust storm would come up to run the dust storm events). That night I was doing the same thing…when I was suddenly forcefully logged off and suspended.
Proposal Overview
Possible raid mechanics: How to start a raid instance
Goal of Proposal
Idea for starting a raid instance utilizing existing mechanics within the GW2 game.
Proposal Functionality
A “raid” instance could be created by clicking on an interface (a stone, or door), this creates a portal which exists for 5 minutes. During that 5 minute period, whoever enters the portal, enters the “raid” instance. After the 5 minute period, the interface could be clicked again creating a new portal to a new instance. These are both things that exist in the game already. The 5 minute period (or 2 minutes or whatever time is appropriate) is similar to how the instances worked during the “Scarlet raids” where you could enter the instance only during the first 2 minutes of a raid. An interface to create a portal is done all over Tyria already.
By utilizing this method, no new coding would have to be done to add a “raid mode” to commanders or anything like that. It is an easy way to create group instances of a dungeon.
Associated Risks
While you could set a maximum size for the instance (50-100-150 people for instance) it would be hard to set a minimum size and as such during unpopular times, you could have only a few people entering the instance and attempting it (this may not be a bad thing for challenge). Other bad side is that since the portal does not restrict who enters, you cannot control everyone who enters if a guild wants to do this alone for instance. This could be mitigated with a guild “device” for creating dungeon portals on their own where only guild members could enter. This might be a good thing for encouraging players to work with others (gets rid of the “you can’t come with us” mentality). Although this also allows for griefers, etc to enter your “raid” instance.
Ugh, everyone knows they are spies for “Bubbles” leading into the next LS after Mordremoth. Isn’t it awfully convenient for them to be in Dry top (a dry area for an aquatic couple) pushing you to defeat Modremoth….
Supposedly all the Quaggan’s were pushed from their waters by Bubbles…what if they weren’t “pushed” so much as an advanced scouting party for their aquatic dragon overlord!
This is a quit-worthy disaster if it’s not limited to pre-80s.
over-dramatize much? According to these forums, everything is a quit-worthy disaster. If they DIDN’T make this change someone would call it a quit-worthy disaster.
It’s really not that big of a deal.
Look at it this way, A guardian has less of a chance of getting silk…but you have MORE of a chance of getting DUSK!
Plus, if this is like any of their other drop changes (remember the patch that stated “significantly increased drop rates of ascended armor boxes in FOTM”)…then you won’t notice the change at all.
People panic and threaten to quit if an ANET employee stubs their toe around here.
“The said “Ouch.” you know what that means….their killing off all the warriors in the game and converting them to necros."
"no, you fool, everyone knows that “OUCH” stands for “Operates Under Cattle Hooves” so everyone is going to be turned into a cow."
“If that happens I’m going to quit.”
“I’m quitting also until a dev comes on here and explains what exactly they meant by “Ouch.”
“DEV’s!! You never talk to us…why won’t you explain this new “Ouch.” to us!
Relax folks, your world will not end.
Am I misunderstanding something? Don’t you have to be physically in the tournament as well for a chance to win and get the reward?
Yes,
Also travel, sponsorship, and real world money obligations. People that say “skill based” and “git gud and climb the ranks” are trolls that really have no idea what they are talking about. Anet isn’t paying for these people to fly to all these countries. This armor will be out of reach for 99.99% of players no matter how hard you pvp at home.
That being said. I am sure that its the same armor everyone will be able to earn on the track but with some kind of effect or trim added to it, and you will probably never see these people in game. I don’t think Anet would expense the resources to make a totally different armor for such a small small fraction of their audience, but I guess we will see.
I really hope they plan to add a in-game tournament system and a leaderboard that actually measures something.
you know what? You’re right. I bet those people didnt just pick up the game and start playing it like everyone else in the world. They just complained really Hard and ANET felt bad for them and invited them to super elite special tournaments so they could have a chance at the best shiny pixels in a video game. Grow up kid. Not everything is gonna be handed to you just cus you dont feel like putting in the effort.
