You think most “bot accounts” are “hacked”? I disagree… especially with this game.
With the right tools one person working an 8 hour day could easily ban 50 bots making no mistakes (If you want to make a few mistakes, you could ban 200 or so). That’s about 1 MILLION in sales a year assuming these bots “re-bought” the game.
I would take it a step further, have two working independently to confirm / ban bots, the tools would make it easy to find them, allow them to see their presence, categorize, look at history of reporting, both come to separate conclusions based on account history and watching them. (if they are warping everywhere like most do, just ban the kitten account already, tools can detect this easy…) You could even have them emulate a mob for .2 seconds, anyone who shoots you in that .2 seconds is a bot. People who LOOT without walking up to the mob are a bot… IT IS SO FREAKING EASY. (yes, I understand the back end code)
Yet, they choose not to do it, they choose to lose > 10 customers a day by not banning 10… it’s an odd business decision especially when there is so much money in it, and the cost for a team is really low.
Remember Mythic with the gold spammer / seller ban counter? The days of “balls” are long gone. Integrity of the game should be the number one thing.
I’d love to see downscaling where I’m standing on the side of the zone that makes me level 18 and you’re standing next to me in the one where you’re level 15 and I’m shooting you. Would be awesome!
They also wouldn’t be able to “instance over” other servers to you for events etc like they do now semi seamlessly. (you may not know they do this)
Oh, and open pvp in an already designed game the playerbase is a very small community… (with pvp games actually out, it’s smaller than ever percentage wise… I remember when it used to be up as high as 5%! then quickly dwindle down to 1%)
As far as people “designing” a playable server in a manner, there are hundreds of ways to do it, they would all be fun for a short period of time too!
Games increase the level cap because of bad design.

Earlier this moring DH was getting hard to find on most maps.
Yeah, it’s been really odd, I haven’t seen nearly as many people in WvW recently. Maguuma also led during most of the night IIRC. At least we can finally put these “Darkhaven just does PvD at night (player versus door)” comments to rest.
It is because it was statistically impossible to “lose” (whatever losing is).
Still fun fights though!
Transmutation – because this is linked to actual $$$. What does suck though is that when you have two sets of armor and only one helm from your storyline that you like, you only get to use it on one set. But, any other game, I don’t get to use it at all.
Crafting is useless – You make exotics with crafting, you’ll need a full set. If I made a game the system would be nothing like this… I’d put the “role” back in RP personally.
Too many currencies – Eh… not really. They could add 10 more, I don’t care. There is a larger problem with currencies and a market that promotes bots etc, and it is a problem that I could easily fix with design, but most all modern MMOs seem to have it.
Armor rarity disparity – I don’t see the problem here, spend 8g and get a full set of exotic? It should be better than masterwork right?
Magic Find armor – is interesting, and you’re right. Not sure what’s going on here in the decision. But I don’t actually care.
Guild system – You’re right, it is a mistake being able to be in multiple guilds. “Guilds” and the term have been eroded by other games from what they once were. This has been a downhill slope.
No depth – too many weapons, not enough useful skills – You want them to have the choice but not have the choice? I like the way they did it personally, it adds alot of depth and strategy… there are even some great builds being hashed out now in this point of the game.
No depth – traits are poorly designed – eh… not really. Traits matter a whole lot to my class and every alt I have played.
Combat sucks – The scrolling combat log is definitely broken, and you can’t even have a chat window and the log up at the same time! Being able to min / max every situation is not something that appeals to me like it does you.
Combat sucks – dodging – I like this personally. It lets people who know more about the game win “better”.
Combat sucks – downed system – I think this is for SPvP, not really anything else… but there are some good points to it… players don’t get “insta gibbed” per se.
Combat sucks – minor annoyances – This is because of “skill”. Think about it a bit!

You’re correct, it’s just that I don’t care about either of these.
You are so in a box they built for you, and I don’t even think you know it.
The best game in the world ever designed could come out tomorrow having features that a majority of the population likes, new designs and theories, and you’d still be in your box, unable to be happy. I hope you can find a game that makes you happy!
in 10k kills I have about 2200 badges, so it’s about 1 in 5 for me. I’m pretty much always in a group.
I bought all of the epic jewelry with it, now it all goes to siege.
We also enjoyed being the underdog, came to the same conclusion.
I once gave a nice long list that would solve the problem you are mentioning.
They don’t care. It appears they see it as “real life war without the real life” part.

This works fine. I use it all the time.
I am aware of all my stealth abilities, and if the revealed buff is up it won’t work.

And second character, the guard was beating you up before the thief got there. :/
This signet was useless in almost all situations compared to other utility skills, now it is the other way around… it’s a contender to go on the bar in WvW.
I like how everyone calculates the “combo” leaving two more attacks with 15% damage just sitting there not part of any equation.
I think it will still be nerfed by the numbers, but I do not think it will be nerfed by perception anymore… like someone said, no more gigantic backstab screenshots.