Go ahead call me a troll now. I’ll be ok
I am not expecting it to be handed to me. I don’t even care that this armor exists or that I wont have it. For the people that earn it, good for them, they put in the time, the money, and traveled, and won to earn it. I am not trying to get anet to change their mind on the requirements. I am just trying to get people to realize there is much much more to even participating in tournaments than “gettin good”. This is not a “skill based” reward because there much more than skill required. It is an eSports exclusive reward because it is gated behind tournaments most of us don’t have the time or money to participate in.
Telling people to “git good” is juvenile when you have to commit real money resources and time to travel to locations across the globe. “Git good” is the most trivial part, there are many people very skilled at PvP that have the skill but don’t have the time or the money to participate. You have to also seek sponsorship. Expend real money to meet obligations. And be able to put whatever that is going on in your life on pause to travel to other countries to even participate. So yes, when you tell people to “git gud and climb the ranks”, you are being juvenile because there is much more to it than that.
So continue to make assumptions on things you know nothing about, or personally attack me to try to invalidate what I said, troll. It is what it is. An eSports exclusive reward not skill based reward. Nothing wrong with that, but it is what it is.
What in the world are you talking about? I don’t participate in PvP…but I am pretty sure you don’t have to travel to play it. You also don’t have to travel to get into the tournaments….they happen in the game. And I DO believe that these guys who win these tournaments DO deserve to get something special for it. I will look upon it jealously, because I am not good at PvP…but I will also look on the guy who has it with some respect…because they earned it.
Oh for goodness sake, let the PVP’rs have some special armor. It is just looks, who cares! I am really jealous of the weapons that were given to the tournament winners, but you know what…I think it is great! It shows that these guys accomplished something! We NEED MORE items that can only be gotten through exclusive content not less. Heck I only run around with my fractal weapons since they are rarer in this game than legendaries and I always get asked about them.
OMG! Can you imagine open world housing! Lets put 3 million + houses all over Tyria, and while we’re at it, lets add the 300,000+ guild halls to the landscape.
We can have guild vs guild home decorating contests….he look at that beautiful waterfall….too bad there are homes all over it / in it / under it.
They don’t just go punishing people or suspending accounts for no reason. If you truly believe you are innocent of any wrong-doing, take a look at your equipment. A friend of mine recieved a warning for botting, and he realized it was the mouse he was using…the mouse allowed him to program macros to do certain things and he had programmed a combat sequence into it. Even though this was outside of the game (he wasn’t botting or using macro’s in the game) they detected this sequence as being not-human and gave him a warning on it (they didn’t tell him what the warning was about…just like for you…but he figured it out based on he rules of one click = one action). He disabled his mouse macro’s and went back to one click = one action and he was never suspended…and the warning eventually faded away.
The rules do not only apply to specific guild-wars 2 bots or macros….make sure you are using none on your keyboard or mouse also….even if it seems innocuous , it could be causing your suspension. But I do not believe that they warn and then suspend people for no reason whatsoever.
How could the NOT reset them? Traits are being changed completely.
It was merged into this thread (long discussion): https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Feedback-Questions-Town-clothes-Costumes-Combat
If i already have legendary weapon incineraton, Its possible to use this skin by using wardobe for my second not legendary dagger? Same for staff and other?
Search should be your friend. This has not only been answered (by anet) but fully debated by the community.
I’m not going to re-post all of the threads devoted to this:
Short answer is: YES, you can use the skin on your secondary dagger…now before you respond here…dig up one of the other threads where people have been discussing this at length (probably on this very page in the forum)
I only run with travelers runes….love them. and tbh, I didn’t notice much of a damage decrease on my guard.
Can we all just agree that there are no valid reasons to be against dueling, and that everyone is either trolling or a kitten. This shouldn’t even be a discussion, it is just the same “but i dont want to duel therefore it sucks and i dont want it blah blah” vs actual reasons for why it will be great.
You obviously didn’t read my post: I’ll re-post it for you…since it is an extremely valid reason to not have dueling (in the sense that many of you want it) while at the same time giving a possible alternative to allow dueling.
The only way to put dueling into the game is if once a duel is accepted, the game enacts a sort of “PvP mode” that changes your armor and skills and weapons to the PvP versions (just like in custom arena)…
The biggest problem I see with open world dueling is the backlash once it is implemented. And in this instance I am talking about balance backlash. Right now we have two separate environments PVP and PvE/WvW. The reason there are two environments is because the skills / weapons / sigils / armor need to be balanced in two distinct ways. In PvP it is small-group or 1v1 play…so classes need to be balanced in that aspect of the game. In PVE and WVW it is mostly zerg-large group play. Especially now with mega-servers. The developers already struggle with this….because things that are balanced for group-play are not balanced for 1v1 and vice-versa.
SO the minute this gets implemented, (if they don’t use a “pvp mode”) there would be a ton of duelers all over the board saying things like “need to nerf Mesmers, they are OP dueling!” “I cannot beat a guardian in dueling, they are OP!! Please nerf vigor and reflect!” and countless other posts about how un-balanced the classes are for dueling.
That is my main worry with dueling…is that it is suddenly going to take a ton of developer time that could be used on adding more dungeons / areas / fixing balance issues in WvW and PvE…and more quality of life improvements. They almost need a separate team just for this…like they have a separate team for PvP…UNLESS they make it use the PvP skills (and let the PvP team handle it).
90% success (pretty much all of it) I like the idea of mega-server to help with low-pop, I like the trait changes, the dyes, wardrobe, changes to ascended and legendaries, etc…
10% flop (timers on world-bosses making it so it will be impossible to do most of the world bosses for working individuals) and waypoints always contested being always contested….and not showing temples that are clear until you arrive….this 10% is pretty major though to me so it almost makes the rest feel “Bleh” in comparison.
It’s almost going to feel like a new game.
I would have rather seen another way for people to get ascendeds for ALT’s….as well as somehow adding additional stats to existing ascended’s (being able to slowly upgrade it to near legendary status with stat-switching). It is just so kitten hard to equip ALT’s if you play with them as well as the multiple sets that I need on each ALT for doing different things. I really wish this had been addressed in this feature release.
Achievements > General> Weapon Master > Shield Master would like a word, too.
Warrior/Engineer/Guardian + ambient = Shield Master
I gotta try that…it’s one of my last weapon-masters to complete….
And as for giant-slayer, Brisbane wildlands (as others have pointed out) golem quest…you can re-do it infinite times with a group about every 5 mintues or so for 4-6 giants each time….myself and 4 others got a couple hundred giants in an afternoon and had our giant-slayer achievement in a couple weeks of casually working on it.

This was a stealth nerf recently. I never had a problem solo’ing during the temple runs before the last patch…now suddenly I was getting absolutely no loot from champions at the temple…Myself and several others were all talking about it in map chat and so we decided to party up and see what happened, instantly we all recieved loot bags from the next champion. I left the party briefly and killed another champ and got nothing. At least for temple runs, you do have to be in a party now…it had nothing to do with damage since I was running full ascended zerker and doing tons of damage.
I have LONG been opposed to timers in GW2 ever since they were first instituted with Tequatl….they are completely immersion breaking and have no place in the game. The one exception I will give to this is a timer after the boss has spawned…like the Karka Queen. It makes sense that after defeat, they would need time to recoup before attacking again.
Rather than now putting ALL bosses on timers, I would have much preferred they go the opposite route and instituted pre-events for all of the bosses that must be completed in order for the boss to spawn…followed by a timer before the boss can spawn again…this adds a random element to boss spawns in that in the middle of the night or during odd hours when not a lot of people are on, the pre-events might fail and the boss never spawn…(although the people can keep trying until it does spawn)….this also has much better immersion since it feels like you are bringing about the boss…
“Help the Priest discover the cause of the mysterious portals in the Godslost swamp”

….not, it’s 7:00pm, looks like Shadow behemoth is coming out.
Got another precursor, # 7 (3 forge, 4 drop)

Remember, you just need to farm lots and lots of mobs to have lots and lots of chances.
Unfortunately, with the megaservers hitting on April 15th this will not be possible anymore.
I have every slayer achievement and almost all of the weapons kills achievements (thats 5000 kills with each weapon, and 3000 (minimum) of each creature type in the game killed for those keeping score)….Ive killed lots of mobs. 150% MF base and usually run with lots of bonus’s to get me over 200%. I do get at least 1-2 exotics a week (sometimes more)….and dozens of rares (I dont keep track of these since I take them in groups of four and flush them in the mystic forge)
RNG is RNG, I’ve never gotten a pre-cursor of any type…some of us are just unlucky.