One thing I’ve noticed on all servers, once you start “losing”, your queues go away. It’s the fair weather WvWers that annoy me. DH is no different.
Edit: I should put “losing” in quotes.
example, a 15k crit backstab would have only been around 9k damage without the signet and might. the actual backstab without a crit would have been around 4.5 k damage.
The non crit backstab would be closer to 3.5k-3.8k… possibly less.
You left out the part where zerg guilds come to your server, recruit everyone (or, recruited), then leave. Your server is destined to go down the drain, I hope it does not, but with no changes it only makes sense.
What if I told you that there were middle tier servers didn’t have queues either, like the one you’re on? Well, it’s true.
So, why didn’t you just wake up 6-9 hours earlier and go to bed 6-9 hours earlier… did you have some free miles on some airline or something? :P
Ok, in DAoC you could see the name… I’ll tell you why.
You can’t /send that person, you can’t create a character on their “realm” on that server. If you did it with a brand new account (it happened, that’s what griefers / complainers do), you could simply get the ban for both accounts. Either way that creates overhead for the game and the players.
In this game, you CAN do all of those things, you can even simply /send them with your character that is on a different server, so you don’t see the name.
You can see the guild tag though, and since it is Guild Wars, it makes sense that your rivalries would be related to a guild.
On a side note, I’ve never heard of anyone who doesn’t want to show their name because they DIED… lol But, I suppose it happens.
10 players and 5 ballistas in pangloss, the perfect place to build them, and you can easily kill 25 newbs.
If you only had 5 ballistas though, your problem was no arrow carts. You’ll need at least one to help corral them.
I think I’ve put down 10-15+ ballistas in that place.
If the enemy has siege in there, playing around will get you killed if they know what they are doing.

I’d go one further, remove the WvW jumping puzzle.
You can never stomp out hackers, it is a 24/7 war. You write detection code they write code to bypass that detection method.
You write detection code, everyone is banned, then they get to buy a new copy of the game and start over, it’s a cash cow! I never understood why they don’t do it.
The only thing your server has is the consistency to rally zergs 24/7. Quantity over quality right? Maybe that’s why you’re stuck with fighting other servers a couple of tiers below yours. DH has more WvWvW guilds, very true. But it doesn’t change the fact that there really isn’t any awesome guilds or players that I’ve noticed out in the battle field as of now. Enough with your implication as to why your server is “steamrolling” us, it’s the numbers. So after a very brief moment of observation of WvWvW you concluded that DH is better then FC and AR? Well.. This is my observation of DH (been doing WvWvW everyday now with 6hours minimum daily). With weapon seiges, 2 to 1, and 3 orbs of power, DH still can’t beat FC in open field battles. Nuff said. And when I say weapon seiges, i mean Arrow carts, catas, ballis, Fire rams, and alpha golems, cannons and trebs. (lol yeah…)
Your observation is full of holes and ignorance. With the mindset like that, cya in 2 weeks.
First, the guy you’re talking to probably doesn’t even play on Darkhaven.
Second, DH (where I play) has a whole lot of “Fair weather WvWers”, probably more than either of the other two servers…. (maybe they are transfers that just pop around, who knows) but you’re saying DH can’t win an “open field fight”? I’m being completely honest here, I haven’t been in a losing open field fight since the first day… and I’m saying that with sadness… I don’t even think there’s been a “wipe” of a “zerg” while I’m playing. In our last matchup, this actually happened daily! Maybe it’s the new invisible man code? I don’t know… We are not used to having all 3 orbs, maybe it’s that? I’ve broken new records for max damage, so I assume some of these are equipment discrepancies too for whoever we happen to be fighting…
Also, to anyone else who is confused, the OP made the post in the at the beginning of the matchup, game was way up in the air… but he is a mezmer so , it’s really no holds barred.
When I left DR, it had an “exp group” that flipped camps. It was us (4 – 7 people) and them in eternal with the outmanned debuff night after night…
There were fights about who would lead the exp supply camp group. I’m not making this up! We’ve made two good decisions leaving servers as a guild, both were because of game design.
I wish both Kianeng and DR luck, whoever they have to fight is truly the worst of the worst… lol … I don’t think they can really comprehend what it’s like there… You can move up with population… which you’d have if they made some of the changes I requested a while back.
When I was on DR, we would be fighting server x, and Kianeng would show up and attack us.
If we took a server x supply camp, sometimes Kianeng would take it right after, when there is a perfectly juicy server x supply camp on the way from their spawn.
This happened the other way around too! DR would attack Kianeng when server x had 50 people to fight!
I actually believe (because I see this on other servers) that when two servers are outnumbered, fear makes them attack the other lower server instead of the stronger one, because they are more likely to not be outnumbered and maybe win a fight. Yes, I’m calling the people who do that chickens… lol
Anet could catch and ban them, not that hard… your position on the “server” is not “client” only.
The problem is keeping performance high while doing these things.
You have outlined correctly that snowballing is the problem. If more people knew what this was or what it meant, your task to change it to something proper would be easier.
If I can kill you all the time, why make it easier for me? At the very minimum, just leave it the same.
I recommended removing the scoring system a week in and replacing it with….