On the other hand, I am Pro-megaserver for the simple reason that I have been on a low-pop server during these living story events and I have seen them struggle to get enough people to do the marrionette or defeat the knights….and it is extremely frustrating…moreso by the immense amounts of loot that the high-pop servers get from these events, which drives up the economy making it even more impossible for low-pop server people to get ahead in the game.
But part of that has to do with the mechanics that were coded into these fights. I find it rediculous that a game that was hyped as having scaling for all events continues to implement fights that have no scaling whatsoever, making it impossible for the low-pop servers to do these things…which forces them to guest…which frustrates the high-pop servers…
Simple solution would have been re-introducing scaling and working on making it work properly.
I have LONG been opposed to timers in GW2 ever since they were first instituted with Tequatl….they are completely immersion breaking and have no place in the game. Wow, I have never even seen an ascended weapon or armor drop for myself…lots of rings in fractals, but not a single ascended weapon or armor drop….I’ve seen others get them….just never me.
you must be lucky as heck to get enough to want to do the 4 to 1 swap.

So for me the Priority of adding Dueling….WAY low…because as soon as you do, you now have to commit way more dev time afterwards than the simple implementation.
dude duel me. DUDE duel Meh!
dude. dude.
dude dual MEEEE11!!
Hey look everybody DUDE is chicken and wont duel me!
I bet 5 million gold and he still wont duel me.
dude duel me.
dude.Ban champion trains, I once killed a champion and they all harassed me because of that. I couldn’t sleep for the next 2 weeks.
Block and report.
Next case.
That’s a separate issue. And also needs to be addressed, so why don’t we save dev time and let them fix some of the other harrassment in the game (someone else pointed out getting kicked in dungeons) rather than giving the kittens one more thing to harrass players with.
Honestly though, I duel friends right now in custom arena’s…why is that so hard to do? I also agree with someone else where as soon as open-world dueling is enabled, you are going to have a whole nother storm of people needing classes balanced in the open world. I LIKE that PvP and PvE are separate now…I really want it to stay that way. And you might say “well, we won’t go to the forums and complain about class balance in PVE”…but someone will.
They have a hard enough time balancing classes in PvP and PvE and WvW without adding PvE&P (Player vs Environment & Player) balancing.
Ugh. I have had so many bad experiences with Duel Harrassment it actually made me quit on game…mainly because I seemed to be good at dueling, which meant that then everyone and their brother wanted to duel me…even when I wasn’t in the mood for it…
I would only be okay with dueling if it had some very restrictive measures put into place. It needs to be something that stops the person doing the requests from otherwise harrassing the person being requested until they give in.
I think a system that could work would be “Party dueling” wherein it uses the current party system and you can only duel someone in a party with you. If you are already in a party, they cannot try to duel you or anything until you join their party….this at least gets rid of the annoying pop-up that many games throw at you… Duel Y / N? I got so sick of seeing that pop-up.
Not sure how to stop the chat harrassment of “duel me, duel me, XXXX is a chicken cause they wont duel me, just duel me….come on, don’t be a wuss, just duel me, please duel me. Hey guys, XXXX sucks cause they won’t duel me…Fight Meh! Fight Meh!” It would be annoying to continually have to block people.
Just want to quickly add for those who missed it, we’ll be covering the answers to the bulk of the questions in this thread in the blogs over the next two days after today.
We’ll also continue to monitor and adapt the megaserver system once it’s fully enabled to ensure it provides the best experience possible, so once you’ve seen it in action please make sure to leave comments, feedback, and suggestions as always!
So the next two blogs will just elaborate on what is already announced.
They won’t contain anything new. So much for my hope for guild halls.
Read the article again….last paragraph.
I really love this change. I think this is an amazing idea to handle the low-pop servers and particularly events like Tequatl and the Tri-Wurm! I might actually have the chance to do those again without TTS!
I think people need to wait and see with this feature. If it works like they say and you still group your guild / server etc into maps this could work very well. It could also help a lot of servers. And if done well I don’t think it will affect the RP community as much as they fear. After-all if they are dominating a zone, they will have that map. In a way it is practically giving them their own over-flows for RP since you can always “join” your fellow RP’s on their map until that map is full with nothing but RP’rs.
On a side-note, I really hope this system also takes into account those that you have chosen to /ignore or barred….because then if these caustic people anger enough people, they will have no one left to play with!
Necro has more survivability…but I would have to say coming from theif, you might like Elementalist far more….it is much faster paced and you can do the Dagger – dagger build which is super fast around the battle-field while still producing serious damage…much more than your thief…while also having a lot of utility. Problem is, you cannot take a hit…but that is part of the excitement also.
^ I really like Saiste, I love the meaning behind it. 10/10
My three sylvari
Kali Thal’Salanot = warrior
Skyla Thal’Salanot = Mesmer and Kali’s younger sister.
I used the same model for both of these but adjusted the face slightly so that they look like sisters but not exactly alike.
And Kapani = Elementalist (no relation to the other two) Different model, etc…went single name with her as most Sylvari have single names.
I can handle being told to switch to a certain build for a dungeon run. My concern is that with the ability to reset traits ANYWHERE, people are going to be asking to switch the entire team’s stat-distribution and build before every specific BOSS fight just to eke out a little more of an advantage.
Instead of “LF1M must be X build”, it’ll be “What kind noob are you? You didn’t research the three different builds and gear sets you need to counter the specific mechanics of each of the bosses in this run?”
The trait-reset can stay free, but it should really be limited to within towns, or at least NOT inside dungeons.
LOL, I actually do this to the minor extent already allowed (switching my pull-down traits) and switching my skills depending on the fight. It really does make a difference…I’ve tried explaining this to guildmates and the ones who have tried it are usually amazed at what just little tweaks can make for each fight…so I am excited to be able to make big tweaks in between fights.
I find a lot of “Elite” players funny. I joined a 49 fractal group last night that failed once on getting the wisps in swamp…immediately a guy quit out saying the whole group sucks…and we should all learn fractals before coming back in. We put up a new LFG and then we got another new player…succeeded on the wisps on the very next attempt, and had a nearly flawless run all the way through…doing mossman, aetherblades, thaumanova and finally Mai Trin with no wipes or issues at all…
…I wonder how MR Elite did on his next group…we were better without him.
There are "Elite"s who are idiots and will do nothing but grief, and there are “Elites” who simply play the game and don’t complain about it when there is a slight setback or someone not running the meta.
Even did a speed run in AC which was advertised as such “level 80’s only, experienced, speed run”…about 1/2 way through we realized that one of our group had obviously never done the dungeon before. Rather than kicking…we explained the rest of the dungeon and took a pause at each section to explain what was coming next. It was still a fast run…though not as fast as everyone knowing….but at least I think we gained another player now that knows what he is doing for next time.
My point is that the “idiot Elites” will find any excuse if something doesnt go right. I had a guy yell at me for not wearing and wielding ascendeds on a speed run…he didn’t realize that I hate the ascended looks and had re-skinned everything….I linked my gear…he quickly shut up…especially when I solo’d the next boss when he and the rest of the party went down (and I wear zerker).

I lost all respect for anyone with a legendary when I saw a guy with 500 achievement points join me in a dungeon with Twilight who then later switched to Bolt on his warrior.
Legendaries aren’t really legendary when you can just buy them off the TP for real cash (this guy obviously paid cash for his two).
I like the changes and adding them to wardrobe, I really don’t think it diminishes the legendaries in any way…since only someone who got one legendary can use the skin…so they already got their legendary….its not like they made it a skin that just anyone can use.
I had a couple ideas for Arena Net to help with pre-cursors. First idea was making them purchasable using Laurels for like 150-200(200 is max I would ever pay) Laurels. I mean, you already spend roughly 3 months gathering, crafting, and fighting various creatures(and people). Why not just have people spend that effort on a tangible goal. Being able to purchase a pre-cursor from the Laurel Vendor for like 150 or 175 Laurels. Isnt the Legendary suppose to be proof of Mastery over every aspect of the game?