I played on a “low tier” / low pop server for a few weeks (4?) after transferring from my initial server.
I would recommend not doing that…
Not until they fix things that I outlined. You will be the only one out doing any WvW… and the way the game is structured at the moment, you will lose. Doing any WvW in a way where you “might” win will cost you a lot of money.
When you’re in good gear / group, the problem isn’t when they have 3x the people… the problem is 5x or 6x with the aoe limit, and siege only hitting 5 people etc…
If you give people starving for a fight the smallest hint of a fight, they will all show up.
I was one of the ones that helped make this happen in eternal… We put up good counter trebs after getting SM (vs both sides), then by 10:30pm that Friday we outnumbered the enemy had a full queue off and on until about 1:30am, when we owned it all.
A series of mistakes on the other sides let their keeps fall. They had enough on the map to defend them, they were just too busy trying to kill people running around while 25 people took them.
Not my cup of tea to be honest… getting 5 hours of good WvW before the enemy is defeated…
I definitely believe that quote if it was in the first week of long queue times.
Had they done what I suggested in a rollup thread, this post probably wouldn’t be here, instead, we all transferred off all of the low pop servers, and more transfer each day! yay!
Here’s a tip, many medium ranked servers have absolutely no queue anymore… and plenty of people.
The no WvW until next matchup works well too.
A thief can be “invisible all the time” as long as the thief doesn’t attack and has a target to attack after coming out of stealth.
If he attacks from stealth, he gets a 3 second debuff where he can’t stealth again… but with the server problem where he doesn’t show on the screen for about 3 seconds, it can appear to people (especially when the max amount of people is loaded on the screen) that they never come out even when they do attack.
The latter is a server problem that should be fixed.
Keep in mind that the thief has an ability to make the next attack do a bonus 50% damage.
I love the outmanned buff on primetime in EB. Which server am I on?!

The most I’ve ever hit someone with a clusterbomb for is 9k. I assumed they were lower level with worse armor and downed.
I routinely do 5-6k on normal targets, 4k on harder ones. I’m not even all crit damage specced, I’m at 87% bonus…
These things happen because of gear and your traits. (I do not have the bow bonus damage trait)
I usually end up with a pile of bodies on offense or defense. (6 is my record there)
You should be taking out all of the siege at attacks, and coordinating cluster bombs in the defense.
I don’t yank people off keeps… not enough room on the bar for that…
And don’t judge a class until you have good gear… if I find out you’re level 60… grr… lol… wait… you did mention EXP in your post… uhh…
It is unlimited range, says 1500 on the tooltip, but that is false.

I don’t know what you are encompassing as “your ISP”, but it is clearly not the game server no.
What I do is find an IP address that will respond to a ping request that is close to the server on the route my packets are travelling, then I monitor for timeouts, then I can pinpoint the actual hop that is causing the problem. I watch this hop, and if it owned by my ISP, I let them know there is a problem.
Uh… ET doesn’t even remotely compare to Kaineng or DR. (not in world or WvW… “Low”, “Medium”, “High”, are not linear at all… High probably has 10x + the people as medium, and medium probably 2x the people as low)

It was sort of odd.. but we were defending from being attacked on both sides (garrison), one side came in through the west and then went to the inner door on the west side … by the time I got there, there were 5 people from one guild already inside though the door was closed.
We killed them eventually, and eventually the door was downed and everyone came in… eventually we won etc… I went and repaired the door…
I noticed after it closed, I could simply walk into the pillars next to it and walk around it… then BAM, inside! (not taking the portal)
Is this normal for this door?
Pls disable the Mesmer skill "Portal" untill you fix the server lode issus

You intend to keep and invisible, swiftness running, 1200-distance-traited blink player “from the center of your group”? Not going to happen
so keep an eye out for the portal itself. if you see a portal “appear” then react as if there is a zerg pouring through it RIGHT NOW.
And then AE it so you can hit 5 of them. (oh wait, that rules out any targetted AEs)
To be clear for everyone else, the actual issue is a server issue. They should fix it. When they quoted this was “ok” on the other thread, you really have to believe that they had no idea what was actually happening is a server issue. They think it’s some magical tactic.
This will work 100% of the time with enough people on both sides total.
Buy 6 rares of the trading post, probably 1.2 gold right now. pick up green jewelry, that’ll run you another 25s.
Then save up for crafted armor and work from there.
I don’t know why a game needs mounts… because another game has mounts?
Would these mounts make you move faster… because another game had mounts that made you move faster?
Do those other games need instant waypoints now?
Game design and theory is far more complicated that what you are giving it, it must have a time sink to build a community. It must have consequences for actions, inconvenience for helping… etc… I would probably give that some thought if I didn’t understand it.
I’m personally glad people are actually thinking… that makes me feel better.
They have to hurry though, the opposite effect is happening.