Other idea(and less thought out) would be a pre-cursor for the price of 1k dungeon tokens from every dungeon. So roughly 8k dungeon tokens. This method would at least get some other less popular dungeons more populated again.
I agree that precursors should have more guaranteed ways of acquiring them (other than TP), and this is the way to do it.
Like your examples, the quantities have to be really high in order to offset the guaranteed acquisition
I actually like these ideas as well. It would give me something to work towards besides gold.
Is this fractal some exploit farming place if you get so many rings? Why anet doesn’t fix it?
not an exploit. Fractal rings were put in fractals as a reward….particularly for high-level fractals. If I remember correctly, you had to do at least level 10 to have a small chance at a ring, and at least level 24 to have a chance at an infused ring originally with your chances going up the higher level you did. (now it doesn’t seem to matter what level you do for your chance at either infused or normal).
So people who ran lots of fractals (I’ve done over 2500), even if you got a ring 1 out of 10, would still have 250 rings….which I didn’t, but I probably had over 100 at one point….it was one of the few decent rewards from fractals.
What if… just a crazy thought… We could salvage them for luck.
It seems like a pretty good be-all dump stat for anything that’s otherwise not useful.
During and before fractured we were asking for them to be salvaged for Ascended materials (dragonite or empyrials, even deldrimite..)…but I gave up waiting and sold the non-infused ones anyways now…the only people that have a lot of these are fractal runners…and I am still a little bitter about how we are ignored most of the time so I never have hope for anything for us…we are a minority.
I had three bank tabs of rings….I sold all he non-infused ones for the 4.5 silver a piece. Then put infused rings on all of my ALTS (8 total level 80s), still have about 15-20 infused rings (don’t keep the non-infused ones)…
I actually have two warriors I’ve leveled up ( I have an alt addiction ) and hands down I feel they are the best class in the game currently. Just in terms of the multiple, different, interesting specs, weapon choices and the fact you can still feel tanky with arms filled with dynamite. Just a great all round you can do it all class, super fun.
Yet, I have well over 2k hours on my Guardian despite all that. Even though I often feel my hands are tied and there’s classes I just can’t equally compete with.. there seems to be some sort of calming awe I bring to our WvW group. Everyone tells me things are just better, they last longer, get more kills when I’m on the Guardian. Sometimes I have trouble seeing it.
I intend to continue with the Guardian until I see how the balance plays out after patch. I just think it’s insane that Warriors have been where they are at for so long and Guardian are apparently so close to being game breaking that our biggest change is going to be a Vigor nerf that no one was asking for. Seriously, Anet… where’s the “OMG NERF PERMA DODGE GUARDIAN” threads? /boggle
Historically, when these balance notes come out, they don’t showcase all the little nerfy balance changes. Maybe Guardians are fine and Anet intents to bring everyone down to our level? One can hope, yes?
This. People always ask me to bring my guardian, even though I have a full zerk warrior with scholars runes. They claim they last longer and the runs go quicker when I have my guard.
I also agree with the “why vigor nerf”. Seriously…it is so wierd where ANET comes up with some of their balance things….only an 8% decrease to warriors passive healing, yet they have 2-3x my guards hp’s AND 2-3x my guards passive healing? But Vigor needs a nerf because I dodge too often? If I don’t dodge, I die. If a warrior doesn’t dodge, he can soak the damage and still heal it away.
I am one of those that has said though that Guardians are in a good place, because I do play every class often. I think Rangers, Ele,s , mesmers, and Necroes all need more help than guardians…and need to be brought UP to guardian level. I also think Warriors need to be seriously nerfed to get them down to a “normal” Guardian level. I feel the same about certain builds of Engi and Thief…they need to be brought down to guardian levels. But in all, Guardians are useful in every aspect of the game. I’m not sure if that will still be true after the vigor nerf….but we will see.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong but the loophole (in terms of acquiring the skin) won’t exist. You’ll only acquire skins in the wardrobe from account bound and soul bound items, so when you craft Eternity and it isn’t bound you don’t yet unlock the skin. Only once it becomes bound, and thus not sellable on the TP, will the skin be unlocked in your wardrobe.
They’re not saying they will have the eternity skin, they are saying they will have twilight and sunrise (as well as both precursors) skins.
Since you accountbound twilight = get the skin, accountbound sunrise = get the skin, then make eternity which is now not accountbound and sell it. You make back most of your money that would have been spent on twilight and sunrise, but you still get those two skins.
Yeah, 800 exotic greatswords and over 2000 rare greatswords into the forge…nothing to show for it. For a long time I threw ever single rare weapon I got into the forge in sets of 4 of the same….no precursors. I ran dungeons for months and threw all tokens into making exotic greatswords….no precursor. I went after and got every slayer acheivement as well as most of the weapon killer achievements, no precursor.
I’ve had all gifts to make 1 legendary for 9 months now, and gifts to make a second legendary since around december. I can actually make either twilight or sunrise since I have gifts for both. Never seen a precursor at all in this game and been playing since launch.
I’m one of those also that no longer even congratulate someone when they get their precursor….I’m bitter. I had a friend join the game 2 months ago…he got his first precursor (the shield) doing Lion’s arch events with me during the first part of the escape from lions arch event. Got his second two nights ago doing a fractal run with me…as well as an ascended weapons box (something I have also never seen).
RNG hates me. I really was looking forward to a scavanger hunt or some quest to go and get precursors….but, not happening this feature update.
Fractal skins, and Tequatl skins. Both RNG based so your luck may be better than others in this aspect, but I do see very few of them on my server…and people always ask where I got mine…particularly Fractal sword, torch, and daggers.
I’ve done 2500 fractals and have 3 daggers, 1 sword, 1 torch, 3 scepters, 2 maces, 2 spears, 1 trident, 1 rifle, 1 harpoon gun, 1 shortbow, 1 greatsword, 1 hammer, 1 focus. I’ve never seen the warhorn, longbow, staff, shield or axe. I really want the axe…
Drop rate seems to be less now than prior to the fractured patch…but maybe that is just me. But I haven’t gotten a single one since fractured.
I hate to say I agree, but I agree. Guardian is in a good spot…they need to nerf warriors. Guardian is useful in every aspect of the game…whether it is fractals, or dungeons, or WvW….its just that Warriors are too OP right now that it makes guardians seem bad. They are in no way as bad as Rangers or Ele’s right now though….those two classes and even Mesmer needs far more help than guardian.
Another good Trick with guardian is to take wall of reflection and get to the front of your zerg (particularly works well on bridges /chasms)….put your wall of reflection in front of your group to reflect back everything the enemy is throwing your way. You can often use your avengers shield also as you run up there to protect you and your group while you are getting the wall up. Make sure you have taken master of consecrations to make it last longer and regen faster.
I love watching zergs melt themselves….so many people just spam attacks in WvW without even looking if a guardian threw up a wall of reflect…and yet so few guardians use them in WvW!
I have 8 level 80’s all classes. I have mained different ones at different times….I started with Ele, then went to Ranger when they nerfed ele, then went Guardian, then thief, then Warrior, then mesmer, then Warrior again, then necro until that got nerfed, then guardian again, then mesmer again…recently engi.
I go through phases where I like one more than another, or simply want to change things up. All are running the current meta for their individual class (I spend time in each forum).
My opinions right now: Warrior is OP, I get bored with my warrior since it is too powerful….you can only 1-2 hit things so many times before you want a challenge. I run zerker warrior in full scholars…its OP plain and simple. I agree with nerfing it some.
Guardian is actually in a good place: It is useful in every aspect of the game, and does both decent damage and has decent defense…I run it full zerker with Travelers runes though because as someones said, mobility is key in this game. I do kind of wish the spirit weapons weren’t so useless though….and it could do for a bit of a damage buff (when compared to my warrior or ele). I use every weapon on my guardian which I love…I think it is the only class where I run with every weapon at all times and swap out regularly depending on situation.
I love the speed and mobility of my dagger dagger ele (scepter dagger with a group), it is just fun zipping around….but you have to be super careful since you can be one-hit pretty easily…but my goodness, the damage you do is beautiful when running full celestial with full divinity runes and zerker weapons. Things simply melt.
My Mesmer is Meh….I am thinking of switching from zerker with scholars running sword / torch or sword / focus to zerker with travelers for more mobility. I love sword for its mobility combined with the teleport to bounce around the battlefield…but so many mesmer abilities are bugged or bug out (cough warden cough) that otherwise would be awesome…still love running with my mesmer for guild puzzles though, they are just so useful. I just think mesmers are slow.
I used to love my thief in WvW, running around invis and backstabbing…not to mention the mobility is simply awesome…but lately she bores me. no real complaints about it…just bored with thief.
I mained my ranger for a long time…It makes a fantastic roamer in WvW, and is also a great solo in PVE. I did one of my full world map completions with my ranger. I get frustrated though since there is so much hate for rangers out there…and so many of the other classes are simply more dynamic in play. I love GS on my ranger, but both bows as well as sword / axe are all MEH. Ranger really needs some buffing in all of their weapons. I would love it if a full melee ranger were an option, but the only decent weapon they have right now is greatsword…and even that is pretty boring without the full burst capabilites that the warrior or guardian have.
Necro….oh necro….so much potential, so much fun, but so much uselessness when in groups or zergs….I really wish they would do something with condition damage….and necro could quickly become one of my favorites….I just love throwing out conditions and then spreading them around…so much fun to sit back and watch the world bleed….but then you’re in a group…and your measily damage compared to the other classes really starts to weigh on you.
I cannot comment on Engi yet….still getting my feet wet with this one…still learning.
If you can only change stats on your main’s legendary and not your alts, then what is the point. Getting a legendary should be a personal goal, not a character goal, in which case making it account bound would make sense, and taking all the benefits of it’s full glory should go across every character, not just one. And it’s still only one person that has the legendary, they’re just using it in different characters now instead of just one.
Now for people who have more than one legendaries of the same kind, it’s simple, Anet should unbind the ones you don’t need so you can sell it on the tp. Now you’re rich again, and you can start doing the process for another legendary.
This change is good, and just because people think that legendaries will lose their value, shouldn’t change the course that this system is giving us.
And legendaries are still, and will remain even after the patch, the hardest item to get in game.
I would argue getting a fractal or Tequatl weapon is harder than a legendary. To get a legendary, I can plop down a credit card. To get a tequatl or fractal weapon (specific one) means playing countless fractal levels and defeating tequatl hundreds of times until the right weapon drops….I’ve done literally thousands of fractals spending much more time in there than in gathering the materials for my legendary, without finding certain fractal weapons that I want (namely, staff, sheild and axe).
I have 3 daggers……the ones I am missing are the AXE, the staff, the shield and the longbow. I think thats it, I have all the others (2x spears, 3x sceptres)….and all obtained prior to fractured….I’ve gotten none since fractured.
The system would not break if they just had a limit to how many dual wield skins you can apply according to how many of that legendary you have. So you can only get one bolt per character from the transmutation charge system. If you have two bolts, they they would let you dual wield the bolt skins, be it both exotic, on all characters.
As many people innocently pointed out, you don’t have more legendaries than you have, you just have it spanned all across your account, in exotic form. But the fact that when you make one bolt and can dual wield when you only made one, that is broken, and unjustifiable by any reasons above, if anet wants to create a game like SRO where everything keeps getting more and more unfair (despite it being in bot form), then it really is a “let players leave GW2” tactic.
But, you are talking about development time to implement what you are asking since this ability isn’t in the game yet (there is nothing in the game that currently differentiates different dual-wield combos limiting one thing or another in them).
Anything requiring serious development time will require 2-3 months of work…ergo, not going to happen before April 15th.
If you want to leave constructive options for ANET, try and think of things that are already in the game that can be accomplished with a minimum of development work.
Examples: We know they can un-soulbind items. They have done it before. We know they can change one item for another (but only in an all or nothing capacity…for example when they switched magicfind). We know they can convert soul-bound to acccountbound…through a vendor…they have done this before with mining picks and axes. This last one requires some dev-work, but might not be terrible, since they can theoretically use the same mining pick vendor and just re-code what it carries….I don’t know though…might still take too much time.
Try and think around terms that can be accomplished in a short amount of time (prior to April 15th patch) and you may see better response from Devs.
